Video Scrambles on new install

I just did a clean install of winXP pro on my 865pr system.  I have a P4 2.4 800, 2 sticks of Geil pc3200 512 mb ram and a radeon 9700 pro aiw card.  The first time i installed the new omega drivers for the radeon card and while i was installing service pack1 for xp my system crashed.  After rebooting, and i enter windows, the whole screen is scrambled, completly illegible.
Safe mode is affected as well, so i repartitioned the drive and reinstalled windows, now it happens as soon as windows loads.
I do hace a previous install of winXP on the other partition and that is affected as well.
Is my video card shot?  I have all the defaults loaded on the mobo and have shut off HT.
Help!

Sounds like the card might be damaged, but it might only be overheatink so make sure the heatsink is fitted tightly on the GPU core.
It could also possably be the board or a weak power supply so you have a few things to test out.

The new intel video driver won't install on my T410.  Anyone else having the same problem?  All I get is a Turbo Boost installation box.  The intel video driver version doesn't update.  I've tried manually installing via "update driver", but windows says that I already have the newest driver (even when i only have 8.15.10.2202).

that shows what you have to be the latest.
After looking at it again it is a typo. It shows .2202 until you bring it up, then it shows .2253. I will let the admins know, ty for pointing it out.

  • Problem with a new install: X, Radeon 4650, and xf86-video-ati

    Hi guys,
I am trying to setup a new install here but am getting stuck at X (I have been following the beginners guide).
Everything is stock (kernel, not [testing], etc.).
I have a ATI Radeon HD 4650 and am using the xf86-video-ati driver. I want to use dual monitors with this card (one 1920x1080 and another 1680x1050), but as far as I can tell, this is not the root of the problem. KMS is enabled by default and works well (with the exception of some slight artifacts on the 1080p monitor). I have tried to disable KMS but to no avail. But here is the essence  of my situtaion:
Note: Yes, hal & dbus are both running.
Running X as root without Xorg.conf: Mirrored at 1680x1050
Running X as root with Xorg.conf: Black screens
Running X as normal without Xorg.conf: Mirrored at 1680x1050
Running X as normal with Xorg.conf: Black screens
Note: The Xorg.conf is being taken from X -configure as well as taken from Xorg.0.log
My /var/log/Xorg.0.log can be found here: http://pastebin.ca/1877044 (after attempting to run X as a normal user without Xorg.conf)
Why can't I use a xorg.conf? How can I setup dual displays at their native resolutions?
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!

oh boy ...been in your exact situation before. I have a radeon 4890 HD. Very easy to get running the way you want it, once you know the steps to take of course.
btw, I've ALWAYS found it easier to run X with an xorg.conf file.
The way you go about setting up a dual head radeon card is actually very simple.
First, delete your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file if you have one.
    Second, run "sudo aticonfig --initial=dual-head"
Third, make sure the fglrx module is mentioned in your rc.conf file under modules.
aticonfig will then create a new xorg.conf file for you that will work with your dual head.
A few tweaks to the xorg.conf file before you start x:
Decide whether you would like to run Xinerama or not. Xinerama may or may not have any benefits, but I've had much more success by keeping it off.
    You do that by:
    Section "ServerFlags"
              Option          "Xinerama"  "off"
    EndSection
Make sure 'Load "dri2"' and 'Load "dri"' are commented out under section 'module'
Lastly, specify your display size under Section "Screen" (you should have two screen sections)
Do this by adding Modes     "1920x1080" under each SubSection "Display" .... or just take a shortcut and put it under the last subsection like I did.
Do it again for the your other screen section.
You are going to make a "virtual" screen, which would exist if your two physical screens were joined into one big one.
So put under your second "screen" section, Virtual 3360 3360 (I have two 1680x1050 monitors)
attatched is my xorg.conf for clarification:

  • Detecting Video Capture Devices without Installing JMF

    Hi All,
I want to detect the video capture devices, without installing the JMF.
I had included the jmf (windows version) in lib path in netbeans ide. I am able to detect the audio capture device. But unable to detect the video capture devices. But if I install the JMF, I am able to detect the Video Capture devices in My system. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Vinoth Kumar.

YES! Please take a look at SIP Communicator project. They have all what u want.
The main idea is copy all .dll files to System or System32 (Please check files which JMF will copy to ur computer and where).
U need to have jmf.jar and sound.jar too ( maybe more) in your computer.
Your program should have DirectSoundAuto.java, JavaSoundAuto.java, JavaSoundDetector.java, JMFInit.java. Those files are in JMStudio source code. They are used to detect all capture devices and register it to JMF, but wait !!! where they will be saved? In order to save information about capture devices which are detected, you should create "jmf.properties" file in the same location with jmf.jar.Therefore, u should modify the JMFInit.java so it can check if the "jmf.properties" exists. If it's not, you have to create it.
Check SIP Communicator at Folder "media" then "device". They have modified those files I mentioned above and created some new files to SC can detect more devices.

    Did you install Flash Player?

  • New install help. Please and thanks!

I'm hoping somebody can tell me what's going wrong with my new install.  Here are the details:
    Win7 pro
    i7 950
Quadro 4000 (with massive cooling blowing on the thing)
mxo2 mini max (because I'm slightly cheap, and yes, I feel a little like a hack plugging RCA cables rather than XLR for audio)
    24g ram
    Gtech 4tb graid
2 internal SATA drives (one boot, the other for utilities like tone, graphics I use often, etc.)
    Software:
PremPro (AE, AME, etc) 5.51 (haven't updated to 5.52 - problem here?)
    Squeeze 7
    Trapcode plugins
    Drivers:
NVidia: 276.14 (this is the Adobe approved one, at least so the download site said)
    Matrox: mtxutils_551
    So here are the issues:
-->  Code 7 errors while editing a long program ("Open GL does not meet min specs for application").  Before this happens, generally premiere will become unresponsive, program screens will go black and then boom.  On this program, I can get about 6 edits in before it blows.
-->  Cannot export long program (2+ hours).  (Matrox 1080i sequence - footage all P2 DVCPRO HD) Crashes after transcoding approximately 15-20 minutes of program.  Exporting to Graid where project and footage is stored (is this an issue?) Premiere crashes and computer restarts. Tried many different export settings, from "match sequence settings" to Premiere's mpeg2 setting, to the Sorrensen and the Matrox ones.
(Adobe Tech support and a very nice guy named Vinay helped me with a small workaround which involved opening up a hidden admin login, and disabling some Microsoft services and exporting to my spare internal drive)
-->  Also tried importing sequence directly into Encore and AME then transcoding through those.  No luck there.
-->  Premiere Pro on closing gives error message "Premiere Pro has stopped working;  appcrash exception code 00005.  Also, this is occasionally followed by a Visual C++ runtime error
-->  Capture plugins from Matrox are unavailable.  No Matrox capture settings are available.
-->  No WYSUWYG control panel for MX02 (I know this is an Adobe site, but figured someone might have some insight maybe)
So there's the beginning.  There are more, but these are the biggies at this point.
Thanks a million.  I'm a very busy one man shop and sincerely appreciate any other busy people taking the time to give me some input on this.

Thanks Jim.  Yeah, that was my suspicion as well. Right out of the box their damm plug-ins didn't install correctly, and it takes roughly a week to get familiar with all the "known issues" - a phrase that irritates me to no end - (if there are known issues - FIX EM before you sell me your s*%t!  Can you imagine delivering a project to a client with a 14 page list of "known issues"?!?!?  Seriously!)
There was a point where I really loved my Matrox products back in the old Digisuite days.  But there was this point where their world class tech support policies changed, and frankly it seems that was the point where the whole company became hack.  I was pretty skeptical about buying the mxo2 in the first place because of this, allowed myself to be "sold" because I needed to get back to work quickly, put the problem out of my mind and get back to work...and now I'm dealing with this.
Thanks for the link.  I think you're right, it would be nice if Adobe would address monitoring through a gpu.  But I'm guessing that won't be until CS6.5, by which point we'll all have to paying Adobe a monthly subscription vig to use their products.  This crap irritates me to no end.  I would love to see a reasonably priced and robust editing system that works like a hammer.  I'm a busy 2 man shop - I gotta pound my video nails quickly and get on to the next house.
Assuming I get rid of matrox...what's the best current solution for monitoring?  Doesn't sound like Aja or Blackmagic have any better solutions.

  • Watching online video on a new Intel-MacBook

I am unable to watch online videos on my new MacBook. The windows media player alarm comes up telling me I don't have the right plug-in. I believe that is the Quicktime component add-on. This still doesn't work. How can watch online video (like cnn.com for example) on my Intel MacBook?

The intel flip4mac beta is no longer available so you can't use it.
Therefore install windows media player from http://www.mactopica.com
You could then force safari to open under rosetta and the windows media plugin should work.

reinstall the original video card to install leopard
That should work fine. In my case, that wasn't an easy option because the Mac arrived from Apple with the upgraded card in place and my client would have had to buy a video card just to install the OS.
It's been years since I had a version of MacOS that required inits for specific machines. It caught me by surprise, but was totally understandable. The machine was made after Leopard was released and it did come with a proper DVD with the required video drivers, but my client had misplaced it. His Family Pack Retail DVD was the version of MacOS that was on the shelf at Amazon at the time and normally this isn't a problem for anyone because they are always out-of-date and require the user to bring up the OS to the latest version.
I suppose Apple replaced the DVD with an newer version because of the special order status of the machine.

  • Intermittent crashes on new install

    Hi,
I am seeing intermittent crashes on a new install of Arch.
I see different messages on crash, quite often
INFO: rcu_preempt_state detected stalls on CPUs/tasks:
    also
BUG: Bad page map in process bash
    and other processes.
    sometimes:
CPU: 1 PID: 1 Comm: shutdown tainted
I am vague here in the specific messages because it's not always the same and partly because I usually lose the logs due to hard restarting the machine.
I realize that the information here is somewhat lacking so I don't expect a magic answer to solve the problem. I am looking for advice on where to go from here to try and get it fixed.
The system seems normal most of the time then crashes without warning. When it does happen it will almost certainly get stuck at what seems to be the very  last stage of shutdown (that is if it allowed me to use the shell). It might or might not go wrong after reboot then.
I've done 2 cycles of test using memtest, both passing.
Any advice? Could a faulty hard drive possible be the cause?

TheSaint wrote:How much big is your RAM and swap ?
Perhaps you may add one more swap file, for testing purposes.
I suspect the most problem starts within swapping. You may look at this for references.
I've 4GB RAM and another 4GB swap partition.
I've tried using swapfile instead of the partition already to no avail.
I've also played with the swap performance settings, again, to no avail.
I've some more information to add now:
I left the system on last night and using it normally to see whether the hard drive replacement actually fixed the crashes (assuming the swap issues were separate). After 24 hours and some fair use, I was optimistic that the drive was in fact at fault. I then made some changes to a smb.conf file and restarted using:
    sudo systemctl restart smbd.service
The systemd returned with an error saying smbd failed to start. I checked the logs and smbd reported a segfault. I try again several times, leave it a few minutes and try again (having reverted to the last working smb.conf), segfault still occurs. I then checked "free -m" and noticed that the memory is mostly unused but the entire RAM is used for cache (which I guess is normal anyway). I then cleared the cache:
    echo 3 | tee /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
and immediately I was able to restart smbd.
A few hours go by and I do some rsync'ing to a CIFS mounted share. Partway through I get the following:

  • How to continuously play video in iPad new

How to continuously play video in iPad new ?

Ok....lets start this from the begining.....
So you are trying to install apps from the BlackBerry World on to your Z10 but you are getting a message that the app you selected to be installed is NOT avaiable for your Z10 device? And where is the message coming from: from your Z10 or from BlackBerry World when you try to download?

  • For a complete new install, do I have to install Leopard 1st, then Snow?

Ok, now Snow is out, I want to reinstall from scratch, do I have to install leopard 1st (my iMac came with it pre installed and have disks) or can I just use the Snow Leopard DVD to install from scratch
I have backed up what I want , ie iTunes, videos, docs, and want to do a brand new install from scratch.
    cheers

Ok, so I can just do a complete fresh install of Snow, I'm not bothered about archive or anything, just a fresh copy of Snow, as if it came pre-installed from Apple factory.
I dont have a Time Machine backup yet, as I all I need for backup is iTunes Library, Videos, photos, everything else I'm not bothered about. So I take it can just manually copy these to my iMac after fresh install of Snow?
Also another question....I have a Intel iMac, bought Xmas 2007, spec wise It:
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Do you think Snow will speed up my system, as now its a "bit old". It was the lowest spec when I bought it in the range (added another 1Gb RAM) but it was my 1st Mac ever, and all I could afford
    cheers

  • New Install Questions

Hey folks... I'm looking for some idea's on my new install (system spec's are in my sig).
I have done some basic playing with the system and it's pretty nice so far. I do have a couple of complaints ( hot hot hot) but mostly I'm dig'n the system.
    1) Add Fans... this system is hot, and I'd like to add a/some fans to it for improved airflow. Has anyone done this? I'd like some idea's on how to add more fans. (at least 1 80mm fan would be a great improvement I think). Or any other good idea's on lowering the system/cpu temp (and I did remove the stuff on the heatsink and put on some good AS5... but I didn't lap the heatsink)
    2) Sound/Video capture. Here's what I have right now: Dish-network DVR, Mega 180 (with Logitec 5.1 speakers) and a TV. I would like to be able to watch Satellite TV and have the sound (surround sound) come through the 180. Not 100% sure how to do it right now.
And if I add a Capture card, is it just better to go out and get a upgraded video card & capture card (will most likely NOT be playing games on this system, and if we do they won't be high end frame monsters)? Either way, got suggestions?

    YES
    THANKS
One word of caution.  People have claimed that reversing the fans has only worked in systems that did not have a separate video card in the AGP or PCI slots as they restrict air flow thus making the heat related problem worse than it was to begin with.

  • New Install -- X Won't Work [SOLVED]

I have to migrate to a new hard drive, and am doing a new install of Arch. I installed from net to have up-to-date packages...
I installed X and what I think are the necessary packages, namely:
ati-dri, libgl, mesa, xf86-input-evdev, xf86-input-synaptics, xf86-video-ati, xorg, hal, and dbus
I start hal with /etc/rc.d/hal start and do a startx but it replies:
    error setting MTRR (base = 0xc0000000, size = 0x04000000, type = 1) Inappopriate ioctl for device (25)
I am really stressing out because I need this new hard drive up and running like the old one, so I may be missing something major. Please, please help me get the bottom of this! Configuring xorg in my previous two installs for this computer have been a breeze but this time is killing me.
    EDIT:
Okay so the culprit was really stupid and quite annoying! Apparently a default .xinitrc was placed in my home directory. Removing it allowed me to test xorg by having twm load. For some reason I wasn't expecting a default file to placed by Arch of all distros. GRR... got a bit frantic for no reason. I will probably add a note to the wiki so no one else hits this snag.

Perhaps I do not understand what you are doing but I would expect that if you want to use X in a graphical mode you need xorg.conf be it that you use hal to create it for you or you create it by other means.
I know that if I use KDE I can run it without an X configuration file these days but I'm not sure if that is the same for plain old X.
    R.
Edit: This is what I was able to find:
Starting with version 7.4, Xorg can use HAL to autodetect keyboards and mice. The sysutils/hal and devel/dbus ports are installed as dependencies of x11/xorg, but must be enabled by the following entries in the /etc/rc.conf file:
    hald_enable="YES"
    dbus_enable="YES"
    Edit 2: Also notice this:
The automatic configuration may fail to work with some hardware, or may not set things up quite as desired. In these cases, manual configuration will be necessary.

have installed ecc 6.0 with sql server 2008 (sp 1) on windows 2003
    server with 64 bit.
My installtion was done sussfully and also i started sap system. It
was working fine. then i took backup from my standalone system .
I restored prodution server database in standalone system and restore
    was done successfully.
Then iam trying to login to sap system then it was saying that
    dispature was stopped.
first dispatur was in yellow and status running message server
connection ok,dialuge que time 0;00sec,j2ee status info unavailable.
Iam sending screen shots and also related error log files attatched.
Please can you get help from those documents.
    I also checked r3trans -d.
      C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>r3trans -d
    This is r3trans version 6.14 (release 700 - 12.06.09 - 15:20:00).
    unicode enabled version
2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = MSS  ---  SERER = 'SHURJO' DBNAME = 'PRD'"
    r3trans finished (0012).
before doing  prodution database restore is compulsary to i have to increase the patch levels of my new installed system
because my prodution server abap& basis patch levels are 19 and my installed system it is only 14.
Please can any body give right way to resolve this problem,
    Regards,

First: It's pointless to first install a full system and then try to overwrite the database with another one.
I would INSTALL the system using the database copy.
This procedure is call "homogeneous system copy" and there's a guide for that available at http://service.sap.com/instguides and also in "Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database".
The error message is coming because the database has not the proper users, you'd need to run the STM tool to adapt the users and the environment. Those steps are all described in detail in the guide.

  • How to log in to the new installed SAP ABAP instance ?

    Dear Experts,
    In SAP ERP 2005 installation,
I have done central system installation, Now I need to perform postinstallation steps,
Could you please tell me,  how to log in to the new installed SAP ABAP instance and do the post installation?
    Regards,
    Madhavan K

    Hi,
Check the list of post installation steps:
    http://www.saptechies.com/post-installation-steps-for-ecc-60/
From my point of view basic post installation steps are:
    - Installing SAP License (from http://service.sap.com/licensekeys)
    - Setup TMS  (STMS)
    - Import profiles (RZ10)
    - Client Copy (SCC*)
    - Create users (SU01)
However further many steps are required as per your requirements. Cehck the link for more detailed steps.
