Video transfer from ZR80 camcorder

I am trying to copy video from a Canon ZR80 camcorder to my HP EliteBook 8580w laptop.  I can directly connect the DV port on the camera to an internal  DV port on the laptop.
When I use VideoPadVideo  Editor from NCH,  I cannot see the camcorder in the device list ( only the built-in HP webcam ).
Do I need to change any settings on the camera or thecomputer,  to complete the transfer ?

Hi GordonA!
Thank you for posting!
The software are using is not made by Canon, so it is difficult for us to determine why it does not recognize your camcorder when it is connected.  I recommend that you contact NCH for further assistance with their software.  They have a website you can go to.  It is:

  • Is it possible to download video directly from my camcorder to my iPod?

I have a new 80GB iPod and I am aware that there is a connector that allows you to load phootos directly onto it but is there something similar that allows me to download video direct from my camcorder?

The only thing I've ever seen is this.

Expensive and I've never seen them on sale in the UK.
The issue I could see is that most dv cameras have a firewire connection and the iPod 5th gen is not firewire compatible for data transfer.

Video transfer from computer to new ipad (ret disp) shows transfering process, but it's not in video or movie  . ...Where'd it go ? sync automatically downloaded some -  but was a bit prejudiced and selective with content mainly all edited by me in Moviemaker (windows 7, probably the reason)
I use technology since neanderthals roamed the planet . ....don't quite understand  all the nuances  . .. .So, my all things "i" (apple/mac) guru has arranged a meeting,    and I'm impatient.  I know some of my videos are in several formats, etc... and I don't quite understand the differences . ...to me, it's complicated, as Alec Baldwin would say.
Unfortunately, I'm "late" to the game metaphoricaly ( windows vs apple/mac ). I have a couple ipods and actually endorse the ijet remote device (Co. from San Diego). I have pro tools and other hi tech gear in the pro keyboards/sequencing arena where I've been writing computer music since 80's and it's evolution.

The Apple video app is very limited in what it will play. If you have multiple video formats and if they will play on an iPad, then you likely need a 3rd party vidoe app. One such is BUZZPlayer which is available in the iTunes App Store on a Mac or PC or from the App Store app on an iOS device.
You transfer the videos to 3rd party video apps using iOS File Sharing.

  • Satellite L450-136 Model video transfer from camcoder to laptop

    Hi ,
I have recently bought Toshiba Satellite L450-136 Model laptop. I want to transfer the video contents from my SONY Camcoder to the Laptop.
The SONY Camcoder has a 4 pin slot . In this model laptops I believe their isn't any 4 pin slot.
Can you please advice me how I can transfer the video contents

    >... 4 pin slot
Are you writing about firewire port?
As far as I know your notebook model doesnt have firewire post so you must search for other solution.
Question is, which cables and ports can be used with your camcorder?
Which model do you have exactly?

  • Transfer from older camcorder to iMac - cable needed !

I have an older camcorder using HI8 tapes. They are recorded digitally. The camcorder only have red/white/yellow out which I use when watching on ordinary TV. How can I transfer to my iMac / eMac ?
I believe that iMovie can handle the digital info coming from the camcorder ( or I might be wrong ?), but I need a cable that have a red/white/yellow connection at the one end AND a usb OR a firewire at the other end OR a simple connector to connect the 2 kinds of cable.
    Any suggestions ?

dv out ( looks like small firewire )
it IS firewire, iLink, dv-out, IEEE1394 .. (diff. names, same thing..)

    4- and 6-pin firewire cable ...
all you need is a standard 4/6pin firewire cable (hasn't to be red...), available in any electronic supply for 3 - 5$ ...

  • Video import from PAL camcorder

I have just bought a Canopus ADVC110 which converts analog video to digital and have it hooked into my Powerbook Pro via a firewire lead.
I have my analog PAL camcorder tied into the canopus and am attempting to import some PAL video but not getting very far.
I fire up iMovie and it does indeed detect the camera but when I create a new project it appears as DV-NTSC and not DV-PAL. I have changed the 'New Project frame rate' preference from 29.97 to 25 but still no good. When I click on Import I get the video/audio but the video is VERY jumpy and in black and white and the audio is totally garbled. As the video is PAL and the project says DV-NTSC this might be the issue? I would have thought that the Canopus would remove any PAL/NTSC issues as it is being converted to digital anyway? I don't know how to change the new project from DV-NTSC to DV-PAL, again I thought switching frame rate to 25 would have done this?
So, can anyone help me get a smooth video import onto the Apple? I dont care what resulting file format is as long as I can import and play it. I don't mind buying a different video application if necessary and do have Toast Titanium if that helps.
    Many thanks,

It sounds like you may not have set the dip switches of the Canopus correctly to PAL.
See page 16 of instruction manual for the canopus ADVC110!
    (I use the same one)

  • Video Transfer from analog video camera

New Mac user here. Anyone know how to transfer video from a video camera(that has 8mm tapes/ with RCA output jacks) to the MacBook. I know I need some type of video capture system or software. I want to ultimately put the 8mm video tapes to DVD'S. I do have a DVD Burner. I think my info should be listed, but if not, here it is. Mac. OS X10.4.8, 2USB Ports, 1 Fire Wire Port. iMovie, iDVD, and other essential programs came with the computer. Thanks for any help.
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 USB Ports, 1 Fire Wire Port

What you need is a piece of hardware to convert the analog signal to a digital signal that your computer and its software can work with.
    There are some available here:
    http://www.canopus.com/products/videoconversion.php
There are probably some others but this is the ony brand I can think of off hand.

  • Video editing from my camcorder. i cant get my time date display to display when i upload from ny cam corder to my computer why is this.

why doesnt the time date etc display that i have set on my camcorder to display during playback ,why does it not display when i upload my video to my imac...

    Hang on...
You can only authorise the songs you purchase from the iTunes Store to play on five computers.
You can download and install iTunes (the iTunes programme) onto as many computers as you wish.
    Two different things.
Assuming therefore, that your problem is that you have authorised five computers, but now no longer have some of them, you need to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise the computers you still have.
To de-authorise your computers, go to your account in the iTunes Store and look for the Deauthorise All button.

  • E65 video transfer from pc

hello, i dont know how to transfer avi, mpeg, mpg type videos from my pc to my nokia e65... my phone cant read the program file, why is that so? are there any aditional software for my pc or phone that i should download? i hope someone could clear thing out for me.... thanks a lot...

The video formats supported by your phone are :
    Realvideo 8,9,10
    MPEG-4 with container 3GP, 3G2, MP4
    Not sure about H264
You need to convert the videos to these formats in order to play them, or purchase or download players.
For AVI files you can use the DIVX player, its free:
    http://mobile.divx.com
I don't think there's any player that plays MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 (mpg files) you need to convert them. Use the Nokia tools (Nokia MUltimedia Player or Nokia Video Manager). Or download and install SUPER from eRightsoft if you like.
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • How do I archive the raw video files from my camcorder to ext hd?

I have a couple hours of video sitting on my Canon Vixia HF S10 HD camcorder. I don't need to edit them in iMovie (at least for now) but I would like to keep those raw video files for use at a later date and get them off my camcorder. I want to put them on my external HD if that's the best thing to do. Does anybody know the best way forward with this task?
    Many thanks.

Open iMovie. Attach your camera via USB. The iMovie Import Screen will come up. Do NOT click Import All. But at the bottom of the import screen, you will see a button that says ARCHIVE ALL. Push this button with your mouse and select a folder on your external drive to store the Archive. (and give it a name). [See here for a picture from Ken Stone's Tutorial|http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/imovie_09stone.html#acquiring]
Later on, when you want to edit your movie, you can open iMovie and select FILE/IMPORT...FROM ARCHIVE, and import this into iMovie just as if your camera is attached.
The first time you do it, I would recommend going through the whole procedure and importing a least some of the archive into an iMovie Event. Once you are sure it is working for you, you can delete the files on the camera.
