Video Settings for WoW on new iMac.

Just got a new iSight iMac and World of Warcraft. Running 1GB of ram. There are a bunch of video settings in this game that can be adjusted. Suggestions or would it best to just leave them on default.

Larry,

  • Best custom video settings for QT on iPod

What are the best Custom video settings for creating a QT video via iMovie for use with the iPod? That is to say, I want to d/l from a Camcorder and then convert that to Quicktime...ultimately to be played on the iPod.
    Thanks,

  • Best Video Settings For The iPad.

    Hi everyone,
Does anyone know this ? "Best Video Settings For The iPad".
Kindly and in simple terms state the best possible settings to be use when converting videos for the iPad that optimizes the entire screen size/ area without a black borderline around your video. it's rather frustrating to have many technical jargons online without anyone giving real pointers at real values in conversion settings.
    Thanks in anticipation.

It is impossible to answer your question without knowing both the aspect ratio of the source file and your personal preferences for displaying it on a 4:3 iPad screen.
Basically, you have two options here when converting files of one aspect ratio for display on a screen of another aspect. You can distort the original display to "fill" the ipad screen. (E.g., you can make a widescreen movie exactly fill your iPad screen but then people and objects will look tall and skinny.) The other option is to convert at the original aspect ratio and simply use the iPad "zoom" option to force your widescreen movie to fill your 4:3 screen by scaling the height of your movie to fill the screen and allowing the left and right edges of you movie to be cropped from your view. You have no other choices here other than living with the defaulted black areas.

  • Video settings for iPad air 2

What are the video settings for the iPad air 2 with 128 GB?

I'm not sure what you mean by the video settings. You can read the iPad Air 2 technical specs here.

  • Video not working on my new imac

I recently purchased the a new iMac.  I have used one for years at my office and often use the facetime feature for conference calls.  However, my new imac seems to have an issue.  The video won't pull up on facetime or any other video.  I can hear and talk on facetime, but no video.

Go to your Applications folder and open Photo Booth. If the iSight camera is working, you will see yourself on the screen. If it is not, take the iMac back to the store - it's under warranty.

  • What are the settings for iPhone, iPad and iMac to sync ical and contacts?

How can I get all three items to sync? What are the settings on the iMac with Lion on board? I put all my stuff on iphone but iMac & iPad do not have the items synced even though I have everything on icloud?

They're asking a question about carrier settings for their iPhone. I think that has everything to do with Apple.
Maybe they did already ask Straight Talk. I've called Straight Talk before... they're not too helpful.
You know, this forum would be much friendlier if people in this forum would quit squabbling, & posting comedic replies, not too mention name calling (like I did), when people are just needing some help.
It's also frustrating that people stick up for the guy who doesn't help, but rather takes the time to post some smart alec reply. Granted, I shouldn't have name-called... some people just frustrate me when they act like that.
Admittedly, there ARE some grey areas when it comes to carrier questions... but let the moderators do their job when someone is asking innappropriate stuff. And if the mods aren't chiming in, then that's a good indication that what the thread is about IS in fact Apple related.

  • Which Soundcard should i buy for Musicproduction on new iMac ?

    Hi,
I'm planning to buy a new 20" iMac Intel. The main use will be Music Production as in Home Recording Studio. My question is for reasons of Budgeting. I'm now a Windows user and for music production I use Steinberg System 4 which includes the Steinberg MI4 Soundcard and SL 3.1.
So... with all the Cubase SX/SL 4 speculation and that it will "probably" come out around end of the year after Vista comes out.... blah, blah, blah. I wonder if my System 4 will work at all on the new iMac.... yes i open this question on the Steinberg forum.
Well, i would be maybe willing to buy a whole new SoundCard.... so...
    1) Is the Soundcard in the new iMacs good enough or should i get a better one? (I'm a Home Recording guy willing to invest some good ammount of money to get as good recordings as i can for a Home Recording Studio.)
    2) Can somebody recommend me 2-3 different SoundCards for the new iMacs that i could buy ? (Please not more expensive than 300 EUR or equivalent in USD. I think more than 300 EUR is not worth investing in a SoundCard, is it ?! IMHO... if yes no more than 500 EUR)
Oh yeah, i am using a MindPrint EnVoice II with DI-MOD, so that pre-amp with compressor is enough for me, the Soundcard doesn't has to have a good preamp and compresor stuff neither tons of inputs. I record through my MindPrint one Instrument/voice at a time. For Drums i simply use BFD from XPansion, so i don't have to mic that.
    OK, thanks for your advice!
    Cheers!

    Hi,
The iMac is built more like a laptop with very little room inside for adding/changing anything apart from RAM.
You could use the internal sound card of the iMac but getting an external audio interface will provide both more sound quality and flexibility.
Here's a link to suggestions about choosing a suitable audio interface : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1461454&#1461454
If you search through the Garageband and Logic forums you will find even more on this subject.
    Hope this helps.

  • Correct video settings for a Nikon D300s to input into Adobe Premiere Elements 10?

I understand that it is critical when using Adobe Premiere Elements 10 that the video settings of your project match the settings of your camera. I want to upload video from my Nikon D300s DSLR which has the video setting options of 480P (640 x 480), 576P (720 x 576), 720P (1,280 x 720), and 1080i (1,920 x 1,080). I will primarly be making videos either to upload to You Tube, or save on a dvd. Can anyone tell me which would be th right settings for my camera and Premiere?

It depends on which resolution you're shooting your videos in.
It looks like that cam shoots in 1280x720 at 24p. There should be a DSLR project setting for that.
But if the camera shoots in all of the video modes you've listed, you can shoot it in any -- just make sure to select the DSLR project settings that match the video.

  • Best way to prep for migration to new iMac

New 27" Mac (probably i5) on horizon since my G5 is 5-1/2 years old & having power supply issues. G5 using Tiger; never went to Leopard since I wanted to hang on to a few Classic legacy apps, which is no longer possible with new iMac (and I'm ready to let go ). Would it be best to trash all old Classic apps & games before doing final clone to external FW drive (via SuperDuper) in preparation for migration to new Mac? Or should I not worry about it & believe Migration Assistant knows all?

For SuperDuper, just download it again and reinstall. If you paid the optional shareware fee to enable its addition features, you can probably contact the developer if needed to register it again (if the method previously used to register it does not work).
I'm not sure I use Symantec Antivirus, but you should use the latest available version. Again, that would be a new download. If the new version requires paying for an upgrade or new license or some type of annual subscription fee, that's what you should do. If you have an existing license for the latest version, then you should be able to register it again after you download and install.
If you only want to scan for malware, there is a free utility called ClamXav
    http://www.clamxav.com/
It does the scans on your command, but does not install any software that runs in the background. To me, that is an advantage. There are no Mac OS X viruses, and other types of malware such as trojans exist, but are not very common (for Mac OS X); as long as you don't go around installing software off the 'net from suspicious sources, periodically running a scan should be sufficient protection. The only things I've ever found were Windows malware embedded in spam emails that I had not bothered to delete yet.
Downloaded software is not any different from software that comes on discs. You are just substituting the downloaded .dmg file for the disc. Even for the software that comes on physical discs, you should check the developer's web site for a newer version. If you want to keep using an older version, you should check to make sure the older version works with the latest Mac OS X 10.6.2 and with Intel Macs. This may be particularly important if some of your older Mac OS X software is for PowerPC. Most PowerPC software runs on Intel Macs using the Rosetta translator, but it would be best to update to Universal or Intel versions, if possible.

  • Hi is it normal for a brand new imac CPU usage be constantly running at around 78% when nothing is running ?

Hi I bought a new imac for Christmas, set it all up and installed all updates including maverick os. At first the imac ran very slow so I left it to sort any updates out but keep getting an error message when I boot up, say unexpected restart etc.
Also the activity monitor shows the CPU is constantly at around 78% with nothing being open or used.
    Is this normal ?
To be honest I'm not impressed at how sluggish the mac is.

    hi john,
apple care advised to take to a local store to be checked. when i arrived at the apple store i explained that the fans were on full belt and the cpu load and they just gave me a new one :-)

  • Can an early 2008 MacPro be reconfigured as an effective video server for 2 27" 2013 iMacs plus a New MACPRO (to be released) and how would be the best way to do it.

We are a small eiting studio with an early 2008 MacPro (maxed out on ram) with a 4 Port SATA card, 2 27" 2013 iMac's, and we will be purchasing a new MACPRO once they're released.  We work with Final Cut X primarily and would like to create a server solution to share media assets between the computers as well as insure our media assets are protected.  Ultimately we see us moving toward an LTO tape backup solution for projects and we currently use the Acera 8 slot 32tb Raid for media storage.  We use .DMG's to organize projects and we've had success networking the MacPro to one of the 27" iMac's and we can effectively mount projects off of the RAID on to both computers as long as the .DMG for that project isn't mounted on both computers.  However we can really only run background processing (like rendering or inputing video) we can't really edit as it appears even with a CAT6 capabled connecting the two still isn't enough to be able to edit.
Ideally when the new macpro comes out we would like to explore the ability of turning the 2008 MacPro into our server and buy an attached storage solution but I'm unsure if this will work, what we would need to do to make it work efficiently (read fast), and what my limitations might be.  Is it as easy as installing a new PCI 4port 1gigE card in the back and connecting our 2 27" Imacs and the to be purchased new MACPRO to that and insalling OS X Server?
Most of our projects are recurring and ongoing and require us to share our extensive library of live performances as well as insure its availibilty all the time without having to install the RAID set associated with those projects.  We have about 80tb's of video we'd like to keep accessible.
Any help is appreciated and I would be glad to fill in any blanks if I left any.
Lastly, I might add that I'm not a fan of onebox solutions from the vendors, I believe that Apple has the products I need to do what I'm talking about and most 3rd party one-box solutions end up out-moded with in years of purchase.
    Thanks,

Gigabit Ethernet can be limiting for large file transfers, which usually segues into either 10 GbE NICs and/or (less desirably) link aggregation and/or an Xsan configuration with Fibre Channel SAN storage, if you really needed the I/O speed and scale.
If you're serving large volumes of data and it's the the server-to-host Gigabit Ethernet link that is the limit (as differentiated from the RAID array or related I/O link as the bottleneck), then you're left to either or both 10 GbE NICs and FC HBAs, whether via Thunderbolt HBA adapter or via FC HBA in a PCIe slot.  (Thunderbolt is not an option on any current Mac Pro or Mac Pro Server I'm aware of.  That'd be PCIe.  Conversely, recent iMac systems have Thunderbolt and no PCIe.  And there's no Thunderbolt to 10 GbE NIC listed by Apple.)
Discussions of the new Mac Pro are premature, beyond the information Apple has posted.  (But I'd probably also wait a month or three after release of any new hardware and software, in any event.)

  • Bad video=Bad logic board in new iMac?

Just had 2 less than fruitful phone call with Apple; my one month old imac has suddenly developed horrible video problems. (pixelated screen, messed up images, missing info/icons from desktop)
Apparently the logic board is bad and needs to be replaced. Our local mac shop is with the university and is closed until January 17, so we are without the computer until then?
We can't send it in, and the other nearest store is 150 miles away.
Tech people said they've been hearing this... but I thought the problem was resolved before this new line came out? Plus no support for a month?
Sorry quite frustrated by the non-options right now. Is anyone else in the same boat or familiar with this situation? Thanks.

I received my isight mid-November and within a couple of hours, my screen started having problems. Required new logic board. Logic board installed by my local Apple store. Haven't had a problem since -- perfectly quiet too!
