when i try to open a video in photoshop cc, error message says can not play video in this version of windows 7.

I opened System Profiler by launching it from Utilities.
It comes up with a different name to the admin name though. Maybe that's why it won't open from "About this Mac"?
For example, the computer's name when I set it up using the USB installer stick is "Harry Potter".
But the old MBA that I had was named "js".
When I install programs, it comes up with "Harry Potter", put in password.
However, when I look up the System Profiler information using Utilities, it comes up with "js's MacBook Air (2)".
Does that matter?
Is the name thing causing the problem with the "About This Mac" not opening?
I am really confused about all of this.
The information in the System Profiler is about the newer MBA.
Should I just not worry about this problem? And just open it up from Utilities if I need to look up System Profiler information?

Video won't open in iPad/iPad 2

I've tried several different saves using the presets for iPad and went to the Apple store to find the actual settings for the video's to open in iPad/iPad2. Still I can see the download from the server I use for my clients but they (the client) say they don't get anything or they get a circle with line running through it. Meaning it won't download. I have a small on-line business where video's are downloaded to the client. I need to figure this out.
I've tried widescreen, regular screen, medium and quality, File type is H264, frame: 29.97 or 30, AAC, 128 kbps, 48 kHz Stereo
I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - Version 10
Any suggestions?

This is correct Steve. I have one very irrate new client who can not open it and a friend who is also having trouble. The server I use shows the downloads going through. I don't have an iPad to test it so I have no idea what is happening on their end. My friend said she is getting the circle with line through it. The client doesn't reply.
I just uploaded the video to Photobucket for a group share. You'll see I'm a beginner in the design area but the formatting seems like it should be pretty straight forward.

I have this on a server who automates a link to the client after payment and that is where they are getting the video from. I can't set this up for a group share but can send it to an individual email address to test. This is the first time I've sent it out from the photobucket format so not sure if this will make a difference in it opening to the iPad. I guess we will see if this is part of the problem.

Captivate 5.5 videos won't open in IE

When I publish a video with .swf, .swf_skin, and htm files, it works in other browsers, but won't open in Internet Explorer.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Most of our clients use IE.

Flash Video Won't Open and Play in Online Site

When I upload my Flash Video files to the online server, the HTML page opens but the Flash Video doesn't open and play. If I open the HTML page in preview mode in Dreamweaver CS5, the HTML page opens and the Flash Video plays OK. I have tried using the Adobe Media Encoder to produce the FLV file as well as tried exporting the FLV from Adobe Premiere CS 5.5, but neither makes any difference. The Flash Video still doesn't play when files are uploaded to the site online. I have also tried using different versions of Flash Professional to create and publish the SWF movie file, but nothing I try seems to make the Flash Video open and play online. The test site I have set up is http://www.hgatest.org then you can click the “video” link to open the Flash Video. Video HTML page URL is http://www.hgatest.org /video.html   You can then see what I am talking about. Please help. This just started happening about 6 months ago and it has been driving me crazy. Homepage won't open after this last update.

Just ran update. Now Safari won't open the homepage, no matter how often I reset it. It just opens to the Top Sites page. The homepage option now seems dead. Any suggestions?

Visit the site you want it to be the home page.
Safari > Preferences > General
New windows open with:
Select Home page in the pop-up menu box
New tabs open with :
Select Home page in the pop up menu box
Click the "Set to Home page" button under the Home page.
Hold the shift key down and launch Safari.

Photoshop CC won't open or create files in Windows 8.1 Pro

When I open up Photoshop CC 2014, the program won't open or create files... it just sits there. No error message of any sort. This happens when opening from within the program and from opening through windows. I installed CC as soon as I installed Windows on this computer.

Outlook 2010 won't open after installing icloud for windows

Hi,
Installed icloud for windows at work this morning after moving my MM account to icloud at home on my MBP.
Installed ok but after ticking the mail, contacts, calendar and bookmark boxes on icloud for windows Outlook 2010 starts but won't open and stays on the "Processing..." for a long time before I close it.
Also the icloud for windows control panel won't reopen except the time it opens after installation. I have tried removing it and rebooting but after it's installed, if you close the control panel it won't reopen although it's still running in Task Manager. Closing it in Task Manager and restarting doesn't make a difference.
Currently I removed, rebooted and reinstalled and only have the bookmarks ticked and outlook works ok but the control panel still won't reopen.
I am on a exchange server so don't know if this is part of the problem. Not real worried about mail but would like calendars working again.
Very thankful for any help you can offer.

I had the same problem after successfully moving from MobileMe to iCloud yesterday on my PC, ipad and iphone.
Today I couldn't open Outlook 2010. An Outlook dialogue box for my MobileMe email account kept asking for the email password, and although I put the password in, it kept re-appearing.
I turned off Norton spam temporarily, because I noticed Outlook was stuck processing the Norton plug ins at opening, and managed to open Outlook but the programme crashed every time I tried to access my email account settings (I thought I would try to delete the MobileMe email account).
I then opened the Control Panel for iCloud and unchecked the Mail with Outlook box, which has enabled Outlook to work again. The @me.com email account was gone when I checked the email accounts. I never needed to use the @me.com email account anyway.
How frustrating and such a waste of my time.
Does anyone know what difference it makes if the MobileMe/iCloud email is not connected to Outlook? Does it really make any difference when you have your email accounts in the iPad and iPhone anyway?

Indesign CS5.5 won't open/start after a recent windows 8 update -- how to fix?

I just had a Windows 8 auto update happen and then my Indesign CS5.5 won't open/start. When I go to open it, it gets to the usual screen but then an error message shows up saying that Windows has encountered a problem and needs to shut the program down, and will notify me if a solution exists. What to do?

Do you see anything useful in the Event Viewer logs? Have you tired rebooting? Does it start if you log in with a different username?

IMovie won't open, is this a leopard problem or a application problem?

Every time I try and open imovie, I get the "application quit unexpectedly" before the program even launches. I reinstalled ilife but same result. all my other applications work fine, so I don't really know what to do. Any suggestions?

I don't even get far enough for the program to terminate. The icon bounces a bit, then just sits there. No splash screen, even. No genie-open effect. The app goes to "not responding." No crash! (Because, you know, a dump might TELL ME SOMETHING.) Even a dialog box with "Psych!" would be preferable.
I've removed prefs and anything else I could find and rebooted, to no effect.
No error messages except this in the console (and that was on update. Nothing on open.):

Pretty innocuous. I haven't put on any updates besides developer tools and am up to date with 10.5.2 and software updater.

Project won't open on this computer

I was working on a project and closed FCP. WHen I went to open again, I got the beach ball when opening the project. I dumped the plist and got the same thing. I tried a new user and got the same thing. Here's the strange thing that has me stumped. We opened FCP on another computer and opened my file from that computer and it opened. ??? My computer will open FCP but not the file. I can create a new file or open another.
I repaired permissions on the HD and the raid seems to be fine. I can play files directly on the raid.
WHat's up?
I need this project to open... desperately!

This has happened to me before... I opened a project I had created in a previous version of FCP in the current version, and It would crash for apparently no reason. But then I noticed though it would crash as soon as I moved the playhead to a specific part.
Turned out to be an old Motion file created in the previous version of motion, that I was using as lower thirds. I managed to delete the bad file from the sequence and thankfully everything else worked fine.
Good luck!
(Now to be on the safer side, I export movies of my Motion projects and use those in the sequence instead to avoid this sort of thing from happening.)

Happily used Firefox for 2 years, suddenly it won't open - getting this error message: "Platform Version incompatible with minversion =1.9.1.11 maxversion =1.9.1.11" What can I do?

Before this happened, I was having a problem for about a month where Firefox wouldn't close. I'd close the browser window, and later when I tried to reopen it to connect to the Internet, I 'd get a msg saying that Firefox is already running, and I must close the current window before opening a new one. I'd have to restart my computer at this point.
I don't know if this is related to why I can no longer use Firefox at all.

The "Platform version incompatible" error message can be caused by a problem with the installation of Firefox. Remove your current installation of Firefox and re-install.
# Delete all the files and folders inside the Firefox installation directory - C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
# Download the latest installer from [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ Mozilla] and install it.
Doing the above will not remove your bookmarks, passwords etc, since they are stored in a separate folder.
If after re-installing you get the "already running" error, see [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]].

IPhoto won't open using this version

I got ilife 11 just to get iweb and ever since i installed it i have been unable to open iphoto it always says you have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. do you want to quit and use the latest version of iphoto, or do you want to create a new photo library and the only option i have is to click on quit then it just closes everything out. I have thousands of family pictures that are irreplaceable in iphoto and im anxious to see them come back. thanks you

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Ipod says 'this video won't play on this ipod'

I have a 30 gb 5th gen ipod with video. One of the videos I downloaded from itunes played on my ipod until I connected it to my imac g5 with latest itunes available and then it says the video can't be played on this ipod. I also have latest version of quicktime player. Any help?

I just received the same error message and I have the 5th gen Ipod. I also have the most recent version of Quicktime. The video plays through Itunes but the error message is when I sync.
