Videos for mac

i have a attachment with wmv format (windows media Video) can i view this videos in mac or what program of mac can i use?

Unless you're able to find an early version of "Flip4Mac" that's OS 8.6-compatible, you'll need to upgrade your iMac to 10.3.9 and QuickTime 6.5 or newer to run the current version. For now, you can download/install Windows Media Player 7.1 for Mac. In addition to playing .wmv files saved to your hard drive, it will install a browser plug-in, so that .wmv content can be viewed in your browser window. With only 32 MBs of installed memory, you really need to add more, because Virtual Memory is a slower alternative and should be considered a temporary measure, when set to 2x the amount of installed memory (as you have it). If you're running the (now-discontinued) final release (v. 5.1.7) of Internet Explorer for pre-OS X Macs, it needs at least 20-25 MBs of memory assigned to it, to run smoothly. This memory allocation is completely separate from your iMac's system's memory requirements. Until you have more physical memory installed, you may experience system freezes running OS 8.6.

How pinnacle can be used for streaming video for mac app?

    Hi naturalfemale,
As mentioned in the referring article, closed captioning content has to be specifically added/enabled to a video for closed captioning to function:
    Additional Information
Not all videos include caption or subtitle tracks. Check the documentation for the video you are using to see if it includes these features.
OS X: Using captioning features in Mavericks

At the moment, I do not believe there is an option for universal captioning.

  • Is there free software I can use to convert mts videos for Mac

My son gave  me three movies he took on a Canon Vixia that are in mts format. I can only open them in VLC, but I want to put them online and usually use Quicktime to make the files smaller for the web. These files won't open in Quictime or in iPhoto or iMovie or iTunes. I don't want to buy software, because I just need it for these particular movies - I downloaded two kinds of software that worked fine but put a large company logo on the upper left of the movie after it was converted if one wanted to use it free. Can anyone recommend a way that I can make these files compatible so I can upload them to the web?
Alternatively, is there a reliable, inexpensive bit of software I could download so I can process these films?  I'm not averse to paying, but will only use this software once, probably.  Thanks for your help.

    Hi Barbara,
Not aware of a free converter, but there are free players...
    http://www.applemacvideo.com/howtoconvert/mts-converter-for-mac.html
    And a trial converter there.

  • Jabber Video for Mac 4.6 does not find iSight camera

    Hello.
I recent purchased a new Mcbook Air (MacBoorAir6,2) and was hoping to use the new built in HD camera with Jabber Video. Except JV doesnt seem to find the camera in prferences. I assume that since this MBA has only been out for a week that it's just a matter of Cisco updating the JV client to support the camera? Or is there something I need to do to the OS so JV will be able to use the camera?

Yes, version 4.7 solves this issue. Download here:

  • How can change my .AVI videos for Mac ?

I bought a All Weather Timing Camcorder. The videoformat is .AVI and it was not possible to download the videos to my iMovie apps, because of the wrong format. Is it possible to converse the format????

Quicktime Pro is available from Apple for 29.99, if i recall correctly. For simple drag and drop conversions without all the pro features from Quicktime, there is an App on the App store called Smart Converter Pro that I use to convert for iTunes, for AppleTV, or ipod, iphones. it has a very elegant and simple interface, and is very reasonable in cost. Smart converter also has a free app, but the 9.99 is more than worth it to upgrade to Pro.

  • I need to know the best, safest way to convert video for Mac.  I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.

I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.  This is for a Christmas present!  Help.

I don't think you need to use a ripper program to read a home movie DVD. Those are primarily for copy-protected commercial DVDs, right?
I think you just need to transcode the DVD files using a utility like Handbrake, which is free and fast.

  • Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac

After talking with a bunch of salesmen (considering getting a DvD writer), I took the advice of someone in the Apple Store and bought a Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac to copy my laserdiscs. It was $100 before tax, and didn't do stuff I don't plan on doing anyway. I did spend another $25 to get an S-video cable.
I installed the software and connected it up to my LD. I started capturing the movie, and selected S-Video (although in the small window they showed, I didn't see any difference between that and video out. I selected a max time from a limited selection, and let it record.
After a while, I went downstairs and saw that the audio and video were not synchronized at all. I let it continue.
After a while I came down again, and the movie was finished, so I stopped it. I found the MP4 - it was in the iTunes movie directory, and played it in iTunes. I fast-forwarded it to near the end, the voice and video were way off-set.
I haven't tried burning this yet.
Quicktime player doesn't think this is a valid movie file. I selected "open with" and "other" and the recommended applications had iMovie greyed out.
Why in the world would the audio and video record at different speeds?
Do I have to buy software to edit the movie down to the correct size?
    My Mac has:
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version: 1.21f4
I noticed the Pinacle Video Capture program was still running, so I tried to quit it, and got a window asking for my administrator ID and passsword to allow Pinnacle Video Capture to make changes. Why?

The audio drifted out of sync because the Dazzle doesn't support locked audio. For short videos (say, under 10 minutes) this won't be very noticeable but when you capture longer videos it becomes progressively worse over time.
What do you want to do with your Laserdisk copies? Watch them on your iPod? Edit and/or burn to DVD?
A device like the Canopus ADVC-110 will do the video/audio conversion properly, keeping the audio and video in sync regardless of the length of your video. It converts to DV, not to MP4, and you would use it with iMovie or Final Cut (not iTunes). However you can export your video from iMovie or Final Cut to iPod/AppleTV formats.
The Dazzle device will not work directly with iMovie or Final Cut.
ps. If all you really want to do is transfer your Laserdisc videos to DVDs, it will be a whole lot faster & simpler to get a DVD player/recorder that has analog inputs and record directly to DVDs. There are many brands & models to choose from and many good ones are as inexpensive as the $100 you spent on the Pinnacle converter.

  • Partitioning Drive for Mac and PC to deliver 10GB video file

I need to deliver several video files to a client on a drive.
Because some of the clips are over 10GB I cannot use the drive in its current FAT state.
I want / need the drive to be read by both Mac AND PC.
If this is the case, and I cannot use FAT, should I partition the drive into TWO partitions?
If so, should I then make one partition for Mac and the other for PC... then upload the video files twice, once to each partition?
Is there an alternative? How do I make the drive partitioned for both allowing the video to be ready by both Mac and PC.
Can I do what needs to be done using Disk Utility?
What 2 formats should I use? Is MS-DOS (FAT) the windows based partition, and is that the only one? And won't that not work for my issue of needing to load a file over 4 gigs?
What partition scheme do I want? It appears I can only use one partition scheme... or is this incorrect?
    I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5
Computer is Mac G5. Drive is the WD 250GB passport.
    Thanks

If you format the drive as Microsft NTFS, there will be no problem with split files.
