Videos not playing, pandora site not running

Just got a brand new mac notebook and I love pandora radio. This was working the first day but when I go to the site now it doesn't run the radio station. I also cannot play video's on youtube or music on grooveshark. I must have changed a setting or something but I can't get music or sites with video to play. I'm coming from the pc world and have no clue what to do, please help.
Thanks,
Tavis

Hi Travis,
I hope your enjoying your new mac. it sounds like your having a problem with FLASH. Flash is a video/audio player that's used on some websites like youtube, pandora.
I would try resetting safari:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Safari/3.0/en/9300.html
if that doesn't fix the issue, Check for software updates:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1338
if that doesn't work you could go here:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ if flash is working at all, it should display flash a message that flash is loaded. if it isn't, you can download and install flash from this website.
good luck, if you have any questions just ask.
oh btw , if it's a new mac, and less then 90 days old. you can call apple care for support. 1 800 APL CARE. if the computer is more then 90 days old, and you have apple care you can still call. If you didn't buy apple care, you can still call them, and buy it over the phone.
If you didn't buy apple care, I would suggest purchasing it. it's worth it.

  • Flash videos not running on Chrome or IE on a Windows 7 Toshiba Laptop (Someone Please respond)

I'm using Windows 7 and Chrome and in the last day or so I've had no access at all to flash movies.  I have the newest version of Chrome and the flash plugin.  I've tried a number of things including enabling/disabling chrome plugins and it hasn't seemed to change anything.  All flash video across the internet will not run.
When going here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html, nothing shows up in the box below 1.  Not even an error message.  Flash videos are not working in IE either, and I've tried reverting back to version 10.3 of the player.  Some sites, including Adobe sites, behave as if I don't have flash installed and tell me to download it.   Please, someone help!

Wise of you to investigate in advance.
Your best bet by far nowadays is to get a laptop with hardware virtualization and either the Professional or Ultimate versions of Windows 7 installed. That way, you can use XP Mode.
       Windows XP Mode (Toshiba)
       Windows XP Mode (Microsoft)
You can even open an XP program directly from a shortcut in Windows 7.
For current models suitable to run XP Mode, I suggest you call ToshibaDirect at 888-520-3926.

  • Flash video not running in Captivate 7

Hi. I created an .swf file that has a short Flash video (.flv) file and audio file associated with the very first slide. The audio runs fine, but the .flv file does not run. Instead, I get "connection error" notice where the video should display.
Any clue why this is occurring and how I can get the .flv file to run?
    Thanks,
    - Michael Fekete

Placing video and audio on the very first slide of a project is never a good idea.  Put them on the second slide at least.  With video, you might end up significantly delaying the playback start if it's too heavy.
If you're testing this on your local hard drive, your issue might be due to Flash Global Security settings.  Read this post:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-troubleshooting/how-to-set-up-flash-global -security
If you're testing this from a web server, your issue might be that the web server is not set up to serve FLV files.  Talk to your server admin to verify the FLV mime-type is supported.  If you are able to link directly to the FLV file on the web server, try to play it in your browser directly.  If that works, then the mime-type is supported but your connection error might be something else, e.g. using spaces in filenames, using mixed case filenames on a web server that doesn't handle mixed case without breaking links etc.  Lots of potential reasons.

Since last 3 days youtube video is not running in my safari 7.0.5 - OS X 10.9.4, I tried all things but still the issue remains, what should i do ?

Unless you mention exactly what you have tried that didn't work, we have no way of knowing.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
    Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video. If that doesn't help, back to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.

  • ITunes Videos Not Running Properly

When playing videos on iTunes, they frequently have a short pause, get off track with the sound and just overall bad quality. I know it's not the videos because they work fine on my nano.
In general, my itunes just runs really slow and I understand it's because I am running itunes on vista. Is there anything I can do to help make it a little faster?
    Thank you!

    Hi there,
The movie may not have downloaded properly. You my want to try removing that movie from iTunes and re-downloading it from the iTunes Store. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Video not runs on Ipda 2

    Hello,
I bought an Ipad 2 with IOS 7, but I surprised because the video function on my Ipad 2.
    what's happenned it?
    Please help me.
    thanks.
    regards

    Mike,
When a Video file works on one machine, but not on another, irrespective of the version of PrE, the usual cause is that one machine has the proper CODEC installed (CODEC's usually install at the system level), and the other does not.
In the cited case, the CODEC is from MicroSoft (MS), so it is very likely installed on your PC, but not on your Mac.
I am not familiar with that particular CODEC (there are probably 10,000 different ones, including the variations), but that "MS" leads me to believe that it is available from MicroSoft. If it is a X-platform CODEC, then there should be a Mac version available. Note: many CODEC's are platform-specific, and if there is not a Mac version (or a PC version for some Mac CODEC's), one is out of luck. That is a very big reason that one should use X-platform CODEC's, whenever possible.
As an example, I am exclusively on PC's, but work with a lot of Video, that was created on a Mac. I always ask for those files in the MOV - Animation CODEC, and they work fine on my PC's. However, there are many Mac-only CODEC's (especially the "intermediate" CODEC's used in Final Cut Pro, iMovie, etc.), that will never work on my PC's, as there is ONLY a Mac version of them. The same holds true for some PC-only CODEC's - there is no Mac version.
For more background on CODEC's, in general, see this ARTICLE.
Good luck, and hope that this helps,
    Hunt

. I'm running Windows XP and FF 8.0. I'm having more trouble than ever with intermittent streaming and videos not playing all the way through. What is the easiest way to fix this?

That may be a problem with the VLC plugin. VLC has never worked for me properly on the occasions that I've tried it on Windows and Linux, so I have stop using it. There are usually other plugins or media players available that work better.
What kind of media files are that?
For WMP files you can install the new Windows Media Player plugin you can also try RealPlayer and QuickTime if it is about media that those programs can handle to see if that works better.

  • ItunesU videos not playing in Itunes but play ok if you download to laptop's drive and run them from windows directory

I'm having a problem playing some ItunesU videos, some play okay, some just show black screen and don't play, others show a still image but then doesn't play when trying to view them from itunes store. The audio files play with no issues.
    I am using windows 7.
However, if I download the videos that don't play to the laptop's drive and run them from the windows directory they play okay. I don't want to have to download videos to see if they are something I'd like to watch.
Just for reference, an example of a video that plays okay is by UC Berkeley Math 16A 001, Fall 2011. Another is Introduction to Robotics by MIT.
An example that just shows blank screen is Stanford's Iphone & Ipad development, Fall 2011, both HD and SD versions.
While an example of a video that just shows the initial image but doesn't play is Harvard's Statistics 110. If you adjust the time of the video, the video moves to that part of the video but only shows the image at that time, ex. at 13:02, but doesn't play.
I've tried reinstalling quicktime first, then itunes. I've also tried putting directdraw in safe mode, but the problem videos still won't play.
Could it be some setting, since it plays when the file is downloaded but won't play straight from itunes store online (ie. pressing the play button beside the video in the itunes list).
    Help pls.

You might have more luck asking on a general Windows troubleshooting site, but my guess would be an invalid or old audio or CD driver (or firmware in the drive). You might try checking those to make sure you have the correct and most current drivers.

  • Videos not playing on Kindle Fire running Android 4.2.2

We have developed a video based eLearning module using Adobe Captivate 8. The module is intended to publish to HTML5 so that it should run on all PC browsers, iPad and Android tablets. The module runs well on PC browsers, iPad and Android 4.4.2 version. However, it doesn’t load / play the videos on a Kindle Fire HD running Android 4.2.2.
Has anyone run into this? Is there a solution?
I have prepared a sample Captivate file that can be downloaded from: Dropbox - Interactive-Interview-STD.cptx
Can anyone suggest why the videos don't play on the Kindle and what we can do?
    Thank you very much
    Richard

I retried with the file in an MP4 wrapper and all seemed to go well.
If anyone has any insight into this stuff, I'd appreciate hearing it. Thanks!

  • Flash Video not playing in IE6

I have a flash video embedded in my page that plays fine in
FF and IE7, however when loading the page in IE6 the video is
absent (the "red x" is in its place) and I receive the message
"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls

Now, this happens in IE6 only on the default security
settings. I have other sites that embed flash video and play fine
    in IE6 without warning...they weren't created with Dreamweaver CS3
    though.
What is triggering this in IE 6 and can I remove some code

  • All video content on certain sites does not load or even appear. How do I fix this?

On most websites, all video content is loading fine. On one or two particular sites, the video does not load, but is simply a black box. I disabled all my add-ons, and that did not take care of the problem. I disabled the Enable Hardware Acceleration option on Flash. This did nothing. Please help me fix this. I am at my wit's end.

On Soccer Highlights, because I have Flash set to "click to play", I first need to activate Flash before the black boxes show any content. There is an infobar which slides down or I can use the plugin notification icon (looks like a small Lego block) in the address bar. (Screen shot #1, #2)
Next I click to play and I get an ad. Of course. Followed by content. So it should work.
When you say you disabled all your add-ons, do you mean you tested in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions (but not plugins) and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
''If Firefox is not running:'' Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
''If Firefox is running:'' You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    and OK the restart.
''Both scenarios:'' A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Refresh).
    Any difference?

  • Solution: Flash Videos Not Playing - Win7 w/Comodo Firewall

On a brand new machine, I added my desired desired programs. These included Comodo Firewall and Firefox with assorted plugins and addons (including Adobe Flash Player, NoScript, FlashBlock, AdBlock Plus).
I soon discovered that videos would not play (Initially I could see some videos if they were using HTML5, but after some tweaks they were gone too). I tried MANY suggestions and tweaks found on various boards, nothing worked.
I should have learned long ago that I need to document ALL CHANGES I make to my system - but old habits die hard. I tried many things, with no notes written. I didn't know what issue was preventing Firefox from playing videos. Nothing I tried worked. After no success, I reset Firefox (sad to see my custom settings go). When I restarted Firefox with only the Flash Player plugin active, I still couldn't play videos.
More searches followed. I finally stumbled upon the solution on the Comodo site:
    http://forums.comodo.com/defense-sandbox-help-cis/defense-in-clean-pc-mode-is-blocking-flash-uploader-in-firefox-3612-t64628.0.html;msg459022#msg459022
There I learned that Comodo Defense+ had blocked the Firefox Plugin Container (and Crash Reporter) from running.
I used the following steps to fix the problem on my system (w/Comodo Firewall 7.0.317799.4142):
    1) Open Comodo Firewall (right-click the Comodo tray icon and select Open)
    2) Select Tasks -> Sandbox Tasks -> Open Advanced Settings
    3) In the "Advanced Settings" Window, select Defense+ -> HIPS -> Hips Rules
    4) Find the entry for Firefox.exe. Right-Click it and Select Edit.
    5) In the Comodo HIPS Rule for Firefox.exe window, select the "Access Rights" tab. Locate the "Run an executable" option. Click the modify link under the "Exclusions" column.
    6) In the "Run an Executable" window, select the "Blocked Files/Folder" tab. Select the plugincontainer.exe entry and right-click -> remove to delete it. Do the same for the crashreporter.exe entry.
    7) Click "OK" on each of the Comodo Firewall widows to save the changes and close the window.
After I did this, videos would play. My next task will be to reinstall my favorite extensions and see if I can get Firefox to work as I liked it on my old PC.
I hope this helps anyone with a similar setup.

That was very good research. Happy Computing !
