Video Trailers

What is the video codec and quality of the Front Row video trailers?

Most appear to be H.264.

  • Apple Video Trailers not working/Memory Hog

    Hello,
When I go to apple.com/trailers, the trailers do not display I keep seeing that grey wheel turn endlessly. When I try to view it in Firefox, it works perfectly fine. Anyone know why Safari would be doing this?
Another issue that I have is that Safari eats up memory. I saw it once hit 750mb and it keeps growing without getting any smaller. Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

I know this is an older post, but I've been tearing what's left of my hair out over the past couple of hours trying to find the cause to exactly the same problem described above (restarts did not fix the problem for me):
Going to "www.apple.com/trailers" in Safari produces the grey spinning sprocket-wheel where the trailer titles are supposed to be (lower half of the window). I can't seem to fix this (reinstalled Safari, deleted a bunch of plug-ins and preference files, etc etc). This problem does not reproduce in Firefox 3, where the page loads fine. I know this started happening sometime in December but I didn't pay much attention to it, but now I'm wondering if it all started with the Safari 3.2.1 update in late November.
If anybody has any clues that might help fix this, that would be awesome. Thanks !!

  • Front Row video trailers

i've noticed that when when i'm watching movie trailers in front row the album art for the movie trailer is blurry and has a low resolution, lower than what it's suppossed to be. how do i make the image more clear?

You don't. Its just how they are pulled off the Internet. Some are at higher resolutions than others.

  • New User - Need Help - Video Trailers

I made a 15 min DVD usind IDVD, it looks good on the IMAC but when I play it on an external DVD player, the motion has trailers (esp when there is a lot going on). Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
    IMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

We need some more specific information so we can help.
    1. Where did the info in iDVD come from (iPhoto, iMovie, mini DV camera etc)??
    2. How did it get into iDVD (if from iMovie, did you share/export it)?
    3. Did you burn directly from iDVD or did you save to disk and burn from Disk Utility?
    4. What sort of media did you use? (Verbatim-R recommended).
    5. What speed did you burn the project at? (x1 or x2 recommended).
    6. Did you create a project for NTSC or PAL and show it on applicable tv?

  • Videos/trailers on IMDb dont play at all, whereas they do on other browsers, any suggestions?...I have minimal add-ons and have practically just stated with the RC

Trailers work fine with chrome, only add-ons I have are ghoster, omnibar, speed dial and tab utilities

Problem solved...It was the ghostery add-on, which is a shame

  • Problems with streaming videos from Apple trailers

I currently have QT Pro 7.4.5 and whenever I try to look at video trailers on the apple website a blank video feed appears with the grey playback toolbar thingy on the bottom. I can hear the audio but there is no video. In addition when I click on the high def. option the options for the various qualities of HD do not appear to me immediately, it is only after a few refreshes do the icons appear for 720 or 1080. Can you help me out with both or one, thanks.

There is an app called "stream to me" for the iPad that allows you to stream your movies from your Mac.
I bought it and ot works well. I don't know if you have a Mac but if so, this could be a pretty good solution for you.

  • Colors using Apple TV versus a DVI to Video Adapter

Apple TV does not generate identical colors on my Panasonic flat screen (even when I adjust the screen's tint and/or colors) when I view iPhotos or videos (trailers, rented movies, homemade movies, etc.). However, Apple's DVI to Video Adapter (which only costs $19) does, and to perfection; the colors viewed on the Panasonic flat screen are identical to the images' colors on my MacBook Pro.
Does this make sense? Why wouldn't the more convenient Apple TV deliver the same results? Or is there something wrong with my $400 Apple TV?
    Thanks for any advice.
    Bob

You're still being a little 'cagey' and not giving us exactly the full information: "..The Apple TV is connected to the Panasonic flat screen via RBG component cables, run through a receiver.." ..the "receiver" is, presumably, a TV set or tuner. So is the Panasonic a TV set, or is it a dumb screen just connected - somehow - to a TV receiver?
You say "..For example, skin tones are way off, and a pink item in a photo can appear purple on the flat screen.." ..I'm not too good with colours, but it may be that your component connections are bad, and perhaps aren't making proper contact between your AppleTV and your "receiver" ..whatever that may be.
The component connections send specific colour ('chrominance') info, unlike the 'Video' (composite) output which sends the entire picture (all colours together) down a single cable, or the 'S-Video' signals which send colour (all together) and a separate brightness signal down different wires.
For a brief intro, see this 'Video Signal Standards' page ..or perhaps you already know all that.
It seems as if perhaps your component cables are connected to the wrong pins, have faulty connections, or your 'Component' input hasn't been properly selected on your Panasonic ..ahem: on your "receiver" ..or maybe your receiver's output is weirdly mismatched to your Panasonic screen.
Check your component connections at both ends: AppleTV and, er, "receiver". Pull them out one by one and see if there's a difference ..then put them back one by one ..or try putting them IN into different sockets. There's also a difference between analog and digital component connections: see the manual of your Panasonic and your, er, "receiver" to understand better what kind of incoming signal your equipment expects.
It could be just a loose wire, a wire in the wrong socket, or an incorrectly set up menu on your Panny - or your "receiver"!
Whoops - I've just re-read your last post: "..The Apple TV is connected to the Panasonic flat screen via RBG component cables, run through a receiver.."
The component cable are NOT "RBG" (..they're not even RGB, which is what I think you meant..) ..RGB (Red Green Blue) is not the component signal which the AppleTV provides: the ATV provides YUV component signals, generally referred to - or their connections on a TV (..or "receiver"..) designated by - 'YCbCr' or 'YPbPr' which would normally have sockets coloured whitish, bluey-green and red.
I think you've probably got your YPbPr wires crossed. The red, blue and green connections on the back of the AppleTV should NOT be attached to RGB connections on a TV (..or "receiver"..) but to the 'YCbCr' or 'YPbPr' sockets. If you have only 'RGB' sockets on the back of your (older?) equipment, that connection expects a different kind of signal, and the colours will be wrong. Maybe this article may help a little, or search with Google for more information..
Oh: and Winston says "..Have you tried toggling your HDMI setting on the tv, give all the settings (Auto/YCbCr/RGB) a whirl and see if this improves your experience.." Maybe you need to try switching the signal between YCbCr and RGB on the component output of your AppleTV (..if that's an option in its Settings menu; can't remember if it is or not..) to make sure that the output signal of your AppleTV matches the input which your other equipment is expecting!

  • ITunes 7.6 No Audio When Playing a Music Video or Movie

I just installed iTunes 7.6.0.29 (It was released today).
There is no audio when playing a music video or a movie that I've purchased. Movie trailers and music videos in the iTunes store have no audio either. Videos from iTunes University that I've downloaded (such as an MIT lecture) play fine w/ audio.
Music audio (such as tracks I've purchased or tracks on the iTunes store) play fine.
QuickTime videos, such as a QT video on my desktop play fine. Windows Media Player works fine too.
So, why don't music videos and movies play (w/audio) on iTunes 7.6??

I'm experiencing what appears to be the exact same issue. I just installed iTunes 7.6.
    Video but no audio:
    Purchased iTunes TV episodes
Streamed video trailers in the iTunes Store
    Works fine:
All music files, including protected files purchased through iTunes
The standalone Quicktime player performs normally with MOV files. Windows Media Player still performs normally.
I found an old support doc complaining of a similar issue with a previous iTunes release and tried the suggested fix: Uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling it using the standalone installer (Quicktime 7.4). I also reinstalled iTunes. Neither solved the issue.
I'm very disappointed that I can no longer access the files I've purchased. I hope this is fixed very soon.

  • Beach Ball When Viewing Video

Running 5.0.2, I have this scenario constantly since upgrading to Safari 5+ :
    1. Safari has been running for several hours and I have 2-3 gigs free RAM according to Memory Stick.
    2. I go to apple.com/trailers to view movie trailers
    3. I choose a movie and click on the smallest size trailer available.
    4. I get a spinning beach ball for 30-60 seconds before the trailer plays.
    5. After the trailer, I can empty Safari's cache and clear the history, then quit and restart Safari.
    6. Go back to apple.com/trailers, pick a movie, a size trailer to view, and it begins to play almost instantly.
    7. This also occurs with video on other sites.
I have followed numerous suggestions from this forum on various Safari 5 issues (upgrade Flash, remove 3rd party plugins, repair permissions, etc.) all to no avail.
Does anyone know why I have to empty the cache in order to have videos/trailers load and play promptly?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    WK

Klaus - a follow up on the Safari video beach ball problem:
I implemented your suggestions about 24 hours ago. Just now, after a day of normal/heavy Safari use, I went back to apple.com/trailers and tried to view three new trailers. Same problem as before:
•First trailer: beach ball for 2+ minutes (not exaggerating) before trailer played. (Even then it was jerky.)
•Second trailer: beach ball for about 1 minute before trailer played.
•Third trailer: beach ball for about <10 seconds before trailer played.
Hey -- at least the wait times are getting shorter the more I try to watch!
So apparently the fixes to the QuickTime settings weren't a fix.
I then emptied the Safari cache (Safari menu) and went back to Trailer #1 (above). It began playing after about a 5 second wait (as did #s 2 and 3). So somehow emptying the Safari cache before playing trailers helps a lot.
If anyone has further thoughts on this mystery, I'm all ears. Thanks for your efforts thus far.

  • Video Playback Dark

Whenever I playback video using Quicktime, or in Final Cut Pro, just video playback period, videos are always very dark, and details hard to see. When I playback the exact same video (trailer from apple) then it plays back fine and with brightness and detail on a Cinema Display. Is that natural? I have a MBP with Glossy Screen.

Ron, this is slightly confusing to me:
+Whenever I playback video using Quicktime, or in Final Cut Pro, just video playback period, videos are always very dark, and details hard to see.+
So for the above, I assume (from what you say in the second sentence) we are talking about video trailers from Apple, correct? Here is your second sentence:
+When I playback the exact same video (trailer from apple) then it plays back fine and with brightness and detail on a Cinema Display.+
So are you saying that you are not using Quicktime or FCP when you play back the "exact same video trailer" that you played the first time with bad results? What program are you using when the Apple video trailer plays back fine?
Sorry to just be asking questions without providing any advice or solution, but I am trying to understand better.

  • Playing Video or Movie

What do I need to do to make videos or movies keep playing with not stopping if they are part of a list?
I always need to select the next video for playing.
Is there a way to make iPod plays a list of videos automatically?

I'm experiencing what appears to be the exact same issue. I just installed iTunes 7.6.

  • Itunes 11.3 not playing Film trailers or Purchased TV movies

Itunes 11.3 not playing Film trailers or Purchased TV movies, will only play music video trailers! Plays songs fine! Running Mavericks 10.9.4 on iMac mid 2014. Have 8gb ram and 1.4ghz processor with turbo boost to 2.4ghz. So it is not a power issue. Is this a bug in the newest version of iTunes?

And don't come on here justifying Apple's stance on this.
Well, movies play from my iPad and my iPod via both the HDMI cable and Apple TV just fine and I was going to ask for details regarding your difficulties.    However...

  • Pictures are tinted red when playing on TV

Has anyone experienced and/or solved this issue? When playing pictures from the library (not streaming) they are all tinted with a reddish hue. This happened after a few hours of normal operation. I restarted the machine and it did nothing to help the problem. i checked all the cables, the component cables are set correctly.i checked the TV colour menu, and everything is set correctly. i set the machine back to factory standards and after syncing the library again, i still get that red tint.
i bought this as a gift to a family member, but it's been more of a hassle than a gift...
    anyone has any ideas?

    Sounds odd.
Do movie/video trailers look red too? If so I'd suspect a loose connection in the leads or a failure of the TV component input or AppleTV component output - can you try a DVD player or something with component output to see if it narrows it down to AppleTV?
I assume the photos look ok on the synced computer - it is possible that the synced computer has a badly uncalibrated monitor and that the user has made the photos look good on the monitor which then causes them too look bad on a decent display. long shot that though. Is the famly member syncing from PC or Mac?
Any chance the images are in some peculiar colour space which AppleTV isn't handling?
Can you burn some images to a CD/DVD and display them via a DVD player - if so and they look odd it's likely to be the images.
Any example images you can post?

  • Qt pro 7, full screen

1 -I have QT Pro 7, but in trying to play some video trailers from qt list, i can't seem to make the Full Screen function work, as it is grayed out, even though I have full screen checked in my preferences.
2- also, should the full screen work while playing an itunes video.

The browser plug-in gets its instruction from the html code of the page you're viewing the file. You can't change these dimensions (or use full screen).
To view a file using QT Pro in full screen dimensions you must first save the file from the Web to your computer.
Use the disclosure triangle (right end of the controller) to "Save as Source" or "Save as QuickTime Movie" after the file has been completely downloaded in the browser window.
