Videos in the Photos section

I have an issue, that I have seom videos within my pictures. Previously these existed within the Pictures folder, but I could still play them
However now this doesn't happen & in the Pictures folder I just get the first frame of the video, without being able to play them. I don't know why suddenly it won't play them, except that I had the last official software update, & ever since then they haven't worked
They are all in mp4 format. as most are home videos I wanted to keep them in the Pictures folder rather than move them into the official Videos section
Has anyone else seen this, or have any suggestions? thanks

This means it was transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process. No other way for the video to be where it is located unless it was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store direct with your iPhone.
If no longer available on your computer and not purchased from the iTunes store, there are 3rd party paid apps/utilities that provide for transferring this in the opposite direction.

What happens when you try to change them?
Try:
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

How do you delete duplicate photos in the photo section of your iPad? My iPad has duplicated n tripled my photos n want let me delete them. I can delete photos from any other section but not in photos, this is taken up all my memory. Help!!

Never heard of that before. Events and Photos are exactly the same thing, just presented in a different way.
What version of iPhoto? Can you give us a full description of what you see in the Events section?

I updated the software as required for the iPad and now I can no longer delete photos from the app in the photo section. I had been able to do it but now there are multiple photos of the same pic and I can't remove any of them. What is wrong?

Photos in the Camera Roll or in the Imported Images album can be deleted within the album. One the album and select the icon with the curved arrow. Then tap on the photo or photos you want to delete to select them. Finally tap delete.
For photos in other albums you delete them by moving them out of the albums they were in on your computer. If you're using a Mac open iTunes on your Mac and move the photos out of the album then go through the sync process with your iPad.
If you're using a pc then move the photos out of the folders they are in and go through the sync process.

In imovie how do I seperate all my videos from the photos from iphoto? I have thousands of photos so finding the odd video here or there is like finding a needle in a haystack! Is there a way I can simply import the videos rather than all the photos

Imovies - how do I seperate the videos from the photos. My library has bundled them all together from iphoto

One way I was able to do this, was to make a Smart Album in iPhoto, with the rule of showing just the movie files. This will work, once you know what format the movie files are in.
In iPhoto, select one of your movies, and right click it. Look for the option: "Reveal in Finder" or "Show in Finder" (this depends on the version of iPhoto).
Once you see the file, look for the three letters AFTER the period. Like this:
.mov (QuickTime movie)
.avi (Uncompressed Windows Video)
.mpg (MPEG video)
Back in iPhoto, when you make your Smart Album, set it up like this:
Once you have it set like this, press RETURN (or click "Ok").
What you'll see is all the videos that have that file extension (.mov, .avi, .mpg, etc.) listed. Now the nice thing is this: Every new movie you add to iPhoto will automatically get listed here, regardless of where in iPhoto they live!
Integration with iMovie:
By making this album in iPhoto, when you get to iMovie, you'll be able to see the movies when you select your Videos Smart Album.

I didn't have iPhoto so I had to purchase it from the App store but that didn't help. I think the problem is because my devices still think they are synced to the previous version of my mac, but I don't know how to get them to sync with the new setup.

Should your photos all be in the photo section or albums?

I cant figure out how the pics should be organized. When I upload a pic through blogger it opens the photo section of iphoto and all the pics come up as one folder!! 10000 pics in one folder! If you put them in separate albums will this help this out? If I change them into separate albums will the photos not be in the photo part anymore?

So you are calling the photo button the library?
I'm not sure what your question is - there is an iPhoto library which is a special kind of folder called a "package" - by default the iPhoto library is in your pictures folder - You do not need to and should not be going into it
Im new to mac in general so maybe this isnt helping. How do I categorize the pics then?
However you want - many of us use keywords and smart albums - others use different methods
When I imported the library from my old computer they were all in files with subfolders, when I put into i photo they busted out into all separate folders. I dont like it like this, there are way too many folders. Thats why I want to redo them into separate albums I guess.
Again do not go into the iPhoto library and forget about its contents and how it is organized - it makes no difference - you access the photos (not the files) using the tools provided and described in the link on my previous post

IMovie - I have video interview and added photos. I want to add sound to the photos. They are at the end of the video. I added one free music sound over the start of the photo section. How do I continue to add music to the following photos?

Can you get to "my videos" in the youtube section of Apple TV?

Hello all,
I have a question about the YouTube section of Apple TV. I currently store all of my home videos on youtube. I upload them as "private" and organize them in playlists, just as if each playlist was a DVD that I would burn. (As an example... one playlist is titled "Disney World 2011" with about 5 different videos from that week.) I love having everything private and stored in the cloud, and you can't beat youtube's free unlimited storage... but the only way we can watch family videos is on the computer. I'd love to not hook a cable up from my computer to TV, and it would be awesome if I could just easily see everything right through Apple TV.
I can see that you can get to "Featured Videos" "Favorites" "History" etc... in the youtube section. Is there any way to get directly to the videos that you've uploaded or to the playlists that you've created in the YouTube section on Apple TV?
If you can, I'm definitely going to buy the new Apple TV that just came out.

How do you delete a photo album off your phone that doesn't have the delete option available? and the photos section on iTunes has no photos synced?

so I have an iPhone 4s and a while back I put a photo album on my phone, but now I cannot delete it!! The delete option isn't there to do it on my device and I have tried unchecking the synced photos button on iTunes and that doesn't work, I just want them off my phone.

If unchecking and syncing in iTunes doesn’t work, you may have to use a third party tool like iPhone PC suite. With it, you can delete the photos and videos in Camera Roll, pictures in apps, pictures transferred from computer to iPhone and more. Use “Crtl + A” (for Windows) or “Command + A” (for Mac) to select all the pictures in an album and delete them, the album will disappear automatically.

Using Adobe Premier Elements to create a video using the photos and it is make the photos blurry. Is there a setting to correct this?

as the subject states, i am suing Premier Elements pro to create a video using photos. The photos are clear then when you play the video they become blurry. I would guess there would be a way to correct this but not having much success. any helps would be great.

Thanks for the follow up. Right now I see details that do need addressing. For one, you are importing 3:2 photos into a project set for 16:9.
You still have not told us what version of Premiere Elements that you are using and on what computer operating system it is running. For now I will assume, Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit. NTSC setup.
Please try the following as a mini test run (just a few of your photos) to determine if the Timeline photos present better in the Edit area and in an export.
1. Open Premiere Elements 13/13.1 to the Expert workspace and go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
2. In Change Settings, change the settings to
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR [email protected]
OK out of there.
3. In the New Project Dialog that now opens, rename the project and make sure that you have a check mark next to Force Selected Project Setting on This Project. OK out of there.
4. Back in the Export workspace, import your photos using Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Projects Assets from where you drag the photos to the Timeline. There will be an orange line over the Timeline content. Press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard. or the Render button above the Timeline to do Timeline rendering which will result in the best possible preview in the Edit area monitor.
Also, right click the Edit area monitor, select Playback Quality, and then determine if the "Highest" gives better results than "Automatic".
If all looks good, then let us look at the quality of a AVCHD.mp4 export of that Timeline....

About your photos (3872 x 2592 3:2)...video is 4:3 or 16:9. So to avoid black borders, you could consider
a. cropping the originals from 3:2 to 16:9 before import
or
b. importing them as is and doing any needed scaling in the Edit area monitor
But, right now the focus is on image clarity rather than black borders.
Please review and consider.

Need an iOS utility to move a home-made video to the Photos app/file space

I urgently need to find a way to move a home made video file (.mp4) that was _not_ created on or with an iPhone from being only visible on the iPhone 4S (running (locked) iOS 6.0.1) Videos app to be visible in the Photos app.
I must project these videos via an iPhone Pico projector (Aiptek i50 "sled" model) in a highly mobile way that has zero dependency on a laptop. Aiptek provides a Viewer app that does allow any video storred in the Photos Albums file space to be projected but this Viewer app does not allow me to browse over to the Videos filespace.
This desired utility could run on Mac OS X or Windows 7 - or on the iPhone itself. I just need to leave my office with the ability to project these non-iPhone camera-created video files on the Aiptek projector.

If you can convert it to a compatible format, the app PhotoSync will allow you to wirelessly send it to the camera roll on your phone, so it would be playable in the Photos app (again, if the video was a compatible format).
