Videodrivers in Boot Camp, AoC problem
I'm currently playing Age of Conan (AoC) on my iMac. I'm running on a 100 GB Partition with WinXP SP3. I have the latest version of Bootcamp installed.
Unfortunately, when I start AoC, it tells me my video drivers are not up-to-date and that AoC is prone to crashing with my current drivers. Of course, downloading the current drivers from nVidia didn't help, as they don't work with the iMac. Bummer.
Is there any way of getting original nVidia drivers to work on my iMac, or, if not, does anybody know when Apple will bring out an update to Bootcamp, so I have access to the latest driver? I realize they just published an update, which I thought would fix the problem, but it still persists.
Any help or information on this would be appreciated.

gta 4 steam !If GTA IV believes the system is under specification even though the computer is powerful enough to run the game with higher settings, the following will fix this problem.
This will work if your problem looks like this: "resource usage 230/60" and you can't change any other setting
Just follow the steps:
Step 1: Create a text file named ‘commandline.txt’ (without the " ")
Step 2: Put the following statement inside it:
i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 (with the -)
i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0 (with the -)
Step 3: Open the main GTAIV folder (C/ program files (86)/ rockstar games/ GTA IV) and copy the commandline.txt file into it.
Step 4: locate the file "GTAIV.exe" (in GTA main folder)
Right click the file and select Properties
Under the shortcut tab, you will see an area that says Target
Modify the Target adding the command line after the last quotation mark (just add the statement you added in commandline.txt)
(remember, i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 / i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0)
It should look something like this:
Make sure to add space between " and -"

Just installed windows 7 Ultimate using Boot Camp. Problem is when I choose to boot the windows partition, I get the windows icon on the screen showing that it is starting, but few second after, I get a blank screen. I suspect a driver (screen) issue, since I also installed Parallell using the boot camp partition and that works fine.
Do anybody out there has an ideal of what to do to solve this issue.

Boot camp / partition problems, hard drive damaged?
I was in the middle of using boot camp to allocate 13gb to windows when my macbook pro crashed (the crash screen with the turn off and restart text came up), then when i restarted and ran boot camp it said that my harddrive couldn't be partitioned and to repair it using disk utility. I ran that, but the repair disk is greyed out, the repair permissions doesn't have any effect and when i clicked verify disk it says;
"Disk utility stopped verifying macintosh hd because the following error was encountered filesystem verify or repair failed"

Can you help me out? It's essential i get a number of windows products running.Ok, that seemed to work for part of the problem.
It repaired the disk but whenever I run boot camp it keeps throwing up that crash screen and i have to go through the process of repairing the disk again.
I've ran boot camp with no other programs running in the background or open and without disturbing it while it's allocating the partition and it still crashes.
Any ideas how to get it working?

Boot camp, trackpad problem with windows 8.1
Hello everyone,
I started to use windows 8.1 on my mac pro (13-inch, retina, late 2013)
The problem is that none of the trackpad gestures are working.
My keyboard lighting also does not work. My all drivers are installed and up to date.
How can I fix this problem?There are two things to check.
1. Control Panel -> Boot Camp -> Trackpad tab. Here is an example.
2. You have two different drivers.
Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > Apple Multitouch version 5.0.2.0
- It says Up to date and I've reinstalled the device to fix the problem, it did not work

Do you have both, a Trackpad and a Magic/Mighty Mouse paired to the same Mac?

Boot camp upgrade problem from 3.0 to 3.1

I have a macbook pro 2.66 dual duo with 4 gig of ram and OS X 10.6 latest update. I started Boot Agent and created the parition and then installed windows 7. That would be I think boot camp 3.0
After I boot into Windows 7, which it does work, I downloaded and tried to do the 3.1 upgrade, but I get a stupid error that 3.0 is not installed.
I did put in the OS X disk while in windows 7 and installed Boot Camp there too.
I get this error when I try to run the BootCamp3.132-bit.exe
" The Boot Camp 3.1 Update requires Boot Camp 3.0 or greater. Please install Boot Camp 3.0 before proceeding with the install of the 3.1 Update. "
Any ideas ?It really isnt quite that easy. I have had bootcamp 3.0 running for some time and it has been running ok but when I try to run the upgrade to bootcamp 3.1 I the application crashes and generates a windows error report stating that the BCUpdateInstaller quit working:

Boot camp assistant problems: please help!
ok, so i was running boot camp assistant on my macbook pro (13 inch) and everything was going fine. But when it was partitioning a space for the windows portion it never showed the bootcamp partition icon to the right on my desktop. I didn't know this was a problem until I tried to install the windows on my computer and it would not work because apparently it does not have the ntfs format. I tried it again two more times, both with no applications running. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Macbook Pro XP Boot Camp Audio Problem
I've got a uni body Macbook Pro running XP with boot camp. Everything has been fine for the last 4 or 5 months I've had it. In the last few weeks though, I've been having really annoying audio problems. The only reason I have it XP even installed is for games (Battlefield 2 and Steam). I'd run skype to talk to a buddy and then play the game. Audio was fine, including the mic.
Lately, skype will just shut down out of no where and give me that error message where it asks you to send a report. Also, the audio in Battlefield 2 will just cut out. I'd still be in the game and connected but there would be no audio, except for the game VOIP. Remember things were working fine for months.
First I tried repairing with the Mac disk, then I tried different Real Tek drivers, then I tried uninstalled and reinstalling the game. None of that worked. Finally, I nuked the partition and did a clean install. The first thing I installed was BF2. Guess what. SAME EXACT PROBLEM. Audio cut out about 10 minutes in. In game VOIP was fine but all other audio was gone.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas at ALL? There aren't exactly a bunch of different drivers I can try, and like I said I've already tried reinstalled the drivers from the mac disk. I have no idea what else to do.
tl:dr - new mbp audio worked fine for months, lately audio in games totally cuts out. Tried reinstalled game, drivers, etc, didn't work. Nuked from orbit and did clean bootcamp install of XP. Battlefield 2 has same problem, same with skype. What next?What anti-virus solution are you running in Windows?
Users have experienced crashes and blue screens of death from Norton products. Norton has resolved these issues in their 2009 product line. I would only recommend Norton 2009 products, Kaspersky, and AVG for anti-virus solutions.
Have you formatted your Windows partition as NTFS, or has it been formatted as Fat 32?
Fat 32 will not handle file sizes of 3.5 GB or larger, and, overall, it seems to always cause issues.
Have you tried a SMC reset?

Boot camp partition problems. What to do?

I really need some help ! Im a totally amateur with mac and still pretty new to it and anyways and im pretty noob with these things, so dont go harsh on me.
So I have bootcamp, windows 7 installed in my macbook pro retina 15' and everything was good, untill I tried to resize the partition of the boot camp!!! I had only 4gb available on the windows so I wanted more space. I went to the disk utility and created some space for the windows by shrinking the mac's hard a bit and then switched to windows and tried to do it by a program called '' AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager'' and the machine restarted and everything seem to go well untill almost at the end of the installation the problem occured some kind of an error I dont remember anymore and then I restarted my computer and pressed the alt button and I had still there the windows option the available, but when I enter it nothing happens and then occurs text '' system operating file missing '' ??? So what can I do? Have I lost all of my files that were on windows 7? is there anyway to get them back and if so how? Please guys I really need help, I have very important files that I need ASAP !!! I might lose my job, if I will lose them, so please help me ! I havent done any back up to the windows? Is there anything I could do anymore to get the partition and the files back? I tried to repair the partition from disk utility, but this what happened :

After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.
The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort, built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and the function keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and the Apple Boot Camp system tray item.
OR
If you can’t find the CD, DVD, or external disk with the support software you downloaded, open Boot Camp Assistant and download the software again.
You can quit the assistant after you save the software without creating a new partition.
Insert the CD or DVD or connect the external disk with the Windows support software.
The installer may start automatically. If it doesn’t, do one of the following:
If the support software is on the same USB flash drive as the Windows 7 installer, double-click the setup.exe file in the WindowsSupport directory. -
Please help with my Boot Camp/Windows problems
I need to install windows on to my iMac to continue a course I’m taking at uni. Sadly it’s been a nightmare so far.
I backed up all of my data and opened Boot Camp Assistant and tired to partition a section of my hard drive for windows. However it gave me an error each time I tired. After asking around I was told to buy idefrag and that should fix the problem - it didn’t. I was then told to format the hard disk and reinstall OSX. I did that and Boot Camp was now happy to partition my hard drive.
I insert a copy of legitimate copy of Windows 7 Professional (x64) and clicked the Install Windows button when Boot Camp prompted me to.
Windows installation menus open after a quick restart but quickly tells me it cant see any partitions/drives to install on.
I googled the problem read that the partition should be formatted to NTFS for windows seven to install and that OSX wont do that. I installed a free program called NTFS-3G and that formatted the partition to NTFS.
Windows now saw the drive and went through the installation process. After it has gone through its automated routine it restarts the Mac and takes me to a "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..."
I press Enter and it takes me back to the very first installation menu and restarts the whole thing until it has once again gone through its automated routine and restarted the Mac and told me to press any key.
This happened ever time. During the install I am presented with the options of "Installing Windows" or "repairing windows". When I tried the automatic repair it told me it could find no fault.
So I started again by deleting the partition from within OSX and making a new one and installing windows and restarting but this time remove the windows 7 disk.
All this did was boot the Mac up in OSX. I then restarted the Mac and held down the options key. This presented me with the choice of booting from the Mac HDD or the windows partition. I chose the windows partition and it takes me to a black screen with a flashing line/prompt and does nothing else.
I assumed Windows 7 might not like my Mac for some strange reason so brought a copy of Vista business with SP2 (x86).
I deleting the partition from within OSX and made a new one. I began installing Vista. It told me it could only install on NTFS formatted partitions/drives.
Once again I used NTFS-3G to formatted the partition to NTFS and relaunced vista.
It installed fine and restarted itself. Once again it took me back to the first installation screen just as windows 7 did. I tried restarting without the disk (hold options again) and it took me back to the black screen with the flashing line and sat there forever.
I restarted the Mac with the OSX 10.6.1 install disk in the drive and it booted up ignoring the disk. I launched the disk from desk top and looked through the install options hoping to find some drivers or extra installs for boot camp/windows. I couldn’t see anything.
I don’t know what else to try.

But I have really only one question:
Was this an electronic school download edition? they offer students Windows 7 Pro. If this was an electronic version from school, fine, but it has to be burned at *reduced 2x speed* or it won't work, and can have various (and different for everyone) problems, BUT: it is pretty well known and semi "documented."
You do NOT need NTFS driver. That is totally wrong.
Sorry you bought Vista, I used it but once Windows 7 went Beta and then RC I've used 7 and never looked back (what Vista should/could have been but was not, even with SP2). -
Boot Camp Expiration Problem Partition Removal!
I want very badly to remove my windows partition. I have already deleted windows off of my 30gb partition but cannot figure out how to remove the partition itself to free up extra harddrive space. I have tried setting the "time" back on my system to before sept 30 2007 and when i do that it says that I need to use bootcamp assistant 2.0. But I dont have the ability to upgrade to that because I cant find my Mac leopard install cd. I want to remove this partition without having to use boot camp again...I have a 500gb external that I have just backed up my entire system with using SuperDuper. If I boot from my external and try to "format" my original drive will this remove the partition? After this I would obviously back up the external to the original and it should work right? Also, how do i completely wipe the original drive....just use disk utility????ANY help would be awesome! Thanks!!!!!
You should be fine with format/initialize or erase of the entire hard drive (top level name, something like vendor name WDxxxx or SExxxx for Western Digital etc).
Of course testing your superduper backup and restore, and that you can boot and run from it properly is step #1.
Else, $29 will buy Snow Leopard DVD. -
White Screen of Death at Startup - Boot Camp Based Problem
I recently received my Intel-based 20" iMac yesterday and this morning I set it up and transfered all of my files from my old Windows XP computer successfully. I then played around with the iLife suite and a few other programs and decided I should probably run Boot Camp and set up Windows for a few Windows-based programs I need and some games that are Windows only.
I started to look up Boot Camp on the Apple website, then realized iMacs that came with Leapord pre-installed should already have Boot Camp on them. I searched in Spotlight for "Boot camp" and found the "Boot Camp Assistant." I thought that was close enough, so I started the application up.
First, it told me I needed to partition my hard drive and create a space for Windows. I figured I would have only a few esential programs on it, so I opted for a partion of about 10-12 GB if I remember correctly. The installer then told me to insert my Windows disc and I then put in my Windows XP SP1 installation CD. It read it, shutdown, then booted back up into what I recognized as the Windows setup screen.
It went through the normal setup steps, until it got to a point where it asked what partition I should install Windows on. There was only one partition listed, so obviously I chose that one, but what was weird was the partition said it was over 100,000 MB, which is not the 10 GB I told it to partition. I got scared when it told me it would have to format the partition since it wasn't suitable for a Windows installation yet. I figured it wouldn't hurt to recheck the amount I partitioned, so I quit out of the Windows installer.
Next, my Mac restarted and went to the infamous white screen of death.
I have tried basically every single way to fix this.
I tried:
Alt - Option - PR (Reset the PRam) And waited for both 2, 3, 4, and 5 dings

Put in the Mac OS X disc and booted up holding:

None of these worked. Sorry if my key abbreviations are off, by the way, because I'm writing this on a Windows laptop and I haven't gotten the keys down for Macs yet.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Apple call support is curretly closed, at least in my timezone. I'll probably try calling them tomorrow, but mostly I'm afraid of having to get a whole new harddrive and/or iMac. I haven't backed up my data anywhere yet (this is just my first day with the Mac) so if I lose the data, there goes upwards of a few thousand dollars in music and other data expenses.
Thanks in advance for ideas, I'll try anything you throw at me now, as long it doesn't void the warranty or involve formatting my hard drive. (Though if you know a way to format my hard drive AND save my data, that would be even better)All the data that you transfered to the iMac should still be on the PC which originally contained the content. Transferring to the Mac is in reality only copying.
A Boot Camp Windows installation requires Windows SP2 only;
To use Boot Camp, you need:
1. An Intel-based Macintosh computer with a built-in or USB keyboard and a built-in trackpad or USB mouse.
2. Mac OS X 10.5 or later
3. The latest firmware updates available for your Intel-based Mac.
4. At least 10 GB of free space on your startup disk (single partition).
5. A full, single-disc version of Windows Vista, Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later. Boot Camp does not include Windows. You must provide your own properly licensed installation disc.
Important: A Windows XP installation disc must include Service Pack 2 (SP2). You cannot install an earlier version of Windows and upgrade to Windows XP, nor install an earlier version of Windows XP and update it to SP2.
6. Boot Camp Assistant (find it installed in /Applications/Utilities/ on Leopard).

New gen Mac Mini: Boot Camp install problems
I've got a new version Mac Mini that was just released, 4GB RAM, 250GB hard drive.
Fired up Boot Camp, and pressed the button offering a 32GB Windows partition.
It rebooted into my OEM XP Pro SP2 CD, and installed OK (as in it loaded the files).
The Mini then reboots, and dies with these 3 lines:
*Press any key to boot from CD.....*
*Disk error*
*Press any key to restart*
BTW, pressing any key does NOT restart anything. I have to use the power button to down it.
I popped out the XP boot CD by holding down the mouse, and then downed the system again.
Then I held down the Option key, which offers me the boot menu, and I selected Windows.
It then dies again with the bottom 2 lines.
I've tried removing the partition, and asking Boot Camp to make a 30GB partition.
Same end results (it takes awhile obviously to get to the failure).
Also tried a brand-new XP Pro SP3 install CD. Same results.

I figured it out last night, and you are correct, the default Windows install method will NOT work.
When XP first boots, it actually offers 5 choices, and the default is "Use this filesystem as-is without formatting". It will happily install, but that default choice does not write the MBR (master boot record) onto the disk. When you reboot again, the MBR isn't there, and the firmware halts. One little 512-byte sector keeps it from working.
Really, Apple should write a MBR onto that partition during the Boot Camp process, it wouldn't be all that much extra trouble.

Boot camp priority problem on start-up
Hi,
I am using late 2012 macbook pro with i7 2.9 Ghz. but not retina display. Operating system is 10.8.2.
I needed to use windows 7, so I decided to boot camp my macbook.
I am successful to install win7, everything works correctly.
But when I shut down or restart my macbook it is automatically opening with windows.
When I choose the start-up disk from system preferences, There is nothing to choose, empty.
So everytime I have to open my mac with pressing the option key, it makes me crazy.
I verify and repair both disks from disk utility, but nothing has changed.
Do you guys, any suggestions to give?

BSOD every 20 minutes running windows XP in boot camp partition
Has anyone else had this problem? Everything was running fine for a couple of months on my new mac OS X until around the time I installed the recommended updater to Boot Camp 2.1, then Windows XP started crashing every 20 minutes exactly, BCCode : 1000007f. One line of discussion suggests it's a boot camp problem but uninstalling the update hasn't helped. Others seemed to think it might be a graphics card incompatibility. I've now been advised that it's a Norton 2008 problem and I should uninstall that although I haven't tried yet. But the every 20 minutes must be some clue to what's going on. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Axel. I removed Norton 2008 with the uninstall tool and hey presto no more BSODs so far (24 hours). I've also replaced Norton with Kaspersky. I guess this is really a Norton/Boot Camp compatibility problem but it's weird that Norton ran without problems on my system for five months until I installed the Boot Camp 2.1 updater. Having said that, I now see that there are a couple of discussions on this in the Boot Camp > Installation and Storage topic list ...
In one of these, Mark Davidson3 resolved the problem by completely uninstalling/reinstalling his Boot Camp partition and is now running Norton again with no problem but I wonder if that's because he must have uninstalled/reinstalled Norton in the process. Like me, the crashes had started for him only after he installed the Boot Camp 2.1 updater. Presumably Norton would run again on my system now too if I reinstalled it.
Has anyone out there talked to the Norton/Boot Camp people about this?
