Videos bought on iPhone won't sync to computer and have now been deleted
I bought 3 videos on my iPhone and when I synced it to the computer, they don't appear in my iTunes and now they've been deleted from my iPhone - how do I get them back?
Droid Alex,
Happy New Year to you as well!
In regards to your post, are you saying you don't want your Birthdays calendar from iCal to appear on your iPhone? Is the date incorrect in iCal, the iPhone, or both?
The Birthday entry is synced from your Address Book application, if the calendar is listed under "Subscriptions". You may want to verify that the date is correct in Address Book, which in turn should update iCal. If you don't want birthdays to sync to the iPhone, you can choose to sync selected calendars under the Info sync tab, and just uncheck Birthdays.
For any discrepancies in date or time the iPhone, you want to make sure Time Zone Support is enabled under Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

I have an iPhone 4S,7.1.1, and my MacBook Pro is still running 10.6.8, waiting to update to Mavericks as soon as I have some down time. My phone won't sync with my computer. I am getting an error message (-50). ITunes is also asking me if I want to sync my Podcasts, etc. with my computer when I first open it. I am assuming part of the issue is that I have 2 Apple ID's. One for my computer (this one), and another for my phone and iPad. Can I merge these identities? It this my problem or is there an incompatability between 10.6.8 and the new 7.1.1 OS on my phone?
Hey Janice Lucoff,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you are experiencing issues backing up your iPhone 4s in iTunes, which is causing issues finishing the sync of your device. The following resource should help resolve your issue, as it refers to the exact error message you described:

IPhone won't sync with computer.
Hello!
I've had my 3GS since launch and haven't experienced any problems with it yet. A few days ago, out of nowhere, my iPhone stopped syncing with my computer. When I plug the USB into the iPhone it rings, and shows that it's charging, but it doesn't sync in iTunes and iPhoto doesn't auto start like it used to.
I updated iTunes and OSX, but I still can't get my device to recognize!
Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If set to launch automatically when any digital camera is connected, iPhoto will launch automatically when the iPhone is connected only if there are photos and/or video available in the iPhone's camera roll.
Does iPhoto recognize your iPhone when manually launching iPhoto after your iPhone is connected?
Try downloading and re-installing the current iTunes version. No need to uninstall iTunes first before doing so.

Why won't my iPhone sync with my computer? When I hook the phone up to iTunes I get a message that reads: iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup could not be saved on the computer. This never happened before.

After upgrading to iOS 5, my iPhone won't sync to iTunes and has 3 GB or "other" data
After none of my music would play yesteday, and I wasn't able to sync my phone, I decided to restore my phone and see if that helped. All it did, was wipe everything except for that 3 GB or "other" data that I don't understand. And now, I can't do anything because I can't sync my phone to iTunes, or get all of my info from iCloud.
I am having this same issue.

i got my new iphone a week ago. i started using it straight away, before i knew about icloud and that i could sync all my contacts, etc to the new phone. i then turned on icloud for contacts - this worked fine. today i tried putting my music onto my phone. i clicked 'recognise a B's iphone' in itunes - this has synced music and apps. the only problem is that i have lost all my text messages from the last week. the phone is showing old messages from december 2012 only! can i delete these and get my recent messages back??
thanks.
balerina. You did more than sync the new iPhone with iTunes since syncing with iTunes does not include text messages.
The first time a new iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or set up the device as a new iPhone.
The former replaces all data on the iPhone that is included with the selected backup for the other iPhone or iOS device. The latter does not.
If a backup for your new iPhone was not created with iCloud or if created and has been updated since the backup was transferred from the other iPhone or iOS device, the previous data on the new iPhone is gone. -

Gift cards are only valid in their country of issue - so if you have a Belgian gift card, you will need a Belgian iTunes account in order to use it.

iPhone won't sync with iTunes and It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do. I tried everything!
I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

IPhone won't sync when plugged in...
After upgrading to iTunes 9, my iPhone won't sync when I plug it it in. When I connect it, iTunes opens automatically and the phone/application will say it's syncing, but then after a couple of seconds it just stops and nothing has changed on the phone or my music library. I ran the syncing diagnostics test and it didn't detect any errors... Here's the message I got from it:

Any ideas what could be going on and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance for any help!We have 2 iPhones and two computers, one Mac and a PC. We recently downloaded iTunes v9 and now iTunes cannot “see” either of our phones on either computer. I have contacted Apple by phone and spent over an hour trying to resolve this connection problem. The Apple rep suggested that the issue might be in the “dock” and recommended I take the phones to iPnone supplier. Incidentally I can charge the phones using the “dock” which suggests that the “dock” is not the issue.
The iPhone supplier connected one one phone to his Mac computer and it immediately connected to and “saw” the phone. Interestingly, the supplier was only running iTunes v8. The supplier suggested there was a “patch” for iPhone to operate with itunes v9. Is this correct and if so how do I get it.
So my problem is that I cannot ever get to the stage of "syncing".
I have also noted on several “chat” sites people have had problems with iPhone and iTunes v9 connectivity.
Help!!!! please!!! -
Yet another 'iPhone won't sync' thread
As the title says, my iPhone won't sync selected playlists from the iTunes library. It used to work just fine and then it stopped working. It goes through the syncing routine, but never shows the "Copying 1 of 1145: Song Name" that you expect to see when syncing. It finishes without error, but when I check the phone, there is still no new music on it. Syncing 'All Songs and Playlists' does seem to work. But I need Selected Playlists. Phone is 3.0.1, itunes is 8.2.1.
What I have tried:
Restoring phone
Updated iTunes today
Force quit iTunes trick
All combinations of rebooting
any ideas?Reset sync history. On a mac open isync then choose preferences and reset sync history. Be sure to back up your iPhone also before this happens. Are you sure that you don't have manually manage music and video checked underneath the options page when you first open iTunes? This could also possibly hinder your ability to sync over music.

Iphone won't sync with new installation of iTunes
I had to reinstall iTunes in a new laptop, and then copied my music library-file from the old iTunes-installation. Now the iPhone won't sync the music files. For some of the music I've bought in iTunes it says "You have to copy this music manually", but there is no such option in iTunes, as far as I can see. And by the way, afterinstalling 5.0.1 my contact-information is trippled, or every name and phone etc. is listed three times.
Try uninstalling then reinstalling iTunes. See the iTunes support page (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/) on how to do this.

IPhone won't sync after upgrading to Leopard
My iPhone won't sync, or even show up in iTunes, after upgrading to Leopard. I've tried restarting my Macbook Pro, trying different USB slots, closing and reopening iTunes, everything. Has anyone else had this problem??
I've tried everything apple suggests:
1. The iPhone battery might need to be recharged. For information about charging iPhone, see "Charging the Battery" in the iPhone User's Guide.
2. If that doesn't work, disconnect other USB devices from your computer and connect iPhone to a different USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard).
3. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: If you enter the PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to contact your carrier for a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable your SIM card again.
4. If that doesn't work, restart your computer and reconnect iPhone to your computer.
5. If that doesn't work, download and install (or reinstall) the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.You might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service. Follow the link below for info on how to do this.

Ever since updating to new OS, my iphone won't sync to itunes. When I plug in the phone to the PC, dialog box says I need to update itunes to 10.6.3 or later. I did that update, but still get the same error message.
Can anyone offer suggestions?
Thanks!Since it told me to update, I updated to 10.7.
Then when I plugged in the phone again, it gave the same message that I need to update itunes.
