Videos converted to ipod format have no sound

I just got a new nano and I have some videos I'd like to synch to it. But when I have iTunes convert them to ipod format I lose the sound. How do I fix this??

I can't make a good recommendation since I avoid Windows like the plague.
As a Mac user, I can only relay info that I have read on these forums.
I believe users have had mixed results with Videora iPod Converter. Some people rave about it, some people hate it.
I'm not too sure what else is out there.
I'm sure a Windows user will post here soon with some other recommendations.
EDIT: Just noticed that MPEG Streamclip has a Windows version now. You might want to check that out.

As the person before me said, you will need a third party converter for your video. I had the same problem when I got my ipod with the audio not playing or only audio etc.
I would recommend the Super converter from www.erightsoft.com
when converting to ipod format remember to have it set to video coded as mpeg4, otherwise it dosen't work.
    Hope this helps

Since nobody here can possibly know what is included in "majority suggestions posted for this problem" then your next step would be a trip to an Apple Store and ask for their help.

  • Muxed Video Files, how to unmux and convert to iPod format?

    Hi,
I recently learned that all my music video files are muxed. I just bought Quicktime Pro learning from a support rep. that that program will do the job. Wrong, and a waste of 30.00, I think. I was wondering if there was anyway to unmux these files so i can convert them to an iPod format using Quicktime Pro? Any help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

No, QuickTime Pro won't work with muxed files. You'll have to use something like Videora to convert them to iPod format.

  • Quicktime videos converted to ipod

I have a whole bunch of videos in quicktime that I converted to be able to play on my ipod (thanks to apples tutorial!)... I converted it put it on my ipod and IT WORKS! EXCEPT I have no SOUND? I don't understand what I did wrong/right and why the video plays but with out the sound? Please advise.

I tend to think Forty-Two is the most "well-rounded" application for the beginner since it handles both DVD and most common file formats (including, of course, "muxed" MPEG). Don't think it yet has a "Pro" feel to it but do like it as a very "functional" utility despite a few current "quirks." (You can try the demo for free.) Podner certainly has a more polished look to it, handles some "less common for Mac" PC formats (but not the "muxed" MPEGs). If, however, you are primarily interested in DVD conversion, HandBrake has the advantage of not having to rip/extract first. (Although it runs much faster if you extract files to HD -- probably due to increased access speeds.) But it too still has a few problems when it comes to correctly identifying individual titles on "episode" type DVDs. Export2QT and MPEG2 Works are more geared to advanced users and users wanting access to the conversion of "exotic" formats such as VRO, Hitachi VRO, ReplayTV, TiVo, ReplayTVm, etc. And in any case, it requires QTime Pro and the MPEG2 component to be fully operational. (This is not unusual as many of the other programs rely on free third party apps being installed on your platform either manually or as part of the application's own installation.
Is that enough to ponder for now?

  • (HELP) video converted to ipod but without sond!!

I have one Ipod Video 30g I converted one video to the Ipod but when I opened the file it was without sound and is happening with all the videos that I have, the image is OK but no sound at all!!
    someone can help me?

Now you know why i ask,
    windows or OSX,
It will only access OSX on a Apple Mac i suppose,
    with the integration of iTunes.
Therefore save all that's on your iPod first if it important,
then Re-format iPod using disk utility,
    up-plug iPod, then reconnect iPod
then it should come up in iTunes, asking bla, bla-bla,
Follow the instruction, from there all should be fine!
    Have fun,

  • Not converting to ipod format

Hi, have read all the discussions relating to reformatting videos. I have .mov file, tried to convert via Videora and PSPware and both have failed. We have tried to eliminate all possibilities, but cant tell why we can't transfer to ipod even just as .mov file. Is this an issue with the type of file or is there something I should be doing to transfer to ipod?

    Have you seen this, it might help you;

  • Real Media .rm files Can they convert to ipod format somehow?

I have several .rm (real media) files that I cannot seem to get converted into an IPOD format with any software I have tried.
Any suggestions or am I just wasting money downloaded software that says it can conver .rm but doesn't?
    Please can anyone help!!!

Nope, not frustrated at all by the "media limitations" of the iPod.
I actually read the supporting media, website description, specs of the device.
I knew in advance it would not support windows media or real media(both bad and in real medias case all but dead).
Apple supported industry standardized, open non-proprietary codecs-just like they do in quicktime.

  • TS1382 Have an ipod classic, have no sound. Whats wrong?

The videos will play but there is no sound.

    Try restarting if that doesn't work then try self diagnosis;
To restart, press and hold the centre button and the menu button that is at the top of the click wheel. Press and hold both of these utill the apple logo appears.
When the iPod has reset it's self try again to get sound.
    To run diagnostics
Follow the restart steps, when you get to the screen with the apple logo press and hold the centre button and the track back button at the left of the click wheel. When a black screen with writing appear let go.
The following screen may look a but scary but scroll down to the audio option and go through the tests to see if it recognises head phones and see if it can produce audio. When finished repeat the restart steps to get back to normal iPod functionality

  • No sound after converting to ipod format with quicktime

quicktime plays the unconverted file with sound just fine. after converting the video is fine but no sound. any help?

QT will not export sound from mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files. Check you video before converting to see what the format really is. Open the video in the Player and use MovieInfo in the Window menu to check the format.
This freeware may help if they are mpeg files:

  • Videos converted to iPod with itunes lack audio component

I have a 4 GB nano and have downloaded the instruction manual. One section describes how to use iTunes convert movies to a format acceptable to the nano.
When I follow this method, the converted video has no soundtrack.
Has anyone else tried converting movies with sound?

Yeah I have had trouble to. There is a very good converter for that though, that will convert with audio.
It is called iSquint. Just google iSquint and it will be the first thing on the list. Or you can go to www.isquint.org.

  • Converting to ipod format takes forever..?

converting downloaded .avi movies to mpg4 or h264 for my ipod video seems to take hous and hours for films of less than 1 hour length.
is this normal? I work on an imac G5, so that can't be it.
I use quicktime pro 7 to do this
    annyone have an answer?
    thanks

The slow encoding of H264 has been noted many times in this group. You could try making a mpeg-4 video instead of H264 if you are willing to settle with a little less quality or somewhat larger files. These settings for the iPod have been posted a number of times:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320x240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480x480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats<<

  • HT2729 Use videos converted for iPod Nano 5G for iPod Touch 4G?

I have an iTunes library full of videos that work with my iPod Nano 5th generation. I was thinking if they would work with an iPod Touch 4th generation, which I have researched and seems that it would not need any converting, but what about the difference in screen size?

Never mind I feel like an idiot posting that.
