Video to 848x480 size

I have a client that needs video exported to be played on widescreen TVs around a Rec Centre. The specs for the system they installed says they need the video in mpeg2 and 848x480 size (53:30?). I can't get Final Cut to open a project at that size.
Does anyone know how to set it up to be this size? I could also do the project in Motion, but then I still won't be able to export it as mpeg2 because it's locked to 4:3 or 16:9.
Should I just export it at a normal 16:9 and the TV will leave some black bars at the top maybe?

are you trying to crop your video or are you trying to change the size of your frame. if you were to say, resize your 720X 480 video, you'd 'resize' it to 360 X 240 (half it's size. these are the amount of vertical and horizontal pixels.
i say if you are trying to 'resize' your video instead of crop, so you get the whole video but smaller, then just File>Export>Using Compressor. In compressor you can change your frame accordingly to how you want and choose from several different compressions.
if you haven't used compressor, take a quick glance at the manual, it's real easy.

  • With ios 7.03 I cannot expand youtube videos to screen size but get white blanks all around the stream

since the update to ios 7.0.3 I cannot expand Youtube videos to screen size - instead, the features around the video dissappear and are replaced by white fields. With my ipad mini I do not have that problem.
    Does anybody know advice?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • Multiple videos, in multiple sizes, in one window

I'm currently building a website in CS5 (on a mac) and I'm using .MOV files. I would like to have the videos be different sizes for example one as a 4.5in x 7in and three more at 2.5in x 5.
I know how to make the videos different sizes, but I wanted to know if there is way, that when one of the smaller videos is clicked on it switches places with the bigger video without making a new page?
I also have access to CS4 (on a pc) if the way to do what I'm looking for is in CS4 and not CS5.
Please note: that I'm just learning Dreamweaver for the first time and although I taught myself through youtube videos how to insert the videos and set the parameters I don't know coding very well so I'm looking for a simplified answer.
    Thank You,
    Raizel

What is the benifit to converting them to .mp4?
There's wider support for MP4s.  Especially if you use an HTML5 player like Pickle.
    http://pickleplayer.com/
I'm not looking to resize the videos, I'm looking to have one big video with the other videos sized as thumbnails. But when one of the thumbnails is clicked on it is veiwed as the bigger size.
Use Poster Frames (as seen on YouTube).  Poster Frames are still images of the movie.  Often used as icons in video Playlists, when site visitor clicks a Poster Frame, its associated video is activated and plays in the main player.

  • Optimize Video, Full (Original Size) - What Does It Do?

I've recently noticed that some of the video I've imported into iMovie '09 is "optimized" and some isn't. What's the difference?
Specifically, what does the action "Optimize Video - Full (Original Size)" actually do? If the video can already play in iMovie, and is clearly compatible with it, why does it need optimizing?
    Once you optimize a video, you can't de-optimize it, right? It's a one-way street.

There is an advantage to having the optimized video: At least on my computer, it plays significantly more smoothly, and it scrubs better, too. Here's what I found for an 8.1 s clip from my iPhone 4:
Original file: 10.5 MB, 95% CPU when playing.
Optimized Large: 37.6 MB, 51% CPU
Optimized Full: 56.9 MB, 47% CPU
With the original file, the viewer is jerky when it's playing, and the red scrub bar has trouble keeping up with the mouse. With the two optimized, the viewer is smoother (but not perfect), and the scrub bar keeps up with the mouse pretty well.
I don't understand why the original is so jerky in iMovie when it plays perfectly in QuickTime. I've always had problems with jerky video in iMovie.
I will also mention another point of interest: I have compared video from my iPhone 4 with video from my Sony HDR-HC5 HDV video camera, a pretty decent HD camera that records on mini-DV tapes. I was surprised to find that the iPhone video is markedly sharper. It really looks significantly better. I will probably be taking more video using my phone now, instead of always lugging around the video camera.
Downsides to the iPhone video: Not as good in low light. Terrible orange hue in incandescent light (some posters have claimed this might be a defect, as not all phones seem to have this). "Rolling shutter" artifacts. Hard to hold steady, and worries about dropping it since it has to be held in an awkward way.
Still, it'll be great to always have a high-quality (in outdoor light, at least) video camera close at hand.

  • RE: CS4 Premiere Pro - what is best to backup/archive video to minimize size

RE: CS4 Premiere Pro -> what is best to backup/archive video to minimize size?
I use export>media to adobe media encoder. I am using the avi. the avi file generated seems large. i.e. for 27 minutes the file is 6 gb.
what is the best format to use to minimize file size?????
any help will be appreciated and thks in advance.

    >what is best to backup/archive video to minimize size?
That's the wrong question to ask. Ideally you don't change anything about the original media for backup. It's size it it's size, and you get enough of whatever you nee to accommodate that.

  • How do I make a video project file size smaller so that I can burn to a dvd

I have made a 10 minute premiere elements 13 video which includes photos, video, music and narration.  When I publish it the size is 14.9GB which is too large to burn onto a DVD.   The size of the file seems extrodinarily large - is there a way to make the file smaller?

Thanks for the great news that you have sorted out your issues.
If it turned out that the Timeline Indicator stopped at 3 hour mark on the Timeline instead of the 10 minute mark, did you
inspect that 3 hour mark by expanding the Timeline with the -+ slider above the Timeline  and inspecting that location for leftovers, fragments, clips that you dragged to the far right of the Timeline to get them out of the way, and the like? Often leftovers present as very thin black vertical lines scattered in the track(s). You need to delete them. When
the spot is cleaned up, then repeat the process until the Timeline Indicator ends at the end of your intended content.
We were glad for your progress.

  • Please Help - Want to Keep Video at "normal" Size

Hi I would appreciate if there is a solution for this very much !!!
I am making a movie in iMovie for my mums 60th Birthday the idea is to get a loads of people and relatives to leave a video birthday message which she will be able to watch on her Birthday as she is going on holiday to celibrate.
My Issue is some people have used low quality camera's to record there message and they have no access to any better equipment, when I drag these movies into iMovie it streaches the to full screen, making the video worthless is there a way in iMovie of keeping the original size (120x200 or something) and leave a big black border so that at least it will be viewable.
Also as a second issue someone has shot there video in Portrait therfore is there a way of rotating the whole video 90 deg?
Thanks for any coment or sugestions.

Sounds like you want to "letterbox" your source file. An interesting problem but one easily solved if you have the required resources -- QT Pro, any basic graphic application, and a third party video converter utility if required. To start off, the source file should be in a "fully supported QT compression format which can be imported into iMovie '08. Since you indicate your files can be imported but are rescaled, this is not a problem for you. (If it had been, you would simply have converted the file to a "fully supported" QT compression format using QT Pro or a third-party utility if needed.) The rest of the process is really quite simple:
    1) Open your iMovie '08 compatible source file in QT Pro.
    2) Open your graphic application and create your "black background." It must be the same size/aspect ratio at the project you are working on iMovie '08.
    3) Once the background is created, select it (by pressiong "Command-A" in most graphic applications) and place it in memory (by pressing "Command-C" in most graphic applications).
    4) Now switch to QT Pro, open an new player (press "Command-N"), and paste the black background into the new player (press "Command-V") to turn it into a single frame movie clip.
    5) While the entire movie clip is already selected (if not still selected, press "Command-A" again to re-select it in the new player), press "Command-C" to place the background "clip" in memory.
    6) Now activate your source movie clip by clicking on its frame and with the playhead set to the beginning of the source movie use the "Add to Selection & scale" Edit menu option to create a background track of the same length as your source movie.
    7) Now open the "Show Movie Properties" window, select the newly added video track ("Video Track 2") in the upper half of the window, and select the "Visual Settings" tab in the lower half of the window.
    8) Change the "Layer" setting for this track from -1 to 1 to place it behind your source video track.
    9) Now select the source video track ("Video Track 1"), enter the correct "Offset" to center your source file over the background, and save the resulting file. Offsets = 0.5 x (width of background - width of source) and 0.5 x (height of background - height of source)
Now it is just a matter of importing the clip to iMovie '08 and editing as you normally would.
Also as a second issue someone has shot there video in Portrait therfore is there a way of rotating the whole video 90 deg?
Also very simple if you have QT Pro. In step 1 above, open the "Show Movie Properties" window, select the video track in the upper half of the window, select the "Visual Settings" tab in the lower half of the window, and press the appropriate "Flip/Rotate" button to correct the video orientation. This must be done before adding your background whis is assumed to be larger than your source clip in its new orientation.

  • Does FCP assume interlaced video if frame size happens to coincide with PAL?

I have a QuickTime MOV file that has a frame size of 720x576, at 25 fps. It's actually a series of full-frame JPEG images, so it's progressive video.
When I add it to the timeline in FCP-X, it shows up as PAL 25i - ie. FCP thinks it's interlaced.
My timeline is PAL 25p, so the source video is being de-interlaced by FCP when it shouldn't be, which is leading to image quality degredation.
Is there any way to stop FCP from assuming this progressive video is interlaced?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi,
MJPEG is simply a series of JPEG images. If you pull one apart in a hex editor, look for the bytes that start with 0xFFD8 - this is the JPEG Start-of-Image marker. Extract that section, until the following JPEG End-of-Image marker (0xFFD9), save it as a file, give it a .JPG extension  and voila, a fully standards compliant JPEG image.
Images I know about - it's video that's foxing me!
The incoming video is an arbitrary size - I could make it 512x512 for example. If I do that, and leave everything else the same, FCP treats it as *progressive*. It's only the 720 x 576 file that FCP is *assuming* to be interlaced.
    Here: a 512x512 mjpeg.
On the timeline - note, FCP does *not* assume it's interlaced this time:
I know the 720x576 file isn't interlaced: it's a series of full frame images.
So: any ideas how I tell FCP to stop treating the input as interlaced?
(Many thanks for your assistance by the way, it is appreciated.)

  • TOC, streaming video and screen size

    Hello,
A recent project is shaping up to be a video based course.  The purpose of the project is to introduce and explain a sales software package.
    Before I start to work I need to ensure Captivate 7 can cover three basic requirements;
    1. The end user needs must have access to a table of contents so they can switch between slides/content and have the freedom to move about.  I know that Captivate 7 can accommodate this.
    2. To be able to embed streaming video.   It is important  that the video appears to be a part of the content and not open to a new window at anytime.  Also, the rewind and pause buttons for the video are controlled by Captivate 7 inbuilt buttons and not those of the video streaming host.
    3.  Ensure the screen size for the learning package is restricted to a specific size.  Reason being, some users will have desktop screens at 1920 x 1080 and this will "blur" the video content if stretched to that size.
Might Captivate 7 fulfill items two and 3?
Your feedback and thoughts are most appreciated!
    Sincere thanks

Hate to answer my own question, but I figured out a way to do what I want.
    1. open movie file in QT.
    2. Resize it and save.
    3. Open file with skin movie (see link in my orig post).
    4. then view < normal.
It basically fits it to the screen which is the exact dimensions of the movie. If I do not view<normal then the movie is offset I can not even see it. And resetting the offset does nothing.
If anyone has a better way (less steps) to get a borderless movie to resize and fit to screen, please let me know. This works but it is cumbersome.
    Thanks.

  • Are my videos the right size?

I´m editing various projects in Final Cut Pro X and a 3 minute video is around 500MB, longer of 15 min over 1GB.
I know it depends on what´s added into the project, graphics, photos, texts etc, but in general, is this a normal size of a final project and should it be handed to a client at this size? It takes many hours to upload to Youtube etc, but I don´t know how I could reduce the file size without losing quality?
My video footage is shot on a DSLR Nikon D800, imported as Optimized Media en exported as 1920x1080 at H.264 Better Quality.
    Thanks.

I think your sizes are about right. By way of comparison, Apple TV's 1080P bitrate is 10 Mb per second. A 15 minute video would weigh in at a little over 1 GB.
Why it should take hours to upload is another matter. If you use the site's uploader, I would expect the upload for a 15 minute movie to be under a half hour. You may have an ISP issue. Do several upload speed checks.
    Good luck.

  • Photo Both video (.mov) file size in Lion

Photo Both in Lion saves videos (.mov) with double the file size of previous versions.  I have verified by looking at a 30 second video created pre-Lion (2.1mb) and a new 30 second video created post-Lion (4.1mb) on the same MacBook Air.  I have seen even more drastic file size increses on a newer MacBook Pro; more that 20mb for a video that used to be under 2mb.
There are no settings available in Photo Booth.  And as stated in other threads there is no method in Mail to resize a video, this option is only available for images.  The only functioning workaroud is to open the .mov file in Quicktime and then export for the web.  This is OK, but the beauty of Photobooth and the Mail button within was the ability to just quickly fire off a video.  Opening another app, exporting and then attaching to an email is no longer simple or beautiful.
Does anyone know why the filesizes have jumped up so drastically?  More importantly, does anyone know how to get the file size of videos created in Photo Booth back under control so they can be emailed more easily?

UPDATE:  Using any of the effects in photo booth videos greatly reduces the file size.  This seems a bit contrary to what I would expect.  Adding birds flying around my head cuts the video size in half.  Sepia cuts down to 1/3.  Black and white, the one that isnt a suprise, is less that 1/4 the file size of just plain old color.
Why can't I just have the nice small video files that Photo Booth used to save??

  • Rendered video's file size is HUGE!!!

Hello! I have a little problem with AE and I hope that there's something wrong with it. I had a 30 sec video which I only did some minor color correction and other small tweaks in. Before this, the file was 6 mb big, when I rendered it, it was 7.30 GB.
This is just silly. Is there anyway I can render my videos with good quality without getting these ridiculous file sizes?
At the moment I think I'm rendering .avi files.

  • Reducing video file/picture size

I just upgraded to the 5 from the 4g and while the bump in quality is nice, a few MB a second when recording video is pretty staggering. I know it's suggested to convert the mov file to mp4 but is there any way to set the ipod to record in just 720 for example to save on file size? Same question applies to taking pictures, as the camera itself isn't good enough to warrant a need for pictures the size it produces it'd be much nicer to have it set to about half the default size so I can avoid resizing pictures I want to keep.

There is no way to reduce/change the resolution of video or still photos.
If you email them video yo can select the resolution of photos and it reduces the resolution of videos.

  • [GeForceFX] WDM video capture image size and position

    Hello to all.
When I do video capture with my MSI FX5900-VTD128, the picture is not centered correctly and not at the right size either.
Let's take for example that I want to record TLC. I always get a black vertical bar on the left side of the capture video and the TLC watermark is also missing on the screen. In other words, if I could move video capture screen to the left, I would regain the full video frame.
One of my friend has a different video capture card and he is able to correct the screen size and position. Is this possible with my video card ???
I have a lot of shaded options in my nVidia WDM setup. Things that I cannot change. Any clue on how I can resize my capture video and how to eneble shaded option ???
    Thanks !

Man... I have VHS tapes that I want to put on DVD... It reallly does not work... It looks like if the image was zoomed in and a little bit to much on the left...
Does someone know if it is possible to adjust zoom level and image centering on the nVidia WDM capture video screen ???
    Need some help here !
