Video too big

Hi
I have finished editing my video and I know for sure it is too big to fit on a DVD .  How can I tell the size of it and how can I chop it into 3 or 4 pieces in order to get it on 3 or 4 dvd's.
Thanks
Iris

Iris,
I agree with Steve G. on the best (also the easiest) way to break up a Timeline, into smaller parts.
If you look at his last sentence, regarding the Duration of the Timeline, the first question that we need answered is "How long is the Duration of your Timeline?" That will be the first indicator, whether you need to break apart your Timeline.
Depending on the answer to that question, regarding your Duration, another option might be to use a DVD-9 (Double Layer) blank disc, rather than a DVD-5 (Single Layer). The DVD-9 would allow for about twice the Duration.
Good luck, and please let us know just a bit more about your Project.

  • Tiny video TOO BIG for YouTube?

I'm sorry--I searched for "compress video" and got no results--so--
I have a very short (1.09 minute) video I want to upload to YouTube. It is 122 MB. YouTube has a 100 MB maximum capacity. I've seen 10 minute videos on YouTube, yet my tiny 1 minute video is too big. How do I make it smaller so it will upload? I'm so sorry if this has been discussed before, but I get no help for this on my Mac Help section--thank you!

If you have Quicktime Pro you can export it and reduce the size. Or use VisualHub in its demo mode (2 minutes max) to covert to a smaller format and size. It works quite good.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • PC - TV [Video too big for TV Screen.]

    Hi,
I'm running Windows XP with an FX 5200 128 Video Card. I have an S-Video plug that turns in to a Yellow RCA wire and plugs in to my TV. I have my display properties set to "Clone".
When I play a video using Windows Media Player, I can see it on my Computer Screen as well as my TV.
However, the picture on my TV seems to be slightly cropped. It looks like I am missing the TOP and SIDE portions of the Video. The video fills the entire TV screen, but it looks like the picture is too big for the TV and I'm not seeing the edges.....
    Any suggestions,
    Thanks,
    Andrew.....

make sure you're using the correct display drivers from nVidia Drivers
then in the driver control panel for your TV settings, use the zoom controls to adjust how the picture looks on your TV

  • Downloaded Video Too Big for Screen

From YouTube I downloaded the Mozart opera "Cosi Fan Tutti" as an MPEG4. The resulting video image is nice and clear with good sound, but it is larger than my screen. The usual video controls such as play, pause, etc are below the bottom horizon and cannot be seen and some of the picture is off screen to the left or right.  The Zoom in Universal Access is turned on, but Control-Minus has no effect other than to give me a little blip noise. Is there a way to control the size of the Quick Time Player image? ( I am using 10.4.11 on a late 2007 iMac because of some antiquated software I must have access to.)

Unfortunately, YouTube's terms of use forbid downloads unless there is a download button offered, so we would be violating the ToU here if we were to discuss it.

  • Output video too big: 42 MB/min

    Hi everyone.
I'm a beginner with Premiere Pro, and I'm struggling on reasonably reducing the size of my export video and maintaining quality. I've tried H.264, FLV, WMP and Quicktime (see attached image).
The source video is quite simple (see attached image). I put my camera on a table and filmed myself speaking, with a mainly white background. The camera is a , and the original file size is 77 MB. The equipment is a Sony DCR-DVD610 camcorder.
Using Premiere Pro, I just added some opacity effects (at the beginning and end), 1 or 2 short subtitles, and 1 or 2 images appearing for a few seconds. Audio is present.
Since I was trying to reduce the bitrate, the subtitles get very ugly and difficult to read. Concerning it, I could delete the subtitles and add them afterwards, building a MKV maybe. At least, I wouldn't have unreadable subtitles. Still don't know how to create this MKV though.
Anyway, would you recommend me some settings regarding compressing video size and maintaining its quality?
    Thanks,
    Carlos.
    Settings:
    Original video:

So far, the following was the best config I got (images). I mounted it from preset H.264 - NTSC DV Widescreen, with VBR 2 pass.
I got from 77 MB to 27 MB, and quality is acceptable. But still, I think I could have something better.

  • I am having trouble with a video.  I have tried to copy it to a flash drive because it is too big to fit on a DVD, it says it is too large for the volumes format.  Please advise.

I have done many DVD's for seniors for graduation so I am familier with Imovie.  I have just finished a projec that is a combination of video, music and stills.  I shared it through idvd.  Now I can't burn it to a dvd because it is too large.  It is too big even for a two sided disk.  I have researched it and i find that blue ray would be big enough.  Does apple offer  blue ray burner?  if so, what is the cost?  I tried another route and took my external hard drive to copy it to a PC.  there computer wouldn't recongize my drive.  I am assuming it is because it is formated for apple.  I tired copying it to a flash drive and and it says that it can't be copied because it is too large for the volume's format.  Suggestions?   PLEASE!!!!!

Could the video be too big because of using too high a resolution?   480p is sufficient for a DVD.  the thread at:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5868958?tstart=30
    may be of help.
Apple does not support Blue ray - you have to use a thrid party application like Toast.
To transfer the video to a PC you need a FAT-formatted hard drive (or of course a sufficiently big memory stick).
You could also go via a network, via the cloud (eg Dropbox) or with 'Wetransfer" or similar.
    Geoff.

  • Video dl in iTunes too big for ipod screen?

So I just downloaded the digital copy of Pineapple Express and I noticed that the video is 853 x 356 which is way too big. How do I get it down to 640 x 480.

You could also use a third party application such as Handbrake to create an iPod compatible version. Check it out below. Hope this helps.

  • I have 1250 songs, a few videos in my ITunes library. I tried to synch with my IPhone 3g last night but it said my library is too big. Is that true?

I have about 1250 songs and a few music videos in my ITunes library. Last night I tried to synch with my IPhone 3G but I got a message that my library is too big to synch it all. Is that true? How many songs can fit on an IPhone 3G. Thanks for any help.

Look down at the bottom of your Itunes player and check the total size of your library. If the gigs are more than what your iphone will hold that error message will pop up. My suspicion is it that you have some very large video files and those take up a lot of space. To get more room, delete some of those video files and covert your music files to 128, if larger. Then resync your iphone. Also if you are using .wav files, covert those to mp3 @ 128

I need some advice about the macbook pro and iPhone 5.
I took a video on my iPhone and tried to email it it said it was too big to send? So i downloaded it to my macbook pro and tried to mail it to no avail? The macbook tells me the server won't let it through other mail goes through any ideas how to resize it or what it might take to send it?

I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

  • Published site won't load. Are my video files too big?

I'm a video editor and have published a site through iWeb. I have about 8 movie files on the site. The site never fully loads. Are my video files too big? If so, what would you recommend the average MB's should be?

You need to use a movie player that doesn't require the files to load with the webpage...

  • How do I get videos that I recorded off of my iPhone so I can upload them to Facebook? I cannot send them via email nor MMS because it says they're too big.

How do I get videos that I recorded off of my iPhone so I can upload them to Facebook? I cannot send them via email nor MMS because it says they're too big.

iTunes is not used to move photos and videos from an iPhone to a computer (it is used to move them the other direction).
Also note that a connected phone or camera does not show in the Finder on a Mac. It should show in Image Capture or iPhoto.
The following has instructions on how to move them: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Another option is 3rd party software such as http://www.photosync-app.com

  • I keep hearing that I can't email videos from iPhoto because they are too big. What I don't understand is that I was able to send videos via email in the past. Why?

I keep hearing that I can't email videos from iphoto because they are too big. What I don't understand is that I have emailed videos via email in the past. Why is that?

    Look at your settings iPhoto>Preferences>Accounts
and make changes here or add your email account if not in the list
One thing to look at for sure is the SMTP sever name, I think by default it fills it in as smtp.me.com  or some such,  which may not be your email outgoing server.

  • I have taken videos with my ipad and they are too big to e-mail.

Is there a way to compress them, on ipad, or keep them from getting too big in the first place?
I have looked all over in settings and I can't anything to tell it how big to make the files or how to lessen the quality so the file wouldn't get to big or anything like that.
Then I looked for an app that might be able to do that. Like compressor for iPad. I didn't even know that there was something named compressor, I went looking for quicktime pro and found that.
Does anyone know if what I'm asking is possible?

Get it onto your computer. Then there are free programs like mpegstreamclip that will allow you to make it smaller (as in it records hidef and you can make it smaller pixelwise, which also reduces the size, like 320x280.
you can then upload that to youtube and then share hte links with your family. (if you don't want to share the movies with the world, there are settings in youtube where you can make it 'unlisted' and only people that have the address can see your video)
theoretically you can upload that 800 megger, presuming it's less than 8 minutes, but it'll take you quite a while both to upload and to process.
I did get it unto my computer that is how know how big it was. I have tried a 'shrinking' program. The one I got and used is named Format Factory, and the one you said, mpegstreamclip, was mentioned in the other forum that I found a day or so back. It came out too pixelated for my liking, tha that is why I said I would use different settings or try another program.
The files is longer than 8 mins and yeah, I know it would take a while to do just about anything with it.

  • I want to email a quicktime video of my screen but file too big.

I just found I can capture doing something on my desktop as a tutorial to send to a friend.  I did one, but it was more than 28Gb ...it was 128, and would not go through.   Icloud bounced it back---too large to send.      How do I send ANY size video by email ?  And can my friend open it on her end without special software?    Even if I get software to send, can it then be opened by anyone else?

If someone else can open the video file depends on what format the file is in and what operating system and applications they have installed on their system.
As for getting them the file, video is big. Any video of over a few mins will be tough to email as all email providers have limits of the size of files  they will send.
You might want to look into getting an account with a file sharing service such as Dropbox. Then you can upload the file to your Dropbox account and the other user can get it from there.
