Video tutorials

Hello , this might seem a silly question but how can i get all the tutorials from apple.com --the mac basics , imovie, iphoto etc as video podcasts ? i hnow i had them as video podcasts once but deleted them by mistake and now i can't seem to find them anywhere on iTunes Store/podcast or any link from the website that would allow me to subscribe to those training videos as podcasts ...

Hello , this might seem a silly question but how can i get all the tutorials from apple.com
Go to http://www.apple.com/mac/ and you will find links for topics like
Mac Basics (35)
Photos (86)
Movies (47)
Web (22)
Music (19)
iWork (58)
If you then navigate the any of these pages you will file a list of available video tutorials by category topic. In addition, most Apple application "Help" menus now include links to video tutorials dealing with that specific application. In either case, if you have QT Pro, simply Control-Click the video and select "Save as Source..." or "Save as QT Movie..." to save the video tutorial (or drag the file to save it as a movie clipping) to your computer. In either case the file is an H.264/AAC compressed file which should be compatible with iPod, iPhone, TV, iTunes, and/or Front Row viewing.

  • What happed to the iPad video tutorials on Apple's website?

I can't locate any of the extensive video tutorials on iPad (or for much else for that matter) on Apple's website - did they remove them or put them in some incredibly secret place?  They used to have them for most all of their products -- now it seems they are only available for software products.

  • Video tutorials from Apple website

I have suddenly become unable to play video tutorials on the Apple website. I get the sound but no video. can anyone help?

My experience with the plug-in happened in the first release of QuickTime 7 and was repeated for a few updates.
Because I had moved many "older" files via OS X upgrades to my user account I tested for errors by making a new user account. Since the same errors occurred I had to expand the search to the HD/Library and that's where I found a solution.
Moving the QuickTime Plugin.webplugin to my Desktop fixed the Safari (only) browser issue.
Subsequent updates of QuickTime have properly updated the plugin.
Why it happens I haven't a clue. But it's been happening with Safari and some users for a long time. The .webplugin is supposed to be used for Dashboard Widgets and some QuickTime content or formats used in them.

  • Learning to use a Mac- where are the video tutorials?

I am an old PC user, converting to this sleek machine after loving my iphone. but I am really struggling to understand all the new conventions, keystrokes, and shortcuts. I can't even really understand safari- there is no "web address" window at the top, so I go to google for everything.
Are there not video tutorials somewhere on my machine? reading the articles is hard to do if I don't see the interface.

    Doctormark,
Welcome to Apple Discussions. Here is some great information that will make your transition smoother. I would recommend going through these in order.

  • QuickTime flickering during Video Tutorials?

When I am watching the Video Tutorials for any of Apple products my QT flickers dark and light, not to the point where I can't see the video, but to the point where it is annoying. Anyone else having this problem? This is on a 4 day old new MacBook. I have the most recent version of QT installed.
Anyone else having the same issue?
    Tim

MACBOOK QUICKTIME VIDEO PLAYBACK FLICKER ISSUE
Well, this is the first time I have been so far out on the front end of a new problem with a new computer purchase, so I guess I have the responsibility of raising the "noise level" on this defect. I certainly want a "fix" sooner rather than later.
After speaking to a relatively nice guy at Apple (Steve H.) last week, I did extensive diagnostics on my own, and sent a VERY long email to Apple explaining the problem in great detail providing information pertinent to engineers (along with affected video samples) in addition to sending in a "data capture file" of my new MacBook's status.
I later found out my diagnostic email was not forwarded to the engineers because of questions they sent back to me, indicating that they never got the detailed report after viewing my data capture logs.
Today I spoke with "Catilin" - not an engineer - (apparently the engineers are insulated from speaking voice to voice with customers). Caitlin informed me that since I did a clean install of the OS before one of my tests, that is proof that my video files are corrupt and there is no defect. When I then asked if it is possible that Apple could ship a faulty product, she answered, "No."
Sigh... where are the scientists of the world when you need them?
Anyway, for those of you out there with the problem, I will not post my long detailed report here. We all seem to be experiencing the same issues anyway. I just wanted to confirm that you are not alone, and apparently not a small number. When customer service tells you that you are the first person they have heard of with this problem (as they are mostly saying now), know that it means nothing. There are a lot of customer service people, and even widespread problems take time to be common knowledge among support staff.
Please make sure you tell customer service that this is a KNOWN ISSUE among users. Dozens of people are certainly contacting Apple about this problem now, but they have not yet issued an internal memo so that all customer service personnel are aware of it.
I will attach the latest email I just sent to Steve H., who just left me a cryptic voice mail message explaining how we should use third party software to play back videos and how we should use easily obtainable online apps to convert our video clips to other formats that might not be affected by the defect.
Please note that I am not trying to be negative about Apple here, but it would seem from my communications so far, only the engineers (scientists) are open to evaluating this problem rationally, and unfortunately I am currently forced to speak to the engineers through the filter of "not so highly intellectual or scientifically trained" customer service persons.
So, please spread the word when you call Apple and make sure they are aware that you have read about this problem from other Apple customers online.
I am tired of this issue and do not have another 20 hours to invest. I hope someone else will take a turn moving this problem forward with Apple and post your results here. Maybe if we work aggressively in shifts on this thing, someone in a position to do something at Apple will finally hear about it.
    Steve,
I did not understand your voice mail.
What do you mean by, "There is not really much more we can do on this."?
Incidentally, it affects more than MPEG 1 files, as is evident in the detailed email I sent to you.
Did you mean to say, there is not much more you can do about it now, but it is being worked on?
Is it Apple's official position that this defect will not be resolved and we must always use third party software to play standard video clips (as suggested in your message), instead of using Apple's defective software shipping with MacBooks?
I must assume you misspoke in your email message.
Did you mean to say to use other programs and convert videos to other formats in the interim while Apple's engineers work on a correction?
Has it already been determined that all new Macbooks have the problem, or only some?
Obviously, if it is only some, I need to return mine to get a MacBook that does not have this defect/conflict/ or whatever it is.
I hate to say this, but as is evident by your just received voice mail and you not being aware of the different affected video formats I wrote about in great detail before, you are apparently another technical support person to go down in history as not paying close attention to an important and detailed diagnostic email before replying.
It is doubly surprising to see this behavior in you, when in my earlier email I went out of my way to explain and warn against this all too common and bizarre phenomenon of customer service persons not paying attention to helpful diagnostic email before replying to the treasured customers who went out of their way to prepare and send such email.
I can't keep working for Apple for free on this issue, especially when I am not receiving coherent responses to my testing and kind diagnostics work.
Please consider me retired from the "MacBook Development and Leopard Beta Testing Team", until such time as it is decided to compensate me adequately for my generously donated time.
Fix it, tell me to exchange for another unit, or tell me the problem has been acknowledged and it is being worked on. Or reiterate one last time that it will not be fixed (as you suggested in your last message) and I will know I must return the defective computer and consider other options in life.
I have no more time for any other responses from you.
    Dan Savage

  • Xmas is Coming! Would You Like 50 FREE Video Tutorials for FCE/FCP?

Ripple Training produce some excellent tutorials on CD.
However, they also give away over 50 video tutorials for FCE/FCP.
Many of them are for FCP BUT (most) also apply to FCE.
They deal with each topic in a short and punchy style. I found them easy to follow and learned some useful quick tips.
They are QT movies which can be downloaded so that you can use them whenever you want. (Allow about an hour to download them all - you have to do them one at a time). I found it quicker to download all of them (except for a few dealing with multi-camera work etc.) rather than viewing them on the website to sort them out.
    http://www.rippletraining.com/engine/free_tutorials.html
Hope you find them as useful as I did.
    Ian.

Just a couple of additional points for newcomers:-
    1. The estimation of an hour (or so) to download them all refers to Broadband (ADSL). Normal "Snailmail" internet will take around 10 hours!
    2. To download each lesson choose File>Save Page As. A window will appear saying it will be saved as a QuickTime Movie on the Desktop. Click Save.

  • Adobe Video Tutorials

Hello, I have an unusual question. Adobe's video tutorials are always brilliantly made and very helpful. My question is, do you make the videos internally or do you outsource them? If you outsource, can you please name the agency? We are looking for a good agency.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I don´t know why you are posting this in the German forum but anyway - the video tutorials I´ve seen so far are pretty simple made in my opinion. You just have to have some recording software like Screenflow or simply the Quicktime Player and a semi-quality microphone. Last is software and skills to cut the hole thing together.
If it aren´t tons of videos you need to produce I´d really attempt to save that money.
But anyway, I´m not Adobe so...

  • Adobe TV Video Tutorials: how to download for offline viewing?

How do I download Photoshop CS6 video tutorials from Adobe TV for offline viewing ?

It depends on which browser you have.  If you are using Safari, post in their forum area.
If using FireFox, use one of there many (hundreds) YouTube video downloader add-ons.  My personal preference is the DownloaderHelper add-on.

  • I have looked through the video tutorials for CS6 and cant find any help for PHP using SQL.

Where is a good place that I can go to learn more about using dreamweaver and different languages than html.  Is there a service that adobe offers that I could buy that would take me from rookie all the way to professional with a good easy to use structure such as adobe tv but more advanced and thorough?  I am trying to build a website with a log in page and registration.  I have the HTML part down well enough but need help writing the php scripts and using SQL to store the user info

I'm moving this to the main Dreamweaver support forum.
In answer to your question, you need to be aware that the PHP server behaviors in Dreamweaver CS6 use the original MySQL functions that are scheduled to be removed from a future version of PHP. The server behaviors have already been removed from Dreamweaver CC. If you are planning to create a site using PHP and MySQL, do not rely on Dreamweaver's server behaviors. You must use either MySQLi (MySQL Improved) or PDO (PHP Data Objects) instead.
If you're looking for video tutorials, you might be interested in the courses I have created for lynda.com. As a beginner, a good place to start would be PHP for Web Designers or Introducing PHP (there are several sample videos that you can watch for free on my website). Both courses were recorded on Dreamweaver (PHP for Web Designers on Dreamweaver CS6, Introducing PHP on Dreamweaver CS5.5). PHP for Web Designers shows how to connect to MySQL with MySQLi. You need a subscription to lynda.com to watch the complete courses, but you can get a seven-day free trial by following the links on my website.
If you don't want to commit to a subscription service, I have also written a book called PHP Solutions, which covers MySQLi and PDO in depth. It also shows how to build a login system. At the moment, the second edition is available, but a revised third edition is due to go on sale in December.
There are also a lot of free resources on the web that you can find. The important thing to beware of is that a lot of old material relies on the original MySQL functions. Whichever resource you use, make sure it shows how to use MySQLi or PDO.

  • Any Good FREE FCP Video Tutorials Like LiveTypeCentral Do For LT ?

Recently my attention was drawn to some very good FREE video tutorials provided by LiveTypeCentral:-
    http://www.livetypecentral.com/cgi-bin/livetypecentral.cgi/tutorials.html
I was wondering if there are any similar free ones covering FCE/FCP or the other FCS apps?
I don't need them of course ....... they are just for friends! (If you believe that you'll believe anything).
Incidentally I have done a search and had a look at the Creative Cow ones, but they tend to be on somewhat random esoteric subjects.
I am looking for something that starts with the basics of the apps.
Message was edited by: Ian R. Brown

Sorry, I didn't make it clear.
I mainly wanted freely available tutorials that I could direct others to on the FCE and other forums. Frequently newcomers don't know where to start, and I don't have time to write a new manual, so it is very efficacious to be able to point them to a site with free tutorials.
That LiveType source I quoted is excellent. So now, basically all I am looking for is a similar one for Soundtrack and FCE/FCP.
The first one you linked is probably fine except for the download time which would probably have taken several hours per tutorial, which is going to put off many newcomers looking for a quick-fix.
I must admit I also like looking at tutorials (I never used to!) because every one of them has a different angle and it's surprising what you can pick up, that you have missed in others.

  • Hello, I am completely new to the Mac - Video tutorials

    Hi
After almost 20 years and maybe more - using Windows PC's I have moved over to Mac - Just bought a new iMac 5 all in one and having a little hard time trying to get my headv around the way it operates.
I am getting used to it and love it but I cant seem to be able to find out how to save files into folders and how  to organise them.
On Windows I just created Folders anywhere I wanted and saved files that way.
I downloded a Maac version of a software which is on my Hard drive ( saved from my Windows PC) and I Can see the hard drives on my desktop fine.
When I unzipped the files I get a mac file that I double click and it asks which drive I want to save it on -
I choose the imac and after that it says I do not have write privelages ??
    Stuck at this point .
Anyone able to help plus any directions - if there are any Video tutorials I can go to or purchase so that i am making best use of  my Mac.
Also when I start my mac I go straight into kiosk - is that the standard way it opens up ?
I have created an admin user - fir myself with a password - so when I am saving anything on my mac it asks for a username and password - seems to be fine in that respect
    Thanks again
    Hamant

This is a great place to start.
    http://support.apple.com/videos/
Yes make sure your account is an admin account. You should be able to save any where and create folders with out issue.
Usually when you unzip things you can unzip it to your desktop or your documents folder. You can find those options on the left hand area in the save window.
