Video_TS export

Is it possible to move a Video_TS to another format, IE Flash? or .MOV. I realize that this is kinda working backwards but wondering if it is possible??
Thanks

If you have the rights of the material included in the VIDEO_TS folder, you can re-encode using MPEG Streamclip.

  • Disc image file exported from Encore CS4 won't work

    Hello,
I have a problem concerning the export of a disc image file in Encore CS4. I recently upgraded to CS4 and wanted to continue my project which I started editing with CS3. While working with CS3 I already did image files from this project for burning and testing the DVD. Back then it worked with no problems.
However, since using the CS4 version Encore does the image without any problem, but I can't use the image file in any way afterwards. I mounted it with Daemon Tools as I did before, but the DVD won't play in any software DVD player I have installed (Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, Nero Showtime) nor can I access the file structure over a file manager. Nevertheless NeroInfoTool and ImgBurn say there is a DVD in the virtual drive. Then I exported the DVD project into a folder and now I can see the files in the file manger but again no player will play it.
Has anyone experienced this before and is able to help? It would be very appreciated since I don't want to downgrade back to CS3 :-)
It's Encore CS4, Version 4.0.1.048 on a 2,8 GHz HT CPU, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 6800 UT, lots of HDD space, XP + SP3.
    Thank you,
    Chris...

    Hey,
thank you both. As I said no player accepts the project exported to a folder. It doesn't matter if I point the player to the video_ts.ifo or just the folder - it won't play. As a consequence I re-installed Encore CS3 in which exporting worked fine and guess what - the exported image and folder output doesn't work either. Since it worked before in CS3 it comes down to the conclusion that either I did some editing to the project that screwed the project or Encore CS4 did. Checking for mistakes in the project and previewing in inside CS4 everything seems fine. So might it be CS4 that ****** up the project file??? I mean it's full of strange bugs so it could easily be that. I even updated my Daemon Tools yesterday and it won't make a difference.
Or could it be something else I haven't considered yet? Any ideas? I just don't want to build the whole project again which might not even work if it's some other error. This is a desperate call for help
    Thanks,
    Chris...

  • Help with exporting HD for use in DVDSP.

    Hi Guys,
Very glad I found this forum as I am just out of ideas to get this working. Here is the situation:
I have a project of a wedding in HDV, which contains 3 sequences with the following lengths:
    The Service = 45mins
    Photoshoot = 5mins
    Reception = 80mins
I have decided I would like to have the Service + photoshoot on ONE DVD and the reception on ONE DVD. If possible? If not possible I will have the reception spread over two but i do not see the need.
First of all I have a Powermac dual 1.8 which doesn't have a dual layer dvd burner, so to have a higher quality result and to be able to fit more on I have decided I probably best to get a Dual Layer burner to do this project.
But before I do that, I need to work out what is the best settings for exporting this project out of FCP 5.1 to work on a SD DVD? Do I use compressor? If so which preset or what settings of my own? I have tried various things and I honestly get lost and my project in DVD SP is around 12GB. So i try exporting again with other ways in compressor and then the quality just looks terrible.
The FCP project is all in HDV with apple intermediate codec so I would be exporting from that, but obviously only need the DVD in SD!
If it helps converting the HD project to SD/DV I can do that with the sequence which I did try and then some more export experimenting but it looked really bad.
Please help guys I am desperate and no idea on what to do here.
I really appreciate your time, feel free to ask me anything to help you determine what I should do.
    Thank you so much.

How can I set the audio in the DVD SP project?
I am using the "default" settings now which are 4.0 and 7.0 and it still says too high? Whats the deal

  • How to export videos from Final cut?

I woud'l like to know what is the best way to export a video of 34min from Final Cut? after I'm gonna burn at Toast! and in Toast should I chose "dvd" or "video_TS"?
I tryed already export with "sequence quicktime" and DV PAL 48 kHz and burn with "DVD", but didn't work.
And export with "via le compression quicktime" in sequence quicktime, burn with "DVD and DivX" and didn't work too!
    Can somebody help me?
    thanks a lot

my sequence is in Final Cut yet. The problem is, is an art work and every time I have to show somewhere, is diferents DVD players, so I tryed to play the one (exported by quicktime) in a dvd player quite old and actually worked but very bad, with errors! So, I trying to find a way more universal!! that I can play anywhere! Should I export by "compresseur" and Mpeg2 something like this, or "compresseur quitktime" and .avi??
    thanks

  • Toast sees Two video_ts files in disc image

After the update to 6 we were getting repeated reports that dvds would not play. All were created in iMovie and burned via iDVD. We created a disc image as a workaround and burned using Toast at 4x speed, 8x Maxell DVD-R media.
The problem is that the disc image contains 2 video_ts files, one for the title sequence, the other for the balance of the movie. When played two videos appear, one of the title and one of the movie.
Are we exporting incorrectly? Is there a way to combine these files so that third party burn software sees one, not two, video_ts files?
    G5 Dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4)

I don't see how you can have 2 folders called 'VIDEO_TS' at the root level of a disk image - duplicate names are NOT allowed. How can 2 folders with identical names exist at the same directory level of your disk image?
At the root level of your disk image (when mounted on your desktop by double-clicking on the .img file) you should see a 'VIDEO_TS' folder and 'AUDIO_TS' folder. The 'AUDIO_TS' folder will be empty.
    Inside the 'VIDEO_TS' folder you should see things like VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB, VTS010.BUP, VTS010.IFO, and VTS011.VOB
Since I have the VLC Player installed, double-clicking on the VIDEO_TS.VOB brings up the menu and double-clicking on the VTS011.VOB plays the actual video content. (If I had more than one clip, there would have been more VTSxxx.VOB files.)
Just for clarification: the disk image file we are talking about was made by iDVD 6 using the FILE>Create Disk Image command sequence and no version of Toast was involved. Is this correct?

  • Highest quality export

whats the highest quality export for dvd. I have a client who wants to watch it on computer, tv and projection with best quality.
Also, is a video_TS file better quality than a fcp quicktime mov file?

To get the highest quality export for DVD, you will need to buy Compressor 4 and create your own preset -- you will need to calculate the max bps based on the amount of video and the size of the DVD (SL vs DL).
Video_TS isn't a file, it is a folder and part of the structure of the DVD. DVDs use mpeg2, which is highly compressed and there will be a maximum level of quality you can get based on the length of the video.
A quicktime mov file by itself can contain most any codec, and thus any level of quality. But generally speaking, it is meant for viewing on computers, unless you have a streaming solution with something to decode it for the TV.
If your original source is HD, you could consider outputting to blu-ray.

  • Exporting - Creating a digital dvd playable on PC/MAC

I have an Encore project that is built to be an interactive product demo. Ideally, I'd like to be able to hand this out on a thumbdrive so people can just open it on their PC or Mac and view it and be able to click through as if it were in a dvd player or a disc in a computer.
I've gone through a few of the exporting options. I've done the flash export - It provides me with the SWF and all the source files and the actionscript file. I've created DVD Disc Images - whiche gives me the Video_TS folder including .BUP, .IFO, and .VOB files.
Ideally I'd like to have 1 self contained file which can be played and possible passed around without having to worry about seperating source files making in unplayable. Is there anything I can do to achieve this? Can I take that .ISO file or the .SWF and source files the Flash export gave me and make what I'm describing?
    Thanks in advance.

The closest you can come is an Image file (.iso), but those aren't playable in most media players.  VLC is the only one I know of that can play .iso files as if they were the real disk.  So unless you can control the player used, you may have to go with a normal disk instead of a thumb drive.

my project needs to be saved as a Video_TS/Audio_TS file for burning purposes with a company that does bulk burring. how do i go by this?

VIDEO_TS (and an empty audio_ts) folders are part of a standardised DVD structure.  So, what you need a DVD-authoring tool.  FCPX offers to create a very simple DVD, one movie, two designs (black or white), no menu, done.  Older Macs came pre-installed with iLife/iDVD  … export your project as a 'Master', drag into iDVD, select any design template ...   Apple axed 'disk creation' about 7 years ago ... the AppStore is crowded with other, convenient, consumer, template based  tools. Professional structured DVDs are only optional with obsolete DVDSP (part of FC-suite) or Adobe Encore .....

  • Everything is HD, but exporting in 16:9 is impossible

This is so frustrating. Final Cut Express HD is perfect for widescreen. iDVD is perfect for widescreen. So, why is it so freakin' hard to export in 16:9 and get it on iDVD and onto a DVD to play in 16:9? Please help. I don't actually care if it comes out in widescreen, but I do not want it stretched. I have a 4:3 TV and want to see the black bars. This used to be easier. I've used every form of Quicktime conversion and still nothing. -- And I am not buying Quicktime Pro to use that anamorphicizer software. I'm tired of buying stuff.

    Hello Michael,
myDVDedit is a software that can change crucial settings for DVD's that DVD authoring apps sometimes don't get right. the procedure is the following:
    1. "burn" your DVD using iDVD's "save as disc image" option
    2. extract the VIDEO_TS folder from the disc image (copy/paste)
    3. open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit and make your changes. save
    4. burn the VIDEO_TS folder to disc using "DVD from VIDEO_TS" in Toast
    to address the 16:9 problem:
iDVD, when burning a 16:9 DVD, does not integrate letterboxing on 4:3 TV for example. this is an information stored in the IFO file on your DVD, which tells your DVD player, among other things how to display the video on screen. if you change the setting from 16:9 to 16:9 & auto letterbox, a 4:3 TV will display the full video with black bars on top and bottom, instead of cropping parts in order to play it fullscreen.
check out the tutorials at the myDVDedit site - they're quite comprehensive and get you to better understand how DVD's work .... o yeah, sorry for posting the french link...
    hope this helps

  • Best Export Settings for DVD burning and Computer viewing

    Hello,
I am trying to export a 1 hour video that I need to be compatible with standard DVD players as well as viewable on any computer.
Original footage was shot with a Canon 5d Mark ii in 24fps.
I have done all of my editing in Premiere Pro CS6. From there, I exported a high quality file to bring into Media Encoder (for trials of best output). My master file from Premiere was exported with the Preset MPEG2. The only thing I changed in the preset was VBR from 1 pass to 2 pass.. This gave me a 6.2 GB file.
I then brought that file into Media Encoder where I have tried the following presets:
    MPEG2-DVD - Match Source Attributes
    MPEG2-DVD - NTSC 23.976fps Widescreen High Quality
    MPEG2 - HDTV 720p 23.976 High Quality
MPEG2 - NTSC DV High Quality
These settings have encountered various issues.. some have significant banding, but most importantly, none of them will play on my DVD player when I burn them to a disc.
The discs I am using are Sony DVD-RW with a 4.7GB capacity.
Where am I going wrong here? From what I've read, the format needs to be MPEG2 to be viewed on DVD... Sorry if I sound ignorant! This stuff is tricky..

First off, don't export your timeline and then take the result to AME to re-encode, this is compressing your video twice and degrading quality (not to mention takes extra time and hard drive space). Always export direct from Premiere to Media Encoder. If you must use an "intermediate" file as part of your workflow, perhaps to archive a completed video that might later be exported to other formats, then use a lossless codec such as UT or Lagarith (free downloads).
For DVDs, you MUST use "MPEG-2 DVD". Other forms of MPEG-2 are not appropriate, as the official DVD specification requires that the MPEG-2 file has certain attributes. Not recommended to use "Match Source" for ANY export, just choose an appropriate setting as needed.
This should be correct for your application - MPEG-2 DVD > NTSC 23.976fps Widescreen High Quality
If you want to encode a DVD file over 1 hour in length, then you will need to adjust the encoding bitrate so the resulting file will fit the disc. Rule of thumb is 560/minutes = bitrate, but you might round down the result a bit to allow for menu overhead and such, depending.
Once you export the "MPEG-2 DVD" file, you can NOT simply burn that file to DVD media. That is only creating a DATA disc and it will not be playable in a DVD player (though a computer or PS3/PS4 may work since they can play most media files). To make a DVD that works in all DVD players (and meets the spec), it MUST be "authored" in a program like Adobe Encore. This compiles your content and menus and all that and then writes the result to the disc in certain way so that DVD players can read the disc. If you open any DVD on your computer, you will see a folder called "VIDEO_TS" and inside that there are .vob files and others. That is a proper DVD. And once you have a proper DVD, you can't simply copy the VIDEO_TS to another disc (as DATA), you must tell the burning software to create as a "VIDEO DVD" and not DATA, or it again won't be readable in a DVD player. Very picky spec, sorry.
When using AME to export MPEG-2 DVD, it will create two files, audio and video (.m2v and .wav), you will then Import both of those into Encore together. Note that you CAN import other formats into Encore, such as .avi but Encore will then transcode that to the correct MPEG-2 format anyway, so best that you take charge and create the right media in the first place in AME before you get to Encore.
EDIT: In AME, any time that your source is higher resolution than the destination, such as HD to DVD, you can check the "Max Render Quality" button in AME to provide the best downscale quality.
EDIT 2: I see you're using DVD-RW media. That is fine for experimenting, but for delivery to clients always use good quality DVD-R or DVD+R media. DVD-RW may not have the best compatibility with players and costs more anyways. DVDs are so cheap now that I just proof to DVD-R and toss the bad ones, up to you.

  • Problem exporting video to use in iDVD

I am working with anamorphic video in FCE 4.0.1. Video is imported from Canon GL2. The sequence I am working with has the anamorphic flag set and the canvas comes up as a wide screen view as I would expect. I export to QuickTime Movie (not self-contained), which we know sets the display size to 4:3. Open in QuickTime Pro, set the Movie Properties to 853 x 480 and save (as described in http://fcpbook.com/Video9.html ). Drag the movie into iDVD wide screen project. I've done this for a long time and it has always worked until recently.
Now when I preview the movie in iDVD it displays as squished 4:3. I suspect some upgrade of some software (probably QT or iDVD) has made it quit working.
I know there have been a lot of questions about this and I have tried various solutions without success. The only way I get it to come up as wide screen in iDVD preview is to use Quick Time conversion and export to a new file as 16:9. The big problem there is the chapter markers are not carried along, and I do not want them at every N minutes as iDVD will provide (I want them where I put them at transitions!). My only other thought is to export the full movie from FCE, bring it into iMovie, add the chapter markers there and export to iDVD (I understand iMovie is more compatible with iDVD).
I am using QT 7.6.0 and iDVD 7.0.3. This question may be more appropriate for those forums, but probably mostly only effects users that had exported from FCE. So I start with the post here...

Well, there is one more possibility using myDVDEdit, a powerful freeware application used to modify some parameters of a DVD image, before actually burning it. In this case you also need Toast or any other application able to make a video DVD image out of a VIDEO_TS folder.
The steps below seem complex, but in fact they are pretty fast, after a couple of usages.
    Instructions for using myDVDEdit:
    - Do not burn the DVD from iDVD but create a +disk image+ file
    - From the finder open the disk image and copy its VIDEO_TS folder to your desktop
    - Change the VIDEO_TS file permissions to let you modify its contents: in the finder Get Info panel select read/write for the folder and +all its internal folders+
    - Open myDVDEdit and use its File>Open command to open the modifiable copy of the VIDEO_TS folder
    - In the top left panel of the myDVDEdit window select +VTS 1+ (this contains the video)
    - In the panel below the video frame select +VTS 1+ among the vertical left tabs, and then Parameters among the top center tabs
    - Now you can see some parameters, that in your case should be: Coding mode: MPEG-2, Standard: NTSC, Resolution: 720x480
    - Aspect is what you need: this should be set to +16:9 auto letterbox+ - if not, select this option
    - Save - this is all you need to do in myDVDEdit
    - note that myDVDEdit window shows any change you make, but you can also open the DVD Player from myDVDEdit itself with File>Test with DVD Player
    - Now you have to +make a new disk image with the modified VIDEO_TS folder+: if you have Toast you have simply to drag the new VIDEO_TS folder to the proper Toast window and burn; otherwise you can use DVDImager, a free application, to create the new disk image, and then use Disk Utility to burn the real DVD (however DVDImager not always works with me... couldn't find out why).
If this doesn't work, you might also try the other options for the Aspect parameter. The full list is: 4:3, 16:9, 16:9 auto Pan&Scan, 16:9 auto Letterbox (the 1st to try), 16:9 auto Pan&Scan and Letterbox (2nd choice)

  • Re user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? - I've followed instructions so far so good, until I get to "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?

Re AppleMan 1958 excellent user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? -
I've followed instructions with success until  "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?
I installed MGEG Streamclip 193b8 and used their utility to install quicktimempeg2 and got a message stating it was successfully installed.  (I'm on latest Maverick 10.9.2 on iMac)  Then I dragged the VIDEO_TS file from my home DVD into the streamclip app.  It asked which of 4 files to use, and I selected the first one.  Streamclip played the video with the sound.  so far so good. but now I cannot figure how to use quicktime player 10.3 to export this vob file out of streamclip.

Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion.  I'm exporting the first section now.  I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie.  I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame?  If it can, what size should I select when I export?

  • Peak bitrate of the exported VOB files change radically

I have tested with Bitrate Viewer my timeline's .m2v file, its peak bitrate is a bit under 8.7Mbits. The project has one subtitle track, and two ac3 audio tracks (2.0 track is 320kbps (Encore encodes the 2.0) and 5.1 is 448kbps). So, as making peak bitrate calculations the maximum bitrate should not exceed 9.8Mbits, right? Still, when I'm viewing the exported DVD Folder with Bitrate Viewer, VTS_01_1.VOB has a peak bitrate of 12723 bits. In that VOB the average bitrate is around 7500bits as it should and mostly max. 8.2Mbits. How is this possible that there is this single super peak in the VOB?
PS. Did another test, I changed the 2.0 AC3 track (which Encore encodes) to a previously AC3 encoded track my client provided me, now two of the VOBs have these super peaks as:
    VTS_01_1.VOB - 11010 bits
    VTS_01_5.VOB - 13486 bits
    What is the logic?

    Mick.
Whilst there is nothing to actually prevent you from using a 320kbps stereo AC3 stream at all, I was only referring to
    i Encore's
encoding to AC3 stereo being 192kbps. AFAIK (I do not have a copy of the specs in front of me so cannot be 100% certain here) the specs merely state that the maximum bitrate for AC3 is 448kbps. The general consensus rate for stereo is 192, and Encore's Automatic transcoding uses this value. It is certainly possible to use the whole 448 in stereo, assuming your encoder is capable of this. I have even seen surround 5.1 streams authored to DVD-Video at 640kbps in clear violation of the specs (Pink Floyd's "Pulse" Live album did this) which is complete stupidity. WHy not simply add a half-bitrate DTS stream? Ask Sony, I guess. But again I digress, and wander OT. Sorry about that.
If your client is providing you with 320kbps streams for stereo, this ought to work just fine. But your original post did heavily imply that Encore was doing the encoding for these streams, hence my comment.
    >(2.0 track is 320kbps (Encore encodes the 2.0)
As far as Replication houses rejecting masters goes, this is a whole can of small, pink wriggly things all of it's own, and the blunt fact of the matter is that replication houses
i almost never bother to correctly verify the actual streams in your Video_TS.
At best they will run the DDP files through the Eclipse system, and as all the various warnings are user-settable, what they will flag as an error is very much a case of pot luck. About the only way I know of to absolutely validate & verify your streams is to use the MEI DVD-Video Verification tool in combination with the full DVD-Video specifications, or else use a service such as Trai Forresters to get the job done for you. See http://www.dvdverification.com/public/157.cfm for a complete description of these services as well as a very good explanation as to why this is a good idea.
To summarize, Replication companies do not verify your data. They do NOT, repeat NOT check your data for DVD-Video spec compliance. What they will do is run the
    i image
through Eclipse, and may or may not act on the warnings & errors it flags. Odds are very high that unless you are using
    A - A very reputable replicator, or
B - One that actually gives a damn (rare these days) then whatever happens - unless the eclipse warnings are flagged as FAIL errors, with the ABORT recommendation (and even this is user definable too) then they will most likely still press whatever you send them, and when it all goes pear shaped they will blame you. An image that passes Eclipse does not necessarily comply to the DVD-Video specifications. That is your job as the authoring house.
Having said that, I would be extremely wary of attaching total reliance to any freeware utility in this matter. However, it would seem that there is a doubt over the true maximum bitrate of your stream, and this may well cause playability problems in some players. Not all, as not all DVD players are created equally, sad to say.
I strongly suspect I have just scared the willies out of you now. That was not my intention, and I apologise if this is what has happened.
Let me try to go into some more details here without repeating verbatim what you can go & read for yourself on Trai's website about this. In the earlier days of this game, replicators were a lot fewer in number, Eastern Europe, Asia & China had not got into the game, margins had not been cut to the bone to stay open & operational, and discs got checked & verified a hell of a lot better than is common these days. Problem is it can get bloody expensive. Deadlines loom, clients start getting twitchy, but the accountants keep wanting more & more for less & less and threaten to move contracts around of they do not get "discounted services". So companies start to cut corners.
But again I digress and wander, and again I apologise. Most of this information in this post will be irrelevant to your project, and will not be anything to worry about.
The point of making this post was not to scare the bejesus out of you, but to point out that you simply cannot rely on the replication house to tell you if your streams are out of spec - they simply will not do that any more than they will flag VOB errors in the navigation code either. This is just not something they ever check.
The problem is that all authoring packages - there are no exceptions here at all and some are worse than others (with Apple's DVDSP being one of the worst offenders) - interpret the DVD specifications in their own manner, and can easily produce non compliant streams. If you are worried about a video file, you need to either triple check that file, or else re-encode it.
Let's look at the numbers on your files again, just to be certain I have got all this correct.
    2 Audio Streams. 320 & 448 = 768kbps.
1 Video Stream, VBR, Peak to 8700kbps.
If this is correct, IMHO you are pushing your luck somewhat. That adds to 9468kbps, leaving zip overshoot room for any unexpected spikes in the bitstream caused by sudden shifts in the material - and in 2-pass VBR this
    i will
happen more often than you think.
What are you writing your master to, please? (I really want to hear "DLT Tape" and not "DVD-R Disc" here as well)
How long is the video stream?
What is the average bitrate of your video file as set? If the target is as stated, 7500, I would forget all about using VBR here and encode to a fixed bitrate (assuming you have the space to do this, I would set the CBR to around 7,000 maybe 7500 and master to DLT, as at that bitrate a written disc may choke in players anyway, regardless of stream spec compliance.
One final thing - and this comes from personal experience too - is to use the best MPEG-2 encoder you can get your hands on. MainConcept is okay for a lot of things, but it struggles in certain circumstances.
    It
    i can
also give peaks that are well outside what you
    i think
you have set as your upper limit.
You mention that you used MPEG Validator. BUT - and this is a biggie - if one says PASS and the other (Bitrate Viewer, which is no longer being developed either, so is way out of date) says FAIL, I would look for confirmation somewhere down the line. MPEG Validator will - and I am sure you already know this - only validate the streams in PAL, not NTSC. There are varying reports as to how accurate it really is.

  • The size of my exported FCP movie is too big for DVD studio pro

    Hey,
I have been editing for 4-5 years now and have never had a problem with size of a project to put into DVD Studio Pro to burn. However, I just finished a 2 hour project in which exported as a FCP movie it is 23.97 gb in size. When i put this into DVD Studio Pro it makes it 4.8gb in size which just makes it too big for it to burn. I have tried changing the compression to no avail and just now decided to clean up the timeline so everything is on one track with nothing overlapping. (The problem was it was a 2 camera shoot so the first camera i had on the bottom track constant with the second camera on the top track when i needed it but still with the first camera underneath.) Do you think this could be the solution to my problem? If you guys could help me out it would be most appreciated!

some things don't make sense here. please clarify.
Standard DV is roughly 5 minutes per gig, so that means that you have just about 2 hours of video, ok, got that. Now it's the two track thing that gets me.
Are you saying you have 4 hours of footage, the same thing from two cameras, and you're trying to set up a multi-angle DVD?
If it's just that you used two video tracks to edit, then NO, it is not your problem. It's still only 2 hours, the video will be mixed down to one track upon export from FCP to quicktime.
My suggestion is, instead of bringing a quicktime file directly into DVDSP, use compressor. I believe they have a preset in compressor 2 for a standard 120 minute DVD. IF you're project is truly less than 120 minutes, than that should be fine. If not, then you may have to manually make your own setting and lower the bitrate.
    So the workflow is:
    -open sequence in fcp
-file>export>quicktime movie... (you can uncheck "make movie self-contained" if you want it to export faster and you plan on keeping your original capture footage around)
-export your movie to a directory of your choice with a name of your choice.
    -open compressor (in applications)
-drag the quicktime file you created into compressors main window, this will set it up. Now specify the export setting (120 minute HQ all files either 16x9 or 4x3 dep. on project) and specify a location for the files to be created. I strongly suggest that you use the HQ (High quality) settings in compressor. It's much slower to process, but much better quality.
-with a 2 hour movie it should take a really REALLY long time to compress, so I'de say do it over night.
-when compressor is done, you should have 2 or three files. a .m2v file a .aif file, and a .ac3 file. The .aif is your PCM audio, much better quality than the .ac3, which is dolby 2 channel. However, the .ac3 is a much smaller file with a lower bit rate, so if the .aif makes the DVD file size too big, you can switch it out for the .ac3
-Finally, open up your DVDSP project, drag the .m2v, .aif, and .ac3 into DVDSP and use the .m2v for the video track and either the .aif or .ac3 as the audio (as mentioned above)
-the good news is, your DVD media is already rendered, so when you go to build your DVD it will go much, much faster!
By the way, I recommend you go to file>advanced>build do not do a burn and build.
I find it best to build the VIDEO_TS folder on a hard drive and then use a program like toast to create a DVD (using toasts from VIDEO_TS option). This method also allows you to go back into DVDSP, make tweaks, and reuse your VIDEO_TS folder, not having to rebuild the whole thing each time.
Remember, 120 minutes on a single layer DVD is going to render fairly low quality no matter what.
If you have a newer mac and a dual layer drive, you may want to cough up a few bucks and get a dual layer DVD-R, then you have over 8 gigs of space to work with, perfect for HQ 2 hour footage.
