Video shot on iphone 5 playback choppy on iphone 5

When I shoot video on the iphone 5 and I play it back on the phone, it is choppy. This is a recent feature.     It was working fine until about a week ago ( that I noticed it. I have the 32 G phone with 22G on it.  Strangely, my iPad has stopped charging through a powerd hub it has used since August and there are some other weird things happening... all since the  IOS update.

James,
I have heard the same thing about processing power, but the answer was vague and no one has told me anything definitive yet. However, I a cant afford to buy a new iMac, as much as I dearly want a new one, but I did upload my pics and vids to my mother in laws iMac (almost two years old running Lion) and they worked just fine. Why does this happen?!?!?!?  I don't know. I thought maybe the OSX only allows iPhoto a certain amount of processor power, but I opened them in QuickTime and they produced the same choppy effect. Probably some bit of code they sneak into iOS to make one have to buy a new iMac/MacBook. I wish, for the both of us, I had a better answer. Anywho, good luck and Godspeed in all your endeavors.
Tony

  • Why did frame rate of video shot on iphone 5 change from 30 fps to 24 fps?

Why did frame rate of video shot on iphone 5 change from 30 fps to 24 fps?

My understanding (which could be wrong) is that the iPhone shoots video with a variable frame rate. This is likely so it can optimize video for FaceTime. So uncomplicated scenes can be shot with a lower framerate, and active scenes will be shot with a higher framerate.

  • Why can't i import videos shot on iPhone 5s to PP 5.5?

I can't seem to import videos shot with my friend's iphone 5 to Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5. However, out of all the videos shot (94 in total), i managed to import 4 of them.
    What premiere pro says.
This is the details of one of the many videos that CAN'T be imported into Adobe Premiere Pro.
The one that CAN be imported
The only difference is the resolution.

    Please advice.

  • IMovie for iPad not detecting video shot on iPhone 4

I recently purchased iMovie for iPad with the hope that I would be able to use video shot on my iPhone 4 but with no luck.. I have about 10 30sec clips and non of them appear in iMovies video "bin"

    Hi all
Found a really cool app called simpltransfer which allows you to transfer photos and video between iDevices!!
The app has a lite version (which allows you to transfer from within your 1st 50 files listed in your device's camera roll or photo library) for free download.
S now I can edit away on my iPad ... Soon to be uploaded to YouTube n Facebook for all my friends viewing pleasure!! LOL
More apps should have lite versions as trials!!! Too often I've paid the $1 or $2 only to be disappointed that the app does not live up to its claims ... Like 100 cameras in 1 for iPad.
Anyway .. Thanks for all the help!!

  • Cannot locate or import video shot on iPhone 4s to my PC?

I shot a 32 minute video at my neice's birthday party on my iPhone 4S.
I have read the other threads about how it's difficult to import "large" video files from the iPhone to your computer, but my problem is also that when I plug my iPhone into my PC, the video does not even show up!?  I have 5 self-shot videos in total on my phone - 4 of these videos show up on my PC when I connect but this one of the party, the largest video file, is not showing up in my windows explorer window.  (FYI - I have a laptop with Windows XP)
I even unplugged my phone and double checked the video hadn't been deleted.  I just watched it start to finish with no problem on my phone.
Any help would be appreciated!  I was really hoping to transfer these videos to put on a DVD for my familyi?!!

  • Video shot with iphone upright

I've shot a series of clips holding my iphone upright instead of horizontally, and the tops of my clips are now pointing left rather than up.
can I straighten them and, if yest, how.
I have a Windows laptop. I do have PowerDirector.
    Man thanks

Don't know if you are recording in landscape or portrait mode, but if in landscape make sure the home button is on the right hand side. If it is on the left the video could be upside down.

  • Geotag videos shot with iPhone 4S?

I know photos shot with the iPhone have embedded geotag data, but what about videos?   If the quicktimes don't have geodata embedded within them can Google Latitude data be used to add geodata after the fact?

  • Synching Videos shot on iPhone

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but here goes...
Can you wirelessly sync the videos you shoot on your phone using iCloud? Obviously, my still shots go into Photostream, but what about the videos? Will I have to plug in to sync those?
    thanks

Saddly, you still need to connect your iPhone to the computer for videos, because Photostream is only for photos!

  • Trouble watching videos shot with iPhone 4s

I'm having trouble watching videos I have made with my iPhone 4S. I have the newest Apple TV and when I try to watch  a video it takes forever to get started. a 25 second video buffers for almost  one minute before playing, a video that is 1 min. 30 sec. takes a very long time to play. I can stream you tube and other videos with minimal buffering before play.
    anyone else having this problem?

I don't have the 4s , but I believe you can shoot in 720p which will allow it to play much quicker on the Apple TV, but will be of lower quality on higher spec devices such as your computer. The other alternative is to transfer it to a computer and convert it and put the export into iTunes (keep 2 copies, so to speak)

  • Video shot on my iPhone 5S produces error -2048 indicating that .MOV is not recognized by Quicktime

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 (16G) to an iPhone 5S (16G); my wife from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5C - videos from either phone will not play in QuickTime v7.7.4 (running Windows7). I have downgraded to an earlier QT version 7.6 to no avail. I have reinstalled QT 7.7.4 and continue to get the message 2048 from Quicktime it is not a file that QuickTime understands; I can play the videos previously shot on the iPhone 4 units. I've also tried to open with other video players (Windows Media Play, VLC) with no luck.  Anyone else out there overcome this challenge?
    Thanks!

    Hi!
I got a video share on my mail. It was an .mov attachment. Video shot on iPhone 5. when i try to play that video using quick time i get a pop up message saying
The document “IMG_0110.MOV” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized.
If i opt for "tell me more" i get to see a screen showing what all formats are supported by quick time player. It says quick time supports .mov formats.
    Please help.
Try downloading the free VCL Player from here
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html
And see if that will play it. It plays a lot of formats that Quicktime will not recognize.
    Cheers

  • Need help changing ratio on iphone video shot verticle because iMovie is showing it stretched wide.

What do I do if I imported a video from my iphone to imovie and it came out stretched? Like it was shot with camera upright and the imovie is making it fit to frame. I don't mind if it plays with two black bands on the side I just don't want it stretched.
I don't se anywhere to adjust aspect ratio or anything that seems to help and most of the answers in forums use tech talk I don't understand.  So if you are going to suggest I change the ratio from 16:9 to 16:10 or something like that please explain what that is and how I specifically do it in iMovie for Dummies talk.
    Thanks so much.

  • Is there an app or way that you can take a single frame out of a video shot on the iPhone and use it as a picture?

Is there an app or way that you can take a single frame out of a video shot on the iPhone and use it as a picture?

I don't know if there is an app, but you can take a snapshot of the video.  I do this all the time.   You just need to hold down the power and home key once and it will take a snapshot.

  • Compare: video shot with an iPhone to that shot with an iPad?

Has anyone compared video shot with an iPhone to that shot with an iPad Touch, and edited on an iPad with iMovie?
What was the results?  Is the iPhones camera significantly better than an iPod Touch for video?
    Thanks,
    Hal

Yes. The iPhone camera is superior.

  • I shot some video on my iphone and can not find a way to upload the videos to my Mac.

I shot some video on my iphone and can not find a way to upload the videos to my Mac. I can not find anything in the iPhone manual or in these discussions. I am sure there is an easier way than emailing each file to myself. Help!

Connect your iPhone to your Mac and start the Image Capture app. It's in the Utilities folder which is in the Appliations folder on your Mac.

  • Video shot specifically for Slow Motion playback

I thought I might try starting a thread for sharing video shot specifically for the purpose of playing it back in slow motion. For the first example, I shot this flag flying on a perfectly clear day. We have had a lot of really clear blue days lately much to my delight.
My Panasonic DMC-GH3 can shoot 1920X1080 at 60 (59.94) frames per second. That is frames, not fields. So interpreted at 29.97 frames per second it plays half speed. This was taken a step farther and played back at 24p. So if my math is correct, it is playing at 40% (close enough).
Funny, but the camera actually has a setting to shoot video to play back at 40% but it seems redundant to me. Perhaps if the video was never going to be edited, just played back, that could come in handy.
I used a recording from the US Army Band because I was in the Army and I am just used to hearing it played by the Army Band. I thought of adding the lyrics since I really like them. All four verses. I just didn't have enough footage to do it right and I love the sunshine and blue skies. So here is a link to the four verses for those who want to play the video four times and sing along. Nobody? Are you sure? I did it. Couldn't help it.
I am probably going to put up a couple more copies. One with the Pledge of Allegiance and one with the first verse of the National Anthem.  In the meantime, I am enjoying all that blue sky.
If your camera can shoot at a higher frame rate to play back at 24p, please post some examples.  If you are particularly good at using Premiere Pro to modify the playback speed of video, let's see what you've got.
The camera was siting on a GorillaPod shooting at approximately a 30 degree angle. The lens was my 100-300 set for 183mm, the equivalent of 355mm on a 35mm camera.
ISO 200. This video has not been modified in any way other than interpreting it to play at 24 frames per second, to trim off the beginning and the end (to eliminate the shaky setup and take down of the shot), and I also added cross-dissolve transitions at the beginning and the end. No color correction of any kind and no stabilization. This is what the camera saw.
I really love the flag of the United States. If you live in the United States I hope you do too. Today is Washington's Birthday. So Happy Birthday to the Father of our country. Our first President. This is my present to our founding fathers on this day, and I chuckle to think about how shocked they might be at the number of stars on the flag, and I am sad when I think how mad they would be if they knew how far we have strayed from the principles they fought and died for.
(I'll bet old Ben Franklin would love the Internet though.)

Steve, regarding my request getting inside flag and changing shutter speed etc..
I have to admit right off that I don't understand this myself as I should...and I don't have a motion pic camera OR the DSLR ....which I can get in April ...at which time I will be off to the races trying to figure out how to use it.
But the gist of what I was getting at ( though hazy and not understood by me ) I'll try to explain...
Motion pic film cameras with the mechanical gizmo that pulls down the film ( frame by frame ) have a rotating shutter ( the gizmo is typically called a mitchel movement I think ). The rotating shutter has a mirro on the back side which allows a person to 'see' via some magic stuff ( prism ? ) what is in the frame ( eyepiece ). I guess it's similar to a SLR mirror but this one spins.
This is what it looks like
So, a normal setting for that shutter is 180 degrees... and it spins so that each frame gets 'exposed' by the open part of the shutter. Then when the shutter is spun to the closed side ( no light getting to film frame ) the 'next frame of film' is dragged down into place to be exposed. So that happens typically 24 times per second.  It is pretty fast.
Some motion pic cameras can shoot even FASTER ( amazingly )...and you can therefore increase the FPS. Then as you know when it's played back at 24 FPS in projector, it looks like slower motion.
Unfortunately if the FPS is increased the 180 degree shutter may not be letting in enough light to get a good exposure anymore... so that shutter can be adjusted ( called the shutter angle ).
So a 45 degree shutter would let a lot more light hit the film ...cause it lets more light through its rotation time.  This is the part where I can totally confused....and hopefully I'll learn more when I get the DSLR how this is handled with modern digital camera.
Cause, if you let more light hit the film by adjusting film motion pic shutter it stands to reason there will more " blur " from the longer exposure. However, this is offset by the faster FPS speed... so this is why I am curious about it...
As a point of fact motion pic cameras can be synchd to CRT screens using a mechanism that times the shutter to coincide with the horizontal 'lines' of the CRT ( timing of frames of interlaced signal )... and the shutter has many 'angles' it can be adjusted to ..
So, anyway, I guess this is something to explore when I get that DSLR...
I was thinking it might look cool to have slo mo with more 'blur' to make something look a little ghost like...kinda like my flag picture with time exposure...
    crazy idea...
