Video won't move in playback

I'm using Adobe Premiere CS4 and new to it, but based on what I remembered from my Final Cut Pro days, I was able to get my video imported and edited like I want. Two problems, which are likely for the same reason, although I don't know what that is. My video won't play on the viewing screen in Premiere, which wasn't a problem while I was editing this particular video. But it also won't play during playback after exporting the video and watching it in any viewing software. It is stuck on the first frame of the video, but the sound plays perfectly fine. I tried a few different exporting formats, and completely replaced the video portion with a new import. Nothing has changed yet, and I'm not finding anything in the help search engine that's remotely helpful. Anyone have some suggestions of what this might be caused by and/or some things I could try to fix it? Any assistance is much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
Can you give us the full specs. of the Source Files, and also the Sequence Preset?
Then, the settings for your Export file.
There is likely something there.
Thanks, and good luck,

  • IPhone 4S: Scrubber video controls won't appear during playback

    I've had my 4S for about 2 weeks.  A few days ago, I started having an issue where the video scrubber (play/pause/rev/ff control bar) won't appear on the screen while a video is playing.  I touch the screen multiple times in different areas of the screen; sometimes the controls will appear after 10-15 tries; other times, it won't ever come up, and I'll have to press the home button or sleep/power button before anything will happen.  This only happens while watching a video (podcast, home movie, transferred DVD rip, etc.)  All other apps work as advertised, regarding screen response.
    At the beginning, when this would occur, I'd touch the screen again and again with one finger, then the scrubber would re-appear, but when the video had been finished, I'd return to the home screen and all would be ridiculously magnified to the point that one icon would take up the majority of the screen, and I'd have a **** of a time to get to a slider control or anything until I'd reset power, then all would be normal again.  I think I've fixed that issue by disabling the screen magnification accessibility feature on my iPhone...the iPhone would think that I was touching the screen with three fingers when trying to get the video scrubber bar to appear during video playback, even though I was only using one finger.
    Still having the video playback/scrubber bar issue though.  Searched the forum and found this issue related to an iPad, but couldn't find any mention of it with an iPhone.  Any comments/suggestions?

    I've reset it numerous times (simultaneously pressing power and home buttons until rebooted) to no avail.  Everything works perfectly on this phone, touchscreen-wise, except when viewing videos.  I guess I'll just press the power button to pause a movie until this glitch is fixed.

  • My movies and music videos won't show up on screen, I can hear the sound but not see the video how do I fix this?

    My movies and music videos won't show up on my computer screen, I can hear the sound but not see the video how do I fix this? I'm not sure what to do as far as turning my purchased movie into DVD goes either. I just want to put the movie onto a DVD disc but my itunes won't even show that I have a blank disc in the drive, I'm not sure what is wrong or how to fix this, any help at all would be much appreciated.

    Hi @anthony7722 ,
    Thank you for your query, I will do my best to help!
    I grasp that you uninstalled the Intel graphic driver and the catalyst control.  You reinstalled the Intel driver and now you can view and hear videos on the Internet but you are unable to set the resolution as high as previously.
    When I checked the specifications for your notebook I see that you have switchable graphics.
    Here are two links that I believe will help.
    Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs
    Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs
    Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv7-6150eb Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
    Please try this process.
    1. Download the chipset driver, and both graphic drivers and save them  but do not install them yet
    2, Delete the chipset driver and install the updated one.
    3. restart your notebook
    4.Delete the Intel driver and install the updated one
    5. restart your notebook
    6. Delete the AMD driver and install the updated driver.
    You should now have a Catalyst Control Center.
    This should now allow you to use the higher graphic card which should support the higher resolution.
    I hope this helped.

    Thanks for all your help and thorough answers. After trying several things
    without success, I ultimately just rebooted the system and...bingo...the
    problem went away. It was such an unusual problem that it just didn't occur

  • .mpeg4 and.mov videos won't play on apple tv

    My home videos are both .mov and .mpeg4 files and when we try to play them on our apple tv the sounds plays fine but the screen is green and frozen.
    Help please!!

    Neither the ATV1 nor the ATV2 will play just any (or all) .mov or .mpeg4 files. Both the format and the resolution must conform to the ATV specs (which can be found on Apple's website).
    Try converting one of the problem files using QuickTime and use the Apple TV preset.

  • Have reset Firefox & completed all of steps in "Flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites", but video still won't work. Help!

    I have reset Firefox, completed all the steps in "flash video won't play full screen on YouTube, Facebook and other websites". And the video still won't play in full screen. It will play, but frequently stops or sound continues and picture freezes. I have noticed that if I continually move my mouse, it plays fine. All these videos play fine in IE and Chrome.

    Some problems with Flash video playback can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings. (See [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|this article]] for more information on using the Flash plugin in Firefox).
    To disable hardware acceleration in Flash Player:
    #Go to this [http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues Adobe Flash Player Help page].
    #Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
    #Click on '''Settings''' in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
    # Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel. <br/> <br/>[[Image:fpSettings1.PNG]] <br/>
    # Remove the check mark from '''Enable hardware acceleration'''.
    # Click '''Close''' to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    # Restart Firefox.
    This [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player Help - Display Settings page] has more information on Flash Player hardware acceleration, if you're interested.

  • How to edit JVC/Panasonic/Canon .mod video in Windows Movie Maker then upload to YouTube for sharing

    Quick View:
    Part 1: How to import .mod video to Windows Movie Maker
    Part 2: How to edit the video with Windows Movie Maker
    Part 3: How to upload your video to YouTube
    Know More:
    1. Which Camcorders record video in .MOD type?
    2. What file types are supported by Windows Movie Maker?
    3. What file types are supported by YouTube?
    Part 1: How to import .mod video to Windows Movie Maker
    Step 1: Load files
    First copy the MOD file from your video camera to your hard drive, then download, install and run MOD Converter, click the "Add Files" button to browse your computer hard disc and load the MOD/TOD video files you want to convert to the program.
    Step 2: Output Setting
    In the bottom of the main interface, select an output format supported by Windows Movie Maker for each video file and specify a directory on your computer to save the output files.
    Step 3: Start convert
    Click "Start" button on right bottom of the main interface, you are allowed to start conversion.
    Step 4: Import converted video to Windows Movie Maker
    Click on "File". Then click on "Import". A window will appear. In the window, navigate to the video clip you converted just now. Then double click on the file. You'll see the icon for the file in your Windows Movie Maker "Collections".
    Part 2: How to edit the video with Windows Movie Maker
    Step 1: Add transitions and special effects
    In the Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie, click View video transitions.
     Preview transitions by double-clicking them and watching the Preview Monitor. Once you've found a transition you like, drag it from the Video Transitions pane, under Edit Movie pane to the box between two of your clips. This inserts the transition between the two clips.
    Step 2: Add titles and credits
    If you want to add a title before, after, or on top of a clip, click the clip on the storyboard or timeline.
    In the Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie, click Make titles or credits.
    Step 3: Add Music
    In the Movie Tasks pane in Movie Maker, under Capture Video, click Import audio or music.
     In the Import File dialog box, click the name of the song you want to use in the background. Then click Import. This adds your song to your collection but does not add it to your video. Drag the song from the collection to the video clip where you want the music to start playing.
    Step 4: Add narration
    If you have a desktop computer, connect a microphone. Microphones are available from most electronics stores. If you have a portable computer, you can use the built-in microphone. However, you will get a better-quality recording if you connect an external microphone. In Movie Maker, click the Tools menu, and then click Narrate Timeline. On the timeline, click the clip you want to narrate. You can narrate clips one at a time, or you can narrate the entire movie all at once. If you narrate individual clips, you can rearrange them later and keep your narration synchronized. If the narration is too loud or too soft in comparison to the movie, right-click the narration on your timeline, and then click Volume.
    Step 5: To save your movie to your computer
    In the Movie Tasks pane, under Finish Movie, click Save to my computer.
     The Save Movie Wizard appears. On the Save Movie File page, type a name for your movie. You can also choose a folder to save it in by clicking the Browse button, but My Videos (the default) is usually the best place to save your movie. Then click Next. On the Movie Setting page, click Next to accept the default setting of Best quality for playback on my computer.
    Movie Maker saves your movie, which might take several minutes. On the Completing the Save Movie Wizard page, click Finish. If Play movie when I click Finish was selected (it is selected by default), the movie will automatically play in Windows Media Player. Now you can watch your videos anytime by opening your My Videos folder and double-clicking your movie.
    Part 3: How to upload my video to YouTube
    A video file should meet the following requirements so that it can be uploaded to YouTube site.
    1. In an acceptable format: WMV, MPEG4, MOV, AVI and MPEG.
    2. Video length is shorter 10 minutes.
    3. File size is smaller than 1GB.
    Step 1: Sign up a YouTube account or Gmail account, then click the Upload button on any YouTube web page. See the figure below:
    Step 2: Type in the information of your video file, including Title, Description, Category and tags. To increase the chances that your video can be easily found, you should put as much information as possible.
    Step 3: Set this video to be public or private.
    Step 4: Click the "Upload a video" button. When you see the next window, click the "Browse" button to select the video file you want to upload. Then click the "Upload Video" button to upload it. After the upload is finished, you will see the completion page. See the figure below:
    Step 5: Click "My Videos" and you will see the video.
    Know More:
    1. Which Camcorders record video in .MOD type?
    MOD is the video file type used on many digital camcorders, such as the JVC Everio, the Canon FS100 and the Panasonic D-Snap SD-card camcorders. Accompanying the MOD video file, there exists MOI file that stands for the index file for MOD.
    2. What file types are supported by Windows Movie Maker?
    You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:
    Video files: .avi, .wmv, .mpeg, .mpg., .asf, m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, , .mpv2, and .wm.
    Audio files: .mp3, .wav, wma, .mp2, .aiff, .aif, .aifc,.asf, .au,.mpa, and .snd.
    Picture files:.jpeg, .jpg, .jpe, .png, .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif,.tif, .tiff, and .wmf
    3. What file types are supported by YouTube?
    YouTube accepts a wide range of video file formats.The video files below are all accepted by YouTube. Some video formats work best and are most compatible with certain computers, software or devices. Windows Media Video (.WMV)
    .3GP (cell phones)
    .AVI (windows)

  • Embedded video won't work on windows machine....

    A friend has asked me to post video on a webpage so I initially put the m4v video on a "movie" page in iweb, published the video. While it plays fine on my mac, it won't work when accessed via a pc. So my next thought was to publish the video to Blip Tv and then embed the code for the flash converted video into iweb. I did this using the insert html snippet function in iWeb. Again, it works fine from my mac but won't load when using a pc. Here's an example:
    http://web.me.com/dgmeyer/LAX/TEST_MOVIE.html
    Any idea why this isn't working??? THanks.

    I did the flash video version using Blip TV which I guess is similar to you tube. Once completed, the site offers the code needed to embed the video into a website-- which is what I did and initially, the video wouldn't play in the Internet Explorer environment. Once I downloaded the latest flash player, it worked however it would be nice if there was a way to include the code for the appropriate flash player with the video -- is that possible? Can you self host flash video on a .mac/me account? Thanks for your help.

  • Videos won't play in powerpoint when connected to projector

    I've tried to find a solution for my problem online but haven't come across anyone with the same issue. I often work with powerpoint presentations with many videos in it. The videos play just fine on my laptop and also when hooked up to an external monitor, which I use when at work, both in slideshow mode and when previewing my animations. However, when I hook up my mac onto a projector the videos won't play - not on my laptop screen nor on the projected screen. I've tried rearranging the displays by draggin the menu bar to either display and also switched from mirror screens to presenter's view within powerpoint but nothing helped solve the issue. The only solution I found is to play the presentation on my windows partition - which is not really what I'm planning to do for long term...
    I'm using Powerpoint 2011 for mac and this problem has occurred using multiple projectors.
    Any help on how to solve this issue is highly appreciated!

    I had the same problem today in front of an audience with 300 people (MacbookPro OSX 10.10, Thunderbolt-VGA adapter, PPT 14.4.6).
    Here what I figured out so far:
    1. It happens when you have PPT open and connect to beamer afterwards
    2. You can resolve it (in my case) by quitting PPT and launching it WHEN connected to beamer
    3. Yet, make sure Mac does not go into sleep mode or you get a lock-screen in the waiting time. if you do so, you get back to square 1. quit PPT again 2. restart it.
    4. Also.... in one case I had to hit the volume control once to get the sound back even though movie was playing
    So in short: Connect to beamer first, then launch PPT
    I know it is only a symptom fix but it worked for me

  • DVD videos won't play, although audio works?

    since upgrading to 10.8.4, DVD videos, including rental movies, discussions from teaching sessions, and conversions from home movies won't play, although sound is audible. Video player is "App version 5500.38.2; Framework version 5.7.1. I have rarely used DVDs on the machinge, but did work fine in past. Any suggestions appreciated

    What comes to mind is that the DVD player will only work with certain original Apple manufactured DVD drives.  (Licensing issue since Apple pays a license fee for the MPEG software on the DVD drive.)  Are you using the original built-in drive?  VLC doesn't care about the license but states that it is up to the user to insure proper licensing.  Look in About This Mac to see what information it has about the DVD drive.  Perhaps it is somehow sending the wrong information.
    Can you view MPEG movies on the Apple site.  For example the movie trailers.

  • Flex 4 Chart title won't move when positioned

    Hi,
    I have an issue with my horizontal chart title in my Flex 4 bar chart--it just won't move when I try to position it someplace other than the default (which is center).
    I followed the example in the livedocs: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/html/help.html?content=charts_displayingdata_05.html, specifically the one using the 'titleRenderer" property of the AxisRenderer, and setting it to my custom AxisRenderer class. Here is my code:
    package classes.view
        import mx.charts.*;
        import mx.charts.chartClasses.ChartLabel;
        public class ChartTitleRenderer extends ChartLabel
            public function ChartTitleRenderer()
                super();
            override protected function updateDisplayList(w:Number, h:Number):void {
                super.updateDisplayList(w, h);
                this.setStyle("textAlign","left");
    Setting the textAlign property doesn't work. I have tried setting this property in the css as well and applying it directly to the axis, which also doesn't work. I have also tried "this.x = -100" etc, to no effect. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Ray,
    To do the "masking" that you are referring to, I think that two Effects (explore each, to see which works best for you), will give you what you want:
    The Crop Effect, applied to the Still Images in Video Track 3. This Effect can be Keyframed to change, as is required over time.
    The 4-Point Garbage Matte Effect.
    If the Still on Video 2 is sized to the Frame of the Project, say 1920 x 1080 for Full-HD, it will "cover" the Video on Video Track 1.
    Note: it is best to Scale the Still Images to very close to what you want/need, in PS, or PSElements, prior to Import. What you are doing with the Still Images in Video Track 3 is creating a PiP (Picture in Picture). This ARTICLE goes into more detail on
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Using Captivate 5 videos won't load

    I am publishing to the Flash format using Captivate 5.5. I've tried publishing with and without the skin, and either way, the videos won't load when I try to open them with a link to the website where they are posted. They do open if I double-click on the htm in a network file folder.  I do not have this problem with older Captivate videos I created with Captivate 3. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why they won't open?

    I found the answer to why my movie wouldn't play after publising.
    Some smart user named nsukumar stated that if you used text animations it causes problems.
    Sure enough, when I removed the text animation the finished results worked perfectly!
    Thank you nsukumar where ever you are!

    Copied URL.

    Paste into Quicktime - tries to load, won't start.
    I have Flip4Mac, but that doesn't seem to help here.
    Is there an exrension I need to change in Safari?
    Is there a video player I need to get?
    Ideas?
