  • Recieve signals from WLAN NIC, decode and produce video signal from VGA or Composite Video out

i am trying to broadcast some MPEG4 video messages over a WLAN and display them on TVs and LCDs. i need to develope an interface between the wireless NIC and the display modoule. this interface has to be able to collect the information, decode the information to reproduce a video signal on a VGA socket or a normal TV composite video socket. does anyone has any ideas how i can achieve this?? please help me!! thank you!

    Hi,
Assuming that you are trying to use LabVIEW to achieve this,  I believe that it will be simplest if your wireless NIC exposes an ActiveX interface that LabVIEW can use.

  • Need to split video signal to both HDMI and VGA

I am hosting an event and the venue has given me a really tough challenge. I need to send a video signal from my Macbook Pro 15"(the highest spec, latest model) to a projector that only accepts VGA and to an A/V system that only accepts HDMI(this A/V system broadcasts the signal to several flatscreen TVs throughout the venue). Here are my two ideas, can anyone tell me if this will fail and if so, are there any other solutions?
Idea 1: Use a mini-display to VGA adapter, split the VGA cable with one VGA cable going to the projector, and the other VGA cable going through a VGA to HDMI adapter to the A/V system
Idea 2: Use a mini-display to HDMI adapter, split the HDMI cable with one HDMI cable going to the A/V system and the other going through an HDMI to VGA adapter to the projector
Idea 3: Rent another projector that accepts HDMI, use a mini-display to HDMI adapter and split the HDMI cable, with one going to the projector and the other to the A/V system(this is the most expensive option and I want to avoid this if possible)
The event is tomorrow evening, and I need to buy these cables today if possible. Would love to hear any ideas, thanks!!!

Yes.  All video and audio outputs are always active.

I need to connect I-Mac G5 to HDMI TV, I think I need this: Video Out: mini-VGA (mirror only) to HDMI, where can I buy? Apple Bluewater no help.

VGA is an analog signal HDMI is digital. A simple cable would not work you would need something that converts the analog signal to digital.
A search of VGA to HDMI turned up a few possibilities but nothing specific. In any case the picture on the TV will not be very good given the source.
You should check to see if the TV has a VGA input. Some TV's have a computer connection port and this is usually VGA.

  • DVI-VGA Converter Help...

I have an older model G5, My display which was one of the old models with the clear plastic frame around it broke, so I just replaced it with 2 LG screens that I am going to link together. I got a DVI/VGA adapter for both of the screens and only one fit into the back of the computer. The other input seems longer than the normal DVI input. Would anyone know which converter I need to buy and where I can purchase it? Thank you.

Thank you. I know this may sound insane but let me know if u think this will work. I already have a VGA to a DVI adapter. If I get a ADC to DVI adapter, can I think link all 3 of them together?
ADC to DVI adapters use DVD-D. They only transfer the digital video signals. A DVI to VGA adapter needs the analog video signals from DVI-A or DVI-I. It will not work with (or even plug into) DVI-D.
(Some ADC to DVI adapters may use a DVI-I connector, but the analog video pins are not connected, so will not work with a DVI to VGA adapter.)
Do your LG didplayd hsave DVI ports?

  • Internal Video Cable to VGA?

Does anyone make a cable or daughter card that will convert the internal video connection to a VGA connector?
With my LCD all gray and the sleep switch not working, I thought I'd see if there was a away to test the internal video before I take the screen back off.
    Thanks

Hi, Severian. I gather that you are trying to determine 1) whether or not the video circuitry on your logic board is generating usable display data, and 2) if it is, where that data is disappearing: at the connection between the video data cable and the logic board; somewhere in the cable; or in the display itself.
Step one is to verify that the video signal from the video processor is usable for display purposes. Since the Video Out port is also soldered to the logic board, there is no place save in the LB itself for that signal to go missing between the video processor and the port. Therefore, connecting a known-good external display to the port with a known-good cable will quickly tell you whether there's a usable video signal being generated. I gather that you've done that test and verified that your on-board video circuitry is working.
Since the external display works normally, the most likely suspect is the data cable from the LB to the built-in display; the other possibility is the LCD display itself. First, verify that the cable is properly connected: disconnect and reconnect it securely and test again. If the connection is OK, the cable may be damaged either outside or (far less likely) inside the display bezel. It's a complex and delicate cable, actually a bundle of separate tiny coaxial cables. Pinching, sharp bending or twisting, stretching or abrasion can destroy it very easily. All of these things are most likely to happen where the cable passes through the display hinge. Inspect it very carefully with a hand lens, but be mindful that the actual damage may not be visible even if its probable location is.
The cable connects to the LCD inside the display bezel, of course, and the bezel is glued together, with the expectation that it will never be disassembled. If something goes wrong with the cable (or the other two cables that run from the computer into the bezel, one for the backlight and one for the sleep light), an Apple technician's remedy is to replace the entire display unit, including all three cables ($$$). Some bold do-it-yourselfers, reluctant to pay for a new LCD when a bad cable or backlight may be their only problem, have figured out ways to dismantle the display bezel while keeping the inevitable cosmetic damage to a minimum. One such procedure is nicely documented here. The disassembly is not for the fainthearted.
I should also point out that my sleep switch is bad on the laptop so that is why I'm so determined to get the internal video to work.
Sorry, but I don't follow. What is the relationship?
As it stands right now, the login in screen is being diplayed on the laptop screen so I can't even login in to change the video over.
My understanding was that you had nothing but gray on the built-in display. Please clarify.

When i turned the computer on for the first time, the system boots up and there is one small beep, sounds like it is posting, but I get no video signal from my monitor, which I checked on my other computer and is working fine, I tried both video cards in the 1st slot, in non-sli mode and I get the same result each time, so I get no video signal with all ways tried? Do I not have enough power in this PSU to run what I have? The video manufacturer suggests a 450W PSU, which I meet, but do I not have enough juice the 12V rails? And would this cause the no signal? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello, welcome to forum.
"When i turned the computer on for the first time, the system boots up and there is one small beep, sounds like it is posting, but I get no video signal from my monitor, which I checked on my other computer and is working fine, I tried both video cards in the 1st slot, in non-sli mode and I get the same result each time, so I get no video signal with all ways tried?"
have you tried with one of them only into 1st PCI-E? use 1st DVI output, when using SLI, ensure SLI bridge is configured property, connect monitor to VGA onto 1st PCI-E slot. also check monitor output is configured property(etc: Input 1, Input 2).
power down PC, remove power cord from the PSU and Clear CMOS Guide
    re-test.
ensure all power cables are connected property. try to boot with one memory stick only into slot close to CPU socket.
    what D-bracket shows?

yes, think is too weak for your system
its recommended to get single rail with high amperes on +12V (over 30A)

  • Solutions for displaying s-video signal on Macbook Pro? (2006 model)

I looking around for ways to display an s-video signal on my Macbook Pro, but i've no idea the best way to this.
I'm not really after capturing or recording the signal, but I just need a means that I can view the signal, and to be able to switch to another program running on the Macbook. (switch back and forth from Mac app to viewing s-video signal)
Ive seen a few products but they look overblown for what I really need to do like the Elgato video capture, and the xlr8 provideo usb devices.
Is there a way that I could use the DVI socket on the Macbook? I have seem its possible to display the Macbook signal on an external display using this socket, but can it be used to take an input signal?
    Message was edited by: jauqq
Technical note of what I exactly need this for: I have an old Roland sampler which can be used with an external monitor to aid in its editing. The outputs on the sampler are s-video and digital RGB. So that I dont have to buy an old bulky monitor I want to use my Macbook display for this while I also am running Logic Pro 8 at the same time. And to switch from Logic, to the displayed signal from the sampler.

The DVI out on your MacBookPro cannot be used for input. In order to see the s-video signal on your MBP display you will need an analog-digital converter like the Canopus ADVC-55, plus you will need to run software. You may be able to use iChat A/V, although I haven't tried it for this purpose. It will cost you more than the Elgato eyeTV device, however.
You will find it much easier & cheaper if you just get an inexpensive LCD display to use with your Roland sampler.

  • No video signal on projector (Lion, MacBook Pro)

    Hi guys
since I've update to Lion (10.7.2),  I have problems getting a video signal via mini-DVI / VGA to certain projectors. I'm using a Mac Book Pro (end of 2008). I have never encountered similar problem with previous versions of Mac OS X. Restarting the MacBook or the projector doesn't help. Does anybody have an idea what to do?
    Thanx
    fweth

I also update to Lion from 10.6.8.. My Dell 3300MP projector worked fine with Snow Leopard. Then with Lion, there is occassionally scrambled signal, but most of the time no signal.. Tried restarting projector, restarting computer, turning mirroring off and then on, but no help. I am running an early 2011 13" MBP.. Really frustrating for someone who does lots of presentations and teaching.

  • HP w2207 Monitor - "No Video Signal" After Power Outage

My mother has a Mac Mini - 2009 model - that I bought her. It is connected to an HP w2207 monitor I used to have with a mini-display port to DVI [I think, either that or VGA] adaptor. She lives 2 1/2 hours away.
Last week there was a power outage and ever since she cannot get her system to work. Her monitor says "No Video Signal" and then goes to sleep.
I worked with her for over an hour on the phone trying to fix this problem (oh what fun). Tried every combination of things I know to fix it. It seems from her description that the Mac Mini is not actually booting. When I have her turn the computer off by (press the power button, wait, press it again), she reports that she will here the disk drive spin up for 10 seconds but then no more activity. The green light is on, but that is it.
I had her reset the SCM, but that didn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Bryan

See if the Mini will boot from the install disk. If it does, have your mom use Disk Utility to repair her internal hard drive. Repeat running repair until Disk Utility gives the disk a clean bill of health. Then repair permissions.
Disk Warrior can sometimes repair things Disk Utility can't. However, it's possible the internal directory is beyond help. In that case, erasing the internal disk and reinstalling the system will be necessary. It's also possible that the disk itself or electronic components in the Mini have been damaged which would require repair at the Mac hospital.
You might want to consider buying your mom a UPC.

  • Connection MACBOOK PRO to Philips LCD: NO VIDEO SIGNAL

    Hello all,
I recently both a Philips LED TV, type: 40PFL8605H/12.
    I have a MACBOOK PRO from 2007.
I would like to use this MACBOOK PRO as a media server on the TV.
I have connected the MACBOOKPRO via DVI-VGA connector to the VGA input of the Philips TV.
Result; I get 'no video signal'-message on the TV screen. I recently connected the MACBOOK to a beamer and it worked perfectly.
Although, the TV say's 'no video signal' the display system preferences does recognizes the TV. It say's PHILIPS FTV and a different number of resolutions.
I have tried them all, the result stays the same.
I'll tried the Philips helpdesk and the answer was that everything seamed to be connected ok...so, no use full help there (yet)
'Google-ing' around did not give an answer either.
Anybody here with use full tips?

    Thanks a brody,
I'll get me one of those cables and give it a try...
are you sure it should work then? i see a lot of discussions and people with the same problems...
I was first thinking to buy a new mac mini to use it as my 'home-server' and as multi media player.
However, my 'old' macbookpro is also getting 'ware-out' and is subjet for replacement for profesional purposes...
If I could use my good old macbookpro as media/server, it would save me a couple of euro's...
Can you (or somebody else) advice me... my old macbook as media server and a new one as profesional lap-top or upgrade my old macbook (new harddisk extra memory) and mac mini as home server and media player...
of course, first criteria is to get my old macbook hooked-up to my TV ...
    thanks for the advice...
    cheers

  • Input Video Signal to iPad

    Hello,
I'm planning develop an App to work on business and it has to receive video signal from a DV connection (Firewire IEEE 1394).
Do you know if is this possible even with an adapter or by developing an external hardware?

It would take more than just an adapter but rather extensive circuitry to convert a Firewire signal into something the iPad could accept though the dock connector. There's a device that can input analog video:
    http://www.irecord.com/index.html
but nothing I've seen that will accept video from a Firewire device. Given that an analog converter is possible I could guess that a Firewire converter is at least feasible, but developing one would not be easy.
    Regards.

  • SD video signal into PP CS6

When recording a SD video signal via fire wire into Premiere Pro CS6,  is the video signal compressed?

    Hi Budrick,
The question is not entirely clear - are you capturing from a digital (miniDV, Digital8, etc.) source tape, or from analog source (VHS, 8mm) coming in through a Analog-to-Firewire converter? If DV source, then it is already compressed on the tape, and "capturing" via Firewire is simply transfering the video data from tape to hard drive with no additional compression. If from analog, then what Ann said.
