Video Tab locked in the ipod

I converted the dvd files to .mp4 files (Using cusoft).
The files were loaded in the itune (by using add files to library). I can play the dvd in the itune on my pc but cannot transfer the dvd files to the ipod because:
The dvd tab in the ipod is locked (white out). I can see the white out: [X] do not update video files .
Since the dvd tab is locked out I cannot transfer the dvd files to the ipod. I used the latest verson of itune and ipod programs.

NO. You have to set a pass code.
If you have an iCloud account, and if you set up Find My Phone, and if your iPod is turned on and if your iPod is connected to a WiFi network you can remotely wipe the device, or you can make it play a sound, or you can sent it a message....

Can't get videos to sync with the ipod!

I have a music video that i want to sync with my ipod, and i can already view the MV in itunes, it is already in my library, but when i try to copy manually the video into the ipod, it does not sync the video! only the song....
I have also tried setting my preferences to updating all videos automatically.
I have also read ALL the tutorial and help/FAQ in the website..
Grr....tell me what's wrong? Do i need to exchange my ipod?

It is probably in the wrong format. There is only a narrow ranges of video formats, bitrates and frame sizes that work in the iPod. Here's the details from the Apple site:
"Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats"

Is it truth, that iTunes 6 will transport video data to the iPod only over a USB 2 - port??? Won´t believe in...
My antique iMac G4 only contain USB 1.1 ports and it´s not upgradeable. Why Apple terminated the connect-ability via Firewire???

The nano can have data transferred to it through a USB 1.1 port, it's just slower than USB 2.0, and the nano can store video files as a USB drive, but you can't play them on the nano.
So if you want to use the nano to move video files from one location to another you can, but that's about as far as a nano goes with video using Apple's software.

Video without Sound on the Ipod HELP!!!

I convert my ordinary music video's to m4v in quicktime.
and then put them music video on my Ipod but when i take the ipod out and try to listen to the video there is no sound at all and then i try to hear a mp3 song and it works.

Gulliver: That method works for Mac's, but that software isn't available for Windows machines.
The link I posted above gives two different solutions for Windows users, one of which uses VirtualDub (free), and the other of which uses TMPGEnc (pay software, but the method I posted does not use the purchased functionality of it).
Of course, if you don't have Quicktime Pro for encoding, there's always Videora, which is easier and faster, but which doesn't produce as high quality encodes for H264 formats.

Where is the lock on the iPod touch

On my ipod nano it has a lock on top that I can use so while I am listening to music nothing changes by itself, very handy when the ipod is put into a pocket. Where is this feature on the ipod touch?

Hey recentley I have posted 3 videos on youtube and I tried watching them by using the YouTube app that I have on my ipod touch, but two of them say that its not supported on the ipod touch wich is 2nd generation! Why is that? Can somebody please help me!!!

As far as I can tell there's no way to do it... however, you can click on the mail icon, it'll create a new message with the full title as the subject line. From there you can cancel and go back to the video.

I was listening to my ipod and somehow I locked it. There is a lock icon showing on the screen. It is still playing. I can not change the song or shut it off. Does anyone know what to do. The last time this happened I had to take it to the Apple Store. They showed me and it was simple but I forgot. I know its just holding certain buttons down but I can't figure it out. Please help. Solution for teachers (and others) to lock down the iPod

Hello all. I just have to share something I found yesterday. If you've seen other posts of mine, I am a teacher with a class set of iPod nanos. I have audiobooks on them so the students can listen to and read the book at the same time. My problem was that there are preinstalled games on the iPod nano that cannot be removed. After contacting my educational contact at Apple, she said they have sent it up the pipes, but as of yet there is no solution. Well I found one!
First off, it is not my solution. I attended FETC this year and went back to their website and found a partial solution. The person's name is Luis Perez. He has two websites: http://etc.usf.edu/te_mac/ for mac and http://etc.usf.edu/te_win/ for windows. So here is how you do it.
Create a text file in a text editor that has the following:

save the file as preferences.txt
Create another text file with the following:
Name of link goes here
Here is my completed one:
Click for Audiobooks
Save this under whatever filename you want. I chose Audiobooks.txt
In iTunes make sure you have a playlist named whatever you put in the file. (NOTE: it must be a playlist, it wouldn't link to just audiobooks)
Sync the iPod in disk mode. Open the iPod in Finder or explorer and copy both files into the NOTES folder. Eject the iPod. Now the only thing the iPod will do is go to the notes folder. (it is in a sense 'locked down') Your other file should be listed. When you open that file (audiobooks.txt) it will say the name of your link. When you click that it will start with the first song/book in that playlist. You cannot go to any other thing on the iPod. When you hit menu, it goes right back to the notes folder.
PLEASE NOTE: if you want to 'unlock' the iPod, just trash the preferences.txt file you put on there.
I know it is rather long, but it is a solution I have been looking for. I am hoping other teachers or people who need to secure the iPod for whatever reason are helped by this. Let me know if you have questions.

My iPod classic isn't recognized by iTunes. I plugged it in to update last night, but all music and videos were deleted from the iPod. Now when I plug the iPod into the USB for iTunes, it deosn't show up on the left side of the monitor. Any ideas why this
