VIdeo Upgrade for Omni 200-5280qd

I've got an Omni 200-5280qd, which apparently uses the Quanta ZN2 (Matadi) mothboard, which has an MXM3.0 video card slot on it.    When I purchased this machine back in 2009, I specced it with the Geforce GT230 Video Card option.     I would like to continue using this machine for at least another year or so, if not longer, so what are my upgrade options.

Here are the specs for your HP Omni 200-5320a Desktop Computer. While you may be able to change the graphics card in your AIO computer, it doesn't use a standard card like in a desktop. Your computer is more like a notebook computer than a desktop. Changing the graphics card will be time consuming and expensive. You should be able to source an upgrade through HP.

  • Best low buck video upgrade for Digital Audio

I just purchases a Digital Audio G4/733 with the original GeForce 2 AGP video card. If I want a better video card for online games (for my kids), what would be some good choices (for no more than $50- $60 used- don't mind eBay).
How would a used GeForce 4 or Radeon 7500 stack up against the GeForce 2? I'd like ot try to avoid flashing a PC card if possible (unless someone else already has done it and tested it in a Mac).
Alternatively I have waht I think is a GeForce 6200 lying around that I couldn't get to work in my PC. Since I have nothing to lose with this card- has anyone flashed one of these to Mac and used with 4X AGP?
    Thankd, Steve

As a co-author of 6200 ROM I can speak highly of the cards, but they aren't really in same league as 9800.
Core Image is a great thing, frees up CPU from drawing much of desktop & goings on there.
8500 was good in it's day but is leaving your CPU doing work that a 9800 would be more than happy to do.
Flashing a 9800 can be done in a Mac provided you have a PCI card to "see" from.
PC versions sell for as little as $15 on EBay and using the reduced 9800 ROM from STrangedogs / Macelite you have a guaranteed card. Just be sure to get a PC 9800 that matches the standard image of a 9800 Pro. (128 Megs RAM on a 256 bit bus, red card with 60's looking silver fan)
The 6200 is an IDEAL card for Cube.

    JoeGanna,
As stated in my previous post "Additionally, most PCIe x16 v2.1 and v3.0 graphics cards shoulld work in your system as well."
That is to say, PCIe v2.1 x16 and PCIe v3.0 x16 cards should also work in your computer. If you wish to future proof, go with a PCIe x16 v3.0 card. If you don't care and want to spend less at this time, go with a PCIe x16 v2.0 card.

  • Video upgrade for DV7 4087cl laptop?

Hi guys, please someone could tell me if it's possible to upgrade the video for my DV7 4087cl laptop?
Currently it has an ATI Mobility HD 5000 Series and an Intel integrated... it's possible to choose wich one to use according to the need.
So I want to upgrade from my i5 processor to an i7 quad and I'd like to know if I can put a video card in it.
    Thank you for the help!

    Hi Fabio,
See Page 98 of your Maintenance & Service Guide for a list of compatible processors.
Sorry to say, but it's not really practical to change your video adapter - your existing Intel chip physically soldered to the Motherboard and as such, is not an upgradeable component.
    Regards,
    DP-K

  • Video Upgrade for Pavilion a430n

I'd like to upgrade the video card in my Pavilion a430n but I don't know if it would make sense to do it. A friend of mine said that you can't put mag wheels on an Escort and expect it to go any faster.
I did install a Nvidia Geforce 6200 card some time ago which works okay for most things. I'm an avid adventure gamer and according to a game I installed recently, I have "low end hardware". I don't have any PCI express slots so the card would have to be PCI and those are hard to find.
So what's the best graphics card that I could get that would be compatible with my computer?

    Hi,
If you are an avid gamer then it's time for a replacement PC.
HP has some very good PCs for gaming depending how you configure the PC and are willing to spend.

  • Video Upgrade for Dual-Drive G4?

    Hey Mac Gurus,
I have a 2001 Quicksilver upgraded with a 1.467 "Mercury Extreme" processor. The G4 also has a "GeForce2 TwinView" card, and two hard drives - one runs 0S9 and the other OSX.
I'd like to upgrade to the fastest video card that can function in both OS9 and OSX on a Quicksilver.
    Thanks for your ideas!

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum - Best CPU upgrade for under £200 please?

    Hi there,
I currently have an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2ghz running on this board. The BIOS is the latest etc. I am now wanting to upgrade the CPU on this. I run everything at normal settings... don't overclock etc.
Not sure what I can go to with it and was wondering if anyone can advise please?
Budget for CPU upgrade is £200... any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gazza.
PS: Not sure if other specs are required but here goes:
    2 X 512MB PC3200 184 pin DDR400 (was thinking of just buying another 2 x 512MB)
2 x 80GB Segate SATA HDD 8MB CACHE (was thinking of buying a Seagate Barracuda 320GB SATA HDD 16MB CACHE)
256MB Radeon X800XT Platimun AGP Graphics Card (keeping this)

Check out this very brief thread of mine:

...If your 3500 is a 90nm San Diego core, there's really nothing new for you there.
If it's an earlier core, though, you might have difficulty in supporting all four 512mb DIMMs at 200/400MHz.  The San Diego 3700+ core I just bought to replace my 130 nm A64 4000+ has the same 1mb L2 cache as the A4000+ it replaced, but an improved memory controller which will support 4 double-sided 512mb DIMMs in this motherboard at full speed of 400MHz DDR.  The 3700+ is 90nm, and is simply generally a better core in terms of errata, power consumption, and, if you ever feel the need to experiment, overclocking.  I would imagine you should be able to pick one up at < 200 pounds, your cost (my keyboard doesn't have a "pound" key...)
My last post in the thread mentions what bios version you should run with this cpu.
Also, unlike the Newcastle or Winchester A3500+ cores, the A3700+ San Diego 90nm core supports SSE3 intructions.  Here's an article you might care to read describing some differences between the A3500+ Newcastle and Winchester cores:

Many thanks for your reply, much appreciated. However a lot of that has just gone right over my head I'm afraid :(
Do I have to strip the PC to find out which processor I have? The invoice I still have for the PC does not state what type it was. This was not a home built PC and was purchased from an online store in the UK.
I have a list from the MSI site of processors that this MB is supposed to take. Am I right in saying that I could install an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Skt939 2.4Ghz 512KB Processor?
Once again many thanks for your help.
    Gazza.

  • Video Upgrade for G5

    Hi,
I finally have Aperture up and running to how I think the program should behave. However, I am finding at times, that Aperture lags quite a bit. From what I have read, this seems to be related to the video card. I am currently using a Dual Core G5, 1GB ram, and the Nvidea 6600. Are there any upgrade cards available for this machine, as I specifically purchased it to run Aperture?
    Thanks
    Glenn

go to www.welovemacs.com. i was able to purchase the nvidia gt 7800. this is the exact card that apple offers as part of their upgrade. it's expensive..over $700 but trust me, it works fine. **** with the warranty. if i have to take the computer in for service i'll put the old card back in. and i also agree with you, apple didn't help out at all. they really ticked me off for sure. i find that folks in this forum know a **** of a lot more than any apple procare or apple store. at the stores the idiot mac genius's (idiots) are arrogant kids only trying to push a product. and the icare... should be called i don't care....even with a stinking schematic of the mother board in hand couldn't figure out what i did on my own. trust me... welovemacs.com is great. i had the card in a couple days and aperture was twice as fast with the images viewing on the screen.

  • Video upgrade for 1287c pavillion desktop

I have tried two different video cards to up grade my pc,  First was a Radeon 7790  that just gave me total blue screen at start up..Up graded all the drivers still no luck, took that card back and purchased a  Geforce gtx 750...This  one takes me to  the blue start up screen and one beep from the mother board ,  I would appreciate any help or suggestions

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number (p/n) of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the side, back, or bottom of your computer, or on the startup BIOS screen. Please see How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? for more assistance locating this information. DO NOT include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and post it here for our review.
It is likely that the video cards you have tried are incompatible with the motherboard in your computer. Please see old_geekster's reply in GTX 750 Ti and HP Pavilion p6-2108p? Are they compatible for a possible solution. Big_Dave should also be able to provide a solution to your issue.

  • Upgrade Video Card for HP Pavilion a6228x Desktop PC

I'm wanting to upgrade the video card and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to a good card for under $60. I just need something equivalient to  "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro" or better. I just got Star Wars the Old Republic and my factory istalled graphics card is not powerful enough. I'm a bit confused on what type of graphics card my desktop takes. I did read that it has
PCI Two (One available) PCI Express x16 One (One available) PCI Express x1 One (One available)
Would a PCI Express 2.0 fit in one of these?
One of the cards I am considering is:

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

    Hi,
You might want to google Stars Wars Old Republic system requirements and see what others are suggesting.  Game performance is also tied to the game quality settings and monitor resolution that you want to use.
I suggested these upgrades for another user wanting some suggestions.

  • Upgrade video card for Late 2005 PowerMac G5

I am looking for an upgrade video card for a Late 2005 PowerMac G5, which has the PCI-Express slots. I need at least 256 MB of VRAM.
Since this computer is a discontinued model, there doesn't seem to be too many options for video cards. I've seen some cards like the NVidia 6600 or 6800, or even ATI's X800, but they appear to be difficult to find.
The one card that is readily available still is the ATI X1900, which looks great, but a little on the pricey side ($349).
I did notice the NVidia 7300 GT, which is more moderately priced ($145), but it only mentions being an upgrade card for the Mac Pro. Will this also work with the PowerMac G5 (Late 2005) model? I would hate to buy this video card and then find out that it won't work.

The only available upgrade card for the Late 2005 G5s is the X1900GT (aka G5 Edition). It's basically on par with the nVidia 7800GT that was available as a BTO option.
You can get the 7800GT and QuadroFX 4500 as replacement parts, but they're exorbitantly priced.
The Mac Pro cards won't work (even though they're also PCI-Express) due to the ROM on the card. It's only setup to work with the Mac Pro's EFI boot system and doesn't have the necessary code to work with the PowerMac's Open Firmware boot system.

That's correct kayraypole! For our upgrade eligible customers, we have a deal that you can trade in any iPhone for a $200 Verizon Wireless gift card. Here's a link so you can check it out, www.trade-in.vzw.com. If you already upgraded & you are within 14 days of purchase then you can return the 5s, restocking fee may be applicable, and take advantage of this promo. How awesome is that!

I want to upgrade my Omni 100 with an ssd. Is there an after market one that is compatible and won't cost a fortune. I'd like 256 or more GB, but the store is quoting almost $500 (includes installation). Thanks.

Any of these will work _ stick to a good band name with a good warranty reputation like Crucial, Samsung or Kingston.
That 500 dollar charge is not un-reasonable.
That covers the labor of re-installing the OS (drivers too for example), your personal files, programs, reactivating them etc....
     It's allot of work.
There are applications that save all this stuff that promise an easy transfer, but they can be unreliable _ sometimes...

Tomcat1015, welcome to the forum. This is normally a symptom of over-heating.  It would be good to find a diagnostic software that has a temperature reading.  Here is a Speedfan.  As soon as it shuts down you should boot and check the temps. Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.
