Video test failed in graphic card laptop g50-70

when i run hardware scan in lenovo solution center, i got waring graphic card video test and got result
Result code: WVC003000-DK7X2I
Video Card.
so i want to know why test show warning in my graphic card

hi bhavik455,
Welcome to the Forums.
Getting an error on the Lenovo Solutions Center (LSC) Hardware Scan might mean that the GPU is failing. This comes with a sign like lots of BSOD that's pointing to the graphics card, artifacts on the screen while playing games / videos, or the machine suddenly won't show a display.
If you're not experiencing any of the above symptoms then it's likely that the graphics card on the unit is functioning properly and the LSC is just showing some alse positive errors.
To verify, try running a stress test on the GPU to check its stability by running OCCT or similar utility.

  • How can I test my discrete graphics card in an MBP Retina?

How can I test the hardware on the discrete Nvidia grpahics card in my late 2012 MBP Retina?
I've had a *lot* of problems with it which I won't repeat here but the latest fun thing it's doing is crashing and requiring a hard reset any time *anything* attempts to access the discrete graphics card.  This includes but is not limited to:
*Opening system profiler and clicking on Graphics (it displays a blank screen)
    *Running a 3D graphics benchmark
*Running intensive mathematical calculations on the GPU
*Connecting to an external monitor with the thunderbolt port and using the computer for a short period of
None of these things actually work and after unsuccessfully attempting any of them the computer becomes very unstable shortly there after and usually crashes and requires hard reset.  One time I got a crash report that said something about GPU panic.
Any recommendations?  I get the sense that the apple hardware test is not doing a thoroough test of the GPU if at all.
    Thanks.

If they add OSX support for this product and it comes in at a reasonable price point, it could be an attractive solution.

Also, there are products from other companies that allow connection to PCIe cards through thunderbolt.  These two are geared more towards professional use (Audio/Video I/O cards).

  • Which graphics card/laptop to buy for Elements13?

    Hi,
On my laptop rendering/saving a 3:30 minute video takes about 15 - 30 minutes. I'm about to buy a new Windows laptop, is there any specific graphics cards and CPU that would make rendering and saving the fastest possible?
    Thank You, Miki

    Thank You, Miki
    Miki,
As John Smith suggests, I've not found a Nvidia Graphics card to do anything special with PrE.
I had a Toshiba Laptop with an i5 and slower HDD.  It pretty mutch mached your performancd.
I now have an ASUS "gamer" that I've never played games on.  I bought it a couple years ago for PrE.  "Gamers" from ASUS seem to have specs like workstations from HP, but are a lot cheaper.
It has an i7, a lot of RAM, a 7200 RPM HDD and a SSD.  I have installed all the software on the SSD that is important, installed the less important software on the HDD and have saved about 80GB on the SSD for video projects.  I use USB 3.0 external drives for extra media storage and backups.  In other words, the SSD does everything for video editing.  It works and is speedy.  I've tried putting the temp files and source video files on the HDD and saw no noticeable improvement in speed.  If I do enough with effects, transitions, adjustments, mixed media, etc, the "speedy" can be less so.  It even works with my brand new 4K footage.
I think the three keys for speed are an i7, lots of RAM and an SSD.

  • Viewing HD online video at 1080P with graphic card ATI x1600

I seem to notice that when I am viewing videos in HD at 1080 the video tends to get choppy but then it start to work again normally, mean while when I go to my new macbook alum it works perfectly fine there is this because ATI x1600 doesn´t support 1080 HD trailer movies at that res, which it ***** because back then it use to work fine at 1080 is this a leopard driver issues or is it that the card is not powerful enough to handle that res, even though I have 256 of ram just as the same as the nvidia 9400m which has shared 256 of ram.

this is the link where my ATI X1600 graphics card with iMac intel duo core 2.0 gigahertz with 2 gigs of ram and my graphics is 256 of vram
has problem viewing smoothly the HD 1080P trailers, but it doesn´t have any problems viewing with the new macbook with the nvidia 9400m graphic cards is this probably because of an encoding issue or codec issues with these HD trailers.

From what I can find out.
14 Jan 2013 - my client was experiencing display artifaces and the graphics card failed the Dell Diags video memory test. The graphic card replaced by Dell Tech.
13 Jun 2013 - my client was again experiencing display artifaces, running Dell Diags reported both hard drive and graphic video memory failed testing. I was concerned that the graphic card had failed again so quickly I worried there may be another defective part was causing the graphic card failure. I figured the most likely cause would be overheating and since the graphics card has an independent heatsink and cooling fan assembly I submitted Dell Warranty Request W03725377 requesting new hard drive, new graphics card, and new graphics card heatsink.
18 July 2013 - my client was again experiencing display problems. He reported:
The laptop has developed the same problem again. Soon as I switched it on over the weekend, the screen split into two and then it froze and then there  were stripes on the screen. I shut it down and switched it on again, hoping this will work but the screen just remained black.
I booted into Dell Diags and shortly after starting the basic test when the test moved from solid blue to the GUI vertical yellow bars appeared. The yellow bars were visible throughout all testing except the LCD test and on the BIOS Screen. The LCD test didn't show the yellow vertical bars but it did show the repeating series of white dots that I have seen before with previous graphics card memory failures. I tried booting into Safe Mode and Safe Mode VGA 640 x 480. All attempts end with a black screen.
I can order and replace the graphics card under warranty but it seems obvious that something is causing the repeated graphic card failures and I want to fix the problem. I've been searching the forums and it seems other people have been experiencing related problems. I've quoted a thread I believe may be relevant
This thread explores a possible combination of LCD Panel Manufacturer and Graphics Card Manufacturer/ Model

I believe I have a similar problem with my Dell M6600 with AMD(ATI) M8900 graphics card. I've used the computer without problems for 1 1/2 years and 3 days ago I noticed the mouse pointer getting corrupted, then the screen flashed and went dark. I've tried system restore without success. When I remove all the ATI software, the computer works with the Generic VGA driver. I spent 2 days trying to reinstall the ATI drivers from both Dell and AMD with no success again. This has been very frustrating as it takes hours to do a system repair check, boot in Safe Mode and remove the ATI software. When the ATI driver/software bundle is installed the computer does not boot correctly and go to a black screen after the Windows boot up logo. As soon as I remove all the ATI drivers and software the computer boots again and works with the Generic VGA driver. I don't want to erase my hard drives (RAID 1) just to try to fix this. I will buy another laptop hard drive and try a clean Windows 7 Pro install. My guess is that either the graphic card is going bad or ATI drivers are not compatible with the latest Windows Update. Did you have any luck fixing your problem?

  • How big of a bottleneck is a weak graphics card?

On one of my computers, I have an integrated (Intel) graphics card. Compared to discrete cards, it is pretty poor.
I'm just wondering... would upgrading to a more powerful graphics card significantly improve the performance of after effects? Is it similar to video games, where the graphics card has the biggest performance impact, or is it mainly just dependant on the CPU and memory?
P.S. I only work with 2D material, and sorry if this is a vague question.

Is it similar to video games, where the graphics card has the biggest performance impact,
No, it isn't. However, Todd and Michael have perhaps simplified a bit too much. There are benefits in having a dedicated card.
Some effects are accelerated. If you only use them, e.g. to do straight color corrections, you may see some boost. However, that will get lost as soon as you throw non-GPU effects in the mix.
Several good third party plug-ins use OpenGL or CUDA (Magic Bullet stuff, Sapphire, Optical Flares), so a good card will benefit them.
MediaCore can use some hardware to accelerate decoding of compressed footage. In turn, AE may then use its own acceleration functions for the comp, footage and layer panels to allow for faster scrubbing.
AE has some 3D OpenGL, if not much. If you work with 3D layers a lot, they would still benefit.
Premiere Pro massively uses acceleration features. That becomes relevant, when you work with Dynamic Link to bring over such stuff into AE.
So in all, a dedicated card doesn't hurt. There is no need to go crazy, though. Even a 80 Euro card should provide sufficient performance boost. Just be careful with third-party stuff and Premiere. They do require specific tested/ certified cards.

  • Graphics card issue?

Every time I open up my Photoshop CC on my PC,
it is telling me that "my graphics card doesn't meet requirements"
My system specs are: Intel Core (tm) i7-4500CU @ 1.80GHz 2.40GHz
    8G RAM 64-bit op system, x64 processor windows 8.1
I have tried many times updating my graphics card, and no matter how many times I walk through it, it doesnt fix the issue.
And yes I have followed all of the steps they have provided on the page. Thanks for the help! -Kay

The only time you will see that pop-up is for the 3D functions. There you must have a minimum of 512 MB of video ram on your graphics card. Other functions that require OpenGL 2.0 at a minimum may just work fine.
Help > System Info will give you the maker and model of the card as well as how much video ram it has. You can then know if it's in the list of supported cards.
When we ask you to update drivers, we mean that you have to go to the maker's website (Intel, Ati, or Nvdia) for the latest drivers not Windows Update or your PC maker (Dell, in my case).

  • My iMac buying debacle.. comparing graphics cards

    Hello,
I have a dilemma and I am seeking guidance from you smart apple people. I am looking at either acquiring my father's 24" iMac or buying one used on ebay and I am not very familiar with graphics cards.
So I want a 24". Not only because I think its the perfect size but because I get a discount at work of 20% if the monitor is 24 inchs or less. I do mostly photo editing and processing along with web browsing. I also like playing videogames but have not done much of this on my 2007 macbook 13" (black). Basically the games I am looking to run would be like cod4, cod4 mw2 or bf3 on mac (if released) or windows partition via bootcamp. This is where I am unsure of which graphics card to get, I am not to familiar with the cards and would like to get an imac that would last me many years down the road.
So here are the stats from my dads older (early 2009) iMac 24": Nvidia GeForece 9400 256MB, 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB DDR3, 640 GB HD
Would that be sufficient for those games or should I go for something used with the top graphics card from 2009 (24inch) models?
For example I found some 24inch models that meet my other criteria (640+ GB HD, 4+ RAM) on ebay with these cards for about $1000, plus or minus $300.
    •NVIDIA Geforce GT 130 512 MB VRAM
Ati Radeon HD 4850 video card
    Thanks for the advice!!

Basic rules of 3D gaming on a Mac.
1: Only the MacPro can the video card be switched for a better one, if you can find one.
2: 3D video games are dedicated graphics card dependent, integrated graphics (CPU does the graphics) are terrible for most every 3D game as it's not as powerful as a GPU, but good enough for the basics.
3: When you buy a Mac and intend to 3D game, buy the most powerful model with the most powerful dedicated video card possible. This allows you to 3D game longer, as newer games always need a newer card.
4: All in one Mac's like the iMac are so-so at 3D gaming, because of their heat issues in their closed case, CPU and GPU are hobbled if the temperatures rise.
5: You must have deep pockets to 3D game on a Mac, as your hardware turnover is faster and the prices for Mac's are premium. Also since a lot of games only for Windows, you have to buy Windows $300 as well.
6: Windows has a larger market share, also 3D gamers towers that plenty of video cards can be replaced with, better cooling systems, tricks and overclocking and so forth to extract maximum performance out of 3D games.
So perhaps just get what you need for the job at hand, and get a Windows 7 3D gaming tower instead, where you can replace the video card.
The fastest Windiows 7 tower is twice as fast as the fastest Mac.

If you can't afford another computer, then a Playstation will give you plenty of 3D action and people online to play with.

  • AUTODESK MAYA & MUDBOX GRAPHIC CARD REQUIREMENTS

    Hi!
this is Mojopicon, from Madrid Spain...
I'm just breaking my head trying to find any solution to my 3D modeling problems
Autodesk Mudbox does not work in my mac, Autodesk Maya works but not as well as i need...
I believe that all problems comes from my graphic card, ... but i'm not sure,
My doubt is how to identify the problem (I took my computer to a top reseller and the technical service told that every worked nice...) and if in the case that i decide to buy a new graphic card wich brand and model could i buy...
last month phoning Apple service in Spain (not really, the Spanish attemption i thought is in Greece) nobody could help me...
no body knows wich graphic card i need...
    Could you help me?¿?¿
in addition of the upper information i have another question, taking a look of pro graphic cards, i'm finding expensive prices... by this way i do not know exactly if i can make a investmet and buy a new mac pro (turning my old mac in a mini render farm together with the new computer..) is it a nice idea or not?¿
the graphic card: ATI 5770 1Gb or ATI 5870 that are the common GCard on the store are nice for 3D development or not?¿?¿?
    thank you to everybody
    best regards

The ATI 5870/5770 are, for now, the only cards being sold or offered.
There will be a Quadro 4000 $1200 (US price) vs $770 for PC, but that requires 2008 or later (2009 preferably).
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H3314LL/A
With only one PCI slot that can be configured as 16 lanes, there are limitations.
    currently your Mac has?
    Nvidia 8800GT
    ATI Radeon X1900
    OEM 7300GT
    ATI Radeon 4870
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopmac/mac_accessories/displays?n=graphiccards
I think you really want something that will run 10.6.5, boot into 64-bit kernel mode, can run the Q4000 and has two 16x slots, and, is more powerful. If possible. MacPro 1,1 still sell in the US$1,000 range.
You could buy the 5770 and try it, no loss as it would work as 2nd card in newer Mac too. Or up the value of your Mac.

  • How can you tell if your video/graphics card is failing?

I have been playing World of Warcraft for over 7 months now (insert geek jokes here), and I have never experienced the problems that I have been experiencing with WoW this weekend.
I was hoping that it was just a connection/internet issue with WoW, but when i play on my laptop (and older Powerbook G4), screen loads aren't slow like they are on my Intel iMac.
Yesterday and today have been horrible. I'll get disconnected at least 4-5 times (which NEVER happens) and when I am finally logged into my account for game play, it's horrible lag. And even then, it takes a while for the background or other characters to load.
I'm worried that it's my video/graphics card and might be failing. How would I know if this was the case?
I am still hoping it's just a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with my card. But I don't know at this point.
    I'm very frustrated.
Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Suzanne

Wow, ok, sounds like you are on the exact same path that I'm on. I'm a WOW player also, have had my iMac since 2008 (and play wow alot, raiding, etc) and recently it fried it's graphics card. I just replied to your thread about HDDs... so please see that response.
I'm convinced it's a heat issue and I have a feeling the latest OSX update may have changed something about the fan speed that caused extra heat to build up. Just a theory.
Anyway, your options are very limited for "fixing" a screwed up graphics card. Hopefully you have AppleCare, otherwise you're looking at ~$500 to fix this.
I'm not going to bother. Just bought a new monitor and graphics card for my 4y.o. Windows machine and will be using that from now on. I'll miss the Apple display and the operating system, but the hardware doesn't make me happy at all.
    Good luck!

  • My graphic card failed but passes the recall test - surely Apple would replace it? How wrong can you be!

Even though I had read about the product recall on some iMacs, mine had never had an issue, but to be safe, the plan was to take it to an Apple store to have them test and replace it.
A week ago, on occasion, the screen suddenly started going completely gray, everything else seemed to be working fine, and any apps running would continue to do so. Without being able to see the screen, the only options was to power it down, run any diagnostic test and start normally. It passed pro tools tests, with no warnings so I thought it could have been a software issue. After many restarts without anything else plugged in, the iMac appeared to function for maybe a day or so, but gray screen whenever it wanted to.
So I called Apple, they told me to get it into a service centre, and they would do further tests. Whilst on the phone to the engineer, my iMac with the gray screen suddenly refused to power back up. The engineers tell me that the graphic card fails any benchmarking tests with corruption and the same gray screen issue, so it looks promising yes? No. The specific tests that the machine must fail for the recall - passed.
Having spent almost an hour on the phone to a Apple senior advisor today, he tells me that it is not covered by the recall !!
The machine is one of the matching serial numbered machines in the recall, it has suddenly developed a graphic card issue that leaves the machine unusable, it suddenly started having this problem within weeks of the recall being announced - It has the faulty card in it, it has the fault - yet it does not qualify?
Can someone please tell me what I could have done to get this card replaced without the estimated £250 charge to get my machine running again.
I am a die hard Apple enthusiast, I have converted everyone I have been in contact with to purchase from them for their legendary customer services and yet feel perplexed as to what I should do next.
My first reaction is to raise a big fuss about the situation at an Apple store, but I can't blame them too much if my machine does not match the recall criteria - but come on, it can't be a coincident that this card has failed now, can it?
What do I do next. I don't want to take my machine over to proper Apple store and raise a fuss, that would be counter productive. But  really Apple
Anyone have a suggestion - would you buy another iMac that could have the same problem and get the same response?
To any Apple engineers out there who can look at  a case number my ref number is 500592345, apparently there is a lot of info in there, but nothing that will help me!

Apple engineers do not participate here. The only replies you will normally get are from people who are, like me, just fellow users, and there's nothing any of us can do to intervene in this matter.
If Apple says that your system is not covered by the recall, there's not much you can do. You can try taking your system to an Apple Store and politely - do not "make a fuss"; polite but gently insistent is much more likely to get you useful results - ask for assistance. Or you can call Apple tech support, ask to speak with customer relations, and explain the situation to them and request coverage under the recall program.
If all that fails, though, then you're probably at a dead end and will need to pay for the service if you want it done.
    Regards.

  • Want to add Video and Graphic Card to my computer system

I Notice that one of the users' in the Apple discussion Board is Listed, (AndyO) he has help me many times in the Past and was succesful in my problrm solution, would he might be able to help me with this?
I had Purchased the Game Spore Creature Creator the Starter Kit which is just the Creature creator game and not the actual game itself. I wasn't able to install the the game on my computer because I don't have the right or not at all Video and Graphic Card install on my computer. I had Contacted the Company "EA" that puts out the Game Spore, this is what they said what the game requirements are: The minimum system requirements for Spore and Spore the Galactic Edition for Mac are as follows:
    * Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher
    * Intel Core Duo Processor
    * 1024 MB RAM
    * At least 345 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. (260 MB for the Trial Edition)
    * Video Card - ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100
This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems (PowerMac).
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least: an Intel Integrated Chipset GMA X3100 or Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
    Supported Video Cards
    ATI Radeon(TM) series
    * X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600
    NVIDIA GeForce series
    * 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800
    Intel(R) Extreme Graphics
    * GMA X3100
and that I need to upgrade my system. Basically I need; ATI Radeon 1600 or NVIDIA Geforce 7300 and a INTEL Extreme Graphic Video Card-GMA X3100, in order to be able to install and play this game. Since I already have this game, I would like to be able to upgrade my computer system which brings me to ask; does somone know or refer me to a web site that has and sells these Video and Graphic Card and supports for the Mini Mac?
Plus they say that I need a 1020 of MB of Ram, I Have already found that 1024 MB of Ram but I just need those Video and Graphic Cards for my computer system. I am adding my computer system Profile to my discussion board to show you what I have on my system, would you be able to tell me if I would be able to add these Video and Graphic card and the memory or Ram 1024 to my computer system?
Note: Here is a web site that I am looking at to add the 1024 MB of Ram to my computer system:

    <Edited by Moderator>

    Hi Trisha,
The only modern Mac's with video cards are the Mac Pro and Xserve (server) systems. They both are priced quite a bit higher than any Mac Mini.
Some systems, like the Mac Book Pro laptop can be ordered with different graphics cards, but that has be done when the system is built, as it is not replaceable once the system is built. To find out which systems, go to store.apple.com. For each system that you select, you can see if there's an option for a better video card.
