VideoChat with Z10 and PlayBook

just posted on the PB forum
I dont know how to share if not just posting here
Hi all
I dont know where to post I choose here but i would like  to post or to share with the Z10 forum as well
PLEASE admin . and Mods ..
.can you share  or post  with everybody.else ..
thanks... in the mean time I will post on my local forum
any whoo
Im the proud and Lucky owner of a Z10  and 2 Playbooks ( no complains at all)
and here is a little info  of how  all started...
I have 2 little girls  9 and 10   and they  where playing with the PBs around the house doing the video chat
and while they were hiding in places..
then I thought wouldnt be nice if you can chat with the Z10 the same way?????
well  one day I grabbed one PB
* I opened video chat:
* I add a New contact :
* name -  last name :   Z10   -   BB
* then I enter the Z10 Pin :      548XXXCD
then click .....save
then right there hit to connect with the Z10  and BANG ...I got the video call on my Z10 Wohhohooo
well it was an 80 % connection.. and the  voice was choppy... some times freezing
Maybe because the Z10 and that  one  PB share the same BB-id .?? and E-mail ??
.My wife took the other PB to a trip.. cant try right now,
THEN I went to the Z10
open contacts:
add new one:
Name - last name  ---     PLay  Book
PB pin:   --------------------  2434XXX
save.
opened BBm and invite contact...  sent the invite..
well it didnt work ....  Im still waiting on the acceptance  wich I never receiven on the PB
I tried  outside ,inside the house and around the Block ,
with BBm close  and BBm opened
worked fantastic..well for that little bit that worked.....
no need to be on the same  page like Skype or other video chat..
so far only from PlayBook cam make a call to the Z10 / BBm
but I cant from the Z10 to the PB
PLease try if you have  a PB and Z10
its a fantastic way to connect with a native app instead a thirds party
I would like to know how to fix this..
I need some expert advice thanks..
should we push Blackberry to do something about it ??
or a good app for this????

Lou,
My son actually calles me on my Z10 via Playbook with video chat and works amazing.  But I can't call him from my Z10 to Playbook, because when I got the playbook, I registered my BB ID same as my Z10.. The only way to make the Z10 call the Playbook is to have a diffrent BBID assoicated with the playbook. This can be done, but a secure wipe has to be done on the playbook and any software you bought would be gone.  The other way it would work is if Blackberry Installs BBM on the playbook then it would solve the issue.

  • Handsfree with Z10 and new OS 10.1

    Hi,
I am very happy with my new Z10.  But since I updated to the newest OS  I have major problems with my bluetooth handsfree in the car
    Some details:
I deleted the Z10 in the car handsfree and the Z10 and started a new connection of both. The connection was veryfied and both devices seams to be connected (status on both sides is green). If  I  dial a number the z10 is quiet and the handsfree also. I cant hear anything (not even the dialtone) on both devices and the contact I called also hears nothing. After that I am also not able to end a call from my handsfree.
It seams that the connection between the two devices is not correct or even a handshake on bluetooth is not working.
Bevor the Upgrade to 10.1 everything was fine with all functions. What are the changes from 10.0 to 10.1  and how can I fix that problem ?
    thanks for help and regards

no ideas to fix that problem ?

Well, after reading through the different questions on here, From what I gather the z10 dosnt support the playbook as of yet anyway. I hope they will fix this prolem as I really do like and use my playbook. even though they are discontunied.

Connected to my computer today, asked for my usual password but failed to connect.  Checked on My Computer window for the usual Z Drive (blackberry) without success.  Could it be my device manager , connection cable or what.  Any ideas please

    Hi tuppymob,
Do you have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed on your computer? Also note, the BlackBerry PlayBook will show up as the Y Drive on your computer.

  • Cannot receive email over WiFi on some networks with Z10

I am experiencing some issues with Z10s and recieving emails on certian wireless networks.
The phone connects to the networks properly and can access the internet through WiFi, but email messages do no flow when connecting to some wireless networks.
The phone is connected through a BES10 server and works poperly over the cellular data and some wireless networks, but it seems that certian networks it will not connect.  I run one of the networks that they cannot connect from.
Any insight on this issue would be great.
Also iphones, older Blackberries, andriod devices all work correctly on this wifi network.  It is only the z10 that does not.
    Thanks.

  • Tethering via USB between the Z10 and a laptop or PC & and few Comments About the Playbook Tethering

Tethering via USB between the Z10 and a laptop or PC can be a bit tricky.
On the Z10 do the following:
On the Z10 go to the Settings.
    Go to Network Connections.
    Go to Internet Tethering.
    Select USB.
    Turn on Tethering.
On the computer run the Blackberry Link software for the Z10:
Once the software starts, connect the Z10 via the USB cable to the PC.
    Open the browser.
You should now be able to cruise the net, and do emails.
With the Playbook, the Bluetooth tethering does not yet work. This may be an OS or communications issue.
The best way to tether the Playbook for full speed and functions is using the WiFi option. Simply turn on the WiFi hot spot option and follow the instructions. The Playbook WiFi must also be properly set up. The Z10 USB and Bluetooth tethering mode must be turned off when using the WiFi mode. You can leave the base Bluetooth active on the Z10. There is a lot of available information about using the WiFi hot spot from the Z10. The process is very similar to the past models of Blackberry phones.
If you use the Bridge mode to tether, the Playbook email client software does not work very well. The browser will work fairly well, but slower with the Bridge mode. With WiFi the Playbook can brows at very high speed. With Bluetooth it is restricted to about 1.5 to 2.5 mb/sec. Take care that the WiFi mode burns through battery time very fast on both the Playbook and the Z10. Using the Bridge mode uses less power consumption than WiFi.
To use the Bridge mode, make sure the Playbook and the Z10 are first Bluetooth mated. Also the Bridge mode has to be set up between the devices. You will have to first install the Bridge software in to the phone for this to work.
I did extensive testing between the Z10 and the Playbook. They function well together as far as Internet and email are concerned, in consideration of using either tether or Bridge, depending on what you want to do.
From what I understand the Bridge mode uses some compression. It will not be as fast as using WiFi or Bluetooth tethering. The data cost using the Bridge mode is probably a bit lower because of the compression.
As far as the Bridge phone options are concerned, these features are not yet available. From what I read in a number of articles there are going to soon be some updates coming out to fix this. The Bridge options are a big part of the tablet application with the Blackberry phone. This was the big original application point of this tablet, otherwise any generic tablet would do the job.

From the look of this thread it appears that no one outside of Canada uses an OS 10 BB yet.  247 views and no comments or help ?  I'm sure I'm not the only BB user that uses Tether.  If BB doesn't care to help then this will just be another nail in the corporate coffin that has been projected.
Maybe we need different forums for US users as the Canadians don't seem to have the same issues or cares.
The whole idea of the app Tether is not to have to pay the outrageous tethering fees that US carriers charge and it has worked well for years.  But it can't work and won't work in the future without help from BB and the BB community.

  • Opening Blend, I'm met with TWO device choices my Z10 and another that I don't recognize

Actually, when I first open Bland on Samsung Tab S, I see my Z10.  I enter the Password.  It goes through some process and then I am met with TWO device, the Z10 and Device-xxxx where I guess XXXX is some partial PIN number but I don't recognize it.  So I then have to reselect the Z10 and again enter its password.  Basically logging in TWICE.  Somewhat irritating but I'm more curious what's the other device and how do I eliminate it.  Going to BBID site I don't see any place to specify devices associated with my BBID.  And it is not the partial PIN of either of my Playbooks (heaven forbid Blend from supporting BB's own devices).

So, I gather it is some residual device that BBID had/had associated but I don't know where to go to remove it from the pool.
The current Z10 replaced a defective one about a year ago and I don't recall its PIN number.
Where does BBID store the devices that share it?
I will charge the 9930 and see what its pin is.
I think that is likely it.
ON a PC, login to www.bbid.com and see if that device is still listed and you can remove it there.

  • Syncing BB 9900 and Playbook with Laptop

    Hi
Both my BlackBerry 9900 and Playbook will no longer sync with my Desktop Software. They both used to do so but the bottom right hand corner of the Desktop Software displays as 'disconnected' even though if I use Windows Explorer I can locate each item on the menu with limited access to certain files.
I'm not sure if there is a conflict since upgrading the OS's of each instrument?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated as I need to sync my 'Organizer' (Contacts especially)
    Thanks

  • Blackberry coffee table connection with z10/playbook/gamepad/smart TV/Gateway2/

hey there i was recently looking to buy a coffee table multy touch pc like the microsoft,
then i came accorss some you tuve videos demonstrating how to build one your self
the idea behind it if i understand is miror to reflect, led's, projector, lazers and  a pc mey be more.
but what i found a bit ennoying was the size of the body of the table i beleave it is so big because of the pc in there
long story sort with a blackberry playbook i believe a tabble can be built, since there is an HDMI connection that can be connected to a projector, also looking at bridge connection, a table can be built with conversion capability, either on angle to allow different posture usage, added to that the share over wifi feature to smart tv's would be a great addition, if not. again with an external HDMI plug to the table it can always be plugged to a tv, or projector if needed. in addition to that a game pad will do a successful business.
not to forget the GENUINE BLACKBERRY WIRELESS BLUETOOTH MUSIC GATEWAY 2
With the successful os 10.2 i think this is a perfect project.
    Please advise.
    Sincerely your alpha

  • Woes of the Z10, and now i want to use it as a backup phone for my contacts and data. Can I?

Ok, this has been a real nightmare. I am an extensive user of BB since OS4. Wanted to try the new Z10, so I got myself a spanking new one. With my prior experience in switching devices, it would be a cinch. Transfer device over via blackberry desktop software, change the emails via BIS, and I'm all sorted out.
OMG dear blackberry. You made me jump through so many hoops I felt like a circus dog.
Blacberry desktop doesn't work with the Z10. No one told me. I had to find out the hard way after not being able to detect the phone. wasted half an hour of my life. Downloaded Blackberry link. Transferred my contacts and everything over, couldn't be happier.
Hurrah, thought the nightmare was done. It was just starting.
Micro sim. Not everyone has a microsim cutter lying around. Great. Troop off to the shop. Figured after I get the sim cut, I could also transfer the emails via BIS server. So that's what I did. (oh by the way, having to buy a micro SD card was also a pain in the A but still acceptable). The BIS server detected the change in device so it disabled my emails. No problem. Until the technician told me at the store-sorry-BIS DOESNT WORK WITH Z10. Whaaaaat? Come on blackberry! Now its just normal emails, similar to that of iphone and samsung. Emails were your best feature. Ok, this I can stomach. What I cannot stomach is...blackberrry, you just killed your frequent traveller who needs international roaming. BIS emails and BBM was wonderful. I could get by travelling from country to country on 50mb a month unlimited. Apparently not anymore. I need a full fledged international roaming plan that will cost me an arm and a leg. This is insane.
Finally I had the Z10 working. I manually entered all my emails. ( i have 9 emails. Thank god they are all gmail based, especially for work, if not I would have ripped all my hair out). For the whole 2 hours, I looked at it and hated it. It was hard to use, I had to keep swiping up and to the right, sometimes it wouldn't swipe well, sometimes I couldn't tell if it was swiping or not. Neither did it help that Whatsapp hasn't even been sorted out on the Z10. Whatsapp is my life. My family's on it. My friends are on it. My suppliers and my customers are on it. Oh wait. Z10-well, you can download it from the appworld, but it doesn't install. Thinking it was a problem with the downloads, I kept at it..only to have the technician tell me, "sorry, Whatsapp not working on Z10, too bad"...anyway I made up my mind to go back to the Torch. So thinking it would be as simple as changing the hub ID on the Z10 and then reactivating the Torch. All will be well. Wrong.
I had to run to another tel shop to beg for a spare sim shell so I could stick the micro sim into it and have it back as a normal sim. Another 2 hours of my life later, I realise-changing the hub ID on the Z10 doesn't change anything. It doesn't mean you can just use the original hub Id and all systems are go on the first phone. Changing the hub ID means changing the original one. Argh. This was so frustrating especially when the BIS server refused to switch back to the old device. Ever clicked on detect device 200 times? Well that would be me. Eventually I figured it out. Change back to the old hub ID, security wipe the horrible thing, log in with the original hub ID and reset the device via BIS server. Finally, order is restored.
Which leads me to my question. I am thinking of porting over my contact list and data to the Z10, and using it as another phone in another country. However I want to use a different Id from my Torch since it is considered a different device but with the same data. Will blackberry link allow me to do this, or will it only switch the data provided the hub ID is the same?
Blackberry, hand over heart, I'll use the Torch till it dies ( I just changed out the nav pad cause it was completely worn out and would act wonky in sunlight- I call it the blackberry vampire version) and after that I'm off to another smart phone platform. You've made my life miserable. It was great while it lasted, but I'm going to be migrating to another platform eventually. Thanks for the memories.

    Hello,
BlackBerry 10 has always been advertised as a revolutionary change from prior...not an evolution. And you have both now learned the hard way just how detailed that change is. As with so many things, the assumptions made from past experience with BB are not useful for this very significant change. Rather, research done prior to purchase is the most useful activity one can undertake.
For BB10, BIS is not required. Indeed, on some carriers, having BIS on the account actually impedes some services for BB10. BB10 uses a full on-device ActiveSync client for email now. BIS-handled email is gone...as are "hosted" email accounts (though you can get 1-year of forwarding).
Migrating of data from old to new involves many choices before beginning. For example, if you are not afraid of placing your Calendar and Contact data "into the cloud", the Z10 can excellently synchronize that against many different providers (many more than BIS ever could). Done correctly, one can attain full end-to-end OTA synchronization of Calendar/Contact data between Outlook desktop client (and perhaps others, though I've not tested), a Z10, a PlayBook, and more (for me, I've got 2 Outlook client instances, one Z10, one PB, and one Droid...all working beautifully OTA).
Traveling is no more challenging than in the past...your specific device must be able to function on the networks upon which you wish to roam...this is no different from before (e.g., a GSM-only device simply cannot roam on a CDMA network). To compare specifics, I've found this useful:
    http://www.bbin.in/en/2013/03/03/4-types-blackberry-z10-models-fits-better/?utm_campaign=4-types-of-...
There are many other differences...but please try to let go of what was before, for pretty much none of it applies anymore. BB10 is revolutionarily different from before.
    Good luck!

  • I am unable to fully connect to a wireless hot spot with Z10

I am unable to fully connect to a wireless hot spot at work with my z10. We use Cisco access points. Once connected to the AP, users are redirected to https://2.2.2.2/login.html this page allows users to type a username and password and then click a button to gain full Internet access. Using the  z10 to connect to the AP  redirects me to the secure page but then throws the error:
    "Site Identity Not Verifiable"
I then select Expand to continue and am able to add the site as an exception but then I get asecond error:
    "Unknown network error 3RFINA".
I believe it's most likely due to the self-signed cert that the AP is using to secure the http traffic. I use to see this issue on my previous blackberry devices and playbook prior to some recent OS updates, but I am not sure what the exact fix was.  If you try to accept the error and there no prompt to install the cert as seen on my previous devices.
I am able to connect to the same AP with my laptop, Playbook, and Bold 9900, iPod and android devices without issue. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas? Since the AP is not mine I am really looking for a transparent client-side solution.
    Thanks

    Same here...
I guess the problem is invalid certificate in web authlogin page.
Even when I add a excepetion, I still geting this same error 3RFINA.
I remember when I had Android 1.6 I receive similar error, but when upgraded to 2.1 the errors was gone and I was able to authenticate in wifi connection here in that government build.
Now, when I came to BB Z10, I a kind of disapointed to get same error. I now its concern by security and the guilty in that history probably is IT who admin this network for using a invalid certificate (the validation date appears in browser is a kind of funny... says its valid from 2027 to 2039)

  • What is the best strategy to use both Z10 and Q10?

Assume I have both a Z10 and Q10 and I'd like to use it on alternate days, what's the best strategy to do so?
BBM should be fine with the same BlackBerry ID and it can just keep switching between the 2 devices.
If I am using local contacts and calendars, is there an easy switch to keep them sync on both Z10 and Q10?
There are also other information to sync in Password Keeper, Remember...etc.
    Is there a solution?

    Hello,
For calendar and contacts, there is this:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Q10/How-To-OTA-Sync-BB10-and-non-BES-Outlook-Overv...
With that, I actually keep all of the following in sync:
Two instances of Desktop Outlook (2007 and 2010)
    Z10
    PlayBook
    Outlook.com
And, before I decommissioned it, also an Android device. Any device that can synchronize with Outlook.com can use this solution to keep in sync for calendar and contacts. You, of course, need to not use solely local contacts and calendar but instead keep them synchronizing with Outlook.com.
For the other things you mention, I know of no solutions other than backup/restore...but I do not recall if LINK offers the selective method for those.
    Good luck!

Should I be able to synchronize contacts, calandar and notes from my PC or BB Curve 9900 to my Playbook with

All my contacts are on my BB Curve from Outlook, not from an account such as gmail, yahoo or hotmail...
Microsoft Office Outlook can not be directly sync with the PlayBook, what you can do is to install the connector for Outlook.com (ex-Hotmail), and from there you can copy your contact and calendar from Office Outlook to Outlook.com, and then just add this account to your PlayBook and everything will be sync
