Videos on 5G iPod - some points

This forum seems increasingly 'choked' with problems with getting videos onto the new iPod ... just thought I would share my SUCCESSFUL experience!
To keep it brief - downloaded Handbrake, used an appropriate width resolution under picture settings i.e. 320, having detected chosen volume etc. etc. and chosen the chapter (if this bits too vague there are LOADS of other posts re using handbrake), this generated a nice .mp4 file BUT fir a while I could not load this into iTunes .... SO ....
Simply changed the file extension to .m4v, ignoring the cautionary prompts, dragged into iTunes video page and was able to play them in iTunes .... BUT ...
Couldn't actually play them on the iPod ... SO ... after much head scratching clicked on the CONSOLIDATE LIBRARY option et voila ... SUCCESS ... correctly loded onto iPod ... sounds good, looks good ... what a gadget!!!!
Hope this might help someone out there!

Find a post on here that is called "My Experience with Apple IPOD Video 60GB (Black)", you will find everything you need to answer your question here. You can use "Videora IPOD Converter" to do your video conversions of both Music & DVD Movies etc. However, before you will be able to convert a DVD Movie using the "Videora IPOD Converter", you will have to run another program against the DVD movie called a "DVD Decryptor". Do a search on google for "Videora IPOD Converter", you will find all your answers to all your questions there. I know, I use it and have Movies/Music Videos on my IPOD. Works great! Despite peoples complaints about it. I think they only complain because they don't know or do not understand how to use the software properly. I have not have a problem converting music/video's or DVD's since i've been using the software in the past 2-3 weeks since installing.

  • Adobe Flash Player don't show videos on YouTube after some point - Black Screen only

Hello. I have a problem with Flash Player on YouTube. It has crashed many, many times so I decided to open this thread for let you know about it if you don't know already.
Now, I've got no crash reports or anything but it crashes after some point. Even if it doesn't give me crash report, I understand it because YouTube videos don't run and I got only black screen. When I tried to close (click "X" at right above) Firefox, it denies to close with some click sounds. I can only close with combination of CTRL+ALT+DELETE and terminate process. After I closed Firefox and open new page, it works fine until I get the same situation.
By the way, I have laptop with these specs:
    Intel Core i5 3210m
AMD Radeon 7670m + Intel HD 4000 ( with AMD Switchable Graphics called Enduro )
    8 GB Ram
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I don't know what problem is causing it so I couldn't give you much information. But if you need any information, I'll try to help. Thanks in advance.
P.S: I'm sorry for the bad English.

Thanks for your reply. I totally forgot the topic, sorry.
I've solved the issue, just disabled hardware acceleration feature from Preferences menu and everything is working well now.

  • Some Video works on iPod, some not

Just got 60GB iPod, 5th gen. The only video files that transfer to from iTunes to iPod are files purchase or downloaded from iTunes Music Store. Files that I have converted in QT Pro using the 'Export for iPod' function will not show up. Looking at the material posted on this website, my files seem to meet the requirements. Any thoughts?

Files that I have converted in QT Pro using the 'Export for iPod' function will not show up
By this, do you mean that the files you created do not automatincally "show up" in the iTunes Library? If so, then be advised that QT Pro does not automatically mount the converted files to iTunes. Instead, it saves the file to the location specified or defaulted to under the file name in the "Export" window. However, if double-clicked, this file will automatically open iTunes, add the file to the iTunes Library, and start to play the file in the iTunes Player.

  • Some videos go onto iPod, some don't. SAME VIDEO SETTINGS for all.

The bold was for those who might suppose I just have the wrong compression settings. No offense.
I used the page from Ken Stone about converting SD DV to iPod compatible videos, and I have a batch of mp4s with the h264 decoder, aac audio, 441, 320x240 (except for one 16x9 video), and all the other correct settings. I know this because the auto iPod updater took 2 of my videos, but not the remaining 13.
My itunes, quicktime, os, and ipod software are all up to date, and I have 44.67 gb available on my ipod.
Any ideas out there? I've restarted (both powermac and itunes), refreshed the update for the ipod. Nothing changes. They all play fine with the same compression settings in QT using the movie info function. Help!!!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Videos go black at some point during playback.

Partway into a video it blacks out. I was at this site:

If I have another site's page open in a separate tab parts of that page get blacked out. If I have a separate window open (to make sure I could log in to support) the input fields won't work then I click somewhere else on the page the whole thing goes black. I have to close all sessions of Firefox to get it working again. I have no problems with Internet Explorer [cringe]. My OS is Win 7 x64.

  • Video management on iPod

ok, I'm at my wit's end. I've got some videos I want to put on my iPod, but I DON'T want to keep them on my computer. I have all the proper back-ups of my videos so don't waste my time lecturing me about that. I've tried manually adding the videos, but the only way I can do that is to manually manage my music as well. What I would like to do is to be able to +manually add videos+ while at the same time +auto sync music+. Is there any way to do this at all?

Hi, I don't think there's a way to manage just the video section manually while retaining auto-sync for music. What you can do, however, is auto-sync the videos to get them onto the iPod, then remove the physical files from your computer while retaining the entries for them in the iTunes library. When you try to sync again iTunes will report that it cannot sync certain files as they cannot be found, but it should leave the previously synced files on your iPod. You can disable the warning if you choose. You will still be able to add new videos onto the iPod by adding them into iTunes, then syncing. You can also remove items you no longer want on the iPod by deleting their library entries.
You seem to have the issue of backups in hand but for benefit of others I would stress that this method should be avoided if it results in the iPod containing the only copy of a particular file because the iPod could easily be lost, stolen or need restoring at some point.

  • I cannot play my video in the ipod

my ipod supports videos, brand new, i downloaded a video from internet and a software to convert video to be compatible with tha i pod but it says, it does it , but when i try to put in my ipod, it would not take it because it says this cannot be played in this ipod. Help me out
toshiba satellite a205-s4607 laptop   Windows Vista

All of the songs had artwork associated with them (on my computer) from the very beginning. When I uploaded them the first time, shouldn't the artwork have gone with them? When you upload album art, is there a way to find it on the iPod, other than playing the songs? In other words, does it reside in a directory that I can view? If there is, I can at least confirm whether the artwork ever made it to the iPod. It just seems weird that it shows up in iTunes but not on my 'pod.
I know that I had the setting orginally set at "automatic" and then at some point I changed it to manual, and then back to automatice, which is how it is set now. But again, I prepared my database of songs on my computer (including artwork) before I ever uploaded them to my virgin iPod, so I thought it would have gone with them from the start.

  • Cant put videos on my iPod...? Also, how do I delete photos?

I just got a 30G iPod video, and first, put all 2440 of my songs on it, then some photos. First question:
When I go to put a friends episode on the iPod, it takes about 2 hours to convert one episode, then sometimes it says the iPod cannot play the video due to some file type or something, (before it attempts to transfer it to the iPod), then when I select that file to sync to the iPod, it says that it will remove all my photos and music, and replace them with the video? Do I have to put videos on it before my songs or photos??? If not, how do I put videos on my iPod without have to remove all my songs first?
    Second question:
How do I delete photos from my iPod once I put them on the iPod. I put about 4 sets of pictures on it, I wanted to delete some, but couldn't find the option anywhere in the iTunes program to do so. Can anyone help me out??
    Thanks!!
    Darren

"Second question: How do I delete photos from my iPod once I put them on the iPod"
Remove the photo from the folder that you linked to when you set the preference "synchronize photos from" and update the iPod. For example, if the iPod is getting the pictures from the folder "My Pictures," remove or delete them from My Pictures. A tip to prevent all your photos going on the iPod create a folder on your hard drive called called "iPod Photos" or something similar. Under the photo preferences for the iPod, point iTunes to "synchronize photos from" and update from there. If you keep a dedicated folder like this, you won't need to edit your normal pictures folder just for the iPod and you can add and remove picture from it whenever you need to.

  • STILL can't get Videos into 5G iPod , Ready to throw it out the window

I'm ready to throw this iPod out the window , I spent all day yesterday over 10 hours , trying to get videos onto my iPod , my iPod software and iTunes are up tp date , first I just drag and dropped them as MPEG no luck iTunes recognized and played them but wouldn't let me drag and drop them to the iPod then I used iSquint , it converted them to MPEG 4 , they transferd into iTunes and played but not the iPod I got an error that they weren't transferable and not recognized by the iPod .
I called Appe this morning and they were no help since I didn't get the Vid's from the appple store and since you only get one free service call ,and wouldn't tell me the format for the videos I didn't want to waste it . They suggested I buy Quicktime Pro .
Then I tried , Movies For My iPod . I used the transfer for iPod option , it converted them to .mp4.m4v . I drag and dropped them directly to the iPod no luck , they're there but wont play or show up in the iPod then I opened up iTunes and drag and droppped them into iTunes again played in iTunes not transfered to the iPod although it said it was updating .
Then ,I tried the custom settings file format MP4 , video format , MPEG-4 Improved , Image Size 320 X 240 QVGA , again I tried to drag and drop them onto the iPod still not there , now I tried to drag and drop unto iTunes , again they're there and play but won't show up on the iPod . I've pretty much had it .
In the Movies For MY iPod they're are some custom settings . File Format MP4(ISMA) In the Video there is an MPEG-4 Improved setting with a bit rate of 256 kbits/sec Image size 320x 240 QVGA frame rate 30 plus alot of other settings which I have no idea what they are .
Today I have 6 hours of frustration into this still no luck . I'm really disappointed with Apple ,I started out with the first iMac a Bondi Blue and have been working my way up , I have an iBook , an iMac Graphite , a G4 iMac a 15G 3G iPod now the 5G iPod . Apple should have included Quick Time pro in the G5 , and only one support call, come on , even Dell gives you a year of support .
And to top it all off the Black is beautiful but scratches easily , I'm a chef , my nails very short and allready it's scratched to bits by the wheel, I keep it in a case when I'm playing it , you can hardly touch it . I'm not very happy with Apple and this iPod , they rushed it out for the holiday , so if your in the jacksonville Florida area look for a flying iPod .

Lets run down a list of possibilities:
    1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
    2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
    3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
    4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode.

  • [Windows] Video conversion for iPod Touch on 2.0

I have recently purchased an iPod Touch 16Gb - cost £242 -, on software version 1.1.4. Immediately installing the latest iTunes (7.7.1.11) with Quicktime (7.5 Build 861), I upgraded the Software version to 2.0. Cost £6.99
Then I went to transfer videos I had on my Nano to my new Touch, and gave me the error:
"Some of the songs or videos in your iTunes library, including "xxxxxxx", were not copied to the iPod "xxxxxxxx iPod" because they cannot be played on this iPod."
So I did some googling and saw that Quicktime could be upgraded to Pro to transcode videos for the iPod. So £24.99 later, tried to save the videos and got the same error. I'm a bit miffed now.
More googling and got the Jodix Ipod converter download - free. Converted into a format Quicktime recognises, added into iTunes and still gives the same error.
So I have paid nearly £280 (est. $500) for hardware / software which wont do the job its built for... Any Questions?

Strangely enough, I have managed to get my videos working. The solution to the problem at the mo is to use low-quality videos. I encoded my videos at 1500kbps, after transcoding them down to 700kbps they seem to run fine and no further converting in iTunes needed. Interesting, seems Apple don't want us putting our own videos on at a HD watchable bit rate - nice.

  • Need to get all the files, well music and video, from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary.

Need to get all the files, (well music and video), from my ipod touch 5th gen to my itunes libary. (So basically sync the other way to normal)
Laptop hard drive broke so had to buy a new one and obviously now need to sort out my itunes.
Did try downloading all my purchased stuff onto itunes but it has missed some things off, and there are some files I did not purchase from itunes so need a way of getting them back on there.
Sure this question has been asked a million times but can't find anything to help me on here so thought I'd ask.
-Did have a look at going onto the start menu and opening the hidden items thing but couldn't see any reference to ipod or device on it so wasn't sure how to do it that way.
-On itunes under my device when its connected, the section about manually restoring and backing up, would that help me? Because that says it will manually back up my ipod to my computer then could restore that back up, obviously I don't want to accidnetally get rid of everything on my ipod so didn't want to try that just in case without checking.
(And yes I have disabled auto sync to device when conncected!)
Can anyone help me please? Sorry if i've overcomplicated this!
    Thanks:)
    Chris

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

  • Video Podcast on iPod Classic vs iPhone 4

Some video podcasts will not load onto my iPod classic but WILL on my iPhone 4. I'm using iTunes 10 on a macbook. i read on this forum about converting video podcasts to iPod format, and that it doesn't always work. I'm just trying to find out why there is a difference between the iPod and the iPhone.
    THANKS

    MORE INFO:
I have also noticed that of the 4 video podcasts I have tried to download on my iPod classic, the only one that was successful had a bit rate, total bit rate, and size in MB that was approx double of what the other three had. I also have, since my last post, tried to convert the podcasts to an " iPod version" from the ADVANCED drop down menu in the iTunes toolbar, but it made no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Video Playback Problems (iPod Classic 120GB)

Hi! I recently purchased my new iPod Classic 120GB but I'm encountering problems regarding video playback.
I downloaded a *music video* from the internet, and the file format is *mpeg video*. I then purchased an iPod Video Converter and thus changed the file to the appropriate one in order to play it in my iPod.
I played the music video first in my iTunes to check whether the video has any problems, but there was none, and it wasn't corrupted. As for my other videos, I have used the same iPod video converter and they were all fine. I then transferred the music video in my iPod.
Problem is, the quality was good and everything, but there are some *slight glitches in the music video*. There wasn't anything wrong with the audio, but with *some of the scenes* in the video itself. I then replayed it, then the *glitch transferred to another scene in the video*.
I then removed the said music video from my iPod, re-converted it, replayed it in my iTunes, then transferred it to my iPod, but the same video still has the same glitch.
So far, I have transferred 10+ music videos in my iPod and they all worked just fine, but I have 6 other music videos that are encountering the same problem with playback.
Does the problem lie with my iPod converter, or in my iTunes, or in my iPod itself? I would like to know.
I would really appreciate some help with this! Thanks!
    For additional information:
    iTunes - latest version 8.1

unfortunately its hard to tell where the problem lies... it depeneds on what type of glitch you are talking about. i really hope you didnt actually pay for a video converter... try "ipod video 9" which is absolutely free... top quality and VERY VERY easy to use!!! this program has never caused issues for me. if the issue is with your ipod it may be a delay in information transfer from your ipods hardrive. try defragmenting your ipod like you would your computer in the "my computer" window on windows, this does actually help your ipod read the information on its hardrive faster and should slightly--->drastically improve your ipods performance depending on factors such as how fragmented (jumbled) your files are, how many files you have on the ipod, the size of each file etc.
these are the only things i can think of!!! try both... see how you get on.
