Videos dont run smoothly.

Hi, ever since I bought my new computer I havent been able to play videos through itunes smoothly. It runs very choppy as though it is streaming with 56k. And sometimes it just freezes. Though it runs perfectly on my ipod. Im currently running vista ultimate with 2gb of ram. A friend told me that it could be my ram or my virtual memory thats causing the problem. I know for sure that I dont have a virus. Can anyone help me?

First, welcome to the iTunes discussion forum! [Edit: almost left this out!]
Have you checked how much CPU iTunes uses when playing videos? On my system 2.6GHz P4 system, iTunes uses 95%+ of the CPU to play videos. MyDVD only uses about 40% to 50% to play movies and I rarely get video stuttering. But is constant with iTunes. I can even play videos outside of iTunes off a network drive and still get smooth video.
Going into QuickTime Properties -> Advanced tab and disable Direct 3D helps a little. I found killing the process RoxioWatch.exe helps a lot but the video is still not smooth.
The odd thing is that you can play an iTunes video from an USB 2.0 flash drive and it plays smoothly. Go figure! Many folks complain about bad video performance when the iTunes library is on SATA or network drives.
I don't know what iTunes is doing to require so much CPU to do video. I suspect that this is because QuickTime does not use Video Overlay like MyDVD, Windows Media Player, and most other video media players do. QT and iTunes just don't make efficient use of resources on MS Windows platform.
Despite that, I still like iTunes and use it as my main media player.
Enjoy life!

Sounds like they are buffering because your internet speed is way to slow.
To check your internet speed, go to: > Speakeasy Speed Test
or > Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Plus you can also check your internet speed using the Activity Monitor, which is in your Utilities Folder.

  • Videos dont run

All types of You Tube videos found on the web fail to run. An error message with "An error ocurred, please try again later" keeps showing. Internet connection works, and I tried running same videos using Chrome and they did run, so its definitely something specifically with Safari.
    Any comments?
    Thanks,
    Fernando

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

  • HD video does not run smoothly in Premiere Elements 7

I have been using Premiere Elements 7 to edit short videos for a couple years now with my standard definition camcorder. I recently bought an HD camcorder. It is impossible to edit these videos in the timeline as they don't run smoothly at all. The raw videos themselves play perfectly but not in Premiere. How can I fix this? Is there a way to lower the quality of the videos temporarily in the timeline just so I can edit them with the finished product being in HD?Will upgrading to Elements 10 fix the problem?

My 3 hard drives are configured as...
    1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320Gig data for Win7 swap file and video project files
When I create a project on #2 drive, the various work files follow,
so my boot drive is not used for the media cache folder and files

You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • Adobe connect video running smooth but mine not

    Hello everybody,
I was trying to publish and receive H.264 video using AMS 5 developer version from flex code using netconnection and netstreams. I am trying to send a 200 kilobits/sec of video.
    1) The video being received at the other end is not smooth. Even a small drop in the bandwidth at publisher or receiver side produces jerks in the video and audio gets broken as well.
    2) Then I compared it with Adobe connects video it worked smoothly for the same scenario. So i decided to dive deep.
    3) The packet information says that there were some major differences in my video packet and adobe connect's video packet
    Property
    My video packet info
    Adobe Video paket info
    Flags
    Flags: 0x018(PSH, ACK)
    Flags: 0x010(ACK)

    Set
    Not Set
    Window size value
    1189
    229
    Scaling factor
    64
    -1
Can anyone explain me the differences and guide me about these attributes and how to change them in my application so that i can use this beautiful technology by adobe optimally.
    Regards,
    Sahil.

I am happy to help but I still have the problem of not connect when addin installed. I need the addin very much.
    Still waiting for help.
    Update:
Tried now at home with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. A computer that havn't seen Connect pro in it's life. Fresh install of the addin on an already installed flash player 10.0.45.2. More and more I start to think it is related to the flash player version
    Update 2:
After digging very deep into what exactly is going on when the addin is initializing, using a process viewer and the Windows Firewall activity log, I saw that when the addin tries to connect to Adobe, it automatically requests port 443 (SSL Connection). I have a hosted account and the option "Require SSL connection" is disabled. Nevertheless, automatically when connecting to my admin page, it switches the connection to SSL (instead of http://.... it has https://....). It doesn't even try to run a 1935 port connection and then SSL. Goes directly to SSL.
The solution was of course to remove the "s" from https and it worked. 2 days of searching came up to this one letter. Today I am going to call support and report this thing.
Why does it block SSL connection on my PC, I have no idea. It worked perfectly last week.
I have not installed anything new on my PC, besides updating to the newer flash player on Friday.

  • HD videos don´t run smooth

I am very disappointed to see that HD videos don´t run smooth.
Size is 1280x544 so I expect it to run OK but it´s not the case: it freezes for a second every now and then. Maybe is it the bit rate that is too high. Then what would be the limit?

HD video plays very smooth on mine. I can even play a full 1080p video very smoothly. It really depends on the codec of the video. For example, any 1080p video and trailers downloaded from sony's playstation network run great without and choppy frame, lag, or problems.

  • IDVD output video is not running smooth

Hello, I am having a problem with IDVD.
When I burn or just safe the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on the HDD, the result is bad.
Any video on the DVD is not running smooth, like when it is played on the computer.
I have a MBP with a. 2.2 core duo, and it should have enough horsepowers for the task.
The DVD-menu is running as it should, but the video is bad, though the original quality is fine.
    What can I do?
    Bjørn Sørensen

The settings are PAL, as it is for European dvd-players, and the problem seems to be that Imovie exports m4v files, which iDVD needs to convert "do not know why?" into mp4 or something similar, this causes the video to run improperly, "lacking" where it was supposed to run smooth. I do nok know what to do about this. Visual hub does the exact same thing to the video.

  • PPro CC, some video frames do not run smoothly

I am running Window 7 and using a Canon 5D II to run short movie clips.  I have NVIDIA card and when creating a video some of the frames (clips) do not run smoothly.  I am very new to Premiere Pro so I need simple explanation of what could be wrong.  Thank you for helping me!!

    Hi there,
why should someone tell you what to do? You already posted the resolution (maybe without knowing it)
    > Wenn I install windows clean again and then play this video then he wil work properly, after i install word, exel,my printer, virusdriver and so on, then the video will not work anymore smootly.
So, if you install applications, then usually the system performances drops, due to freshly installed services, tools in the systemtray or background applications which all is coming with that stuff
    (word,exel,my printer,virusdriver) you mentioned.
So in my honest opinion, I suggest you reinstalling your system, and then do the following:
install at first ONE application (e.g. office) and try to play your video. Should the video run smoothly then continue installing the next software (like anti-virus) and check it again.
If the video runs smoothly after every new installed software, continue installing the next one.
But if you recognize, that the video begins running with stuttering and slower speed, then the last application youve installed is the software which uses too much system resources.
If you find out which application causes the video running not so smoothly, then try to find an alternative software which does not need so much system-power from your computer.

  • Is there a way to make PP recognize all info in the timeline, so that everything runs smoothly?

Rendering doesnt cut it. Currently I'm working with 4 seperate files, ranging from 500mb to 3gb (MP4), and they lag to such an extend I can't get the editing done.
I've already posted my aging system on here earlier:
    3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (64-bit) - 16gb 1067 MHz RA
I was adviced to get a second driver. I haven't done this, because it'd be excessive and depressive to connect it to this system . I would rather get a stronger machine when I'm done working on the project I'm working on now and throw this machine in the garbage.
Anyway the question I'd like to get answered: Is there anything I can do that will make the 4 files easy to work with, instantly? Or something simple I should acquire. The rest of my project has been running smoothly.
    Thanks, open for any suggestion.

  • Flash Player 9 Not Running Smoothly

My problem is I have recently installed Macromedia Flash
Player 9.0.16.0 and as soon as I attempt to play a streaming video,
the Flash Player begins to pause for a few seconds before
proceeding with the video. These interruptions continue every 5-10
    seconds throughout the video play.
I believe these pauses may be caused by insuffient memory
being assigned to the browser and so it has to intermittently load
more data into memory before the video can continue. I have
presumed that the video is fully loaded before Macromedia Flash
Player begins to display the picture...but maybe not.
Please advise on how I can assure that the streaming video is
fully loaded so that it will run smoothly without pausing.
I utilize Netscape, Internet Explorer or Safari to access
internet. I have tried all three browsers in attempting to run the
streaming video without interrruption and all three produce the
    same jagged result.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

It might be helpful to uninstall, then reinstall Flash.
Go here to get the latest version of Flash. Before you install the new plug-in, uninstall the older one. You can do this with this Adobe Uninstaller.
When the uninstall/reinstall is complete, Safari automatically opens to the Adobe Flash page confirming the plug-in was correctly installed.
Quit Safari and "repair permissions" using Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
