After searching the support communities i found this and it worked!!!
Try:
Quit iChat.
Open Terminal (it's in the Utilities folder, in the Applications folder).
In Terminal type or paste this command on a single line:
defaults write com.apple.iChat newbwdup 300000
Press Return.
Quit Terminal.
Open iChat.

  • This computer doesn't support video chats

This is the information my iMac shows when I want to call friends.  Next to my picture the Audio image is showing.  Until yesterday it worked perfectly.
Even now I can video chat on Skype or FaceTime.  But no Messages anymore.  What is wrong?

    Hi,
On starting up the app it make a check on whether it can see enough Internet Speed to do Video chats.
If the app is started when the computer is the network may not be established when the check is made.
Sometimes the computer is busy establishing links over the network not leaving enough for Video chats.
Other computers or Games Consoles that might be doing Downloads can also effect what speed (or portion (Bandwidth) of the connection) can be seen.
    Try restarting the app.
If that does not work try shutting down the app and then restarting the computer before restarting the app.
    If that fails do this:-
    Shut the app down.
    Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities)
Copy the Bold text below and paste it in Terminal and hit the enter key.
    /Applications/Messages.app/Contents/MacOS/Messages -errorLogLevel 7
This will launch from Terminal and create a log whilst doing so.
The Log will pause once the Buddy lists have logged in (AIM, Jabber or Yahoo accounts).
The Log will show the CommNAT settings at the bottom.
    Like this:
    External Ports: 16403, 16403, 16403
    CNAT_BADTEST ....... 0
    CNAT_ISFULLCONE .... 0
    CNAT_ISPAT ......... 0
    CNAT_ISPATHOST ..... 0
    CNAT_TRYPRESERVE ... 1
    CNAT_PATINORDER .... 0
    CNAT_BLOCKIP ....... 1
    CNAT_BLOCKPORT ..... 1
    CNAT_LOOPBACK ...... 0
At this point Quit Messages in the normal way.
Copy the bits of the Log that state the Bandwidth (BDW)
I have the setting in Preference > Video > Bandwidth Drop set to 500 so mine looks like this
195919.490273 BWD: cache: 73:16 too old
195919.490284 BWD: Using QuickTime value: 500000
195919.490292 BWD bandwidth: 500 kbits up, 500 kbits down.
It lists it in bytes and adjusts to kilobytes.
Anything below 128kbps is unlikely to support Video.
Not the upload as well as download speed.
    You can now quit Terminal.
Also check what speed you are getting

  • IChat says, " This computer does not supporting video conference"

When i log in to iChat dan choose video preview, the window appears with sentence says,"This computer does not supporting video conference" in my Macbook Black with iSight camera built-in. Can anybody solve this ?

The same thing is happening to my brother's computer. He has a PowerBook G4 867MHz with 1.12GB of RAM. This barely meets the system requirements, but, nonetheless, I was able to install Leopard.
It says the reason I can't do a 1-1 video chat is because of a slow network, but it still says this even when I'm using the Bonjour buddy list on a local (54g only) network.
According to the knowledge base article (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306687), there is no reason why he couldn't participate in a 1-1 video chat.

i would try an SMC reset, the following article tells how to do this:

if it still gives that message, you need to take it to apple store or apple service provider to have a new card installed. the apple site gives listings of providers and stores in your area:

  • HT202239 This computer does not meet the recommended system requirements for 3D titles.

    Hey guys.
Today I downloaded FCP 10.2 and when enabling 3D text this message appeared "This computer does not meet the recommended system requirements for 3D titles". I ignored it and continued working on the 3D text, everything looked fine. Could someone tell me what the difference is when working on a not compatible computer?
    Thanks!

    Tech specs for 10.2

I guess you have the minimum to download, but VRAM isn't enough for 3D.

  • This computer does not support video chats

Why does Apple BREAK functionality whenever they 'upgrade' the OS?
BEFORE i upgraded to Mountain Lion, iChat video worked fine.
as you can see from the screen capture, the camera and audio are detected (and working), but Messages thinks my iMac does not support video chats.
    any ideas?

    hi,
If Messages is starting up at the same time sa the computer then start it separately.
It will "read" the speed it can see at this time and "write" it to the .plist involved.
At computer Start up the Computer is busy making connections itself and uses a large amount of your Bandwidth distorting what iChat or Messages can "See"
Do a Speed test and compare this to what you think you should be getting.
AS you say it can pay to try a router reboot if the speed looks a little low.

  • "This computer does not support iTunes live streaming." Help?

Just trying to catch up with the iTunes Festival, but for some reason when I click on the videos in the iTunes store, that little notification about "This computer...." shows up.
    What should I do?

I am trying to figure this out too.
this is what I have tried so far
    - using the iPhone app I was able to watch Adele live on my iPhone 4.
    - on my Windows 7 PC, using the same itunes account as on my phone, I was able to watch the reply of Adele.
but, while on my work Computer (Windows Vista) and using the same itunes account as mentioned above, I am unable to view the Adele replay.
both PC's are running iTunes 10.3.1 and using the same iTunes account.  The difference is the Windows version, but you post says you are using Windows 7, which I was able to get the reply to work on.
    I am in Canada.

    Hi @jmuk
    Thank you for your reply.
As the screen shot you provided does indicate you should turn off shadowing or caching in the bios have you done this?
Have you tried installing the updates  in safe mode?
