Video switching from interlace to progressive on render

We have a video 29.97 1920x1080i which we are running dynamic linked through after effects, and when we render the video out in premiere it is switching from interlace to progressive.
When the video, in the dynamic link is left un-rendered, we can see the fields in the video, they only disappear after render.
We have tried rendering into several different codecs, ProRes 422 (HQ) being our preferred codec.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

The issue is present, even on our external monitors. I just had a chat with customer support, it offered little help:

Blurry titles when exporting from interlaced to progressive?

I have a project which is DV PAL (720 x 576) and needs to be exported as a progressive H264 mpeg file. The video looks good in the export, but the titles are blurry. I just did a test and exported the project interlaced, and titles were fine. So the problem is clearly the transition from interlaced to progressive. Is there any way to get crisp titles in this situation?
Using Premiere CS6. Have tried exporting to progressive with several alterations to the title clips (reversing field order, always deinterlace) with the same result.

How about you create a new progressive sequence, and then copy paste all of the content of your current interlaced sequence into the new progressive sequence, and export from there. I haven't worked with interlaced footage for years so I don't know for sure if this will help or not, but since it's quick and easy to do, it's worth a try.

Interlace or Progressive when Authoring DVD's

Hi,
I'm wondering what I should set my Video Settings to:- Interlace or Progressive when creating Quicktime Movie Files, which I later intend to convert to Mpeg-2 for DVD authoring.
I was told that since Most TV's only accepted Interlace, I should use Interlace. Is this True?

Thanks for your reply. Actually my footage is from an Image Sequence that was Scanned from a Film Negative. I used Graphic Converter (comes with the Mac) to convert to a Quicktime Movie.
I recently tried it both ways - choosing 1. Progressive and 2.Interlaced. Both were then converted to MPeg-2 and viewed on a home TV. The Interlaced seemed better.
But I was wondering how / whether I could use Progressive...

Video playback – unable to use Progressive Download after update.

The most recent update to flash removed my ability to switch from streaming to progressive download. I've looking around in the settings for the program but can't seem to find any way to switch it back. Is there anything I can do?
I'm running Mac OSX Mavericks, if that helps.

Color gives progressive video instead of interlaced back to Final Cut

Hi. I'm just learning to use Color and I have a little problem with it. I have a XDCAM EX 1080i50 Final Cut sequence which I've sent to Color. After doing all the color corrections I told Color to send it back to Final Cut (after rendering of course) but the video is not interlaced anymore and it looks really bad progressive video. I don't really need progressive video because this goes to tv.
I have noticed that there is an option in Colors Setup to Deinterlace Renders and Previews but it is turned off and I have even tried to put interlace FX but it doesn't help either.
So how could I get Interlaced video out from Color?

Hi JP / Mikko,
I found a workaround for the de-interlace issue when you have lots of different scales/distorts/etc that you don't want to either bake in or remove and reapply.
- Prep sequence and send to Color (or export/import EDL) as usual (no need to remove scales/distorts/rotations as you may have done before).
- Leave P&S settings untouched and do your grade
- Save a "with P&S" archive of your project within Color
- Reset geometries on a clip, copy to all, save, close, reopen, scan through the sequence in the geometry room to confirm that none of the clips have a red border (rather than white), render grades.
- Then reload your "with P&S" archive within Color and send your sequence back to FCP (or export and import XML). On reloading the archive, Color will warn you that it will remove your renders, but this doesn't seem to be the case (maybe it refers to DPX or still sequence projects ... if you're scared you could always back them up or "hide" them and move them back)
You should then end up with a sequence in final cut with all your motion attributes and fields intact. We tried this on a 3x60 min programme with lots of 4:3 footage ARC'd in a 16:9 sequence and it worked perfectly.

No Mirroring in Ipad 2? I have IPAD2 and Apple Tv 4.3. I can airplay videos/music from Ipad2 to my HDTV via ATV, but I cant mirror it. When I select airplay to switch from Ipad2 to Apple TV, Mirroring does not show as an option. What am I missing?

Switched iPod Video format from PC to Mac - "Restore" fried my iPod

I bought an iPod Video 30gb in Dec. 05. I originally formatted it to work with my Dell PC Inspiron laptop. Everthing worked great and I didn't have any problems. About two months ago I bought a Macbook and transferred all of my files, including my music, from the former to the latter. I authorized my iPod on my Macbook and registered my Macbook to read all of the music I purchased on iTunes. So, I made the switch from PC to Mac without any problems and my iPod Video worked just fine without any issues. It synched my songs, etc.
Then, about 2 weeks ago I noticed that iTunes would not allow me to update the iPod software because the "Settings" screen that appears when I plugged my iPod into my Macbook said that it cannot update iPods that use the PC format. So, I read the instructions for switching the format of my iPod from PC to Mac and apparently all I had to do was select the "Restore" function in the Settings screen. I did so and it appeared that everything was OK. It erased my iPod, reformatted the software, and then downloaded all of my music.
The next day though the problems started. My iPod started to freeze up; none of the buttons worked and I had to reboot it to shut off the screen. Strangely though, it wouldn't rebott all the way because it didn't boot back up. I waited a few hours and pressed the middle and menu button to try to reboot it again and it worked, but the battery was completely drawn down. I recharged the battery, but the same thing happened again after listening to music for 10 minutes. The iPod froze up, wouldn't respond, wouldn't reboot, rebooted later with an almost dead battery, recharged it and started all over. I thought that perhaps doing the "Restore" function again would fix the problem. So, I "Restored" my iPod two more separate times. But, nothing has worked.
I took my iPod to the SoHo, NYC Apple store this morning and they had no idea what to do. To my extreme frustration, they kept on trying to tell me that there was something wrong with my battery. But, I repeatedly told them that everything was fine until I did the "Restore" function to change the format from PC to Mac. Has anyone heard of this problem? Is there anything that I can do?

see doing the following helps
For Mac computer
1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
seems it could be some bad sectors on the HD of your iPod, if the above does not solve, then do a Restore with a PC, and see what happen

Capturing video straight from a switcher to hard drive???

I am shooting a seminar this weekend and want to go "tapeless". I will be using a Datavideo SE500 switcher withthese outputs:
Video Out:
Composite Video x2, 1 Vpp @ 75 ohms, on BNC connectors
S-Video, on 4-Pin Connectors
Component Video, derived from Composite and Y/C using a breakout cable
I will have with me, my Macbook pro with Firewire 400/800 inputs, USB, etc.
I have been told that maybe the DVI for an external monitor can be used ad an "in"?
I did a little expirament I went from my Panasonic DVX100B to a Sony palmcorder via RCA to DV cord that came with palmcorder, then with palmcorder in VCR mode, I went from palmcorder to Mac Pro with Firewire and captured with iMovie.
Is there a way to capture this video right into my project in FCP, and how should i do it?

p.s.- i have access to a DSR45 deck if it might have the connections i need.

My signal path is this:
Analog out of switcher to JVC DV deck (recording to DV tape) - (I actually feed the signal through a chyron, then through a VDA and then into two matching DV decks so I can swap tapes without interruption).
FireWire out of (one) JVC deck to Mac (capturing in real time to HDD using 'Non-Controllable Device' setting
I have the 500GB external drive on FW800, while the video is coming in on the FW400. I do this on both my MacPro tower and MacBookPro (but you can NOT do this on the new MBPs, see below).
But even then, if I remember correctly, a single FW pipe can handle two-way DV streams (in from device AND out to HDD).
(ASIDE TO AUDIENCE:
This is exactly why I'll not be buying a new MacBookPro, because they removed every single feature that made it a Professional machine:
No full-size DVI out
No FW400
Glare-only screen (although I see that the 17" does have a non-glare option)
Disk drive on side instead of front
If I wanted a non-pro computer I would have bought a MacBook! In my line of work (Film, Video, Audio, Theater production, and projection using Catalyst) I MUST have a full size DVI; I still use many FW400 devices and I still need 2 FW ports anyway; I simply will never use a glare (glossy) screen; and on my cramped and crowded workspaces, I don't have room for side-loading optical disk drives (the front is always clear because I need the room for my hands).
It is NOT professional to have to carry around a DVI adapter and several PCI Express cards to get my computer to do what I need it to do.)

I also have the same issue..whenever i turn the 60 fps mode on the camera freezes while switching from video to any other mode...does everyone have the same issue?

the engineering section. more that month still not solved. I was hope after update to IOS 8.1.3 to fix!

Switching from screen share to video chat

I'm using iChat ver. 4.0.2 on an iMac. I collaborate with colleagues and we frequently use the screen sharing mode, but I cannot figure out how to change back to video chat direct from the screen sharing mode. If I click on the little video camera at the bottom of the iChat box, nothing happens. If I end the screen sharing, the entire iChat session shuts down. Any advice on switching from screen sharing to video chat mode without hanging up?

You have to End Screen Sharing and start a New Video chat.
There is no elegant way to do it.
In iChat go to the iChat menu and Feedback option send in a Wish List item. (there is a Free text Box and one of the Drop downs is for Enhancements Requests.)

How do I rid video of that combed look from Interlacing?

What would others suggest for getting an interlaced looking video rid of that look? I use my videos in digital format, and not on a TV or CRT, just an LCD, so what can I do so that I (and others on LCD's) don't see any of that sort of line displacement that comes from interlacing?

Videos willnot update after switching from manual flie management.

I had two libraries, one on my home PC and one on my work PC. I recently completed the enormous task of consolidating these libraries onto my home PC. On both my home and work PC I had iTunes set for manual updating of the iPod.
Last night I switched my home PC iTunes to automatic updating and it did this great.
For the music.
It erased all my videos, both music videos purchased from iTunes and personal vidoes that I had converted and installed to my iPod.
Here's the interesting part: The music videos I purchased from iTunes, including one I had just purchased 3 minutes prior to all this, were listed and available in my Music library but was not showing up at all under the vidoes tab of iTunes.
I could neither drag the videos to the video tab nor onto my iPod.
I believe I am using iTunes 6? Not sure what we are up to but I did not do the most recent iTunes update.
Help. Please.
