Video Usage column

I'm using PE10 on a two-year-old iMac computer.
I'm currently working on a large video project using lots of photos and video clips organised into a number of folders.
I've just notiiced that all but the folders i've used most recently have suddenly stopped showing any numbers in the Video Usage and Audio Usage column. This means that I have to rely on my memory to tell me what media I've used. In a project this size - and with my memory - that's difficult.
I don't know how why this information has disappeared (I just hope it doesn't cause a problem when I archive the finished project). More immediately, I'm wondering if there's any way of restoring this information.

What we talking about in the way of numbers already showing in the Project Media List View Video Usage column number....10, 200, more for a given file? It seems to take value at least to 2000...have not tried further.
If you are doing a copy/paste involving a large number of duplicates, the change of number in the VIdeo Usage column can be slow. Often clicking on the panel for the file involved or another updates the number.
I am strictly an Elements Windows user, but I am thinking, if all else fails, flushing the preferences might be worth a try. In Windows, one can do that by deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file. If a Premiere Elements Mac user does not come up with the route, I will search it out.

Hi - I used to like the columns for video usage and audio usage in the project window in PPro 1.5 - in CS3 they're gone - anyone know if there's a way of getting them back?

2014 Video Usage Bug?

I just updated to version 2014.0 / 8.0.0
Win 7 Pro
I frequently use the Video Usage feature in the project window by clicking on the arrow next to the number of instances shown to locate all instances of a clip in a sequence(s).
Since updating to the new version, when I click on the arrow nothing happens. Has this feature been removed or is it s bug? I certainly hope it has not been removed, I rely heavily on this feature.

This issue has already been reported and it works if you click little away from the drop down arrow on the right.

Attachment "Usage" column

Hi, all.
I put an "Attachment Table" item in my page and it seems to work correctly.
I would prefer not to see the column "Usage" in the attachments view in the layout.
I tried using "Personalizations" but it does not allow the change, as the item is mandatory
for data query.
Do you know any method to put it to "not-rendered"?

I've tried this solution:
OATableBean attachment = (OATableBean)webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("attachTable");
attachment.findIndexedChildRecursive("UsageTypeColumn").setRendered(false);
But I'm getting oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.ClassCastException, because "attachTable" is an Attachment Table, not a normal Table.
But using OAAttachmentTableBean I'm not finding the child "UsageTypeColumn".
Anyone know how to remove this usage column? Using code not personalization.

Video usages not showing

video usages not showing in setting->general->usage. it says videos no data but have 2 gb of videos in video app. how to sort this out its really bugging me
i have videos. one more thing why the font color of status bar is not converting color according to background only in video app.elsewhere its fine.

WHY no scrubbing for video in column view??

I recently upgraded my tower to Leopard and I must say I am very disappointed that I cannot scrub through video or audio files in the finder window column view like the last OS.
Is there a setting I can change to get this functionality back? I see this as a huge step backwards. Why would they change this?

Managing video storage with iOS8 - video usage not showing

I've typically deleted video (iTunes tv shows) using manage storage/usage from General settings. For some reason video data usage is not showing and I'm not aware of any other means of freeing up space. I'm not able to delete directly from video itself once data has been downloaded. Help!

To delete videos from your iPad running iOS 8 please follow the steps below.
Delete a video from iPad. Tap Edit in the upper right of your collection, then tap on the video thumbnail. If you don’t see the Edit button, look for on your video thumbnails—those videos haven’t been downloaded to iPad, so you can’t delete them. To delete an individual episode of a series, tap the series, then swipe left on the episode in the Episodes list.
Deleting a video (other than a rented movie) from iPad doesn’t delete it from the iTunes library on your computer or from your purchased videos in iCloud, and you can sync the video or download it to iPad again later. If you don’t want to sync a deleted video back to iPad, set iTunes to not sync the video. See Sync with iTunes.
Important: If you delete a rented movie from iPad, it’s deleted permanently and cannot be transferred back to your computer.

Adobe Premier Pro "Video Usage" in Bridge

Is it possible to see the "video and Sound usage" status in Bridge?
This will allow me to identify the files that I do not have to delete.
I made a feature film creating 40 different projects and 6000 clips.The projects use common clips. Therefore I need to identify
the ones that have been used so I can delete the rest.

Problem with Clip Usage and merged clips in CS6

The 'Clip Usage' drop-down menus don't seem to work in Premiere CS6 for merged clips. The info bar at the top of the project window correctly lists the number of times the viedo and audio from the clip has been used, and the downward-pointing arrow appears, but when you click on it... nothing happens. Same's true of the 'Video Usage' column in the main body of the project window. Non-merged clips work just fine.
Anyone know if this is just a problem with my project, or if it's a bug in Premiere? Had a lot of trouble with merged clips in CS5.5, and was hoping they'd be solved by CS6 - I've been using Creative Suite for a long time, and the lack of good merged clips support was always one of the challenges in persuading other indie editors to switch over from FCP...

Checking for dupicated clips in a movie

I am making a long movie and I believe I have used some clips more than once. How is the best way to check and make sure I only use them one time?

In the Project Panel, you have Video Usage. Unfortunately, as one can have many Instances of a Source Clip, and those can have different In & Out Points, just pure Usage does not mean that you have used the same Clip multiple times, as each Instance can be quite different.
Now, in PrPro's (later versions), if one Rt-clicks on an Asset in the Project Panel, they can Reveal in Sequence, and see each use. I do not know if later versions of PrE have added that, or similar. And again, because a Clip (or segment of a Clip) is used multiple times, it could well be just a different Trim from the "master" Clip.
The only way that I can think of in PrE (at least up to the versions that I have installed to test) would be to step through the Timeline with PageDn, noting the file names. I would probably toggle the Clip Display to Name, and not All Frames, so as to not be distracted by the Frame Displays, and only to see the Clip Names. This will obviously be an exercise in memory.
Hopefully, later versions of PrE have added something like the Reveal in Project (PrE does not have Sequences, so only one Timeline - the Project's), and one can use that to see all Instances. You would still need to determine if those Instances contain the same Trim Points, which would mean that they WERE duplicated.
Good luck, and let's let a user with the newest version comment on Reveal in Project, or similar.

PS - In the Project Panel, one can click+drag on the Video Usage Column header/title and move it closer to the Clip Name. That might keep one from having to scroll about the Project Panel.

How to stop from asking about Missing Clips?

Whenever I start Premiere Elements 8, it asks me to locate some missing clips (I deleted them from my machine as I no longer need them).
If I choose "skip all", it proceeds into Premiere, but the next time I start up, it asks me again!

You are 100% correct. From the OP, it was my understanding that these files were not going to be used in this Project. If they really are, then they need to be retrieved (from backup, hopefully), or by re-Capture, as they have been deleted from the HDD.
Your methods should help in the future, if such media files are really still required. Some do not understand that the Project file is NOT a repository for media - it is only an XML database of links and instructions. This ARTICLE goes into more details on that.
If I am incorrect on these deleted files still being required, I do hope that copies of them exist elsewhere, or that a recovery program, like Stellar-Phoenix, can be run, before the HDD space gets overwritten. I hope that I am correct.

In my exampe above, one can see the Video usage column. In the OP's case, these should be empty, i.e. no numbers present. If they have ANY numbers besides them, they should also appear as Off-Line, and then the OP needs to get those back and in a hurry.

Counting Shots/Cuts in CS4 Premiere?

Hey, thanks for reading.
I wanted to know if there was an easy way to count the number of shots in a given sequence. I have a project and that I'm doing for school and I need to know the exact amount of shots in it. I can see the shots by how many cuts there are, since cuts are what seperate shots. So if there is a way to measure cuts, you get how many shots there were. Does anyone know a way to do this rather than manually? Each little clip that I have is considered one shot, but I can't simply count the number of clips, since of course, one clip can be placed in many places on the timeline, contributing to a lot of shots.
I hope you understand the question. Thanks so much, this will be so annoying to do manually, especially for a project with 100s of shots/cuts.

Welcome to the forum.
The best that you can do is to look in the Video Usage Column in Project Panel. You can then add up the number of times that a "master Clip" is used, and the number of times that individual Clips are used. That will give you the total, but unfortunately, I do not know of a way to do this without doing the addition.
Personally, I move that Column to just after the Type, and use it religiously. I sometimes wish that there was a Total at the bottom, but there is not.

How to know which clips have not been used

Hi,
I am a noob at this, but getting the hand of it. Here is my question: I started with about 20 video files(2h of footage). From all those files, I created about 60 "subclips" that have neatly been organized in a bin. Then I lined all 60 clips one by one. However, I accidently deleted one of those clips in the middle (and can't undo because it was a while ago) and I don't know which clip is was.
What I would to do is select the bin with the 60 subclips, and identify which one (maybe more than one actually) have NOT been inserted in my sequence. Is there a way to do so? Similar to Excel when you select a formula and it tells you which cells was dependants, could I select my sequence and it tells me which clips are "dependant"? Any other suggestions?

Thank you very much, this is EXACTLY what I wanted. For those reading this and that can't find the video usage column, you need to go to "metadata display" in the project menu/button (top right corner of the window) and select "Metadata display" and then add the "video usage" column.
