Videos not detected on Safari

Hi there,
I've embedded a video (mp4) on to my website but it won't work in Safari on Windows. I have installed flash, quicktime and VLC.
It works in IE, Firefox and Chrome, and even YouTube videos work on Safari, but for some reason it won't detect it all - it just doesn't appear. Any suggestions?

Your video works in my version (7) of Safari on my Mac running 10.9.
It could load faster if you reduced the audio track (it's bigger than the video side) by exporting in mono and reducing the sample rate.

Work fine for me - they are just normal Flash videos.
Make sure your Flash Player is up to date.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

S-video not detected on X700-M with free driver??

I'm using last ati-radeon free drivers on a ATI X700 mobility and my S-Video output is not detected by xrandr.

I'm having the same problem as you. I posted another thread before finding this one. I can't seem to get any replies either.
I don't know if we're the only ones having this issue or if no one else is trying to use S-video or what. I really wish I could get mine fixed. I tried the xf86-video-ati-git from AUR but it didn't help.
The only difference with my problem is that xrandr also shows a DVI-0 at the bottom. I don't even have a DVI-0. I have a VGA-0 like you do. I wonder if xrandr is detecting the S-video as DVI for some reason? Though I've tried setting up DVI-0 as I would S-video but that doesn't work.
Have you solved this by any chance? If so I'd be interested to know how. Thanks and good luck.
***My card is an ATI X1200 series by the way.

YOUTUBE video not running in safari 7.0.5, it keep saying error n lack screen appears .

Since last 3 days youtube video is not running in my safari 7.0.5 - OS X 10.9.4, I tried all things but still the issue remains, what should i do ?

Unless you mention exactly what you have tried that didn't work, we have no way of knowing.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video. If that doesn't help, back to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.

Youtube videos not working in safari

running os x 10.7.2 and for some reason youtube videos not playing. just started happening. black box is all i get. youtube works fine in Chrome & Firefox.

I found a fix that worked on my computer. Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Remove all website data. This got my YouTube functioning properly again.

YouTube Videos not working in Safari on iPad 2

When I use YouTube in Safari on my iPad 2, I noticed that the official music videos are not working in YouTube. I get an error message which states "Video cannot be played on mobile." Below is a link to the all time most watched videos. Not music videos (Video # 5) play fine on my iPad but the official music videos (Videos 1 - 4) do not.

These videos are restricted and can not be played on a mobile device... These videos have come up before in this forum. The record companies have placed a flag on these video so they can't be played on a mobile device. If you look at the URL for the video you will notice it is a mobile web page... http://m.YouTube...
Anyone can place this flag in their video on YouTube. The flag can be set in the settings/edit for each video.
If you have flash on your mobile device and don't go to the mobile web page you can play the video.

Videos not playing in Safari

Hello,
I cannot seem to get any videos other than youtube to play on my macbook pro. I just updated my system and nothing seems to be working. help!
I am currently running OS X version 10.9.5 and safari version 7.0.6
These are two examples of websites that the videos will not play on, they just show up as black boxes.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Embedded Vimeo video not displaying in Safari 5

I recently embedded a vimeo video into the home page of my iweb website. It displays on most browsers and earlier versions of Safari, but not with Safari 5. Are others running into this problem? Do you have any suggestions?

CD-ROM and S-video not detected

My laptop (a Toshiba Satellite P205 - about 3 years old) started having problems. If I activated, for example, my email program, it would start but for 5 minutes or longer it would be unresponsive. The title bar said "not responding" and nothing would happen for 5 minutes. If I did nothing it would finally start working. So, yesterday, I got out the reinstallation disks and reinstalled Windows Vista (32 bit). This reformatted the hard drive but I had backed up my important files. Anyway, it ran much better and I was able to use the CD-ROM to reinstall some programs and document files I lost when I reformatted. BUT later, when I turned the machine on again, the computer didn't recognize that it has a DVD/CD-ROM drive or an S-video. I checked it by going to "Computer" where I used to be able to see all the files by drives. It detected my second hard drive (connected by USB) and the Flashdrive but not the DVD/CD-ROM drive or the S-video connection. It also detects my USB devices (printer, mouse, etc) .
This morning, I went through "Device Manager" and checked the driver for the DVD drive. I got this message under "General":
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
What is Code 39?
I would reformat again but, obviously, if I don't have access to the DVD/CD-ROM, I can't.

Video not loading in Safari

Just recently video content stopped loading in Safari. I get the blue q for quicktime but there is a question mark on it, and nothing loads. I am new to the mac and would appriciate help with this.

It is enough for MacFixIt to do this article above. Thankfully, this doesn't seem to effect other browsers. I'm using Firefox right now as an alternative browser. There is a browser called Shiira which uses the same rendering engine[http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/en] as Safari and it is also effected so this is definitely an Apple thing.

Video not working in safari on a PC

I made a adobe edge video banner that works in chrome, firefox, and safari on the mac. it works in chrome, firefox, explorer on the PC but doesn't work in safari on the PC. I read that there's an issue with older versions of quicktime so I installed the latest version on the pc and still no go. So the video doesn't play in safari on the PC.

I guess we didn't restart after upgrading safari but I checked it this morning and it works.
the other problem I had is the video controls aren't showing up unless you roll over a narrow 10-20 pixel area in the chrome. How do i keep the controls on there at all times i don't need it to disappear if they roll off the video?

Youtube videos not loading in Safari?

Youtube videos load in the Youtube app but don't load in Safari/Atomic. I can see the screen cap and press play, but the video never loads (the spinning circle spins forever or disappears). I can load HTML5 videos on other sites with no issues. Anyone know how to fix this?
I've tried:
-powering off then on
-syncing to PC
-turning off auto-brightness
-youtube.com/html5 and clicked "Join the HTML5 Beta"
-clearing history, cookies, cache in Safari Settings
My iPad is on 4.3.3.

If you will provide URL for videos, then we can test them for you.

Facebook videos not playing in safari

Hi guys.
I have had an issue with safari for a while where facebook videos (i.e. flash) won't load. there's just a black space where the video should be. I tried uninstalling flash, resetting safari etc. to no avail. I gave up and used chrome instead which works fine.
Yesterday I bought a nice shiny new retina macbook pro and when I first booted it as it was downloading yosemite, the videos worked fine in facebook once I downloaded flash. Now I have transfered all my settings/apps/files etc from the time machine backup, the videos have stopped working. I have uninstalled everything adobe, reinstalled flash only, gone into the library and deleted the safari files etc. and this has had no effect (other than my frustration levels).
I have tried the delete all option in the flash settings, and the videos didn't work when I didn't have chrome installed.
Can any one help? It's pretty irritating....

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

Embedded YouTube videos not playing in Safari OS X

Recently, I've had trouble playing embedded videos (for example on tumblr or on Laughing Squid). I can see the space the YouTube box is meant to be in, but it's blank. I can play them on YouTube though. This started before the Yosemite update.
I use AdBlock but it happens whether it's on or off. I've updated my Flash, cleared my Flash and Safari cache but to no avail.
This happens both on my MacBook Air and on my desktop, both running Yosemite and fully updated Flash etc.
Does anyone know if this is a widespread bug or if I can fix it easily?

Ok, I fixed it. Go to some embedded Flash video, click to run and then right click to get Global Settings for Flash. Go into Storage and make sure you aren't blocking any data from being stored on your computer. At the very least choose the "ask me" setting. (For good measure I also went into Advanced and clicked to Delete All Data associated with Flash. But when I restored Block for data storage the videos stopped working, so that seems to be the answer.) I'd be interested to hear if this works for others.
