Video Sticks After Rendering

Good evening all,
Hoping one of the many pros here can assist me with a new problem I've encountered?
I have been using my copy of Final Cut Express 4 HD heavily for a couple of years on an Early 2008 Mac Pro (I believe OS 10.9.4) without any trouble. I have since upgraded to the latest Mac Pro (black cylinder) with Yosemite OS installed.
Today, I loaded Final Cut Express 4 HD without any trouble however I noticed the general interface performance was slightly sluggish. Despite that, I imported several GoPro video files and previewed, which played fine. However, after dropping into the timeline and rendering, the footage would play audio fine but the video would stick on two frames going back and forth like a terrible GIF.
Does anybody know how I can fix this, or if this is due to being incompatible with Yosemite? Hope it can be fixed, as iMovie is terrible!!!

The Viewer window can play just about anything - much like playing in QuickTime Pro.  However, once you drop a clip on the Timeline, if it doesn't match the Sequence settings there will be problems ... and as you found out, sometimes even after you render.
I usually use Compressor, MPEG Streamclip or QuickTIme Pro to convert.

  • Video "Hits" After Rendering

After I render a piece of my timeline and look at it on our studio monitor, I'm getting a good amount of what I would call "hits" in the video, like hits you would see on an old tape that's past its prime. The timeline has a number of graphics layered on top of one another with text and moving jpegs, with a broadcast safe filter on everything.
I've had weird things appear after rendering before, but they've always gone away after rerendering. This time they're pretty consistently in the same spots.
Any ideas about settings I should look into or other work arounds?

I have seen this on several occasions and there seem to be a few causes.
    possibilities:
    1) you are using the Broadcast safe filter, if the clipping on your images are extreme you get strange green and white artifacts after rendering. Try using the 3-way color corrector to bring levels down before applying the BS filter. Or if the artifacts are occurring on graphics, make adjustments in Photoshop (or whatever program you created the graphics in) and bring them back into FCP. A lot of people create graphics using the full range of RGB colors and luminance values. NTSC video does not have as large of a chroma and luma range as RGB.
    2) You are working in an uncompressed 10-bit sequence and applying filters that are not compatible (for lack of a better word) with Apple's 10-bit codec. (Or you are just getting random render problems in 10-bit). I have had many, many render issues in 10-bit that went away by switching to 8-bit. In most cases you can't really see much difference between 8 and 10 bit video anyway, so why go through the hassle or working with it. If you are doing a lot of green screen work, you may want to reevaluate this argument.
I'm sure there are other possible causes for the problems you're experiencing, but these are the ones I've run into in the past.
Graeme Nattress knows a lot about 10-bit issues in FCP, perhaps he can chime in with some suggestions/explanations.

  • My HD video lagging after rendering it.

I have a source video file in m2ts format with resolution 1440x1080 that I edited in another software and then I load it into AE to applied some effects and when I am rendering it and play it in a media player it lagging thru almost the hole video. The only thing that doesn´t lagg is the effects created in AE. What is the problem to all that? My computer is new with 6gb ram, ati radeon 2gb ram dual gpu and CPU Intel i7. Im kind a new to render in HD and has never rendering any HD projects yet (this is my first). I also tried different HD ouput format but it doesn´t help. The format I want to have it in is MPEG2 Blu-Ray. I am useing AE CS4.

Well, to what specs are you rendering? I hope you are not using the default Lossless output, which is uncompressed. Even the juiciest computer can't play that in realtime. The number of effects etc. don't have anything to do with that. M2TS is compressed, so naturally you will have to chose a compressed format as well to get the same playback performance. MPEG-2 BD would definitely work and AE spits it out (full version, noit trial), so try that. For desktop review, use H.264 or WMW or a compressed Quicktime format.

  • Poor video quality after rendering or publishing iMovie video - Problem?

After completing production of an iMovie video and then publishing it, the video quality is absolutely horrible. Is the normal or am I doing something wrong?

I hope the iMovie programming team at Apple is READING THESE POSTS, plus the other threads complaining of the lousy quality that results when interlaced video (480i or 1080i) is imported into iMovie '09 (even with all the recent updates). Various folks and e-book authors have posted workarounds, but these are cumbersome and defeat the entire purpose of iMovie -- which should be a simple and elegant video editing solution. Millions of users have interlaced video which they would like to edit (for you novices, you're affected if your video was shot on mini-DV tapes, or the HDV format -- plua many other non-tape formats also use interlaced video, so check your camera's specs).
Apple, PLEASE ADDRESS THIS GLARING FLAW in iMovie '09. It's absurd that iMovie 6/HD, which worked flawlessly with DV and HDV footage, is no longer supported. IMovie '09 has many great features, but what value are they if the end-product looks bad?

  • Crappy video quality after rendering

I have a video file that i exported out of Autodesk revit which has a resolution of 2,400 x 1350.  My Premire Pro 2 file is 720 x 480 because I want to be able to use encore to compile the video on to a dvd.  When I import the file into premire I have to scale it to view to get everything to fit, but when i export the video from premire and play it on the computer the quality is terrible.  What is going on?  Shouldn't it be really sharp since im shrinking a larger image?  What am I doing wrong?
    thanks

im installing all of the software but I cant get the "framserver" to work?  Does this work with older versions of Premiere Pro?  Im using PP 2.0.
    Thanks for the link.

  • Audio and video sticking and jumping after installing windows 8.1

    Hello,
    I have a HP Pavilion G6 - 2292sa
    The product no is C1Y93EA#ABU
I have recently upgraded my system from windows 8 to the windows 8.1 update. Since I updated my audio won't work properly at all. During random intervals when playing songs on itunes the song will jump and stick for a few seconds then continue playing with random jumps like this throught all the songs. When I watch a music video on youtube the audio does the same thing as it does in itunes as well as the video sticking and jumping. I have tried an audio fix I saw on the HP forums that suggested I delete the hd audio driver, hard reset then reinstall them but this didn't have any affect what so ever. This is a huge problem since I can't watch netflix, listen to songs or pretty much do anything media related.
Any help you could give would be really apreciated.

  • PE7 - stop video from running after rendering text titles

    Hi gang,
When I add manual "sub-titles"  aka text titles to my videos, it works best when I render them as I'm going along with the ENTER key.    That's fine but the video then wants to KEEP start playing from the start and that's driving me bananas.  Can I turn this off?
Sorry, if this has been mentioned before.
    cheerio
    Petey

    Hi Hunt,
Indeed, I would never want the video to playback automatically after rendering.
In PE7, it was exactly where you mentioned.
BTW - rearranging menus is part of the neverending game, that drives us all constant upgraders completey bonkers!!!  Just like how AVI export dissappeared and reappeared into SHARE in PE 7.   What a nomad! hehe
    cheerio!

  • After rendering, video track turns a solid green?

Using FCE 3.5, after rendering video, the audio track works, but the video track is all just a solid green frame.  No video whatesover, only green.  Any ideas on how to fix this???  Thanks so much.

First, what effect(s) are you applying?  Are there settings in the effect that might be turning the video green?  Are you trying to chroma key a green screen?
Also, details help.  Exactly what model Mac are you using?  What version of OS X?  What are your sequence settings?  What is the source of the video clip?  Clip properties?  Any other effects you are using on the same clip(s)?

  • After rendering, my video is playing back the wrong size.

After rendering my sequence changed to 1440 x 1080 instead of 1920 x 1080. I am unable to change this in sequence settings. Help please?

"Creative Cloud with all the current updates" is not enough information; please report the exact version number displayed in the About Premiere Pro dialog. If it turns out that you're on 7.1, they you might be hitting the bug discussed in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5826830#5826830.
I'm not clear on what exactly the problem is. Is it that the video appears squeezed in the horizontal dimension during playback? Or did the sequence's dimensions actually get changed?
What are the Program Monitor's Zoom Level and Playback Resolution?
What are the sequence settings? (a screenshot of the Sequence Settings dialog would help.)
Do you have GPU acceleration enabled? If so, please try switching the Renderer to Software Only and see if the problem persists.

  • I am having trouble rendering a video in After Effects CS6

I am having trouble rendering a video in After Effects CS6. My video is only 12 seconds long. I am using the "Ray-Trace" feature". Whenever I try to render this video I get this error message.
Also, the text turns into a giant black boxy blob whenever I turn off the Ray-Trace effect.
    Somebody please help

That's a question for the Adobe forums.

I am useing FCE 2.  After rendering the video playback is jurky about 10 frames at a time.  Audio is fine.  What created the problem?

I had been working on the project for a few days. It is mostly pix and a couple videos. It has several scrolling text segments. Everything was going fine, then after a rendering a large scrolling text it started. It appears that it skips 12 frames each time as I'm  playing back.

  • Help after rendering when I'm mastering a small video segment is duplicated elsewhere in the timeline, apparently I do some movement

help after rendering when I'm mastering a small video segment is duplicated elsewhere in the timeline, apparently I do some movement

Shane is trying to find out if you're working with material that's not in a fcp friendly format, like h264.  It's also possible that your sequence is corrupt.  Create a new sequence with the same settings, make the old sequence active, select all (command-a) copy (command-c), make the new sequence active and paste (command-v)

  • Transformed video right edge stretched after rendering?

I have tried all kinds of things and searched forums.  I did find one guy who had the same issue on another forum, but no one had any answers.
First off, this is a project that I use every week, I just change out the clips and move keyframes around to match events in the videos.
I'm doing a super simple transform to make the entire video smaller so it reveals a graphic behind it.  It's worked for weeks, now after rendering the right edge of the video like expands (stretches) to the edge of the screen.  Again, it only looks this way after a render.  Before rendering, the motion is fine.
I have tried trashing all the renders.  I reset all key frames.  I even pulled a new clip in and started from scratched with the motion on that clip.
I'm going to try copying everything to a new sequence, but I doubt that will work.
I have probably had more problems with 10.0.4 than even version .1.
    Any ideas?

Never mind... I trashed my prefs and that seemed to fix it.  At least for now.

  • Scale of video in timeline changes after rendering

    Hi,
I hope someone can tell me why I'm having this problem: before rendering, my video is adjusted to the frame size in the monitor window. After rendering the video looks all squished at the bottom. The scale and position are off. This has never happened before and I can't figure it out. Help?

Ok, thanks to Eddie Lotter, I now know how to paste in pictures, that's a start.
    So, before I render
    After
So there you go. In a nutshell, that's the problem I'm having.
