Video too long

I have just finished editing a video of our local theater company's production of "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial."  The total length of the program is 2 hours 15+ minutes, with credits and bows.  I can't get the program under two hours without cutting content, which I am not willing to do.  Is there a compression program which will allow me to burn this to standard DVD-R's, or must I either burn to double density DVD-R's or split the play into one act per CD?

Here are the presets.
As you can see there is only one DVD preset which will produce DVDs up to 2 hours long.
However, you can duplicate it and change the Bit Rate and Aspect Ratio to suit your needs using the Inspector.
You will also need the Dolby preset as the MPEG-2 one does not include audio.
P.S. You didn't say which version of Compressor you have.
My screengrab is for Compressor 4 which has only one preset.  Compressor 3 has quite a few presets for different video lengths.

I have IPAD IOS 7 but am unable to move a video, almost 2 minutes in length off the IPAD in either email or direct connection to my laptop...message I get is "video too long to send"...I am just trying to get this video off my IPAD and into permanent storage.
I bought app VideoEmail tried to move video quality setting to "low" but it still only sends part of the video.

    Shut down the app...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon until they wiggle
    - Press the red to delete the offending app from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.

  • Video too long.......not

I have a 1hr 20min video(exorted from FCP)........iDVD tells me it is too long.......what in the wide wide world of sports is a going on here. I have set the prefs to both quality and performance.......neither lets me burn a disc.
maybe I need to trash the prefs. any ideas, thanks.

when it hits the "Audio Encoding" portion, iDVD stops responding and FREEZES
iDVD always freezes to some degree when it hits audio encoding, and you will see a spinning beachball. Some users havemade good DVDs after waiting hours and hours for this ...so I'd suggest waiting on iDVD for at least as long as it took to encode the video, or better yet let it go overnight. Turn off energy saver (set sleep to never) prefs. and screensavers too.

  • TS3899 Video too long to email

I'm trying to email a video from my iPhone but I keep getting a message saying that it's too long and that I need to edit it.  I've emailed longer videos in the past and have been successful.  What am I doing wrong?

Hello Jenkjat, what you are describing is one of the iPhone's most frustrating limitations. It has nothing to do with the size of the email attachment. Apple has simply decided that 52 seconds of video is the longest that can be emailed, end of story. This usually corresponds to around a 5-6 mb file.
Considering that a standard Corporate Gmail account can send 25 mb attachments this restriction does not make sense. The same "logic" applies to sending pictures. Apple has decided that you can only email 5 pictures at a time, try to select the 6th image and the email icon will not come up. You can of course go into the email program and attach one image at a time (insert image) and the go on but that is tedious and not very logical.
The best solution to the issue of sending longer videos is to download the Google Drive App and set up a folder within Gdock's that have the preferred sharing privileges and then upload to this. However, a 5 minute video will NOT be 25 mb or so as the otherwise excellent iPhone compression software (that kicks in when you email a video) is not used. Therefore the file will be very large and completely unpractical to upload even on 4G as it would use up too much data.
There are also Apps out there that allows for longer videos to be emailed but I have not found anything yet that works as well as Apple original. Any ideas or suggestons anyone?

  • Video too long to send!

I took a video on the 3Gs which is over 5 minutes. Is it possible to divide it up into 2 videos or else to shorten it?
What is the maximum lenght for a video to be either emailed or sent to You Tube?
    Thanks a lot,
    Howard

There is no limit per se - it all depends on limits your email provider has set up for attachements.

  • When I take a video with my iPad, why isn't sharing with Facebook an option? Also if I take a video that is 1 min 23 sec, how is that too long for an email?

Why is 1min 23 second video too long for email?

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

I made a 3-minute movie with my iphone 4S. When I attempt to share it via email or message I get a message that says it is too long, that I should try to make a clip. Of course I had rather send the whole thing. What are the possibilities? I think my music and likely my videos and pictures are in the cloud.

  • How can I download a 18 minute video I recorded from my iPad to either email or youtube or vimeo I keep getting the message the file is too long.

How can I transfer a 18 minute video I recorded on my iPad camera app to email/youtube or vimeo? I keep getting the message the file is too long do want to send clips?
    Thanks

Youtube usually had an 8 minute length cap, which may be part of your issue. Also at 18 minutes that is probably a gig+ file size, which will also take a long time to upload and may be another part of the issue.
Edit it down as jim suggested. Or you may need to use something like dropbox, to get it off your ipad and onto a computer where might have more options to edit it down or size it down.
If it's just file size you can transcode it into a smaller file - a lower quality MP4 for example. If it's the length that's an issue for youtube, you'll need to break it up into a couple different files and upload part 1 and part 2

  • I am trying to use my IPAD to video students in my conducting class, then email them the video for self evaluation.  However, many of the video clips are too long to email.  Is there anyway to compress the video clips and still email them so they can view

I am trying to use my IPAD to video students in my conducting class, then email them the video for self evaluation.  However, many of the clips are too long to send.  Is there a way I can compress the clips and still send them via email so they can open and them using Quicken?
    Muzakmn

It depends on the clips' content, their current format, and how much you would need to compress them, but in most cases and with most email systems, it's difficult to impossible to compress a clip enough to be able to get it through the attachment size limits of most email providers and still have the video be comprehensible. You'll probably need to find a web site or other method where you could post the videos for download by the students.
You can try compression and trimming, though, and see if you can get the video small enough to email. An attachment often has to be 3MB or less to go through, though it depends entirely on the email systems on both ends. If you look to the right under "more like this" you'll find similar threads on the subject.
    Regards.

  • How do you eamail or text video that is too long?

i video taped a skit my kids did at summer camp, and it is too long to email or SMS.  How can you sync it and send as attachment?

You can't send it. You can crop it via the Photos app or upload it on Youtube and send the link.

  • How do I export my iMovie '11 video and burn it to a DVD? I've tried 'Share' - 'Media Browser', 'iDVD', and 'Export Movie' but always get an error message indicating that my movie is too long to publish. Thoughts?

How do I export my iMovie '11 video and burn it to a DVD? I've tried 'Share' - 'Media Browser', 'iDVD', and 'Export Movie' but always get an error message indicating that my movie is too long to publish. Thoughts? Additionally, what does 'File' 'Finalize Project' do?

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

  • Trying to email a 3 minute video from my ipad2 but it says it is too long.  Is there a way to get around this?

how to send a 3 minute video via email from the ipad2..I tried but it says it is too long.  Is there a way to circumvent this?  Or if not, how do I break it up (how ridiculous) so that I can send it?

Thank you for the recommendation! Being my impatient self I am trying the app VideoEmail, but although my ipad made the sound as if the email went through... It is not showing up in my sent box. Also, too late to contact recipients to see if they got it. So tomorrow I will probably be trying GoodReader! Thanks again!

  • Why can't i email my video?  It says it is too long.

Please can you tell me why my iPad is telling me I can't email a video to myself.  I get a message saying it is too long.  The reason I can't understand this is as follows:
    1.  The clip is quite short - maybe a minute or so.
    2.  I am sending it via MY OWN wifi network (so it has no impact on my carrier)
    3.  I am sending it to MY OWN email account on MY OWN network server (so it's not as if there are any space or bandwidth issues anywhere)
I hope there is a workaround.  I don't want to have to carry around my MacBook with my iPad just so that I can send short videos via email.

    Lex,
You say that it has nothing to do with Apple but they are the people that write the email code that generates the message aren't they?
Regarding your "You can see how big the file is: in Finder right click on the file, and 'get info'.", there is no Finder app on the iPad is there?  I assume that to find out how big the file is, I would first have to get it onto the Mac?

I have been having lagging problems with YouTube videos for a number of months now. It simply takes so long for the red bar to completely load and the videos frequently pause and take too long to restart playing again. Even with little 2 and 3 minute videos.
I have a fast computer and my webpages load really, really fast. I have FireFox 4 browser and a Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. So I don't have a slow computer or web browser. But these slow YouTube vids take way too long to load for some reason.
Does anyone have any idea how I can speed up YouTube?

    Hi
The forums are customer to customer in the first instance, Only the mods (BT) will ask for personal information through a email link. Would you mind posting your Hub stats & BT speed test results this will help all with diagnosis-
To post the full stats from your router
    for home hub - 192.168.1.254
Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right
Click on More Details and then post the results.
Run BT speed tester and post the results from http://speedtester.bt.com/
If possible it would be best to connect to the BT master socket this will rule out any telephone/broadband extension wiring also consider the housing of the hub/router as anything electrical can cause problems as these are your responsibility, if these are found to be the case Openreach (engineer) will charge BT Broadband, which will be passed onto you, around £130.00.
Noisy line! When making telephone calls, if so this is not good for your broadband, you can check-
Quite line test dial 17070 option 2 and listen - should hear nothing best done with old type analogue phone digital (dect) will do but may have slight hiss If you hear noise- crackling pops etc, report it as a noisy line on your phone, don’t mention broadband, Bt Faults on 151.
As for your FTTC its available in some areas between 40% & 80% of customers in enabled areas can receive it!

  • Page takes too long to load because of videos

Hi. I have a website that I made, but the page takes too long to load because there are videos on it. Is there any way to stop the videos from auto-loading and instead only load when someone clicks on them to play?

There are several ways to have videos on a page without having them load until they are selected to play. A couple are:
1 - Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. This test site has 9 videos on the page: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes.
2 - QT Movies via Export for Web in QT Player. This method is more difficult to implement.
