Video tutorial project too complicated, or am I doing it wrong?

Hello.
I'm a beginner with Flash Catalyst.
I have a project with 7 states, which is, essentially, a video tutorial.
Each State containts 7 buttons which should switch between the States.
Each State (except the first) includes a video, which should play automatically when I switch from one State to another.
During each video one or two semitransparent rectangles slide in with a text description of the video and then slide out of the screen (I call them "bubbles").
So, each state has a bubble prepared off-screen and in a transition to another State the bubble slides in (Moves). When the video is finished (On Video Play Complete) the project transitions to another State (to another video). In this transition, the bubble fades out and a new bubble slides in for the next video.
At this moment, my videos and bubbles function perfectly, however, only when the videos are played in sequence 1 to 7.
Whan I need is set up all the other transitions between all the other States. Say, when I'm on video number 7 and click on button3 to switch to video 3, the transition from State7 to State3 is not yet defined - the video won't start playing automatically (even though I expected it to) and my bubbles don't slide in and out. Of course.
Finally, I'm getting to my question: Do I really need to manually animate all the transitions in my timeline between ALL the States? I have 7 States, which is 7 by 7 possible State transitions. Each State has multiple layers, with bubbles, video and text sliding in or fading in and then again fading out, let's say 10 objects "doing stuff" in each State.
Setting up all these transitions correctly (there's hundreds, apparently) would take ages!
Did I set up my project wrong? Is there an easier way to do a video tutorial like this?
Thank you for any help.

  • CP 6.0.1.240 - Video Demo Project vs. Video Recording & YouTube

    Hello,
I have a project with two small slide videos included.  I recorded them using Record New Video Demo and I embedded them on 2 different slides using Video > Insert Video.  Once embedded I added text captions etc and timed them to coincide with the video.  When I preview the video, timing is dead on.  When I publish to YouTube, one of the two videos delays noticeably and it throws off the timiing of all the related captions, etc.  I tried F4V and MP4, I tried uploading using the YouTube button and directly, no change.  I even tried manually pushing the timing of the captions out to see if I could account for the delay on YouTube but it doesn't have to do with the slide just the pre-loading or starting of the video on that slide.  The fact that I have 2 slides each with an embeded video and one works fine and the other doesn't is driving me around the bend.  I compared the two slides side-by-side and could not find any differentiating settings.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try?
    Thanks
    Julie
UPDATE:  I went back to compare side-by-side the videos and I have noticed a difference.  One is called a Video Recording and the one that pauses for too long is called a Video Demo Project.  I could have sworn I recorded them in the exact same way.  This sounds silly but does anyone know what I did differenty; why one is a video demo and why the other is a video recorrding?

UPDATE:  When I finally published the video to YouTube, the hiccup or pause on the background audio seems to have resolved.  It was very evident in previewing the project and not noticeable once published to YouTube.  I have a new issue now as it relates to pausing but not of the audio of the video itself.  I will be posting a new thread for that.

  • Can't find Tutorial Projects

Hi, I'm trying to learn how to use Motion and following the Tutorial instructions for getting started and in the Shared folder I can't seem to find the Tutorial folder.
I assume there was a problem in the installation process or I accidently erased it. Do I need to re-install Motion or is there a quicker way?
    Thank you in advance.

I have the tutorial projects and media, but I'm exactly sure what to do with them. Is there documentation or a video that goes with it? The tutorial DVD seems to be a general overview, not very hands on. Where is the hands on training that goes with this media?

  • Is there a video tutorial available on creating an html email with dreamweaver

Is there a video tutorial available on making an html email with dreamweaver?

    Hello Warren,
Currently we do not offer a video on this topic; all of our getting started videos currently available can be seen at: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/learn/start.html.  That's not to say a video such as the one you are looking for doesn't exist out in the wild somewhere, but we have not produced any content on that particular topic.
However, we're just getting started (no pun intended ) so feedback like yours is valuable as we consider future topics to focus our getting started projects on.
    Thank you for your input.

  • Adobe AIR for Video Wall project - the right tool?

I need to decide whether Adobe AIR is the right tool for a Video Wall project. The Video wall would be one of only 4 installations.
It would need good offline capability.
The application would play back both canned video as well as twitter feeds.
The other option is to go all HTML with perhaps the Canvas element to display video, graphics.
I'm biased towards using Flash, AIR but am open to new ideas.
What are the pros, cons of each approach?

Pros of the Adobe route would be a little more control and reliability. You can easily go fullscreen, preload other videos easily in the background and display them on the hardware GPU decoded StageVideo (with the right video card, almost all of them at this point). Twitter feed loading would have some robust error handling to assure it goes smoothly but if you need offline capability you'll need some canned material for the feeds in that situation.
HTML can go fullscreen but the caveat would be drawing your twitter feed over the video at that point. Because it's fullscreen I don't believe you can have your text over it from a <video> element but you'd need to use <canvas>'s fullscreen and actually mux the text into the video.
The long haul of Adobe's roadmap clearly states video and games are the future of FP and AIR. I've done tons of kiosks in Flash and AIR, many of which just act as a video wall, attracting people to very large screens. I've had nothing but success doing this. I'd only even approach HTML5 if you have some reason to desire to put this on the web, and even then, Flash is still fine in that situation too.

  • Photoshop video tutorials are too fast

The videos are all too fast. Why don't you offer email tutorials with step by step instructions on how to use Photoshop? Then we can work at our own pace.

There are some great sources for step-by-step Photoshop tutorials. One of them is psdtuts+, create a photo realistic digital painting in photoshop.
Peachpit Press also offers some great books on Photoshop that offer step-by-step tutorials as well.
Digital Arts Online also offers some great step by step tutorials.
These are all are in addition to Photoshop.com and AdobeTV. When I follow a tutorial, I often watch a step, pause, then complete the step on my own computer. this way, I don't miss a step!

  • Laptop virgin needs quick start video tutorial

One thing leads to another - new Mac!
Just ordered new monitor for my Mac Pro ("beheaded" yesterday afternoon). I tried using my old (2003) eMac I've been keeping for (wireless) backup but it too suddenly (first time ever) developed "problems."
Long story: but I ended up buying a new MacBook last night (15 min. b4 closing) at the Apple Store.
As my subject line says, I'm a "virgin" to laptops. So far, I've managed to bungle my way through quite a lot of stuff (including wireless connection, email & browser setups, etc). But I'm sure I'd be less clumsy (less frustrated too) if I could watch a video tutorial on how to operate this lil' thang.
Mainly - need to know better how to navigate with this track pad thingy. I do have a (leftover) mouse I can use but also realize these MacBooks are shipped w/o them for a reason.
Mostly, it's the moving of the cursor, targeting the item and executing the "open" process via the track pad: lots of misses, resulting in "wrong menu" "wrong application" opening.
Anyone know of any video tutes for newbies? I did check the "new to mac" pages but saw nothing specific to laptop "general operations."
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Macnoel--
Welcome to the wonderful world of the MacBook!
While I don't have any video ideas, I can tell you that simply working with the trackpad is the easiest, fastest way to go. You have a weekend in front of you; take some time and play with one, two and three finger swipes. After a few weeks, you'll wonder why anyone still uses a mouse.
I could also tell you to read the instructions--but you knew that.
    Have fun!

  • I am trying to upload an imovie to youtube. it says project too large but i have permission for larger projects. Help and thanks.

I am trying to upload an imovie to youtube. It keeps saying "project too large" even though I have permission from youtube for over 15 minutes. Please help. Thanks.

share the video via a quicktime movie in whatever format you want to use, I usually create an mp4.  Once you that video is set (I usually save to my desktop) go ahead and upload from YouTube rather than going direct from iMovie.  I suspect you will not have the same size issue.

You should be able to open the skin source files themselves, copy the assets over to your own project and as long as you put an instance of the skin on the timeline and point the FLVPlayback at it, keeping all the internal instance names intact, it should use it as your skin without looking outside the file. You'll find your components skins for FLVPlayback here: [FLASH LOCATION]\Common\Configuration\Component Source\ActionScript 3.0\FLVPlayback

  • Japanese version video tutorial missing

When I have installed iLife'08 and tried to watch video tutorial,
safari jumped to the page "Page Not Found"
What I'm using is Japanese version of iLife'08, and there is no video tutorial.
If localized version is difficult to provide, English version is OK.
I'm very discouraged to see "Page Not Found" and now I am not using iLife'08.
Also, I want Japanese version of Discussion forum.

The tutorial videos are linked from the Japan support page.. There too, it comes back 'page not found'. It may be that they haven't finished them in Japanese.
