Video Stops and Go's
I've just added 2 gbs of ram to my iMac bringing the total ram to 4 gbs total. My iMac is running much better but I noticed when streaming video from the internet the sound is uninterupted but the video stops and go's. I have a cable internet connection so I don't think it's the bandwidth. Can my processor be the problem or is there a setting I can adjust to stream better? It seems that it isn't buffering the stream.

So perhaps it is a QuickTime setting?

I've got a fast computer w/plenty of ram. I can watch videos from all other sources perfectly smooth, including Quicktime HD movie trailers.
When I try to watch a video in iTunes it slows my computer down so much that besides the videos stopping and starting, my mouse won't even move smoothly.

One reason is that your internet connection is not fast enough to keep up with the video. You may find that when it gets to the end of the video and has fully downloaded, it will replay without stopping.

YYou tube and sky go stopped working properly from one day to the next. The videos stop and start every two minutes. There is a spinning icon next to the wifi icon when this happens. Why?
Well, ipad 1 has not got the best wifi. Your iPad may be lagging (because it's old) and can't cope with video playback. maybe it's time for a better ipad?

Buffered videos stop and start
I am trying to watch online video and tv. The video streaming stops and starts. It can be youtube, vimeo, or a television show online -- same poor result. I have a very slow connection. Knowing this, I always wait for the video to buffer -- there is always a greyed buffered bar well ahead of where I am watching. The video still stops and starts. Is this a connection issue or something else? Thanks.
T1 that is brutally slow, but I had hoped that despite how slow the connection is, the buffering would eventually get it downloaded. So even though its buffering, the slow T1 can still make the videos stop and start?

Some videos stop and go whats going on?
I have owned an iphone for a couple of weeks. It seems that often (or maybe always) when playing a video from apps and youtube, the video keeps stopping. If you keep pressing the play button, the video may play for a couple of seconds but then stops. This happens with my daughters iphone bought at the same time. What is happening?
Please Help ASAP...What's happening is the video is playing faster than it can be downloaded, so it stops often. The trick is to let your iPhone decide on when to start playing the video... it will start the video automatically when it determines that you can watch the entire video without stopping and waiting for the download to catchup.

Sometimes video streaming makes images stop and start every 2 minutes or so, and although it doesn't always happen the problem it's getting worse. Is there any way of fixing it? Thanks
Do a Speedtest, you need at least 4Mbps to stream nicely.

I had been having no problem watching videos online of recent TV shows. Now the video stops every time it comes to the built-in ads. Has an update of Firefox installed an ad blocker that's making it impossible for me to watch TV videos (of recent TV shows at the network websites) without getting stopped every time an ad comes on. If I jump ahead to a point AFTER the ads, then sometimes, it WILL play the ads so the ads aren't blocked "after the fact".
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Videos stopping and starting every three to five seconds
I am having problems downloading videos from U Tube and msn. I can't even download videos from the Apple Site. The videos from U Tube stop and start every 3 to 5 seconds. They resume after 3 to 5 seconds. I have downloaded the latest version of QuickTime. I have gone into preferences-advanced and changed the transport setup to custom; set transport protocol to http and post to 80. I have also clicked on the streaming tab; set the speed to one lower than the ISP connection and move th enable instant on slider 2-3 bars from the left. What else can I try?
There is currently no official version of MSN Messenger for Mac that supports video, unfortunately-- you might try aMSN instead, but I haven't used it myself so can't comment on the video support:

However, the built-in camera works fine for me on Skype (and Yahoo last time I tried, which was a while ago), which suggests something else might be wrong somewhere... -
When watching a podcast or tv program on itunes the video freezes and starts. The audio still flows just fine. Do you know what the solution might be?

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

What can I do to make downloaded videos work properly> Right now, they start and stop every few seconds.
Depending on the format of the video it may play better with VLC media player. VLC seems to play anything.
Of course if you're DLing while playing it is buffering.
