Video track randomly glitching and hanging during playback

not sure if this should be here or in the compressor forum, appologies for that....
I am building a fairly simple DVD with the main track being 35 minutes and then the "bonus features" consisting of one track with about 12 chapters and stories for the "play all" button...
Anyways, the extra features seem to play fine but the main track seems to be randomly glitching and/or hanging up during playback...sometimes near the beginning, sometimes near the end, totally different experiences on different DVD players as well as the same player at other times...
Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might begin to diagnose this? I have built many similar DVDs in the past but have not encountered this before and need to be quite confident in the master before we press 10,000 copies!
I have encoded all media in compressor using "90 Minutes Best Quality" setting..

Whoa!!! I'd back up here and make sure you have your "T" s crossed before your continue with 10,000 discs! What were your bitrates for the main track and Bonus features? Did you use AC3 audio? DVD has a bitrate ceilings of 9.8 for video. Its also important you check your bitrates in a viewer to makes sure your OK.
Bitrates are the most crucial part to control in DVD.

Why does my 16gb 6th generation ipod nano skip and stutter during playback?

    Try a hard reset first.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button
until the screen goes dark. The Apple logo appears after a few seconds,
    and then the Home screen.
If that doesn't work, try a restore of the device in iTunes.
Otherwise, does this skipping and stuttering only happen with certain tracks?  What format are these tracks in and where they come from (outside of iTunes or from the iTunes store itself)?

  • Premiere Pro CC(V.8.0) sluggish and crashes during Playback

    Issue:
Premiere Pro CC(V.8.0) extremely sluggish and crashes during Playback. My video won't play at all unless I render (which is no problem). I render all my clips and attempt to play it back. It usually will allow me to watch it the first time around. After that, the program freezes up or becomes extremely sluggish. I have even had a blank green screen pop up on my playback monitor. Sometimes the program will generate the message "A Serious Error has occurred" and will shut down. Other times, the program just locks up. I am not running any other programs except email.
    Here is what I've tried:
    Cleared all my cache files
Set my Mercury Playback set to "Software only"
Restarted the program and computer after doing the above.
Made sure I had no RGB Curves as an effect (as I did see that was an issue from other threads)
    Deleted all unused footage
Deleted all render files and re-rendered everything.
I am editing footage that requires Ultra Key. I am using a Three-Way Color Corrector. My video isn't even 1 minute long, so I would think it would be easy to render and playback.
Here is what I am working on (I know I need an upgrade - was hoping to after I finished this client's project):

    Sounds like a corrupt download.
    From iPad:
Delete the albums: swipe you finger across and tap delete
Make sure you have a good internet connection & re-download: Open iTunes app > More > Purchased
    From computer:
Delete the albums: Select > right-click > delete
Go to iTunes Store > Purchased (in Quick Links on the right)

  • IDVD slideshow DVD pauses video and audio during playback...messages about sleeping DVD player

I have just burned a slideshow on iDVD from iPhoto book project. During playback, the DVD player pauses with photo visible and audio stops for same time, and then resumes after about 5 seconds. I thought the MP3 (purchased from Amazon because it was not in iTunes) format may have been the issue, so, I converted to AAC, and rebuilt slideshow from scratch using AAC music. During Preview playback, the problem does NOT exhibit...only when played from produced DVD on both computer or DVD player. I only have this one pause at same time on every DVD burned. Is AIFF a probable solution? I saw a message saying DVD player "Sleeping" or "DVD player waked from sleeping" at beginning and end of this pause.

  • Songs have glitches and skip during the song

As of version 12.1, my songs skip and glitch and it sounds horrible. Each song (with the exception of a few) stop playing for a split second about 50-100 times during the playing of each song. Most of my music has a bitrate of 320 kbps and sounded perfect and smooth before this update. Now, all of a sudden, it plays songs like I have a cd player and am jogging. Before, the songs in my iTunes and on my ipod sounded smooth. Then I updated to 12.1, synced my ipod, now both in my iTunes and on my smart ipod, it sounds skippy and glitches throughout. What is this?  Thank you.

There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77.  The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer.  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio - one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.
By the way, yours is the first example I've seen of iPod playback issues after updating to 12.1.  One of the changes in this release does relate to sync processes so you may have discovered a second issue - the one related to playback in iTunes seems to be related to conflicts or incompatibilities with Windows audio services and drivers.

  • Video downloaded directly to iPhone stops during playback

I downloaded a video from the iTunes store directly to my iPhone 3Gs. Now during playback, it stops
at a particular point and will not continue playing. Of I try to drag the scrubber forward in the video, it snaps back to the point where it stopped. What could be the problem with this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance,

find the file in iTunes (you may need to sync it if you downloaded directly to the iPhone), then click on it, and then click on "file -> get info" on the menu bar. go to the "options" tab and see if the "end time" is something besides the actual end time of the file. that's the only thing i can think of that would cause this issue.

  • Footage jumps in Final Cut X and Quicktime during playback

I did a simple SLOW pan shot with my Canon C100 with the media being recorded on to the Ninja 2. I transfer the media from the Ninja 2 on to an External Thunderbolt Hard Drive. When I play back the footage it jumps around. I also tried the clip in the Apple store and got the same result.
When I play the clip on my friends PC it plays smoothly.
I'm shooting Pro Res 422, 10 Bit rate, using a Mac Book Pro, OS 10.9.5,  Final Cut X 10.1.3 and I have 16 gigs of ram.
    Why is the footage jumpy?

    Greetings Vibrant
I was thinking that your problem may lay in the SD card being not quick enough to capture the camera's 10 bit HD vision and was dropping frames etc but, you mentioned you are recoding onto an external Ninja 2 so surely that must be quick enough to record the output of the camera you would think.
I'm tending to think that your MacBook Pro, in particular it's graphics card, is not up to the task of playing back 10 bit full HD content.
Your best bet to decipher if it's the Ninja 2 thats the problem (dropping frames during capture) or the MacBook Pro during playback would be to export/convert the vision into H.264 or something smaller in size and bitrate and then play that back on the MacBook, another Mac, iPad, iPhone etc. If it's smooth, then the MacBook would be the problem. If it's still jumpy, then the problem could lay with the output to the Ninja, or the Ninja itself.
Have you tried playing back the vision from in-camera/Ninja connected directly to a HD TV ??
I've been having a **** of time these past few weeks with my newly acquired Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with jumpy vision. Tried all of the above, sending the vision in it's native form and also numerous varying conversions, from my 27" Quad-Core iMac to my MacBook Pro, iPad Air, iPhone 5, to my TiVo's and even last night burnt onto a DVD to playback in my Blu-Ray player in the theatre room. All to no avail. I've purchased a second expensive SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s card thinking the first card was a fake or something, and the new card has made no difference either.
I even completely formatted and clean installed OSx Mavericks on my MacBook Pro just to double check, but it's still choppy.
The vision even plays back choppy in the BMPCC through HDMI to a HD television but not as bad to be honest, so i'm now, after all this testing, consigned to think the camera is kaput, as the vision looks more like a huge vertical sync problem on my camera, as opposed to simple dropped frames as this camera is prone to with not so good/unsupported SD cards.
Hope that helps you a little in running tests to find where the problem lies with your vision.
P.S. I read recently during my last two weeks of wasting far too much time troubleshooting my own problem that it's best to NOT have journaling enabled on your external disk(s) that you use to capture and edit with in FCPX. Apparently Journaling slows down the read/write of the drive potentially causing stuttering to high bit-rate HD video. I'm about to disable journaling on my FCPX disk and test the outcome shortly.
Although, you are running Thunderbolt disk so you wouldn't think such a fast medium would be affected by such a thing. But, stranger things have happened   .
    Regards
    Paul

  • Rented Movies pause and skip during playback......................

I am running iTunes 9.2. The last three movies I have rented pause and then skip ahead 6 seconds during playback. Its like with compujter cannot keep up. It happens at ramdom times but happens often, sometimes two or three times a minute. All movies were completly downloaded before playback. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with purchased video content.
I am NOT a happy camper right now. I was really looking forward to purchasing a season pass for one of my favorite programs, but not until this is resolved
I also can't figure out how to play the itunes purchased videos directly in Quicktime. It used to be possible in preferences, but it looks like that feature is missing from this current version.

  • Camera video preview - Random crashes and green screens

    Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a Windows Phone 8.1 app and I need to preview video from the phone's back camera. For quite some time I've been struggling with random crashes and green screens. When these green screens appear, all camera apps become affected and
the device needs to be restarted. Occasionally the phone freezes and only recovers after battery removal. I test the app on my Lumia 620.
After some web search, I found references to the same problem by many users/developers of different apps. I'm really frustrated as I've tried many possible solutions with no avail.
Here is part of my code:

Any help towards a solution will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I will also advice that you start by following the
    Windows Store app sample.
Is this a Windows Phone app?
The crash/green screen only manifests itself when I suspend my app and switch to the default camera app (could be any other camera app perhaps). It happens roughly 1 out of 8 times. That's why I posted the suspension and resuming handlers, which I wrote
    according to the msdn instructions.
    I found
this page with a sample that demonstrates the MediaCapture API for Windows Phone. Some developers have reported problems similar as mine. Has Microsoft dealt with this issue?
I've spent quite a few weeks trying to investigate this problem, without actually knowing if it is my code that needs to be debugged. That's why I'm asking if other developers are facing similar problems.
    Thank you
Edit: It seems that the crash/green screen can appear when suspending/switching to any app (regardless if it uses the camera or not). Also, all works fine when the app is running on the debugger.

  • When i'm watching a show or movie on iTunes, the video will randomly freeze and the audio will continue, the video catches up after awhile, but it does it again. This happens to all my shows, and I downloaded them from iTunes. Why is this happening?

Whenever I try to watch movies on iTunes on my computer, the video will randomly freeze, but the audio will continue. This happens will all of my shows, however this never happens on my iPod or iPad. Whenever I want to watch a new movie I buy or any of my shows this problem keeps happening. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it did not work. Why does this problem keep happening, and how can I fix it? Thank you.

  • Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0 Hanging During Playback

    Hi there,
On of our editors has been experiencing Premiere hanging up on them multiple times a day during very basic actions like copying small clips or playback. The project she's working on is a 2 hour feature around 65MB with all ProRes footage on a file sharing server connected via 10GbE with the project file and media cache located locally. The editing station is a 2014 iMac with 4GHz i7 and 32GB RAM. I'm not too knowledgeable about Premiere but am wondering if there are also some settings or changes to their workflow that could optimize working with this project. There are tons of audio and video layers in the project and I'm wondering if that could be affecting performance? Again, I'm no expert but any thoughts as to why this is happening would be a huge help!
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

No we didn't. Thanks for the suggestion Kevin, I'll do so and then post with an update with any progress.
    Thanks,

  • Itunes exhausts memory and hangs during gapless analysis

Symptom: Memory exhaustion leading to application hang
Impact: Itunes unusable -- hangs 2-3 minutes after launch while "determining gapless playback"
Perfmon shows itunes consuming >= 2G or RAM when it stops responding
    Itunes: 9.2.1.5
System: fully patched W7, running on core5 with 3G of RAM, 2T of free disk, single user. No other apps running
Itunes diagnostics: pass with no issues ID'd
Fresh install of itunes does not solve problem
Recreation of library from scratch does not solve problem.
No particular songs/albums cause the problem.
Appears to be tied to size of library (~10K songs)
Can I cap the amount of memory itunes uses (to force a write to disk)?
    Can I disable gapless scan?
Can I access additional debug info?
Does the application really require >200K per song to do this analysis????

Sounds like this probably isn't related to your issue, but I had the exact same symptoms as you (iTunes rapidly increases memory usage until it eventually fails) I was also getting "The iTunes library cannot be saved. There is not enough memory." after it hogged all available memory (usually after it got to 1.2GB or so).
I'll post my resolution in case anyone else comes across this.
I was able to track my issue down to what appeared to be corrupt album art (!!). I first noticed that the issue would only occur when I viewed a playlist that had some new songs added to it. I noticed that some of the album art, from the "Get Info -> Artwork Tab" view appeared as nothing but a tiny black square.
I selected all in the playlist, did a "Get Info" on all the files, and then checked the Artwork box and left it blank (essentially clearing all artwork from all files in the playlist).
After that, I'm no longer having the issue, and iTunes is sitting around 70MB of memory usage.

  • Music starts and stops during playback of burned DVD

I really need help with this problem...I made a slideshow and added music from itunes in the program IDVD. Once I burned the DVD the music will start and stop throughout the DVD and not at chapters as I read in other threads - but in random places on the DVD. The DVD sounds like it gets hung up and then starts again. This is my first project using IDVD, so any help would be great.

    Debra,
Do your project have music purchased from iTunes? If so, that could be the cause of this problem. Music from iTunes is DRM-protected and can cause problems in playback. To take care of this, first burn all of your purchased music to a CD, then reimport in an aiff format. To do this, in iTunes, go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing. Look for "Import using", and use the drop-down menu to select AIFF encoder.
    Good luck.

  • Random chirping/hiccup sounds during playback?

I have a 5G 60GB Video iPod. While listening to my music on it, it will make random chirping/hiccup sounds through ever song. I know it isn't the song file, because when it first started happening, I'd review back and it wouldn't ever make the sounds in the same part of the song twice.
This never happens while I'm listening to the iPod through i-Tunes, just when it's through earphones and synced in the car. I've tried restoring the iPod several times, searched endlessly online for any similar instances of this happening and can't find anything.
I can't describe the noise any better than a chirp, skip, pop, hiccup...I can't find anything. Any information about getting this problem fixed would be so appreciated!!

Hi, I have the exact same problem... did you find an answer for this? a solution? I was about to buy a new one (6th Gen, Classic) but I then Googled for it and found they have the same problem so upgrading to a new one wont resolve the issue... cant understand why Apple haven't do anything about it.
