Video Streaming Issues

Hello,
I am experiencing some loading issues with slide videos in my project.  I am trying to determine if it is how I have the slide video setup, or if it's the environment some of our users are in.  To begin here is some further detail related to my video settings...
Format: F4V
Video Type: Progressive Download
Size: a range between 4MB to 15MB
Duration: 30 sec to 5 minutes
Inserted as: Slide Video
Hosted: Web Server
I have found that any user using a internet speed less than 2mbps is experience issues viewing the video.  Is there something I can do on my end by packaging the video differently, or is it the user's Internet speed?
Thank you for your time

Make sure your videos are only as big (height and width) as they need to be displayed in Captivate.
Check the bitrate at which the videos are encoded.  Try encoding them at 350 kpbs or lower to save bandwidth.
Even though your users are supposed to be on a 2mbps link, that DOES NOT mean you can encode your videos at this bitrate.  In all probability your users are on a shared link and they may not be actually getting 2 mbps.
Lastly, avoid having videos on the slides near the very beginning of your presentation.

  • Apple TV video streaming issue with EA4500

I am facing issues with my router EA4500 and my apple TV. When I am watching a video from my itunes library at my PC, sometimes stop palying waiting to receive data. Is that a way to conect my apple tv to my router to prioritize this video streaming from my PC to apple TV? Can someone help me? Do you have the port list for Apple TV?

I'm sorry if I confused you! Regarding the firmware version you currently have (2.0.37.131047) it shows that you are using the Classic firmware in which we would suggest that you upgrade it using the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Firmware. This Linksys Smart Wifi uses the latest firmware for your router that might help you fixed your problem. Click this link below where you can download the new firmware for yor
router. http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/EA4500----Can you tell me what version of apple tv you have? If your Apple Tv happens to be dual band then I would suggest that you connect to the 5ghz network because it can give you better video streaming capability. Yes you can choose which device you want to connect to the 2.4 or 5 ghz as long that device/s is dual band.

  • Trouble viewing online videos (streaming issue?)

Hello. I'm having trouble watching online videos. Video podcasts downloaded in iTunes are fine, but if for instance I want to watch a TV show online or a video clip from a news website, the picture is choppy and the sound breaks up. It's as if it isn't streaming properly (if that is the correct term). I have an original Macbook (2006), OSX10.4.11, 2 GHz Intel, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM if that helps anyone. My husband has the same computer, purchased at the same time, only his was the model with more memory (not sure how much at the moment). His works fine, though.
Also, not sure if this is related, but my computer has a tendency to spin (or make the noise as if it is spinning) randomly - sometimes for long periods of time.
Please any advice on how to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I am moving this question to another area. I see I posted it under Optical Drive

  • Video streaming issue after Kitkat upgrade

After updating all my media streaming (Hulu, Netflix, HBO Go, Xfinity, YouTube) in HD or higher quality is choppy/jittery either OTA or WiFi. If I change it to lower quality all video plays without issue. I've done a complete device reset three times without any change in performance.
Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix?

My next suggestion would be to add an app like My Data Manager to determine if there is a drain on your streaming or if you are working from video on your device an app that tracks processing power.  You should also check your rendering options.  Not sure all the options for playing with it but developer options is one choice.

  • Video Streaming Issue with Rolling Audio

I have several flash based lessons that I have created that are being distributed online to several companies.
Each lesson has a video that is played within the lesson through the flvplayback control. The videos were supplied by a third party and some of the videos are encoded at 384K and some are at 568K.
One company that is attempting to view the lessons is seeing the following behavior. The video plays for approximately 20 seconds then suddenly the video drops out and the audio continues to play. With the audio still playing the video scrubber rolls back and attempts to start the video again but all that comes through is the audio track again. Now there are 2 instances of the audio playing with no video. This happens a third time and finally keeps going until all the audio is played out.
The IT staff at the company has showed me a fiddler log that shows the flash player making a connection out to Akamai to retrieve the video and then rolling from port 80 to port 1935 and finally to port 443. This would explain the three audio tracks playing
I have read that the flash player will attempt to gather the stream from the stated rtmp location and then if it encounters an issue with a proxy or firewall it will attempt the other ports.
So I am not sure if there is anything I can do by design or programatically to alleviate this issue. It appears to me that the company attempting to view this video has some kind of bandwidth throttling program in place that is kicking off this behavior in the flash player.
Is it possible to prevent the flash player from making the three attempts? Would a sudden cut of bandwidth prompt the player to attempt to roll to another port if a network load balancing program suddenly kicked in? If it is bandwidth is that why the audio stream continues to play because there is enough bandwidth for the audio track to get through, but not the video?
I have attached a screen shot of the sniffer output so you can see the rolling ports thing.

As it turns out they do not allow traffic over the default rtmp ports. They do have a proxy server in place, but it does allow http tunneling. I had one of the users on their network hit the port testing page that adobe provides and hit laptop passed the test by allowing tunneling.
Incidentally it can be found here if you need it: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/164/tn_16466.html
I created a flash movie that had the flvplayback component in it streaming from one of the flv files I have on Akamai and it worked for the end user.
This was a little depressing because I was hoping I could simply blame his network and walk away .
I then changed the component in my lesson to specifically use tunneling and this worked for the end user with the video issue, but then caused issues for all the other companies viewing the lessons.
I believe they are using FP version 9.0.124.0 at this particular company and not unlike most places I have dealt with they tell me it is impossible to upgrade to FP10.
So I think what is happening is the scorm communications and the web service communications and the video and the load balancing software and the client side proxy server are all coming together to cause the issue.
It seems to me that it isn't an issue I can solve via changing publish settings or programmatically although I have been looking at the proxyType property of the NCManager for the flvplayback control to see if setting the fallback to CONNECT might solve the issue.

  • Video Streaming Issues in Mountain Lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I have been experiencing problems streaming video files to my Sony Bravia TV. Although I have seen other posts complaining about audio streaming, streaming via wifi, etc. I haven't seen any posts with exactly the same setup as mine.
I have a mid-2007 iMac and I have iSedora, a DLNA media server, installed and streams video over a LAN. My TV is connected using a Powerline setup, so that there are no issues with WiFi. With Mountain Lion, I have been experiencing stuttering video (and audio) when I watch film and TV video files which are located on my iMac. I have to keep pausing the stream to allow it to 'catch up'. Basic animation video is okay.
Initially, I thought that my iMac was 'too old', but it is able to cope with any transcoding as the CPU is not overwhelmed at all.
I have tried Serviio, but that also has the same problem, and as I have a NAS, I can also stream the same 'problematic' video files without any problems.
I only hope Apple can sort this 'bug' out, which seems to be limiting the output of the stream somehow, or I am seriously thinking about downgrading back to Lion, even though I like everything else about ML.
I haven't seen any workarounds, but would be willing to
    Paul

since upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion I am also experiencing strange text issues to the point that my 27" i5 iMac is unusable for any application requiring text input. Because of this problem I am doing most of my work these days on my iPad.
Basically what happens is that I will be typing text when suddenly the cursor will leap to another part of the preceding text and insert itself. If I don't catch this immediately any typing I do overwrites the text after the new re-insertion point. Other times the text will suddenly start scrolling or a section will select all by itself and then delete. This is happening with pretty much every application that has text capabiity.
My iMac has 12 GB of RAM. So that is not the problem. And I seem to be clean from malware. The problem started as soon as I upgraded to Mountain Lion. My 27" iMac which is my main computer is now for all intents and purposes useless. Every day I pray for OS updates. But so far nothing.

  • Synology DS410 to iPad 4 video streaming issues

As the title says, I have issues streaming from my Synology ds410 (with upgraded 1GB RAM) to iPad 4. Its kind of frustrating as I bought the iPad thinking I can do just this.
Setup and what I tried so far
All my movies are 1080p, sitting in the movie folder on the ds410
DSM is 4.1 and all software on both ds401 and other devices are the latest ones (no jailbarake)
The syndrom is that the movie playes for ca 10 sec, so stops for 2-3 and so starts again.. and so it goes..
Router is a Thompson TWG870 WIFI Modem, cant change this one as the ISP wont allow the usage of own routers.
On Ipad I have tried all the different video settings (quality, transcoding, remuxing) but no help. I have also tried GPlayer but it keeps crashing so no use.
    Any ideas, suggestions?
Anyone else who have managed to get something similar workig?
    Cheers,
    t
PS: Plex player is not an option as it cant be instaled on the ds410

Apple's Http Live Streaming spoecifications mention that for live streaming, client will start playing from the 3rd last segment in the playlist. So the expected latency should be around 3 times the media file duration. Keeping the media file duration too low has its own implications like too many media sgement requests to server, thereby clogging the network.

  • Video streaming issues with macbook pro

This is driving me crazy. When attempting to stream video, eg from youtube or netflix etc, the video will go along fine for some random amount of time and then start skipping and stuttering, both the sound and the picture. This can be cured at first by pausing and playing the video but eventually the audio gets a loud buzz and the only thing that fixes this is a restart. it's gotten to the point that I would have to restart 6 or 7 times to watch a movie. I noticed that when the audio gets to this quality that it effects all audio for the computer - alerts, itunes, everything. I don't think it's related to connection speed as I am on a T1 line and downloads are fast. Also - I have been getting more frequent kernel panics lately (about once a month). Any help? Thanks!

    For example:
According to this: http://www.cable-modem.net/broadbandarticles/comcastspeed.html T1 service providers offer 1.544 Mbps download and upload speeds and Comcast has long offered high-speed broadband connections with 6 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload speeds; but with the advent of DOCSIS 3.0 technology, Comcast cable modems can now access the Internet at wideband speeds as high as 50 Mbps at affordable prices.
You can see, download speed is not a big advantage of a T1 line.

  • Video Streaming Issues with FIOS

I have multiple ways of streaming to my TV.
    From my Computer:
    Verizon Media Manager
    Windows Media Center
    TVersity
    Through these devices
    Verizon Media Manager
    X-Box 360 Media Center
    X-Box 360 Video
    LG BD350 Blu Ray Player
When I first had Fios installed, I was able to stream perfectly from my computer through every combination above.
Note:  Streaming through Media Manager was the easiest, but with significantly less audio and video quality.
A few months ago everything stopped working.
Streaming through Media Manager became scattered
I was unable to connect my X-Box Media Center to my computer.  A few times that it did connect there was a 15 second lag after I press a button before it responds.  It also was unable to stream videos
Both my X-Box 360 and LG Blu Ray streaming stops and starts uncontrollably.
I had a service person come out and he reconnected my router wtih both the Coax and Ethernet, and for a while, everything worked as before..
Then suddenly a month ago, everything went bad again with the same symptoms I described above.
Verizon came out and replace my box, and again it started to work again.
Then the power in my house went out for a few minutes.  When everything powered back on, everything stopped working again.
As of now, i am still unable to stream videos
    My attempts to troubleshoot:
I swapped out several powerful computers, each with the same symptoms.
Turned off the firewall on the PC and Modem
    Rebooted the modem
    My speed test showed 35.89/2.00mps
    Any ideas?

verizon does not care!! after an incredible amount of calls to customer service and getting cut off or switched from one idiot to another and getting the same suggestions, "reboot, unplug, shutdown", etc. we've all heard these. service calls that take no less than a week to have them come and then they replace everything, again, 3 times so far since getting fios and 4th coming wed this week, yes, without service for the holiday!! my suggestion is to get rid of fios and go back to cable. the customer service cable companies offer alone is more than reason enough. verizon customer service does not exist, it sucks!! and they do not care!!!$$$$

  • Safari continuous authentication prompt and video streaming issue

    Hi All,
I have a user who is using Mac machines and reported that he is
not able to login into SharePoint 2013 production site and wants to upload
.mp4 media files. There are other users who are using iPad.
While logging using Safari browser and enter he his credentials, SharePoint authentication prompt continuously and freezes. After the video play icon is shown but video is not shown.
But using Chrome Browser he can login with only 1 authentication prompt, able to upload .mp4 files and able to stream the video as shown below:
SharePoint authentication is NTLM and chrome works perfectly fine for the user. But other users cannot view on Safari browser at all.

    Thanks Baba and others,
Before your reply with a MAC user and he was using Safari v.7.1.2.
I also received from some users about different browser Safari versions.
    Safari with: v6.x on OS X 10.8, v7.x on OS X v10.9
NOT working for users (watching .mp4 videos on SharePoint)
    Safari with:   v8.0 on OS X 10.10,Chrome v40.x  WORKING

Does SharePoint 2013 supports older safari versions like Safari v6.x, v7.x on OS X 10.8 and OS X 10.9.
I can test with users only next week as its holiday seasons here in Singapore.
