Video sound with no audio clip

I want to be able to listen to the audio in my video clip. When I export it to any movie, it plays the movie silently. When I add an audio track it plays the video along with the music, but anything said in the video is silent. Is there a setting where I can change this? Thank you so much for you help.
Mike

I have the same camera Canon FS100 (it was on sale)
It took quite a while, but I found that "Super" would create a workable file for use with Premiere Pro CS4.
Super   v2009.bld.35
www.erightsoft.com/super.html
There are possibly many ways to do it.
One I found that worked well was to save it as
mpg...    Mpeg-II...   mp2
use FFmpeg
720:480
16:9
29.97
48000
256
you may also try
http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html
I looked at it - but I havn't tryed it yet.
And P Pro CS4 was then able to edit the file.
The issue is that the audio is AC-3  Dolby Digital
and so far I can't get it to work with Ppro?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ac3
PS if anyone knows of a better way to save the output files please let us know.
I tried 100s of combinations to find one that worked.
I don't claim that it is the best.
I was just very happy to be able to use the software I played big bucks for and the camera I (already had)
If I had bunches of extra money and an old tux laying around I would buy a better camera.....
But for now it is the best I can afford.
And I am enjoying learning the Adobe CS4 collection of software.
It gives me something to do while I look for work.
Good luck with your camera,
Steve

  • No sound from some audio clips suddenly

    Made a 55min movie from multiple video clips and narrated with several audio recordings and added music tracks as well, suddenly some audio clips after the first 30 mins show up blank, when viewing audio waves and their volumes are set fine. Other audio clisp in between works fine thou.
    Found this after having exported and shared to iDVD, Audio wave files and Media files seems fine in the project folder/content. what happened and have could I possible recap output from these clips again?
    BTW HD ***** on sound facility and sometimes disstores sounds during playback when a project gets too large, sometime after saving project and emptying trash, it might work again for a while
    Googled around for few days now with out any solutions, any hints?

    Hi stefw,
    I assume you've already done the following:
    (1) Make sure the audio checkbox is selected for the track you want to hear. The audio checkbox is to the right of each track in the timeline viewer.
    (2) If the audio checkbox is selected, then choose View > Show Clip Volume Levels and see if the audio levels for the tracks are set to a level that can be heard"
    If so, this is what I'd try.....with your project open, start an new, empty project. Go to the original project and copy one of the clips (highlight it and then FILE....COPY.) Go to the other project and click in the second line of the timeline and click FILE...PASTE. Make sure the audio checkbox (on the far right) is selected for that line and attempt to play it in the new project. If it works, drag it back into your original project and try it from there.
    If that doesn't work, look for the. aiff files in the original project file in Finder (find the file, right click, choose "Show Package contents", then look in the media folder.) Drag that file into the new project and attempt to play it. If it works, drag it back into your original project and try it there.
    Hope it works out for you.

  • Playlists don't work with separate audio clips

    I have a timeline with 8 different clips and chapter playlists set up to play each clip individually and to play them in pairs.  This works fine.
    But when I add audio to the timeline it goes wrong. I have 8 different audio clips that match up with the video clips.  If I view the timeline itself, everything is OK.  If I view the first clip's playlist (with the first audio clip) it also works OK.  But if I view any of the other playlists, the DVD (and previewer) return me back to the menu as soon as the audio track starts (this is the end action). If I delete any of the audio tracks, the playlists for those videos work fine again.
    I also see similar behaviour on another timeline where a second audio clip starts midway: the chapter immediately before the new audio track is skipped in a playlist and the DVD plays the subsequent chapter (there are many chapters on that timeline).
    The only solution I've come up with is to burn a DVD with no audio, rip the video, line up the audio tracks I want to use with the video, export them all in one big file and then add that single clip into Encore.  It's not really something I want to do, to be honest.
    Is there any explanation for this strange behaviour, or is it another bug?
    Thanks for any help or pointers towards sorting this out.

    I'm with Neil on the 8 separate Timelines. There are pitfalls to grouping multiple Clips onto one Timeline, and even an Audio Unit's difference in Duration can cause issues.
    If you do go with the discrete Timelines workflow, you'll just do Playlists, and not Chapter Playlists instead.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Two-way video chat with other (audio-only) participants?

    Is it possible to have a five-way chat in iChat with
    . - myself and one other participant via video, and
    . - three other participants via audio only?
    I know there's an option for one-way video conferencing, where only one person in a conference has video and the other(s?) have audio, but what about two with video and the others with audio?
    And if we did this, could the three audio participants see the two video participants even if the three don't participate via video?

    Hi,
    You can start A One Way Video chat with a Buddy without a Camera.
    You can add others up to the standard 4 people (you and three others) and some can be audio Only.
    You do have to have a Mac of a G4/1Ghz dual or above and have a Upload speed of 256 k at the very Least (Apple Specs say 384k) although more is preferable when you are Host.
    Ideally the Host should be the fastest Mac with the fastest connection.
    Invite Camera able Buddies first then Audio Only Buddies by clicking on the green A/V icon they are showing in the Buddy list.

  • I cannot synch 24fps video footage with an audio .wav file. Is there a speed conversion factor?

    I inadvertantly shot a video interview with a new camera (Panasonic HVX 200) set at 24fps. Because of that, the camera wasn't getting an audio signal from the microphone so in a panic, I hauled out my trusty old Zoom H4Nex digital audio recorder and captured it that way. Now I cannot synch up the audio and video in FCP CC (MAC OSX 10.9.2). Clearly, the audio file is about 25% longer than the video file, however, I cannot find the exact factor to change the audio speed to create lip synch. It always ends up a little short or a little long. If you will point out the error of my ways - I will promise to never do THIS again!

    Thanks, Steven. But that's not it. Here's some new information:  The camera
    I was using (Panasonic HVX 200) had the frame rate set to 720 30pn.
    However, the "scene file" mistakenly applied listed 24fps. Premiere Pro
    thinks this footage is 29.97. Is it possible that it's actually 24fps and
    that's why it's about 25% shorter than the corresponding .wav file? If so,
    is there a way to "fool" Premiere Pro into slowing down the footage?
    Unless I'm off the mark completely. It's been known to happen.......

  • Imovie shaking with some audio clips

    I am putting together a slideshow of photos with music. The first two audio clips work fine, but when the third plays, the slides seem to shake (the counter runs slightly slower than normal). I erase the clip, added other clips, but still at this point I get shakiness. Any ideas?

    Hello, kuhlmac,
    Welcome to the discussions. If you do a search in the iMovie discussions for audio problems, you will find many posts addressing this common problem.
    Some of the problems with audio clips have to do with the format of the clip. iMovie seems to work best with AIFF clips and does not do so well if the music is in any other format. Some of us don't have too much problem, but mp3s can be a problem. Also, if the song has been purchased from iTunes Music Store, it may not play well in iMovie. If the song you are using is purchased, you will need to burn it to cd and reimport it to iTunes to get it usable in iMovie.
    I have also used WireTap to record the music I want in my iMovie and import the AIFC file that WireTap creates. If you want to explore what this app can do, look here

  • Adobe AIR Android + MediaPlayer: Video Plays with no Audio

    I am trying to play a video in my Adobe AIR Android App. I can't seem to get the video to play with audio in the application. I can get the audio to play in the native players on both my Samsung Galay and my Asus Transformer outside of my app, but when I load the video using StageVideo, the audio doesn't play at all.
    I tried just launching the video into the navtive browser or using StageWebView but that doesn't work either.
    I am a bit at a loss and need some advice.
    Here's the code below.
    MediaPlayerExample:
    var resource:URLResource = new URLResource(videoPath);
    container = new MediaContainer();
    addChild(container);
    container.y = this.headerHeight;
    videoElement =  new VideoElement(resource);
    videoElement.smoothing = true;
    container.addMediaElement(videoElement);
    container.width = this.stage.stageWidth;
    container.height = this.stage.stageHeight;
    mediaPlayer = new MediaPlayer();
    mediaPlayer.media = videoElement;
    mediaPlayer.addEventListener(TimeEvent.CURRENT_TIME_CHANGE, this._onProgress);
    this.videoHeader = new VideoHeader(this.stage.stageWidth);
    this.addChild(this.videoHeader);
    Any help would be great!

    Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
    See:iPod plays video but not audio.
    You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
    See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • Why does this applet (with an audio clip) fail to load in a browser?

    Hello Java Experts.
    I am able to compile and run the applet in an IDE. The problem lies when I attempt to run the applet through a browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.). The entire applet fails to load (in the browser) when it includes code pertaining to audio clips, but works fine when it does not contain audio clip related code.
    Here is a Short, Self Contained, Compilable, Example that illustrates my problem:
    import javax.swing.*;  //  Required libraries
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    public class Music extends JApplet  //  Music class is a subclass of the JApplet class
        AudioClip music;
        public void init ()
            music = getAudioClip (getCodeBase (), "sample.wav");  //  You may use your own audio file
            music.loop();
        public void paint (Graphics g)
            g.setColor (Color.blue);
            g.fillRect (0, 0, 800, 600);  //  THIS RECTANGLE IS NOT DRAWN (this is my test to see if the applet loads in the browser)
    }Please try to run this applet in a browser so that you can point me to my mistake(s).
    Thanks for the help in advance.

    Here is a Short, Self Contained, Compilable, Example that illustrates my problem:>The 'example' part of it, fails to manifest here. Using that exact code, I was able to see a blue rectangle in both AppletViewer and FF. You might try..
    1) Configuring the Java Console to open for applets by default - look in it for error messages.
    2) Change the name of the WAV to something that definitely +does not exist+ at the code base. (That would most closely replicate my own testing experience - since there is no WAV available here).

  • One sequence or 8 sequences...Creating a slideshow with 8 audio clips

    I am creating a school yearend slideshow...using 8 audio clips ..in total ...about 18 min. long.
    Should I be using 8 sequences...one for each song...or would it be easier to create just one sequence and have 8 tracks for audio clip.
    I am new to FCE so it has to be simple ...for now.

    For project like this, I usually just edit in one Sequence.

  • Images with attached audio clips and slideshows

    My old Minolta camera could save an audio WAV file with an image, but I've never been successful in using the audio file (same name as the image) in iPhoto.  I'm just starting out playing with Aperature 3 and see that I can import these easily.  However, when I try to make a slideshow, some of the clips need to be trimmed for length, noise, etc.  In the Info Inspector I can easily 'trim' the clip to what I want, but I don't seem to be able to do anything with it.  When setting up the slideshow, I can see all the WAV files when I click on the Music Note button, the edited clip length shows, and plays as it did in the Info Inspector.  But when dragging the file to the correct image in the slideshow, only the original WAV file gets used and not the trimmed one.  I suppose I can make the original files work by fiddling with the secondary audio strip by fading in and truncating, but why can't I just use the new metadata?  This make any sense to anyone and can anyone help this beginner?  Thanks

  • After exporting on FCP, quicktime video freezes with perfect audio.

    First off, this is my first video I've exported with FCP.
    I made the video, edited and everything with no problem. When I exported, however, a 10 second clip would turn every color of the rainbow and flash, but the audio was perfect.
    After researching a little bit I used compressor and it somewhat solved my problem. It went from colors, to freezing. Again the audio is fine but the video freezes for the duration of the clip.
    I'm lost at this point.
    Thanks!

    Without any information regarding original material codec, seqence settings (codec) and output format (codec), it's just generally useless guesswork.

  • Video plays with no audio in Keynote

    [FOLKS: please disregard this question. I couldn't find the answer I needed when I searched which is why I posted. However, after posting, the "related questions" actually had one that fixed it. For future reference, it's this one. Thanks anyway.]
    I have a new iPad2 and just got Keynote. My main desktop is a PC. I moved a Powerpoint file over to the iPad, but the movies wouldn't play because they were WMV files.
    OK, so I used Handbrake to convert them to M4V, and imported them on the iPad. Great so far.
    I go to "Media/ipad movies" and the videos are there. If I play them in the preview mode, they work fine. But when I actually stick one in a slide in the presentaion itself, it plays fine, but there's no sound!
    I thought it might be something I did in converting, but since it plays in preview, I'm baffled. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Found the answer elsewhere and it worked for me!
    I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
    -Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
    -About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
    -Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
    My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things.  Hope it works for you.
