Videos not playing in iPhoto and iMovie

I have tons of video in iPhoto that are not playing. They show a preview thumbnail, then they show the "triangle and exclamation" error sign when clicked on. The same videos appeared in iPhoto as recently as yesterday and worked just fine. The same videos no longer appear in iMovie and it says that iPhoto has no video content. Any ideas on what to do? Please help!!! Thanks

Most likely, iPhoto lost track of where the videos are located.
if you moved the folder or videos to a new location on purpose, move them back. If you think they were moved accidentally, do a Spotlight search to locate them, then re-import or move them back.

Videos not playing in iphoto with quick time/// pictures disappearing for good..

upgraded to snow leopard. I used to be able to double click on my videos in Iphoto and they would start playing in quicktime. Now when i double click my videos, its not even acknowledged that i double clicked them at all. my video ONLY plays if i drag and drop the video on my desktop then double click. ALSO, when i merge photo events together in my iphoto or just move them around in iphoto they disappear and i cant find them anymore, forcing me to get out my time machine an back up to when i had those photos again... and i heard that iphoto 11 is not a good buy.. please help on this too thank you..

well nevermind anyway... i bought LION and ILIFE11..... things seem to be in shape now...

Videos not playing in iPhoto 09

I've just noticed that since upgrading to iLife 09 none of the videos that are in iPhoto now play (they used to happily launch Quicktime and play when double clicked).
Quicktime launches, but the videos do not play. Also, when I try to drag the videos from iPhoto onto my desktop they do not copy.
Any suggestions?

Don't re-import them - you'll be re-introducing data to a damaged database.
Try Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Urgent Help Required - Video Not playing on IE11 and Firefox

Hi,
I need Urgent Help , I am trying to Play this Presentation on IE 11 and Firefox and it doesn't play the Video part which is FLV and f4v formats.
I have been googeling it but couldn't find a solution so far ,Can anyone please help , its really urgent as I am done with the Project ,and this is the last bit which I have been struggling with for a while now.

Software update not working for iPhoto and iMovie

My updates for both iPhoto and iMoive say they can update becasue the app is already loaded and say to check to check app store updates. My iLife came with my my new Mac Mini. Confusing as best.

I was thinking it might be a good idea to delete and re install the iMovie and iPhoto applications from the Mac App store.
First find the apps in your Applications folder in finder, and move them to the trash and restart your computer.
Then use this article to re download them from the Mac App Store.

Videos not playing in iPhoto

For some reason I can not view videos in iPhoto anymore.
I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and iPhoto 9.6.1.
This has just happened today and I am hoping that the files haven't been corrupted. Please help!

Select one of the affected videos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected.
Does it? Does it play from there?

Videos not playing in iphoto v.7.1.5

About a year ago, we stopped being able to view videos with iPhoto. We've upgraded our operating system a couple of times and now have Mountain Lion v10.8.3 but they still won't play.
We have the latest version of quicktime and iphoto version 7.1.5.
Any ideas?

You have iPhoto 08 and that looks for QuickTime 7 - which was the current version of QuickTime when 08 was released.
Once you updated the OS, QuickTime 7 was replaced by QuickTime X. iPhoto 08 doesn't know about X and so can't play the videos.
Solutions:
Either install QuickTime 7 or update iPhoto to a later version (09 or 11)

Iphoto and Imovie

Couple of questions:
- Are movies and video stored in both Iphoto and Imovie - how do I delete them from Iphoto? Are they currently stored twice on the hard drive or just once?
- Can I select photos only to copy when putting images onto a usb stick?

I have a 2008 iMac. Can iPhoto and iMovie process 720p HD videos?

I am shopping for a megazoom camera. They are mostly built for still photos, but also shoot HD videos.. in either 720p or 1080p formats. I have a 2008 iMac. I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard or a more recent version of iLIfe.
Can my version of iPhoto and iMovie process either format of HD?
A guy at the local Apple store said the video files have to be in AVCHD format, but I have found no info to back this up, so he is probably wrong.
A Canon online rep said 720p could be used, because my mac uses a 1080i format. ?? Something about up-sourcing.
I am eager to buy a camera, but want to be VERY sure I can use at least a 720p HD format.
As I am a computer neophyte, please explain in layman's terms.

As far as I can tell it says 1080i will work with iMovie 7.0, But I could be wrong.
I think your advice on using 720p is excellent. The camera I am most inclined to buy at the moment is the Panasonic Lumix FZ-100. I think it has optional .. what do I call them.. resolutions? Possibility of shooting in either 720p or 1080i... or maybe not.
A rather rude apple tech support guy I spoke with yesterday.. if I remember correctly, said 720p or 1080i or 1080p.. wouldn't matter.. for '08 imoive.. but this might not be correct. Besides being unpleasant, he didn't explain things very well..
He also said it is best to find a camera that shoots in AVCHD, and that if I didn't find one, I would have to convert the video file to AVCHD.. I am wondering how to do that, and I am wondering if he is correct.
You have a Canon.. I got an email from a Canon rep who says none of the Canon cameras shoots in AVCHD.. maybe this is not a problem? Do you have to convert your video files to AVCHD?
And.. If I have been shooting in 1080i..or 1080p for that matter, if I understand you correctly, I can process that video in 720p instead? I don't know if there is an option for this in iMovie '08 (which is version 7.. GRRRR.)
This is all too @#$% complicated! I've been doing research for almost a week.. many hours a day.. trying to figure out what camera to buy, and whether or not it is compatible with my mac. I thought I had it figured out.. but maybe not..
If I need to, I'll get the iLife '09.. but have been reading bad reviews of iLife '11, so probably won't get that one.
Besides the Pan. Lumix, I am checking out the Canon SX20 and SX30.. both shoot in 720p.. I think.. If I can convert these to AVCHD easily (or if I don't have to convert them) maybe the Canons are a better choice.
Lastly.. will these videos process with iPhoto? Mostly I just want to put videos on youtube without any fancy editing. I've been doing this with an older but excellent point and shoot Canon (that does not shoot videos in HD), and have had no problems uploading to youtube.

Video does not play in iphoto

I have an iMac with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. iphoto accepts my videos from my camera, but when I double click on them in iphoto, they do not play. I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with quick time version 10.0 (131). I can go to quicktime and play them but curious as to why they do not play in iphoto?

Download and install QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later and then try playing one of the videos in iPhoto again.

Unless you want a new computer, forget about AVCHD. It requires too much muscle to edit comfortably on anything but the fastest computer.
What camera is nice, depends on your budget. Formats that are easy to edit are HDV, DVCProHD (P2) and XDCAM. In the consumer range you could look at the Canon HV40 or XH-A1s, in the prosumer range look at the Panasonic AG-HPX170, Canon XH-H1s, JVC GY-ND250 or Sony HVR Z5 or Z7 and all Sony XDCAM cameras, especially the EX1 and EX3. In the professional range look at the Sony PDW-F355 or upward.

IPhoto and iMovie will not open with Mountain Lion upgrade.

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion OS 10.8, my iPhoto and iMovie will not open. I am using a newly purchased MB Air. I re-installed iPhoto from the App Store after trashing my previously installed iPhoto application. IPhoto Library Manager was downloaded as recommended on Apple Support but also will not open. I also tried to trach the iPhoto plist as recommended by a community member. Each application (iPhoto and iMovie) bounces above the dock and message received that application unexpectedly closed. Yahoo video and other video not playing

Yahoo and other video not playing in firefox 37.0.2
They played automatically 5 days ago....since then video screen is blank...no 'play' button
I have updated Flash several times
Tried to play these videos on IE....don't play there either.
