Videos Loading Slowly!

Hi,
I was viewing quicktime videos on a website today and all of sudden everything started loading slowly. I immediately went to disk utilities and ran it. Still the videos ran slowly. I even did Diskwarrior and shut down/restarted my computer and still they are loading at a very slow rate. Is there something else I can do? Why are the videos loading slowly? I've checked my internet speed on websites like msnbc.com and my business website which has flash videos and they worked fine. I also had someone send me another quicktime video which although it didn't load promptly was playing in less than 7 seconds.

Post a link/URL of the slow loading video website.

  • Videos loading slowly and often only partially

Sorry if this has already been adressed somewhere, I could not find an answer to my problem.
For the last week all videos I've been attempting to stream have been loading very slowly or only partially (it's taking me at least 4 times the norm to load)
I'm running OS 10.5.8 and have been having this trouble with both firefox and chrome.
About a month and a half ago I was having errors with the message "Adobe Flash Player was blocked because it is out of date" so I used this fix (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/chrome/_CnkF0tj6xk/yynqSTnTNnUJ) and it's been working great (but now I'm wondering if it's involved in my problem)
    I've tried -
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed Flash plugin before reintsaling.
Launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
    It was not a sucess.
My internet speeds are good, everything else is loading fine..

Since there may not be too many people in this forum that may still be using the old operating system, I will ask the hosts to have your post moved to the Leopard (10.5.8) forum.

  • Embeded video loads slowly

So here's the scenario. I have an iPhone 4S on AT&T running iOS 7.0.3. Currently, it takes me about an hour to watch a 7 minute video embeded on a website because the video buffers/loads so slowly. This was not an issue prior to upgrading to iOS 7 that I can think of. I have full signal, as the closest tower is literally 50 yards away. I have tried to use Safarri and Chrome with the same results. Video on the YouTube app seems to work fine, it will do some prebuffering and then continue to load as I watch. Embeded video on the other hand, just sits there.
    Any solutions/thoughts?

If you haven't already, try disabling Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics. This works around graphics card driver incompatibilities.
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This takes effect after you exit and restart Firefox.

  • Videos load slowly or not at all with Flash 10!

Well here we go. I'm working on IE 8 128-bit for Windows XP SP3 32-bit. Flash Player 10.1.102.64.
Two days ago I noticed that video playback on sites like Youtube, Veoh, Magavideo etc the load time was real choppy. A video say two or three minuted longs would take more than 3 min, to buffer and then the video would start, then buffer somemore. Start , stop, repeat. For longer videos the flash player wouldn't buffer at all. Now I just give up on watching videos until this problem is solved. I tried one suggestion that said on the adobe hardware settings disable hardware acceleration. Did that, but didn't fix the problem. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling FP 10.1.102.64 once, but that didn't work.
In my "Currently Loaded Add ons" section Shockwave Flash Object is enabled. Version 10.1.102.64 that is.
The files in my system32/Macromed/Flash/ folder are as followed
A folder with 'Flash Player Trust' it contains a filed name rpconverter.cfg
    Flash10l.ocx
    a text document with FlashInstall
    flashplayer.xpt
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll
    genuinst
    KB923789
    NPSWF32.dll
I just want to watch videos online again. I need help.
    I have Avast anti-virus
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    Smart Defrag
    Any help anybody.

Step by step what should my Java script setting be? I don't think any quicktime addons are conflicting with it. The First time I had this problem, I had to simply had to turn off the SmartFilter and all my videos buffered smoothly through. I don't know whats wrong THIS time.
When trying to watch a veoh video on this website a error message is found of the page. I click on the little yellow triangle in the corner.

  • YouTube Videos Loading Slowly

Hi. I've been having a lot of problems with YouTube lately. When I first got my computer, it didn't have any problems at all. but within a month, it takes like 10 minutes to load a minute long video.
I tried repair disk permissions in the disk utility, tried loading videos in safari and firefox, tried clearing out my hd with the Clean My Mac program, etc. I'm not sure what else I can try.
I have the new 27" iMac 4850-512mb 2.8ghz quad-core intel core i7, and I'm running Snow Leopard. I don't know a lot about hardware so I don't know if that is the information needed to help or any thing but if you need anymore information please let me know. =]

Try using ClickToFlash. That might help streaming speeds.
Also, make sure that you're not playing 720p video. You'll have a hard time streaming that through your internet connection.

  • Video loads slowly and is extremely glitchy; photos also glitchy

    Hello,
I've seen some reports of glitchy displays on videos and images in FF lately, but no posts so far that also include EXTREMELY slow performance. Mine not only shows a glitchy, green, or "spliced" image on YouTube and DailyMotion, but also slows to the point of stopping pretty much every time. I just successfully reinstalled FF via the ftp site a few hours ago, and have already tried disabling all add-ons, which didn't help at all. I'm trying to attach several screenshots, but the real issue here is that it's got all of these glitchy issues PLUS is slow and simply stops loading videos very soon after loading the page. Can someone tell me how to add screenshots? I don't see anything resembling an "attach" button on this form's page, but have about 4 of them I could share.

  • Youtube videos load slowly

hello I have a 13inch macbook pro running 10.8 and youtube videos buffer very slowly. I have an 18mb Internet connection and netflix, vimeo, and all other downloads happen at that speed. I have tried changeimg my dns server multiple times but still no luck. I have also uninstalled flash and reinstalled flash. It has been doing this for 3 or 4 months. Any suggestions?

Same here. My iPad connects fine with any WiFi I use it on and speed is pretty good. But the Youtube app seems to either have some issues or just not take full advantage of the available speed. I often have videos stall.
The Netflix app work flawless, never had any slow connection issues. The Youtube app in general could use a makeover. It still uses the old rating system that isn't even supported by Youtube any more. It also doesn't show all my subscriptions.

  • Applications load slowly on imac after Mavericks clean install

After a clean install of Mavericks, my late 2009 imac runs more slowly compared to how it ran under Snow Leopard.  Applications like "Settings" take a few seconds to load, whereas under snow leopard, the application would load almost instantly.  The Novabench score now is around 771, and matches about what I measured after the clean Mavericks install, but appears low compared to scores for similarly configured systems running Snow Leopard.  The system is quite usable, especially if applications are left open, just slower.  Is it possible to identify from Etrecheck a possible explanation?  Is this level of degradation of performance expected when upgrading an old system?  Thank you for your help.

  • Fast Internet Connection, but webpages loading slowly

    Hello everybody,
this is my first post in this community. So far this group has helped me to solve all kinds of problems I ran into by simply browsing the forum, but this time I hope that somebody might be able to help me directly.
My wireless network at home consists of an AirPort Extreme Base Station (4th Generation) and an AirPort Express Base Station that are both connected via Ethernet to a Cisco Router. I have a cable internet connection and I use the Cisco Router (which was provided by my ISP) as an interface between the cable socket and my two Apple base stations. However, only the AirPort Extreme Base Station is used to create a wireless network. The AirPort Express is used only for AirPlay.
For a couple of months now, I have been experiencing an odd problem. Webpages take a very long time to load on my MacBook Pro (13'' Retina display), my older MacBook, as well as on my girlfriend's MacBook Air (11''). Sometimes the pages load for so long that there is a timeout before the page is loaded completely. I experience this with all kinds of web browsers (Safari, Firefox, Chrome). The odd thing is that only the loading of webpages seem to be affected. Internet Downloads, Video Streams, etc. are still extremely fast. I get the following results on speedtest.net (after spending 1 minute to load the page):
    - Ping: 9ms
    - Download Speed: 38.55 Mbps
    - Upload Speed: 7.62 Mbps
Also, when connected to the network with my iPad or my girlfriend's iPhone, pages load with a normal speed. We experience the issues only on our Mac computers. Outside my home network all computers load pages as quickly as they should.
Here is a list of things that I tried:
    - Restarted AirPort Extreme Base Station and Cisco Router
    - Factory Reset of AirPort Extreme Base Station and Cisco Router
    - Downgraded AirPort Extreme Base Station from 7.6.1. to various former versions and back
    - Changed channels of the Airport Extreme Base Station
    - Connected to AirPort Extreme base station via Ethernet (pages still loading slowly)
    - Ran Activity Monitor on my Mac, but found no activities that could cause the Mac to slow down
    - Ran Network Utility and sent a ping to google.com, but experienced no traffic loss
At this point I am really running out of ideas on how to solve this. Does anybody have a clue what might cause this?
    Best regards,
    Georg

    HI tzbikowski,
    thanks for your message!
I added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to my DNS server list. This has definitely improved things. Pages are loading quicker now, but it's still far from the speed you would expect. Could you elaborate on what you mean when you say that the cisco settings should be correctly propagated onto LAN? When connecting to the Cisco router through the admin interface, it mentions two different DNS servers that the router appears to use (I guess those are provided by my ISP). Are you referring to these servers?
    Thanks!

  • Year 2010-2011 MacBook Pro version 10.7.4 issues: freezes up, files are loading slowly and buttons are not responding

Hello my fellow Apple product user's. My problem has been going on for about a month and half with my laptop locking up, file folders on my desktop loading slowly and my sleep button and other buttons on my dash board not responding. Where to being with my issues that are listed up in my title and my first scene. The first issue has been my file folders are not loading fast like that did before, the issue is that they load in about 10-15 if not a little longer after I log into my laptop desktop. The second issue is that my sleep button does not respond to sleep right away, I have to press it three or four different times after I have logged out of my desktop to make it go to sleep.  The final problem is dealing with my buttons and laptop locking up, when I started an application called runescape after it load to the log in screen and after I came back to log into the game it decide to lock up/ froze on me and durning that time my buttons on my dashboard was not responding, so I decide to command q to quit the application and after that buttons were not reponding to it and I decide to do common and control c to see if it would work and it did and after that everything has been working fine except for the files are loading slowly. Also I had another issue with the laptop sleeping so quick as soon I am using the Internet. There was one other problem that had happen to me just like my description in my first scene, but I do not remember that issue.

It's likely that the new drive isn't working, or it wasn't installed correctly, or you had some other hardware fault rather than a bad drive.

  • Flash in iWeb- a white square flashes before video loads......

hey there- i am trying to put flash into iweb. It works, using code from iWebunlimited, but there is a white box that flashes before the video loads... I've tried so many different encoders, iweb code, etc..
    see it here:

Any idea as to what is causing the white flash before the video?
    thanks so much......!!

i am trying to put flash into iweb
You succeeded as far as I could determine.
Anyway. The browser needs to download the files, puts them into place and render the lot.
    That takes some time.
Also, every brand of browser has its way of doing that.
And black and white on a page is the largest contrast you can imagine. Use less contrasting colors.

  • Web pages load slowly using Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

Web pages are loading slowly now on my mid-2008 iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Doesn't seem to matter if I use Safari v5.1.10, Firefox v29.0.1, or Chrome v34.0.1847.131.
Problem started about a week ago mostly with YouTube but now I have issues with almost all web pages loading slowly, including this one.

Try resetting both your Intenet MODEM/Router by unplugging them, waiting 15 to 20 seconds then plugging them back in.

  • IWork 09 - all apps loading slowly when on network

    Hi
I have just received a copy of iWork 09 at work, for installation to our school iMac workstations. However, I'm having the problem in that all of the apps, Numbers, Pages and Keynote load very slowly when my test iMac is connected to our school network.
I am almost certain that it's our squid-based proxy server that's causing us problems (we have never been able to register any Macs through it). I can only assume that the applications are attempting to contact Apple for whatever reason when they are loaded. This isn't for registration, as I told all the applications to 'Never Register' on first run.
I have tested with the iMac plugged into our normal broadband connection, and the apps load almost instantly. This adds fuel to my belief that it's the proxy, and the applications talking over the internet.
Is it possible to alter a setting or edit a plist file, which will prevent the applications from doing whatever they are trying to do online?
    Regards,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
While I can't fully answer your question, maybe I can point you in the right direction.
The network connection iWork applications make at startup is a query for new help content.
This seems like a useful function to me, so I don't know if you'd want to investigate disabling it or not, but apps loading slowly is never fun!
If you can't get your Network Administrator to fix the problems with using Macs on your network, I'd look around for something to do with non-permanently disabling this function through a .plist edit. I know that's what you're doing already, but maybe knowing what function it is you're after will help you find what you're looking for!
