Video transfers

I have a Sony DVD Direct Unit.  It is used to transfer VHS, Camcorder Tapes and make additional copies of home DVDs.  I need to purchase a new VCR/DVD combo unit to use with this.  Can someone please recommend a unit that would be able to make many excellent quality transfers.  Should I stick with a Sony?  I have always had good luck with them or go with a different brand and which one?

I would recommend Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic just make sure to look up the reviews on BestBuy.com.

can my computer play movies and videos transferred to time capsule

I use InFuse, an iPhone, iPad, App.
It can play the video on the iPhone or iPad.
I use it to play on the TV using AirPlay and AppleTV.
It does transcoding where needed. It uses screen mirroring for native formats such as mp4.
It can look up the movie and TV series database for information, plot description, rating, cover art etc.
For playing on the Mac just open the file in Quicktime.

  • Video transfers without using iTunes

Hi. is there a way of transferring videos from my external hard drive directly to my iphone for viewing without normal syncing with iTunes? i do not have enough space on my mac to copying all the videos into iTunes to be able to sync to my iPhone.
or is there a way of using iTunes to import the file without copying it directly onto my mac. if memory serves, iTunes on windows only collects the links or filepaths to the music files, is there a way of doing this on mac just for the videos and then syncing the videos directly to my iPhone.

thank you. i shall try that very soon. on a related note. does the iPhone play avi /divx coded videos? avi videos that i do have in iTunes do not sync...

  • Distorted video transfers

On mavericks/latest iphoto attempting to transfer my videos over from an ipod 5 onto my hd and all of my videos (which play cleanly on the ipod) are being transferred with this kind of quality on each one http://gyazo.com/e36d5d01fc84d36cbe1eea132dc2e5ef
Can anyone tell me why this is? I foolishly already deleted several videos off the ipod after the transfer thinking everything was fine and am now stuck with these but hoping I can salvage the ones I haven't deleted yet.

Do you get a different outcome if you use Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) to move the video?

  • IPad Captured Video transferred to MacBook Pro corrupted...

I recently imported video I had taken with my iPad to my MacBook Pro.  When the videos were imported they appear corrupted (green and blotchy).  I then tried to transfer them back to my iPad, however the corruption of the video still exists.  Any suggestions on how to fix this or avoid it in the future welcomed.

The videos weren't altered & imported in their original state.  I did use them in the iMovie app, but there was no issue during this or when playing the edited clip.
In addition, my iMovie on my MacBook pro is having trouble generating thumbnails; attempts to generate & then shuts down due to error.  I am not sure if this is connected to the distorted video issue.
Sadly I didn't keep the originals on the iPad, as I wasn't expecting there to be an issue when transferring between 2 Mac products.

  • How to email videos transferred to laptop using Outlook 2007

I just bought my 1st iPod, the Nano 5-G with the video camera. I've transferred the video files to my HP laptop, into Adobe PSE 6.0 and they are also in My Videos. They are .mp4 format. I've been unable to send these files in emails (Office 2007), which get locked up in my Outbox and never "Send". My video camera is great but it's not much good if I can't share the videos by email. I don't have trouble sending any other formats. I tried changing the name to .mpg, as I read in one discussion, but that didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks!

This isn't the iPod 5th gen nano forum, it's the forum for the full sized iPod 5th gen (commonly known as the iPod video).
You might get a better response to your question if you post it in the 5th gen nano forum.

I just bought a Ipod video 30gb. I can transfer songs and photos but not videos. in Itunes i see my videos but i seems like it doesnt transfer on my ipod, and also i transferred videos in .mp4 (as suggested) and Itunes doesnt even show them to me when i want to add them to my library.
I'm kinda lost here can somebody help please!!

as for transfer your video to your iPod make sure "automatically update all videos" is selected.
and as for your other question what did you use to convert the files? i have had troubles converting files with Quicktime. it doesn't always seems to work.

  • Can someone make Things clear for iPod video Transfers?

    Hi there:
    Ok, 30 Gig iPod Video
    All software up to date
    iTunes latest and greatest
After reviewing the "discussions" here, the information provided, while good for "specific" instances, doesn't really cover any answers.
So here's the problem: and also a bunch of questions which hopefully someone will take the time to answer, and with that, have a one stop place for all questions regarding the same. Thanks
    Windows XP
    All updates
    All iPod/iTunes latest greatest software.
    iTunes Latest
    iPod 30g Video
iPod has been reset, redone, etc. so it's like brand new.
    Have Videora iPod Converter
    Also Azureus
So..I download a movie, and snag it it shows up as
    MovieNameHere.mp4
it's huge, so I'm assuming the whole thing was downloaded
I drag and drop this to iTunes library but it doesn't show up in the library
I drag and drop this to the iPod and it also doesn't show up
I open quicktime to see if it will play in there, and i'm presented with "Not a valid movie file"
I open Videora and try to convert and it doesn't show
I've downloaded the "sample" movie file from the site, and it worked just fine, played no problem.
Now this is the way that I feel that things "should" work.
    Simple...
Music transfers' no problem so the iTunes library file is fine
    making sense?
So my questions are as follows...
What is the best place/medium for snagging movies.
What format is iTunes looking for for the movies?
What steps are required to get a movie and be able to transfer it. (Specific Please)
Is there a piece of software out there that is better than the other? e.g. I get a bit torrent info file for a movie,
download said movie, but it's not being recognized at all
Won't copy, won't move to either iTunes or iPod.
Please don't ask for a reset/reboot or any of the 5 R's, as this is just a waste of time at this point, as that's not the problem
Would appreciate any help, and while this may be long, I understand, that with other people looking around and seeing that a lot of us are having the same problem, then this would be a good link to have.
This shouldn't be hard to do..or at least as hard as it's seeming to be...
    download a movie
    transfer to iTunes,
    transfer to iPod
Transfer transfer transfer etc...too many steps...this should be just like music, find it, add it and it's done.
Thanks in advance for all answers, and I'll give mega points to anyone that comes up with the simplest of answers too.
I monitor this discussion group various times of the day.
    Thanks again
P4   Windows XP Pro   Kick *** System

    Thanks....I responded below, but basically...
iTunes isn't or can't be recognizing the video.
Window media player shows them, and plays them just fine
I'll use videora to convert to the H264 format and see what happens then.
It "should" be like music, add to library and all that.
I can't use the "convert" option as iTunes isn't recognizing the format as yet.
    Will let the forum know
    Thanks
Let's work our way through your questions:
What is the best place/medium for snagging movies?
    - Sorry, I'm not going to help you get movies that
you didn't pay for, there are plenty of other forums
    for that.
Illegal movies wasn't the initial question actually and I fully agree
What format is iTunes looking for for the movies?
    - It will play two types .mov and .mp4 but the .mp4
must be H264. I've had an .mp4 movie that wasn't
H264 and it wouldn't play on my iPod. The other part
of this is the naming of the file. iTunes is
stricter then Windows when comes to file names.
Generally, if you stick to letters and numbers
    you'll be fine.
    I didn't know about the H264 format...so that's a good start.
What steps are required to get a movie and be able to
    transfer it. (Specific Please)
    - You need a program that will convert the file or
DVD to .mp4 or .mov. the free one that I know
    about is Videora.
iTunes also has a converter built in, right click on
the file and then convert (it's never worked for me
though). As for the specifics of how you rip and
convert that depends on the software, follow those
directions. For loading it into iTunes and then onto
iPod, its the same as a sound file.
This is where one of the problems lies....I have a video, Mpeg-4 format, I can't get it into iTunes, or have iTunes recognize it. Same thing with quicktime player, it won't be recognized in there too..I've even tried changing the extension to .mov but to no avail.
I have videora, and see all the coding options there
So I will take that Mpeg-4 video that I have, and using Videora, convert it to the H standard...(am I right so far?) Will iTunes then be able to recognize it?

  • Problem in video transferring to PC

Hi i got nokia N70M,iam having facing a problem while transferring videos to PC.whenever I tried to transfer my recroded videos to PC only sound transfer not the videos.Earlier this never happend, this is happening from few months back. Please help me!

There are old versions of pcsuite that will work on Windows98 but I don't think they will work with your N91 though.
What is your reason for connecting phone to pc? Older versions of PCsuite, even if it works with your phone, may not have the functionality you require.
I suggest you seriously consider upgrading your pc.

  • Help with movie/video transfers

Whenever i try to transfer a video (mpeg4 movie) to my 30gb 5th it will work for the first movie i try to transfer and then stop halfway through the second video i transfer. Also when this second video stops transfering the ipod freezes up and i have to unplug the ipod from the computer and then reset the ipod.
    Any ideas...?

I am also having problems putting my videos onto my ipod. The problems I have is that they wont play or show up on the Ipod. They show up in my library just fine, but I found out I had to convert them (or so I thought). So I right clicked on the videos, and selected convert for ipod. This worked, the videos show up on my Ipod now. However there is not any sound. So what gives. What do I actually have to do to transfer videos I have made or downloaded to my Ipod?

  • Are the videos transferred to iPad unreal?

Following the advise of some mate of this forum, I could transferred videos from MacbookPro to iPad opening iTunes>add to library. But then I discovered when my Macbook is off the videos in the iPad are not displayed!!!...So it means the iPad is simply a screen of the videos that are saved in my Macbook and these ones are unreal in the iPad? Is there a way to make them land into the iPad really?
    Thanks to all.

You are currently using Home Sharing to view the videos on the iPad. They are not on your device when you home share. You need to sync them to your Mac.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Movies Tab on the right.
Click on the movies that you want to sync in order to select them
Click on the Sync Movies Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you are using iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar at the top of the screen so that your iPad is visible under the devices heading in the sidebar on the left.

  • Are bursts and slow motion videos transfered as they are to a PC

I wasn't sure how to ask this question in short. I have an iPhone 5s and a Windows computer. When I take a burst photo, how does it work when I transfer the photos/videos directly to my computer? (not going through iTunes) Do the bursts save as individual pictures or are they lost? or maybe you can only see them on your iPhone? Also with slow motion videos, I know they don't save as slow motion unless you save them again as if that was real life capture. I do believe that they become slow motion again if i put them back on my phone, as the format is probably the same. Is this true?

Premiere Pro just doesn't do slow motion very well, especially not with 24 fps footage.  You can help correct that:

  • Software for video transfers to DVDs

Hi, I was wondering if there is a simple software program available where I can transfer old VHS & 8 mm video tapes onto DVD? It would need to allow me to edit the material before putting it on the DVD. Please help me.
    Thanks.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Wellcome to the fprums !
About software, if you have iLife that's all you need: edit with iMovie and create your DVDs with iDVD. You can integrate iTunes audio and iPhoto pictures ealsily.
To capture analog video material (VHS & 8mm) you need some basic hardware, like Canopus ADVC-55:
    http://canopus.com/products/ADVC55/index.php
You can capture then directly trhough your firewire port. Of course you'll find another similar products (do your own search in the internet!) but you'll find a lot of good references in these forums about Canopus transcoders. I personally have a ADVC-100 and works great.
This forums is about DVD Studio Pro part of the Final Cut pro Studio. Of course this software suite will give you more options during editing and authoring DVDs, but I think you will be more than happy with iMovie and iDVD results !
    Hope it helps !
