Video size is larger after transfer

I have a 60gb JVC Everio HD camera. I'm saving my transfers to a 500gb external drive. I currently have 25gb of video on my camera. When video was transferred to external drive the transfer size shows 211gb. Does anyone know why after transfer the files is so big? How does the 25gb on camera end up 211gb on harddrive?? I work for JVC and would like to try and help.
Can you give me a little more info?
1. The model # of your cam (GZ-HD300, GZ-HD3, etc.)
2. The recording mode you used (UXP, XP, FHD, 1440CBR, etc.)
3. What software/version you are using to edit (I believe iMovie 09, but please confirm)
4. The specific method you used to transfer the video (via USB, via i.Link, using the import from camera mode in the software, etc.)
There may be a better method that doesn't result in such an increase in file size. Let me know the answer to these questions and I will do my best to help.

Hi, i took a short video on my iPhone 6 ( 10 sec or so) and by mistake left it recording. The file is now large but i didn't realise this until after i had downloaded it to my pc ( windows 7 ) latest itunes.
Is there a way i can get it back to my camera roll so i can crop it? I notice when i sync videos to the albums on the phone, the option to crop is not there so i guess only camera roll allows cropping. please help, and thanks in advance Frazer

I would just dial in to *86 and do it that way instead of going through the phone interface. Get to the main menu by dialing * or #, options from there should be 4,3,1

Audio and video out of sync after transfer to new computer

My son had 9 minutes of a stop motion video, including audio tracks nearly finished but we needed to move the project from his laptop to our imac desktop. Now when project plays the audio is distorted. When you preview the tracks in the edit window, they sound fine, but when you play the whole project all audio clips stutter. Any ideas how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Depending on the speed of your computer, the project's audio may lag during real time playback. Have you tried exporting it to a DVD? Even if it didn't work well in iMovie it might still burn fine...

RAW FILES NOT LARGE AFTER OUTSOURCING LR SMART PREVIEWS : images staying at Smart Preview sizes. What is wrong?

My friend's RAW files won't go back to the large size they were after outsourcing LR SMART PREVIEWS to outsource editor.
what went wrong? When she sent the files to the outsourcer they were NOT zipped together.
They were ZIPPED back to her however.

Describe exactly what steps were taken. It doesn't make sense that the editor sent her smart previews. Normally she would do Export to Catalog, checking the box to include smart previews, and send this exported catalogue and its smart previews to the editor. The editor would then send the catalogue back to her (the smart previews are no longer needed), and she would do File > Import from Another Catalog.

File sizes too large help

hi everyone, im new in final cut pro and i was wondering why my video so larger size in after i export it (i use quick time conversion) for example, i did a test with my iphone 4 i shoot a video like 2 mins long 720p of course, the video size came to be 64 megabytes i put into final cut i played around with color correction a little bit i exported it again using quick time conversion an now that same video is over 300 megabytes why is this? am i doing something wrong when im exporting ?? any step by step guide on how to export hd without having too big of a file size and still maintain hd quality. please help

There are many different codecs available, which can dramatically vary the size and quality of video. When you do "Export using Quicktime conversion", you need to check what video codec you're using.
Can you explain what you eventually want to do with your video? (eg, put it online, for example) This will determine the best codecs to use for export. Also, FCP has several "quick" exports available via the File - Share menu (rather than doing a Quicktime export) which may be of use to you (eg, there's a Youtube export preset).

Using a function to change Netstream video size.

Hi folks,
forgive me I am new to script in Flex. I got an Application that has two scripted functions. The first is called at creationComplete and sets up a netconnect/netstream video playback. And a second that is fired when a button is clicked, which sets the application to Full Screen. What I want to do is resize the video at the same time. For testing purpose I am using hard coded values that match my monitor size.
The problem I am having is that the code I wrote to change the video size spits out an error "1120: Access of undefined property vid." - Is it possible to have one function access the vairibles of another function?

Out of range output video size ?

Hello,
I would like to use a camera which has a large output size, more than 1920x1080.
When I select the camera, I've a message :
Out of range output video size
One or more output video width and height are out of range. Please provide video size in range 80x60 to 1920x1080.
Is it a limitation of FMLE or FMS ? (I think it's FMLE because the message appears even if the "save to file" is the only publishing format selected)
Is there a way to edit a confugration file to remove this limit ?

why don't you change that background to what you want in desktop system preferences when the second monitor is connected? different monitors have different desktop backgrounds and they remember the settings from the last time they were connected.

How do you increase the video size with a button?

I'm trying to set up a demo for a meeting. I want to show how
you can increase the size of the video.

There are two buttons in the bottom right corner of the

I havn't tried this but I would thinkg that this could work:
If you have a video object on your stage (the object that the video
actually plays in) you could probably make a button that simply
changes the dimensions of it such as:
setProperty("theVideoPlayer",_height, 240);
setProperty("theVideoPlayer",_width, 320);
The movie should adjust to fit the screen, however if you
make the movie larger than or a different aspect ratio than the
original, it will be blurred or distorted respectively. Make your
original movie, therefore, at the largest size you want it to be
seen. Keep the aspect ration the same always.

Okay, I figured out that Windows has "AutoPlay" settings which can automatically download photos and videos from a newly connected device, such as an iPad Mini. I think I could open it in Windows Explorer too that way but the auto download solved my problem.

Maximum Video Size in Flash??

Hello,
I'm currently working on a website design. The idea is a big chromakeyed interactive video in Flash. The size of the video is 1080 (width) x 1500 (height) pixels.
I've exported the video in After Effects with the standard settings for flash (File>Export>Adobe Flash Player(SWF)). Now when I import the video in Flash and preview the file, the video plays in a slower speed and it's not playing smooth at all...
Is the video too big? Is there a maximum video-size to keep the video running correct in Flash? Is it something else that causes this problem..???

Could be a mismatch of frame rates. For example, if you are using 30 fps in AE and 24 in Flash, and then you embed the video into the time line, it will play at 24 fps, slow and jerky.
However if the video file was a .flv and you played the video by NetStream or FLVPlayback, it would playback at 30 fps, even if the Flash doc had a fps of 24.
If that doesn't fix it, try exporting the file from AE as an flv.

Is there a final video size limit or restriction when rendering a composition?

Im a self thought After effect user, so I might not know the exact terms that I need to use for my question. I need to create a video thats is in its final size 1080x3840 px. This is being used in a two screen setup and being played by a single player that splits this on video into the two screens without having to create two separate videos. I can create the composition size to the pixels needed but when I render the video it automatically refers the video to 1080x1920 px which is the size of only one screen. When this render happens the top and bottom of the video get cut off. I have create the final video to 3840x1080 px but this is not what works for the set up. Does After Effects have a height limit when it comes to the final output of the composition? If it does, can it be unlocked so i can create the final 1080x3840 px? Do I need to use an other program to accomplish this, anything would help. The codec I'm using is H.264 at a 10 Mbps. Thank you

Well what i got from them is that they need the the file to be on H.264 codec at 10-15 Mbps at the size of 3840x1080 px. It would be played by one player that uses the H.264 codec. All i need is to be able to do is to output the final video to the size they are asking since everything else works fine. I want to know if i could make the final video size in After Effects or if I have to switch the layout to 1080x3480 px since that has no restrains and then bring it into another program. I have done multiple video files for them and the work fine but they are not to the size they need since every time I render the composition it crops it from 3840x1080 px to 1920x1080 px leaving the the top and bottom of the video out completely.

I am at a loss for trying to author a project using Adobe Encore. I first tried to author the project using version CS2. When attempting to export I received the following message:
"The estimated project size is larger than the target media chosen. While this is an estimate, the project may fail to build."
I have authored hundereds of projects in the past, but have never received that message before. I first thought that the problem was with the version of Encore I was using, but I received the exact same error when trying to author the project with Encore CS5.
The project itself has one menu, a motion menu, and one video file. The video file last 152 minutes, and I was attempting to export that to a dual layer DVD. I have since tried exporting the file using Adobe Premier CS5.5 using a variety of settings. I am trying to export it to a DVD-2 file, with the match soure attributes being set to the highest setting. The setting on the main concept MPEG encoder is set to 5. I have tried exporting the file using both constant and varaible bit rates.
When I recently exported the file using a contant bit rate of 6.5, I still had 650.4 MB remaining on my Encore project. I still received the same error about the project size, and so I am thinking that something else is wrong.
I have even exported the video file as an uncompressed AVI file, and then tried encoding it again using both Adobe Premier CS5.5 and the Adobe Encoder. I still get the same error message about file size.
Any help and/or suggestions about how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Using the Imgburn product worked! It also helped me figure out what the real problem was...
As it turns out, some single-layer DVDs had been mixed in with my dual-layer DVDs. I feel very foolish about this. All of my discs are printable, and so there is no indication written as far as what their capacity is on them.
Encore can be a bit vague in identifying a problem such as this. For example, I can set the settings to plan for a dual-layer disc, and it will display a graphical status indicator with that capacity in mind. When I saw the original file message error I honestly believed that there was a problem with the encoded file instead of the type of disc itself.
Imgburn instantly displayed the discrepancy in the type of disc I had loaded and the needed capacity for the type of project that I was trying to create.

Join video with diferent video size

Hi, I have this problem, I use QuickTime Pro to join clips in one large/single Mp4 file, some clips have diferent video size and when you join them a white space appears in the video, this example is from ''Peter Ganriel - Play The Videos: http://www.vendocasalasaguilas.com/QuickTime.JPG
What I need is how to center the video and dissapear or convert the white space in black space
Anothe question: when I play a Mp4 in QuickTime in MAC and then the same Mp4 in PC I see a lot of diferent in video quality, in MAC is much better the video quality, my question is there something to do to improve the video quality in PC or not.

Open the Movie Properties window and single click on a video track to highlight.
In the lower half of the window click the "Visual Settings" tab.
This is where you adjust dimensions, offset and track layers. Make either one track smaller or the other larger to help "align" them.
Default add uses an offset of 0,0 (upper left).
