Video transcoding is a must !

Hi there guys
so I am trying to watch a video in the library but as usual it takes a year to load...
that is really hurting the platform is it render the videos almost in usable
a simple fix is to apply video transcoding like plex, and it should be easy since the number of supported formats is already low
what this does is it detect what device are you watching from, chose an appropriate size to view, and finally dynamically change the res depending on your internet speed
what do you guys think ?

Is it required to have a primary key defined for the table by adding sequence no column. No, sequence is a database object independet of any column. So you can use that for any columns PK or not.
what all are the performance impact of adding a primary key? Adding a PK you are adding an index. Every time you change the table de index must be updated.
or if a primary key is not available. If you use just full table scans to access tha table, never mind. But if you want to read data through a code o something like that, the PK index may help you.

  • Simple Automated batch video transcoding

    Hi,
I am very new to FCS, all I want to do is have it scan my S3 mounted drive on my desktop, if there is content present grab that video and transcode it to MPEG4-webcasting, then place it into another S3 mounted drive (using expand drive to mount S3 to desktop). I have tried creating all my devices and scans/automations etc, I get errors saying "Failed to read media" then I try it in a folder it works and gets video but does not transcode it and place it anywhere... Please help me automate a simple video transcode.
    Thank you,
    Alex
    Thank you

Scans are for adding assets incrementally, not so much for simple transcoding (though they can be made to trigger transcodes of the assets that are scanned). What you want to do is set up watch folders for each type of transcode or destination. Then for each watcher, make a Copy response that transcodes to the format and destination. You will need to make each transcode setting you wish to use active for the destination devices you wish to send encoded files to. Add a Delete response to the Watcher stacks if you want to remove a file after it has been transcoded.

  • IP Video Transcoder?

Can Flash Media Live Encoder work with IP Video Signal as the Source? We have the source audio/video as compressed IP signal (MPEG2-TS). We need to convert this IP signal into Flash and live stream using Flash Media Servers. Do you have a live IP video transcoder solution for this purpose?

you will have to configure CCM to have IPC as a phone device, just as any other phone.
there are also a few SRST steps.

It may not be completely obvious, but it is, at least, categorized as Education with an, albeit small, disclaimer "(noted: this app is not the PowerPoint from Microsoft)"

  • Sharing Video - BBM or Text must be addressed

Long time user.  Very happy with the new phone and software.
I would like to make a suggestion.  As a loyal BB user and fan, I get frustrated when another device can do something my BB cannot....something that makes sense and is needed (I don't care about the add ones and APS I'll never use as a 'BB' client)
Sharing Video sucks on the BB, always has and must be addressed.  The new camera is great, but unless my wife takes a very very very very short video of the kids, she must upload it to you tube in order to share it.....she should be able to BBM/text me the video.
I hope some BB users agree, I'd like to keep my wife in a blackberry (she's always had one also and loves the Keyboard, upgrade to Q10, doesn't use it for business at all)  I'm a shareholder and a fan of the product....but not being able to share video with the push of a button (we don't use You Tube, don't care too) is a good reason for my wife to have an I PHONE......the last thing I want my BB to make me is frustrated and having to upload video to the internet to share it........FRUSTRATING!  Sort it out.
The new device does a good job fulfilling the needs of business users (loyal BB users) and has built a platform that fulfills important wants of the current smart phone user (many old and current BB users).
Little things like video sharing make a huge difference for the avg smart phone user, the stay at home moms, the non business users, students etc...

    Seriously Csherer

  • Video transcoding (5800 XM) - AVC

    Hi!
I love my new Nokia 5800 XM and would like to copy some videos onto the phone for watching on the go. I'm lazy so I decided to just use PC Suite to convert them. Have in mind I'm using 7.0, since I hated Nokia Music and switched back to a version that does what it's supposed to. I'm also with v21.0.0.25 firmware on the phone as I can't get the v30 update yet.
I picked the High quality setting, which transcoded my video to 624x352, avc video and aac audio. Unfortunately, the video won't play back on the phone - I get that lovely "Unable to play either sound or video clip. Trying to play partially" message and then it plays back the sound.
What's up with that? I thought the 5800 was supposed to play back H.264.
    Thanks

I don't know about the 5800 but the N97 just refuses to play back AVC (h264) at all. Since they share a lot in common I'm guessing that whatever is wrong is affecting both devices.
I hope a new firmware will fix it.
OVI Suite 1.1 doesn't convert the videos into H264 it uses MPEG-4 so they play correctly but be mindful of the high quality setting. A 720p (HD) AVI file I had that was 300 MB was converted down to the correct resolution but the ending file is over 900MB!, which doesn't make any sense at all. The High quality setting seems to use an extremely ridiculous high bitrate.

  • Video Transcoding on IPad

    Hi,
I have a desktop application on an iMac which would work as a local server. I have an iPad which would connect to this server over a local wi-fi network.
That desktop application would be containing videos.
Now, how do I transcode that video to a format that iOS supports ( ios 5.0 onwards ).?
    Thanks in advance.

I heard the next generation will have a webcam. But what about those of us who have this generation? I hope they make an external one. This was the main reason I opted for an iPad rather than a net book. Anyone hear anything about this?

  • Mac Mini (2009) to video output - surely it must be possible?

I've just bought a Mac Mini to replace my Apple TV, in an attempt to get a single Mac running my entire home entertainment setup. I have a 5-USB Mac Mini, 2.26 GHz core 2 duo, 4 GB RAM, 120 GB HD.
I'm trying to connect to a 6-year-old Hitachi Illumina projector. My first attempt was with Apple's Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, and whilst this worked, it turns out that my widescreen projector (for reasons known only to Hitachi) doesn't advertise any widescreen resolutions - it's 1024x768 or similar all the way. (The projector's native resolution is WVGA at 854x480). I've tried SwitchResX, but I can't get the projector to do anything other than 4:3 or similar no matter what I try.
Next, I tried Apple's Mini-DVI to Video adapter. Unfortunately, I didn't read the description for that adapter, so didn't see that it doesn't work with the Mini. I just assumed that since the Mini has Mini-DVI, and since it's the ideal machine for a media center, it would work. But it doesn't - the adapter isn't detected by the Mini at all.
So my question is: is there any way to get video (either composite or S-Video) out of the Mini? Would an Apple DVI to Video adapter, plugged into the Mini's "Mini-DVI to DVI" adapter, do the job?
My projector has Composite, S-Video, Component and VGA connectors on the back (no HDMI). There has got to be a way to get this to work... any ideas much appreciated!
Message was edited by: David Addey

I notice you mention being limited to a 4:3 resolution with the VGA connection. If you use composite or S-video you will be using an SD signal, which will normally just be 640x480, which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. The VGA and component connections should offer the highest resolutions. What is the model number of your projector, as I can find very little information about the Illumina series - and what I can find relates to 4:3 only.

  • Free video transcoding

I received an e-mail a few minutes ago announcing a free site where you can upload up to a 20GB file and they will transcode it to any one of quite a few formats.
    http://www.freeencoding.com/
It is associated with Videoblocks.com which I happily subscribe to.
It didn't like the MOV files from my all I-Frame codec (encoding failed), so I tried changing the extension of an MTS file (which it didn't recognize) to .mp4 and uploaded it, asking to have it encoded as a MOV file.
I don't know if this is a handy web site, almost completely usless, or what? It allowed me to save the converted file to my dropbox folder which I thought was rather interesting.
The conversion to MOV seemed to work, or I thought it did, but my Quicktime player didn't like it much. I had to download some plug-in or other. I don't really know what it did but it eventually played it.
I then tried a different MOV file (not all I-Frame) and it failed to convert also.
I find the concept of a free conversion site interesting, but I can't quite wrap my head around the usefulness of it.
    What do you think?

    True Jim to some degree.
Certainly when I was trying to edit AVCHD footage in its early days transcoding was the only way, until Edius was released in a form that could edit the native footage easily and as usual it was rock solid, at the time Premiere was useless.
The only way I could use Premiere was to use Cineform avi's, I did try as many free transcodes as I could but Cineform was by far the best at that time.
A few years later and we still have AVCHD issues with Premiere, sad

  • Videos stop... must press play ... can someone explain why?

    Hi,
I'm having the same problem a this person:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3822882?searchText=video stops
With my other (non Apple) computers, if the WiFi/internet network is too slow, videos will 'freeze', but will eventually resume on it's own without me hitting the 'play' button. I'm trying to understand why the iPad acts differently. Is this by design? No way to set it up to 'auto resume' once the data stream has caught up?
    Thanks

Probably it's the internal Mic of the Macbook feeding back.
If the Duet's not attached Logic defaults to the internal audio, so... Look and see what is selected as the audio input, if it's the Mic, set it to "Line".
You will have to switch it back to use the Macbook's Mic if you need it.

  • UT Video Codec settings for AVCHD .mts transcoding

    Howdy,
Been trying for a while to track down a jittery playback issue (as if frames are randomly held or skipped) when editing .mts files.
Jittery in PPcc and also after exporting to whatever... and especially using Youtube and Vimeo export presets.
VLC media player plays the .mts source files smoothly right off the SD card or HDD/SSD... most of the time, occasionally there is a hiccup but nothing like in PP.
The clips that do this are pretty much all of the panning clips and shot in either 24fps or 60fps 1080p.
I have seen this now on 2 different systems with different collections of .mts footage out of 2 different cameras.
Mine is a PC (running WIN7 i7 3770K 3.5Ghz, 16GB, GTX 660) and the other is a more powerful Mac with 32GB RAM (accustomed to smoothly dealing with RED footage).
I came across an Adobe suggestion to convert to a UTVideo codec ( http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/audio-video-glitches-avchd.html#id_49687 ) to deal with AVCHD... but it really didn't give much helpful info beyond the link to where it could be downloaded.
I tried the suggestion, downloaded the codec suite, made a preset in Media Encoder and transcoded, but it plays even worse than the AVCHD does natively (VLC doesn't recognize that codec for testing)
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best settings for the UT Video transcoding and/or hardware/software settings for the smoothest PP playback of .mts clips? I see in the forums here and elsewhere that lots of folks have various problems working with .mts footage in PP... I am hoping there is a functional solution beyond what I have unsuccessfully tried:
setting playback to 1/4 or 1/2
    rendering the sequance/timeline
    transcoding to .mp4/DNxHD
    clearing render files
    maximizing ram for PP usage
    closing all other apps
importing the whole 'private' folder from the SD card (which I can't seem to get PP to recognize anyway, it only will import the individual .mts files as far as I can tell)
    changed power options
turbo boost for the i7 on or off
and some other trial-and-errors gleaned from the forums that I can't recall at the moment
Any suggestions for what to try next or the proper settings for using the UT Video codec would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks/Cheers!

    Thanks Fuzzy!
Great article and it led to some more testing with a couple different lens, pan speeds, shutter speeds and frame rate combos... but still I am not finding anything definitive, I still get random, choppy/juddery playback (never seems to occur in the same place each time).
I have the frame drop indicator on and it says all is good (no dropped frames).
VLC and PotPlayer tend to play the clips off the card just fine, but does once in a while skip... a data transfer problem? I have played off the SD card and SSD main drive and my media HDD.
Caught a recent thread with others having sudden choppy playback, might be related?  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5938794#5938794
    I have PPro CC 7.2.0 (46)
But the suggestion to clear cache and reset preferences didn't seem to make a difference on my machine.
    Still ???
Going to try playing the same clips on a friends SUPER Mac and see what happens... although he sees the same thing with the .mts footage he already has.
    Onward!

  • Dynamic LINKED AE Menu is Transcoding every build

I'm Using Encore CS5.1 which I have been for a year now. When I go and build the DVD it transcodes every file quite fast, maybe 3-5 minutes per clip which avergae around 3 minutes long. All files are dynamically linked Premier Pro Files. Then my first play intro file which is a 10 second Dynamic AE file transcodes fine, but when it gets to my Dynamic AE menu file which is 1:27 long, it takes almost 2 hours to transcode, and then when it is finally transcoded, it says transcoded under the project panel, but it does it again every time I build the DVD, making it very long to burn my DVD's. It worked really fast the first time, and now it just keeps taking forever. Nothings changed except I've installed my CS6 Creative Cloud Products. This is still in 5.1 though. Anyone have any ideas what might be going wrong?

I differentiate "transcoding" from "building." Transcoding is encoding/reencoding an asset to DVD spec (not a formal definition, but you get the idea) while Building is simply muxing the transcoding video/audio into the DVD VOB streams. Menus are a different creature. Even if the motion asset for a menu is transcoded, the menu must still be rendered. I do not understand when Encore insists on re-rendering a menu.
In any event, n your case, I would try to sort out whether the AE DL motion is really re-transocding, or if the menu is rendering.
Try rendering the menu (if it will let you) before the build.
I do not understand why it is taking so long.
I would first take DL out of the equation by exporting the file from AE and importing to EN.
