Video stalls when I stream TV shows on safari.

I was watching TV shows online without any difficulty last week. Now it always seems to time out on me. I've cleared my history, emptied the cache and have reinstalled flash. It now seems even worse.
I checked Activity monitor with help from the forum. CPU usage is way low, with over 90% idle. When I look at system memory tab, I usually have at least 1.8 GB free.
The problem seems to be the speed of the data being sent to me. Disk activity is also way, way low with nothing being read per sec. (probably due to a stall at time of writing this) The total amount of data read is about 1 GB. When I check the network tab, my data received info is showing only up to 400 kb/sec at a peak, usually much much slower. I've been waiting 10 minutes for TV to start streaming and the file is stuck at 27% completed so probably has stalled.
Could this be a problem with my network connection? Don't know why I'm having trouble now when there has been no trouble in the past. I'm using a wireless network so no ethernet. The signal seems strong but I'm very confused at this point. Any ideas????

Try running Safari in 32-bit mode and see if that makes a difference when visiting sites that stream Flash content.
Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
Relaunch Safari...

Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I have installed the 64 bit iTunes for my laptop, downloads the tv show just fine, when I click to watch it, the timer counts down, but there is no video or audio. Anyone have a clue about this?

Ok, I answered my own question. I did not think of the connection between iTunes and Quicktime....DUH!! They both install at the same time and both are Apple products. I got to thinking that I changed the speaker configuration in Quicktime to 5.1 channels, which turns out doesn't work so hot for 2 channel videos in iTunes! I put it back to 2 channels and it works again!

T40 video crashes when overloaded, won't show on reboot until it cools off (NOT GPU solder?)

Problem: If this T40 boots up successfully, there would be no problem with light to moderate use even for a long time. But, once it's warm and it's put into standby or rebooted, then it wouldn't boot up (or wake up from standby) unless it has cooled off for about 10 minutes. When it wouldn't boot up, the display would be blank with the backlight on. It also 'crashed' during PC-Doctor 3D video tests.
This doesn't seem to be a GPU solder connection issue as it's not affected by pushing down the GPU. It does have a short fan though. Is it a bad or stuck temp sensor or something like that?
More details...
I bought a T40 for a friend and during unattended XP install:
- the video blanked out (with backlight on) and there was no activity
- forced a shutdown (held down the power button)
- turned it back on and there was a few secs of HDD blinks but then nothing and no display
- turned it off and on a few times, same problem
- turned it off and waited for about 10 minutes
- turned it on, all is normal now
After I was able to finish the XP install, I ran PC-Doctor video test:
- it passed memory tests
- it blanked out (backlight on) during the 3D generation tests
- forced a shutdown
- turned it on and no display/activity (backlight is on)
- had to wait about 10 minutes before I could turn it on again to boot up
I re-installed XP and was able to finish the second install with no issue. If it boots up successfully, there would be no problem with light to moderate use even for a long time.
** But, if it's warm and I put it into standby or reboot it, then it wouldn't boot (or wake up from standby) unless I let it cool off for about 10 minutes. ***
I installed and configured tpfancontrol at a slightly more aggressive (noisier) setting to keep the GPU cooler even though it's doesn't have a heat sink.
As noted above, I pushed down the GPU but that didn't do anything. Any thoughts?

Your T40's GPU may or may not have the "loose" problem, but the issue is definitely there, my guess would be that the card itself is failing.
Just had a planar swapped on one of my T43s due to a very similar scenario...

Mid 2011 mbp i7 with a SSD has problems, including grey screen/blue screen/beeping/freezing when I stream live video (i.e. watch espn or time warner cable) Help? Ideas?

Recently my Macbook Pro (June 2011, i7, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, AMD Radeon 6750, Mountain Lion - since July - currently 10.8.2) has been presenting me with an array of problems, usually initiated when I am streaming live video. I was streaming Time Warner Cable on 12/9 and it gave me what looked like the blue screen of death. It started up after about five attempts that time. The other day, after about a week of not using the computer, it wouldn't boot past the grey screen. I (option) started it and it gave me two boot choices, the regular HD and a "10.8 restore" option. The HD gave me the grey screen and the restore option gave me the dark blue screen. I reset PRAM and that didn't work. After a force (x) start it worked. Today, I was using "Watch ESPN" and the screen froze and the computer did some kind of repeating RAM beep or something. I rebooted and it started up fine. I'm not watching any videos anymore, but this is a problem since the primary purpose for my mbp is video editing. I'm still under AppleCare but I find more solid answers in the forums or at least better questions for the AppleCare people.
Anybody have similar experiences, or a solid idea of what the heck has happened to my machine?

I'm not really sure what method that person was talking about. I just read he had a successful install so I posted it.
But I'll hazard a guess
1. copy your entire drive to a backup drive
2. boot into that drive and test it out - make sure its a flawless backup, it works, and the hard drive has no problems
3. eject that drive, disconnect it and reboot into the leopard install dvd
4. erase your main hard drive using disc utilities on the leopard install dvd -- you've made a backup, made sure that backup was good, and disconnected it so it's currently safely disconnected from the leopard install you're about to do. Also, on the hard drive you're erasing and installing leopard on to, many people recommend "Zeroing" it as well as erasing it. That option is part of the erase function in disc utilities on the leopard install disc.
5. do a clean install of leopard
6. follow step 4 from that original post exactly as that person described to do.
7. read the rest of what they said
That's pretty much it. With the backup/erase/clean install/import/ you pretty much get everything you need exactly the way you want it with very few things missing -- and you've done this over a clean install. Plus that poster did mention that you can select what you want to import from your backup hard drive.
It sounds like its a "clean install" method that gives you control via "import from machine" option in the installer. Control over what parts of your "old mac" you want to import into your "new leopard mac".
Hopefully that helps. It sounds more involved, but its actually pretty quick and provides you with a perfectly save backup in case anything goes wrong with the leopard install.

I too have the same problem. The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video. Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a joke, my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well. at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues. Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!, there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

When i stream from mac mini to apple tv the video jerks

I have a Mac Mini and a 2ed gen Apple TV , when I stream from the mac to the Apple TV the video jerks and some time frezes, I have checked the WiFi and the Internet all are strong, streaming from my Iphone and Ipad are great. what am i doing wrong

...or it could be caused by Apple crap. I'm having the same problem. On a WIRED connection from my MacMini to an Apple TV. The network runs fine with my Windows laptop and iPad. Video streams nicely from my iPad on WiFi, but lots of jerkiness when I watch a movie from my MacMini via Apple TV, regardless of whether I'm on WiFi or wired.
Doesn't take much to work out that the problem is with the MacMini and/or Yosemite. I'm also having problems with my Internet connection slowing or cutting out intermittently, so I wonder if they're connected.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

Shared Photo Stream not showing video on Mac

I can now see videos in my shared Photo Stream using IOS7 so that seems to be working fine. I can also see the video when viewing the public website for the shared Photo Stream. However, for the same shared Photo Stream I cannot see the video on my Mac using iPhoto. Is that supposed to work now too?

My Photo Stream supports JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and most RAW photo formats. My Photo Stream does not work with video.
Wherer are you seeing that it is supported?
I do see some editorial material indicating that it is and in those there is no mention o fthe Ma - only IOS 7 and Apple TV version 6

Videos freezing when streaming from router

When i stream higher resolution videos to my TV or PC, from the usb stick attached to my router(linksys EA4500). The videos freeze, then playes again, then freeze, etc. I have no problem with lower res. videos or music. Could there be a firmware update to solve this problem, or is it a hardware issue?

I see. It is better to connect your TV to the 5 ghz network if the TV can see it. 5 ghz is designed for video streaming. Since your accesing or viewing high resolution vidoes from the Virtual USB, the TV should be connected to that network. What firmware are you using? Are you using the Classic Firmware or the Cloud Firmware?

Need help - chronic freezeups when playing streaming flashplayer videos.:

I am having a chronic problem with repeated freezeups of flashplayer videos that are being streamed online where the video repeatedly and randomly locks up for a moment, and then jumps forward to catch up to where it's supposed to be again and again, with no regularity or pattern to it at all. It doesn't matter which video it is; it doesn't matter where along a video's playback it is; it doesn't matter which website it is. This problem happens at any time of day, and every single day, at random, regardless. I've tried everything including reinstalling my Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system from scratch, and then trying streaming flashplayer videos before reinstalling any other software again first - no help. I tried streaming in Safe Mode; disabling all browser addons; disabling all startup executables; disabling my internet protection software entirely, each in turn - no help. I always keep Flashplayer, Shockwave player, and Adobe Reader up to date, along with the rest of my PC via Microsoft Windows Update, and any other updates that apply, but I even tried older versions of drivers as well as the very newest ones - no help. I tried streaming using different video cards - no help. I tried using an ethernet connection and then a wireless one, separately in turn, as well as connecting to a different network - no help. I also have Mozilla's Firefox browser installed and fully up to date - the exact same random, constant freezeup problem streaming flashplayer videos happens when using it as when using Internet Explorer. These freezeups act like the incoming internet stream's feed runs ahead of flashplayer's memory management (rendering?) of it, causing these momentary freezeups while flashplayer buffers, and then jumps forward to catch up again each time. Please contact me back and provide a corrected update(s) of flashplayer to download so as to play streaming flashplayer videos without this ongoing conflict.
