Videos on an iPod nano

How do you get videos to play on an iPod nano? Ive seen it before, but hwo do you do it?

then why would it say it can play videos...and why
would it have 'buy videos' on the tunes thing?
The Nano has never supported video and I doubt it ever will. All the video in features in Itunes are in place so you can buy stuff for your 5th generation Ipod that does support video playback. They aren't going to keep you from buying something you half to know what you can do with it.

How do i add videos to my ipod nano (7th generation) ? I uploaded the videos on my itunes but whenever i select "add to my ipod" a message comes out saying: "This video was not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod." So what shall I do? And in what form should the video be to be played on the ipod?

    Hi there Engy Hossam,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.

Is there a way at all to put music videos in your ipod nano?

No. The nano is not capable of video playback. You would need the fifth-generation full sized iPod for that.

  • My daughter has accidentally deleted all videos from her ipod nano - is there a way of retreiving them?

my daughter has accidentally deleted all her videos on her ipod nano - is there any way of retreiving them?

If your daughter owns a 5G Nano (the one with the camera built-in) and she deleted her recorded videos, I'm afraid you are out of luck. There is a small chance that some expensive data recovery solutions can recover some of that, but again the chances are slim.

You delete the videos directly from the iPod Nano, not iTunes.

  • How do I transfer YouTube videos to my iPod Nano?

    I'm having a slight problem.
I downloaded some videos from YouTube to download onto my iPod Nano (7th Generation), so I could watch them wherever I go. I then added the videos (converted into MP4 and then into MOV in my attempt to solve my problem) to the Movies, under the "Home Videos" tab. From there, I synced my iPod, and disconnected, going on my merry way. But when I went to watch the videos, none of them were transferred, having only showed me the blank screen, that says "Upload videos from iTunes".
The iTunes Support wasn't much help, because I don't think it was up to date. This is kind of making me frustrated.. Can anyone help?

    So did you update?
Movies must be first converted to mp4 format before you can transfer them to the iPod Nano.  Read the manual that came with your iPod nano or do a Google search.

  • Videos from 5g ipod nano to apple tv

I have taken some videos from my 5th gen. ipod nano. They were uploaded into iphoto. In Apple TV I checked the box under the photo tab, which lists the videos; and I sync. But nothing gets gets synced. There is no error message, nothing gets transferred over. How do I get these videos taken with the ipod onto the Apple TV

    Video Capture specs for nano:
    * H.264 VGA video, 640 by 480 pixels, up to 30 frames per second with AAC audio
    * 15 real-time special effects: Sepia, Black and White, X-Ray, Film Grain, Thermal, Security Cam, Cyborg, Bulge, Kaleido, Motion Blur, Mirror, Light Tunnel, Dent, Stretch, and Twirl
    * H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
The h264 variants should be fine on AppleTV - need to check on the MPEG-4 - resolution may be a bit high.
    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs.html
    MPEG-4 resolution supported:
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
So 640x280 might be too big in the vertical direction - give it a shot and let us know.
I assume the different video capture settings are selectable on iPod nano - you will likely get equal quality with h264 with smaller file sizes than plain MPEG-4 (They're all MPEG-4 variants and the nomenclature is confusing).

  • Video out on ipod nano 7th generation

I am trying to determine if I can play video out to TV with the latest ipod nano (7th gen). I found a support page( iPhone, iPad, iPod: TV out support) which suggests its possible from 3rd gen onwards but I'm not sure that page is up to date for 7th gen, especially as the suggested cables are 30 pin rather than lightning.
If it is possible then which cable should I use? Prefer HDMI but composite or component would do.

    That is normal.

  • Locking video function of ipod nano 5g

    Hi there,
is it possible, to disable the video function of the ipod 5g?
Or lock the Main Menu, so that no one has access without the proper password, like with the maximum loudness?
    Sincerely

I *ask, because i want to buy one for my children, but i do not want them to take any movies.*
    Anyone else, please?

Your only recourse is to purchase an iPod without video features. There is no way to just lock any one feature on the iPod Nano 5th gen with video cam *yet.*

  • Sonic's Video 55 with iPod nano

I've been trying to use the Sonic Video 55 with my iPod nano (3G) and can only get music videos to play. When trying to play movies that I have ripped or purchased, I just get a blue screen even when following Sonic's "Using iPod Classic / Nano 3G with Video 55" instructions.
Also, I can never get the Music Video I select to be the one that plays, when it returns to the "iPod" source, it shuffles to another song.
    Anyone having success with this?

    Try this.
On your iPod go to "Videos / Video Settings".
Then select "TV Out" and either set it to "off" or "ask".
Also, make sure you are accessing the video through the videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist and you access it through that, you also won't be able to see the video.

  • Video podcasts and iPod Nano

    Hi everybody!
Why can't I add video podcasts to my iPod nano 4GB ?

no...i don't becuase, like all good marketing, they have certain products with certain features.
    Such as,
Ipod Nano = incredibly small, album art, and a good amount of music
ipod Video= little big but the screen needs to be big for video capabilities. They can also get more money for something like this.
and plus if nano had video, it be hard to see...the screen is extremely small.

  • No audio on video on just iPod Nano and Clasic

    Hi Folks,
I have recently ran into an issue that has me a bit confused. I have had a couple viewers of our video podcast complain that they are unable to hear the audio on thier devices, it plays fine in iTunes just not on their iPod. One is viewing on an 5th gen. iPod Nano and the other on a 2nd gen iPod Classic. The confusing part is that I have tested on an iPod Touch and iPad and I am not experiencing the issue on those devices.
The issue popped up when we changed over our encoding hardware from an Elgato to a Matrox MXO2LE using their MAX technology. However, the files are being encoded the same way, ACC LC at 128Kbps. The only noticeable difference was that the Elgato was encoding at 44.1kHz and the MAX at 48kHz. As far as I can tell both are supported on the iPods.
    Any thoughts?
    Mike

I'm afraid I have no experience of video on any iPod: could I suggest you ask in the iPod Forum where you could very possibly get someone to test the actual files.
