Video very slow

Hi: Anyone ...  I could use some help. When I click to start a video on my web site, it seems to take a long time to start playing. Is there some HTML coding I can use to pre-load the video (speeding it up).
Thanks for HELP,
Jake

How fast a video loads is not about HTML.   It's about how you are playing it, the size of it, and the speed of the connection.  You haven't given us any clue about how you are playing your video on your page.
I will say that the best way to display a video is to put it on YouTube and embed that in your page.  YouTube is designed from the ground up to display videos that start quickly and play in a manner that is compatible with the widest
set of browsers and operating systems.

  • Safari 3.2.3 Online videos very slow

    Hi. I just purchased a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.7 and Safari 3.2.3. Videos online - such as YouTube, news sites, etc. - are very, very slow. The buffering is extremely slow and the videos stop, start, stop, start and sometimes just hang. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix out there?

    Update to Safari 4.

  • Old i810 mobo with built in video very slow

    Hi All,
    It's been a while since I've posted here, I'm loving Arch all over again.  After distro hopping for a while this year I've settled on Arch once again.  I love the minimalistitc and elegant approach and learning about the configuration files and seeings to keep the system going.  Anyway,  I'm having one issue with an old P3 533 system that rests in a i810 motherboard with on-board video.  The system RAM reads 384 MB in the BIOS as well as when the "free" command is issued which is telling me that the video chip-set is getting zero RAM to work with.  Does anyone know if it's possible to adjust the shared RAM with the video using config files in Linux?  The BIOS does not have any option for this, surprisingly.  Thanks in advance

    I am quite sure that even on those old things RAM to the graphic card is allocated dynamically. I would search elsewhere for your problems. Which problems are those exactly? And which driver are you using?
    And as for that 120 x 80, that's not resolution, it's number of characters. You shouldn't be using vga= anyway, you should be using KMS which will automatically give you a native resolution.
    Gusar,
    My main issue was slow window rendering and movement i.e., very laggy feeling.  When Win XP was on this machine windows were redered much smoother.  Since I'm running openbox, everything should be pretty snappy but it isn't.  I've run Arch on multiple machinex and this is the only one giving me the issue. I'm not trying make a big deal out of this, it just doesn't seem right and I figured there may be an easy fix or something I may have missed.
    Regarding appending vga=771 to the kernel line, I followed the wiki beginner's guide and have been successful with all my other machines except for this one.  If I sjouldn't be using this feature then why is it in the beginner's guide?  I'm usinf xf86-video-intel as my driver and have followed the beginner's guide for all the xorg requirements.

    Videos playing very slow

    So, you're streaming Internet videos and they're slow to stream? That's because of streaming. Try downloading the same videos before playback - a lot of video sharing services (e.g., YouTube) allow for this.

  • Flash video very slow

    hi all,
    Whenever i watch any flash video it almost unwatchable until i let the entire video load, even then it is still very choppy. I already down graded to flash 9, which helped a little but not much. it was fine until i installed leoapard, and i upgraded the ram when i did. I booted off my tiger external and it was still just as bad as leopard is.
    1.2ghz ibook G4
    1.25gb ram
    30gb hdd (15gb free) and on the tiger drive there is 25gb free
    safari 4.1 and 5.0
    both are pretty much clean installations

    Flash is a tremendous resource hog, and the processor in the iBook G4 really isn't up to the task.
    Take a look through the iBook G3 forums, and read this thread as well, and see if any of the advice helps:

  • Youtube videos VERY slow to load

    Has any one else out there had a problem with getting youtube videos to load. My desktop downloads youtube videos in Miliseconds, while the apple tv takes two minutes to download the same thing! We are all wired up, so no wireless problems. Podcasts and movies stream very quickly, just a problem with youtube. Does any one know if the videos are directly downloaded from youtube or do they go through apple servers of some type? I am flustered. Already returned one unit to the store for an exchange.
    HELP!

    I worked with fuji master on this issue and have resolved it, sort of... Fuji's original 160GB AppleTV exhibited the symptom he described on several different WAN connections, although all were Portland Comcast.
    Surprisingly, every 160GB (shipped with take 2) unit we tried had the same symptom but the 40GB models operated perfectly (on the same LAN and WAN). The 40GB was running the same version of the take 2 firmware as the 160GBs and all had been restored prior to testing. I am at a loss to explain how this could be a hardware-specific issue with YouTube, but my best guess is that some incompatibility existed between 160GB AppleTVs and YouTube.
    Today, we configured and tested a new 160GB AppleTV (a firmware update occurred since previous testing) on the same network and YouTube loaded and operated normally.

  • Rendering video VERY SLOW i7 MBP

    I have a pretty good MBP i7 with 8GB ram.
    When rendering a video in Final Cut 7, it takes HOURS to complete.
    The video I'm currently working on has litterally 3 layers.
    1: Image
    2: Looping .mov file
    3: audio file.
    ANY idea why this would take FOREVER to render?
    Thanks guys!

    I have a .mov file at about 9 seconds looping for around 5 minutes.
    I have a PNG file on TOP of that the whole time. Just a static image.
    And I have a audio track below it.
    Sequence range from 5-6 minutes.
    Here are the shots:

  • Live Cam Voice on HP DV8305 -- Video image very slow

    I installed Live! Cam Voice on my HP DV8305 succussfully, it works, but the video image is very slow. it needs about 30sec to capture a frame, sometime just stucked. I changed the Display Adaptive Driver, used differrent USB IF, checked my CPU and Memery usage, my HD space, use differrent IM -- skype, MSN, .... Any one can help?

    As further information, the issue seems to be with the exposure setting. When I turn auto exposure off, then set exposure down as low as it will go, the picture darkens, but the frame rate goes up. I don't have this problem with my Logitech QuickCam Orbit -- I'm not sure if the problem is with the firmware, or if the CMOS sensor in the Live! Cam Voice is just smaller.

    Thank you very much for your reply gdgmacguy :) I did all you suggested apart from restore as new device . Didn't know I could do that . After restore I did restore from back up only,  as I didn't want to end up without contacts details on my phone. If I restore as new device how do I get my all contacts? Still will have to use back up? Sorry if it sounds like I don't know what i am doing, i just have no one to ask who would know. Thank you

  • My MacBook Pro gets very slow while doing  work like watching movies and using net .. video gets lag very often

    My MacBook Pro gets very slow while doing  work like watching movies and using net .. video gets lag very often and while surffing on net it gets very slow ...

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
    Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
    Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
    Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
    Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
    Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
    Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
    Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Video .f4v very slow

    Hello:
    I'm having problems playing f4v video is very slow. The size is 100 MB and resolution 1280x720. When I play out of Flash it reproduces well.
    I need to play in Desktop application not over Internet.
    What I'm doing bad? Is there anywhere to play well or wich is the better option to do it?
    thank you very much.
    This is my code:
    import flash.net.NetConnection;
    import flash.net.NetStream;
    import flash.media.Video;
    import flash.events.AsyncErrorEvent;
    //fullscreen
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
    var conexion:NetConnection= new NetConnection();
    conexion.connect(null);
    var display:NetStream = new NetStream(conexion);
    display.play("videos/ocioelecer.f4v");
    var video:Video = new Video(1280,720);
    video.attachNetStream(display);
    addChild(video);
    display.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, noshow);
    function noshow(event:AsyncErrorEvent):void{
      //no show error
    display.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, statusHandler);
    function statusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void
        switch (event.info.code)
            case "NetStream.Play.Start":
                trace("Start [" + display.time.toFixed(3) + " seconds]");
                break;
            case "NetStream.Play.Stop":
            //End video
                            trace("Stop [" + display.time.toFixed(3) + " seconds]");
            (root.loaderInfo.loader.root as Object).removeSWF();
                break;

    100MB played locally is nothing. Most HDs have burst cache which can load up to 200MB instantly off disk. You shouldn't even need to (but might want to on a really 'value/green' rated drive) set the buffer to require 1 second of data before playing (bufferTime = 1).
    Are you using any kind of integrated graphics, like using a Z-esque Intel chipset with Intel 2000/3000/4000 graphics? Sometimes people over-estimate how well their built in hardware decoders perform.
    You always want to add Event listeners before you invoke a method that uses events. In your code you're adding listeners AFTER invoking a 'play(...)' method. Just for best practice, run the load(...) last.
    Lastly is the video available for inspection? 100MB for 10 seconds is 10MB/s, which is really only required in excessively high quality rendering with a huge gaumet with high motion. 9mbit is average full quality 720p (which is 1.25MB/s). You may have your bitrate set too high as moccamaximum mentioned if you are not in that video situation or striving for lossless video in ultra high motion.

  • Playing video on eMac is very slow.

    Hi I have an eMac 700mhz with 640mb of SD Ram running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and video is very slow but weirdly videos on YouTube play fine and are not choppy or slow at all.
    I have the latest version of flash that will run on this OS : Adobe Flash Player 9.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

    Follow Dale's advice first to run Repair Disk; if there are any disk directory issues, other fixes will just be wasting time until the underlying directory problems are fixed.
    Other things to consider: how much free space is there on the hard drive? Unix-based operating systems, which includes OS X, require disk space for scratch and swap files; burning optical discs requires enough space for creation of a temporary file as large as the physical disc being burned; and other programs may have their own cache requirements. If free space on the boot hard drive runs below 1 GB, the computer will begin to behave poorly can can potentially end up unable to boot. Deleting unused data and files (old .dmg images used to install old programs are a prime candidate for deleting) will help. If space is really tight, get an external Firewire hard drive and move user data there:
    iTunes: Moving your iTunes Music folder
    iPhoto: How to move the iPhoto Library Folder
    If you normally shut down an OS X Mac overnight or leave it in system sleep, the cron maintenance tasks cannot run in their nominal 3 am timeframe. (Display-only sleep allows the maintenance tasks to run). Tiger 10.4.2 and later will (nominally) force the maintenance tasks to run after sufficient time has elapsed, although the timing on that is subject to dispute. You can leave the Mac in display-only sleep a weekend or two a month; you can manually Force Background Maintenance; or you can use a third-party utility such as OnyX to run the maintenance. Note that any system utility you use must be compatible with the OS version (e.g., use the Tiger version of OnyX with 10.4.x).

  • HT4623 I have no sound. I can't watch any videos. Everything is running very slow. Please advise

    I have no sound even though the volume is turned to max. I cannot watch any videos on face book or YouTube. Games are running very slow. I've tried updating but it says software is up to date.

    First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
