Video resolution Problem

The display that came with my Radeon HD 7600G will only support 1366 x 768, I get that.  o what I am trying to do is play some HD video ( 1920 x 1080 ) using an external monitor.  When I try to play a video of that resolution in the laptop display, it just won't handle it and is all choppy.
However, when I connect an external display that can handle 1920 x 1080, it still acts the same way.  The same videos will play fine in another desktop I have but it seems like this HP laptop can't handle it.  I've tried everything including letting the external monitor be the only monitor.
I don't know if there is actually something wrong or what.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello @bglen,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how you are attempting to play HD video using an external monitor, and when connected to your notebook the resolution is choppy.
Unfortunately, because your graphics card will only support up to 1366 x 768, you will not be able to display 1920 x 1080 using an external monitor. You can adjust the settings so that it is 1366 x 768 on the monitor, but the graphics card's resolution maximum sets the limitation.
I hope this helps!

  • Mini-VGA to S-video resolution problems.

I have recently hooked up a Apple Video Adapter that connects from my 17" iMac 1.8 GHz G5 Mini-VGA port to the S-video port on my RCA TV. My problem is that while it is plugged in I cannot put my iMac resolution at the proper 1440 x 900 because the option is not there. In order to get the 1440 x 900 option back, I have to unplug the adapter. How can I fix this so I don't have to unplug the adapter?

  • Snapz Pro to Final Cut to Flash Video - Resolution Problems

For my student job I'm supposed to make web video and I have a guidebook that explains how to do it. However, I have found some problems that have screwed up some things.
So I have captured video from Snapz Pro and I did this by setting the display resolution at 800x600 so that text can be readable. Now I set my selection capture at the same setting so that my final .mov file is 800x600 with good readable text.
The issue is when I get into FCP HD 4.5!
My final output is 480x320 MPEG-4 for flash video.
My guidebook tells me to set the sequence setting to 480x320, square pixels and MPEG-4 Video.
The problem is that when I bring in the 800x600 .mov file, I have pixelation problems and the video quality is markedly decreased.
I haven't been able to figure out the best approach but I need to change something for sure.
    Any tips or ideas?

  • Xorg nvidia resolution problems with KDE

I just installed Arch 2008.04-RC last night.  I configured xorg.conf using nvidia with the screen resolution set to "1440x900" which worked in both the X Windows and KDE 3.5.9.
I was trying to get xine working with Amarok.  At one point, I deleted ~/.xine and xinirtc to force itself to reset. I then rebooted at which point I noticed the resolution set only at "640x400" in KDE.  I checked the Display Settings and that was the maximum resolution I could choose.  I then switched to the vesa drivers which allowed a maximum resolution of "1024x768".
I removed xorg and nvidia and reinstalled.  I can no longer get a resolution of "1440x900" resolution for my Viewsonic VA1926v flat screen monitor.  I read on the xorg log that
I am using the Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT video graphics card.  uname -r:  2.6.25-ARCH
From /var/log/Xorg.0.log I get the following information when I am using vesa:

I am at a loss at trying to fix this one.  Something similar happened when I was running Gentoo on this same desktop back in April.  I also have the same low resolution problem when using Sabayon.
Any help here would be much appreciated :-)

I thought these frequencies were a bit low too.  My manual said there were the frequencies.  I checked online and it said the same.  I need to do more research on it.
I did manage to get my 1440x900 resolution back using the open source nv drivers.  I had to do the same with Gentoo and Linux Mint in the past.  Everytime I used the nvidia drivers, my monitor returns to the 640x400 resolution and I noticed the only way to avoid it was to use nv.  I do not play games online or use Compiz so it does not bother me.
    Thanks.

  • HD receiver/amp connected to non-HD TV - resolution problems?

My 10 year old receiver/amp (non-HD of course) went belly up!  My current TV is not HD & I'm not ready to spend the money for an HDTV monitor at this time.
If I buy a HD receiver/amp will I have resolution problems with the current TV?

No, receiver/amp simply passes video signal from your source to the TV.

  • Video Resolution

I recently made some videos for IPOD with Super. Everything worked well exept that the videos are small. In super I used the IPod 5.5G output container which had the resolution set at 640:352. What should the resolution have been?

PC Suite should play those QCIF videos no problem.

  • Still Having Video Resolution Issues

After latest software update only able to get 1024x768 with a couple of annoying lines of distortion on left side of screen. Xbox 360 and new Sony media player can be adjusted to use screen to full potential. Would sure be nice to be able to adjust video on Apple TV 2. Family really likes ATV2, besides this video issue.

HDMI>DVI conversion is not supported by apple.
But the problem is not with DVI (HDMI to DVI is no conversion, the video signal is the same) but with the implementation of the HDMI specification Apple is doing with the ATV2. Other devices with HDMI to DVI cable or adapters are working, so it must be possible with the Apple TV 2. There is even no need to support DVI only TVs, it will just work when the HDMI specification is fully implemented. And the more it should work if those affected TVs support HDCP over DVI. Even Mac OS X recognises my TV (it shows Philips FTV in the System Preferences in Displays) and is offering the possible resolutions for my TV (480p, 720p, 1080i, and some more). I sent feedback to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/ 2 times already, explaining about my TV and the possible resolutions and refresh rates.
I still believe it is possible to solve all those resolution problems with the ATV 2 via firmware update, and this will also include those with DVI only TVs, even without the need to specifically support it. There are so many articles in different threads here about various problems with the connection of the ATV 2 to different TVs, even when there is only HDMI involved.

  • Apple TV 2 does not switch automatically the video resolution (60 HZ / 50 HZ)

My apple TV streams the content from a Mac Mini. In my iTunes library are mixed content from the iTunes store. Some are 24 fps with 60 Hz and some are 25 fps with 50 HZ. All was bought on iTunes. The video resolution is set on my Apple TV to AUTO. This mens for me that my Apple TV will change the resolution by itself depending on the movie.
And this is the problem. The Apple TV does not change the resolution. It is only on 60 Hz. A lot of people has the same problem. My iPad wokrs fine and displays all movies correct.

Thank you for the eplanation. What might cause that activity as the TV was off and no other HDMI was on? Only WiFi was available but nothing connecting to the apple TV.... I tried to "wake it up" with iTunes on my macbook - and it works (I was not aware of). But it could not be iTunes and it was not really "used". So it might be iPhone or iPod waking it without we want it to.
I'll check all items potentially connecting to it. Txs!

  • MSI VOX Audio / Video Sinc problem

    Hi All.
Last week i bought a VOX TV Tuner.  Nice device works well except for what i want it for.
When I try to cpature at Full PAL DVD resolution I get audio / video sinc problems.  The audio is usually ahead of the video.  Half PAL DVD or below  it's fine.
I suspect it is the basic design of the box that is the trouble.  Having the audio feed to the sound card rather than than in the USB2 feed has been a no no ever since the problem was discovered back in the USB 1 days.  USB2 is capable of 400Megbits..
However I contacted another user who has no problems and says there is a patch for Direct x PAL video capture.  Does any one know of this patch or has any one had the same problem as I have??
This device seems so new that there is no info on the net about it..
    TIA.
System :  P4. 2.4 Gig, 512 Meg ram, fast HDs, Direct X 9.0 (have not installed 9.0b yet) Asus Mobo P4Pe.  Matrox Mystique video card. Win 2K SP4

  • Any way to adjust output video resolution from STB?

I have a HD Pioneer video monitor (PDP-503CMX + PDA5002) and a HDTV Sharp LC-26SB14U.  The pioneer supports native HD video resolution of 1080i and the Sharp supports native 720p.  Both units have a feature that allows users to "scroll through" multiple "display modes" (e.g., full, zoom, wide, etc.) to match up the display of the current video to the viewer's tastes.  The "best looking" format depends on the broadcast content / quality / format.
This "display mode" functionality worked on both my "TVs" when I used Time Warner cable, a week ago.  They also worked when I used an antenna to pull HD broadcasts off-air.  But now that I have swtiched to FiOS the STB seems to somehow "fix" the video output signal in some way so that both TVs show only the "full" display.  I don't like it -- the edges of the video (both top/bottom and sides) are cropped ... and worse yet, this display mode suppresses the crisp "native display" mode in favor of an inferior display mode where the video signal seems to be somehow "interpolated."  This interpolation / artificial enlargement results in a poorer quality video -- particularly noticable on the 52" monitor.
Any ideas how to adjust the STB output so that it uses the "native display" mode, if it must be locked into only one mode ... or better yet how to set the video output signal so that I can choose the mode myself (like I was able to do with the cable box and off-air antenna)?
    Thanks.

There is no "native" or pass-thru mode on the Verizon STB.  You can select either 1080i or 720p for HD output (the box will interpolate to that fixed resolution regardless of the source material resolution).
The additional choice is what is called 4:3 override.  You can pick 480i, 480p, stretch or OFF.  The first 3 are self explanatory while the last one (OFF) outputs SD in 4:3 aspect ratio upconverted to your selected HD resolution.
    Hope that helps.

  • Force boot to universal video resolution?

I have a G4 running OS9 and it boots fine. It displays a video image until late in the boot sequence when the screen goes black. This condition occured after I chose a video resolution that the LCD display apparently does not support. It would seem that the G4 is remembering that setting and I can't change it because the screen is black. I have switched to another monitor where all is well, but the problem persists if I return to the problematic monitor.
Is there a way to force the Mac to boot at 640 x 480 or some other universal resolution?

    Hi, iBob -
    Try this sequence.
While booted using the monitor you can use, throw away these preference files - Display Preferences and Monitors Preferences (both can be found in Preferences in System Folder; the second is in a folder named Monitors Preferences in Preferences).
Empty the Trash, then immediately shut down.
    Swap monitors.
Boot the machine - zap (reset) the PRAM on this startup. To do that, immediately upon booting press the Command-Option-P-R keys, keep them held down until you've heard three additional sets of startup chimes. Then release the keys and let startup resume.
This should result in the machine booting using the hardware default resolution, which is either 640x480 or 800x600 depending on model.
Once it has finished booting you should then be able to make any needed adjustments in the Monitors control panel.

  • Cisco VPN Client - Poor Video Resolution

I have a customer that installed VPN Client version 4.8.01.0300 and now, when she starts the client, her video resolution will change from High Quality (32bit) color to a basic color scheme (16 bit). It looks awful. She can change the video setting once the client software is started and it is fine or change it to 32bit after the client session, but the next time she starts the client, it goes back to 16bit. I have looked, but can't find a solution to this.

I think it could be a problem with the device driver or the video codec. It can be checked by playing some other video clips locally stored or playing a streaming video.

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR, Mouse problem & Video off problem solved!!!

I find the following information that I collected very interesting at the very least...
    Here goes...
The video off problem that I was having was directly linked to the mouse. Here, let me explain the video off problem. In the BIOS Have the Standby mode set to S3. The problem occurred when I started windows, then went into standby, then started back up, then restarted the computer, the monitor would act as if it were in sleep mode, or rather there was no signal being sent to the monitor. Well the odd way I fixed that is by plugging in a standard 2 button PS/2 mouse. Also this fixed the issue with the mouse sometimes not working in windows.
    Here is how I tested.
    Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse, PS/2 & USB= failed.
Logitech iFeel Optical Mouse, USB= failed.
Microsoft Cordless Ball Mouse, PS/2= failed.
Standard Artec (Cheapy brand) Ball Mouse (With no wheel), PS/2= All issues fixed, and passed.
When I said failed I do not mean they didn't work, I mean they sometimes didn't work and also caused the Video off problem after restarting the computer.
Obviously it isn't the ports (PS/2 or USB) that are the problem, it is more like the mouse itself, and the amount of buttons in particular. As you can see above the only mouse that works correctly is the one that only has 2 buttons, the rest has 3 or more buttons along with a Wheel. The MX700 has 8 buttons + wheel, WOW!
Anyways I figure out it was the mouse, and not the memory.
Obviously MSI needs to make a patch for this mouse problem.
I'm still having a hard time believing that the mouse caused the video not to work, but it is true! I spend well over 5 hours testing this crap. Every time with the mice with more then 3 buttons it messed up, and every time with the 2 button old fashion mouse it worked flawlessly!
MSI, get to work on a new BIOS to fix this mess!!!  :]

There seems to be a problem with my motherboard accepting mice with more then 2 buttons. It works the first time, but if you restart the computer, the video goes off. If you have both installed, it still messed up.
