Videos in Keynote - to play with VLC

I have some avis which are not playing with quicktime however, they play with VLC.
Any idea on how to get these to play in Keynote?

Some have had success loading Perian on their system, but you have to balance that against Perian making your system unstable after a QuickTime update (at least until they can update to compensate).

What I usually do is just convert the videos to a normal QuickTime movie that way, even if I move my presentation to a new computer, everything still works just as it did previously. There used to be a free app called iSquint which was perfect for this, but it's no longer in development. Not sure what the current choice is as I always use my copy of iSquint or VisualHub when I need conversions.

Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
    What I did wrong was:
    - not copying the master image to the nbi folder
    - selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:
    http://www.shellharbourd.det.nsw.edu.au/pdf/misc/osxrestoringnet.pdf
This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder.

  • How to import .mov files that wont play in QT (but play with vlc player)

I have a batch of .mov files of which QT only plays the audio (video is blank) - same thing when I try to open in Final Cut Express HD. I am able to open these with VLC player. How do I convert these files so that I can edit them in FCE? I am suspecting maybe these are HD files and the problem is related to that.

perhaps, it was 'too self-evident' for the sales-person, that FCE is meant for camcorder-imports with a few consumer formats only, DV (as from miniDV), HDV, AVCHD (=last two get converted automatically to AIC) - done.
.. in my main area, iMovie, we permanently read, how people are surprised, that those editors are made _by concept_ as camcorder-editors, not 'file-editors' .. Apple/mov='editable by Apple/FCE' is a fallacy ..

  • Why do videos in keynote not play audio

I have been putting videos in my keynotes for several weeks now, and suddenly the ones I put in today won't play the audio.  I did have to restart my MacBook Pro recently because it froze when playing a PPT.  I noticed some settings got jacked up.  I'm thinking the same thing may have happened with the audio in keynote, but I don't know where the settings are.  Can someone help?  Thanks.

I got the same problem, runs fine in IE though. Chrome has the same problem. If i download a 1080p it runs 100% smooth, when i watch on vimeo, espacially full screen is shocks with + - 10 fps, and horizontal and vertical tearing.
    my specs are : inter duo 6600 @ 2.4 Ghz, 4GB ram, windows 7, ATI X1900,
    things i already did:
    disable all add-ons,
    reset firefox,
    downgrading firefox,
    upgrading firefox,
    updating windows,
    virus scanner,
    updating video driver,
    downgrading video driver,
    updating flash,
    downgrading flash,
i really appreciate help, the only think i could think of maybe its the video card is to old? but then it had to work with older version of firefox. like it did before.

  • Videos will no longer play with firefox but will still play with explorer. I reinstalled flash player. tried resetting nothing seems to help

I have tried everything I know and nothing has worked. Yesterday everything was fine and today I can't get videos to play. I have tried Youtube and various news sites as well as Yahoo news. All I get is a blank screen. I tried it with Internet Explorer and all work. Anyone have any ideas?

There are a number of active threads concerning the latest Flash player plugin (11.3) and the latest Firefox (13). Not all users are experiencing the same issues, but things to check include the following:
    - Conflict with Realplayer Browser Record plugin (to disable this, open Add-ons from the orange Firefox button or the classic Tools menu and look under the Extensions and Plugins categories)
    - Conflict with Flash 11.3 Protected Mode (see [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 Adobe Forums: How do I disable Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?])
Scanning down the front of the forums probably will yield additional suggestions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions

  • How do I get embedded videos in Keynote to play on iPad Keynote?

I've created a presentation with Quicktime video clip on my iMac desktop and imported it for use on my iPad. This is done through iTunes and has worked before, but the message shows that the media did not transfer.  When trying to show it from Keynote on the iPad, it won't work.  I'm wondering whether finally connecting ot the prject would work, but that doesn't seem logical.  Any tips will be of help.

If you have a 6G Nano, then no, it does not support video playback.

  • IPod Nano ad will play with VLC, not with QT Pro 6.5.2

I downloaded the new iPod Nano ad from apple's website but all I get is music when I play it and a message saying that there may be some problems with video (QT Pro 6.5.2). I tried it wih Video Lan Client and it played without problems. Is QT 6 unable to play it ? Do I really need QT7 ?

I think we both are taking each other a little too seriously I appreciated your correction (which, when now rereading my response is not very obvious). My skills were not slighted
I have Panther on my external for the same reason.
It's certainly not the first time I've been wrong on these boards and won't be the last, but that's the reason I post here- to learn. Thanks again for the clarification.

    Dear Sir,
I hav z10 im using 16GB sd card & im facing problem now because im not able to play video or mp3 stored in sd card pls solve this issue how to fix it.

    Hello,
Has this always been a problem? Did you properly format the SD card in the device before loading it with any content? When you try, what exactly happens? "not able to play" doesn't really tell us much...is there an error message?

  • HT4528 Video sound no longer plays with screen off with ios 6.   Is this feature no longer supported?

On IOS 5 on my iphone 4 32GB I used to be able to start playing a downloaded iTunes video, hit the power button, double tap the home button, and then start the audio portion of the video playing.   This no longer works in IOS 6.   Is this no longer a supported feature, or is this a bug?

  • Video not appearing when playing with QT Pro 7.7.2 on Win7.

I just transferred a video from my iPhone to my laptop using Google Drive.  I can playback the video flawlessly using Windows Media Player, but when trying to playback using QT Pro 7.7.2 the video is all black.  I've checked the Movie Properties and the video track is enabled.
Can anyone provide some guidance on why this might be happening and how to fix it?
This is my first experience using QT Pro and it's a bit frustrating.

OK so i found the solution myself - seems apple programmers have been not doing their jobs properly, to get this working the file name of the video that i want exported cannot be anything other than in 8.3 format (like old MS-DOS) but it's more than that, even if you do have the file in 8.3 format it still cant be in a directory that has a name longer than 8 characters, or which has spaces in it etc. so in my case i copied my video to c:\temp and renamed all of them to the old MS-DOS 8.3 format, now the export works... amazing I wonder how long i would have waited for apple support if i hadnt resolved this myself.

  • Flash videos playing with audio echo on initial load.

I have been having issues playing Flash videos in the current version of Firefox (10.0) as well as the previous version (unknown) over the past few months.
When I open a page with a video it will begin playing with an echo as if two videos are playing at the same time with a slight delay on the second video causing an audio echo effect. So basically one video with echoing audio. The websites that I experience this the most are yahoo sports (happens practically every time) and gamespot (happens occasionally). If I refresh the page the echoing effect goes away.
    I am running Windows 7 64-bit.
I have updated video drivers on my ATI Radeon HD 5800 series.
My flash player / shockwave is 11,1,102,55 (updated) but I know I have experienced the same problem with previous versions.
I have the following plug-ins enabled:
    1. Adobe Acrobat 10.1.2.45
    2. Current version of Ad-Block
    3. Divx Plus Web Player 2.2.0.52
    4. Divx VOD Helper Plug-In 1.1.0.6
    5. Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plug-In 1.0.0.8
    6. Quicktime Plug-In 7.7.1 / 7.7.1.0
    7. Real Player 32 Bit Plug-Ins (4 total plug ins) 15.0.0.198
    8. Veetle Plug-Ins (3 total plug ins) 0.9.17.0
I have some others as well but I thought these were the only relevant ones.
Can anyone help me with my problem?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

How can I capture / download ( save to my PC) a JW PLayer Video that is being broadcast - I wish to capture a streaming video that is being played with JWplayer?

    Hi there
Likely you will need to capture using a different tool than Captivate. Then you might save in a format Captivate understands (such as FLV or SWF) then insert that into Captivate.

  • Firefox 23.0.1 lags. YouTube plays with lag. Only happens with Firefox browser. Any solution? Ability to download from YouTube only reason keeping FFox.

Videos from the internet play with lag. Pages scroll with lag. Pointer lags only on browser. There are no pending downloads in my computer. Saw a similar problem but it is not applicable to this issue. I have deleted cookies and other stuff and the problem persists. Already using Chrome but Fire Fox ability to download YouTube videos is only reason I still keep it. Loyal to Fire Fox for many years but this is becoming a mayor issue.

In order to be able to find the correct solution to your problem, we require some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:
*Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the ''Help'' menu and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the submenu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the menu.
Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

  • Is it possible to embedding a video in Keynote and then play as a PDF?

    Hi
Is it possible to embedding a video in Keynote and then play as a PDF?  I want to do a PowerPoint/Keynote presentation that includes videos from YouTube.  My preference is use Keynote although I do have Office 2004.
My issue is that the places where we present have their own equipment so we are encouraged to bring the presentation on a USB/portable HD, and they tend to be Windows environments.
In my perfect (ignorant) world, I'd
    Create it in Keynote
    Add/embed videos from YouTube
Save it as a multi platform file like a PDF
I guess the key issue is:
Is there a way to create a multi platform presentation with videos (I think Keynote and PPT require different video formats???) that can be carried on USB/portable HD?
    Thanks

No, it's not possible without using hacks. And Adobe can't support or endorse hacks
Bear in mind that not only there are new features in a new version which can't possibly be recreated by an older version - also, there are enhancements to existing features, which would make them render differently in the two versions.
That said, there are people posting such hacks, as Sébastien pointed out.
