Videos pause every few seconds

Hello, I was having a heck of a time
trying to fix this problem... and I finally managed to get the flashplayer reinstalled plus the shockwave thing too.
So now I can watch videos again but the problem is that they pause every few seconds.
Can anyone please help me with this problem?
I use Windows XP
Internet Explorer 8.0.661.18702
I have a Hewlett Packard Computer.

• Video freezes every few seconds

My new iPad video playback freezes every few seconds. I have a decentish Internet speed (2.3MB) and have turned all apps off and even reset. Any ideas?

Does it always take a long time to buffer the video? Can take several minutes for a video of the same length.

• Why is firefox lagging and pausing every few seconds on mac os x

I have a brand new iMac running Snow Leopard with 8GBs of RAM. I've been using Firefox 3.6 for a few days and its acting up. Every few seconds it will pause , nothing will move. For example when I'm scrolling, typing, clicking on something. A few seconds will go by until it finally will respond to my input.
I read somewhere else that if you go the the firefox profiles folder and delete sessionstore.js should solve the problem. So I quit firefox and delete that file. And it will be normal for several hour or a day. After a lot of use the same problem happens.
Please anyone, if you know what the problem could be, please help. It's super annoying.
Any ideas?

Thank you, tklaus!
This issue has been driving me nuts for months, ever since I upgraded from 3.* (I don't update very often). Thinking it was just a bug in the latest version, I updated all the way to the current 'latest version', with absolutely no change in this behaviour (if anything it got worse). Tried disabling all addons, it was a *bit* better but still noticeable and irritating, and besides, what use is FF without addons?
Adjusting the session save interval to once an hour (3600000) seems to have reduced or eliminated *most* of the hang-ups, making FF much more usable again! Thank you for giving me my browser back!
(FYI, FF 5.0 running on XP - told you I don't update very often! :)

• DVD player pauses every few seconds?!

Just upgraded my PowerBook to Leopard. I've heard of a few problems with DVD player, but not this one-- approximately every 8 seconds, the DVD player pauses. Not freezes or hangs, but goes into Pause mode, as if I'd clicked the Pause button. Even happens while fast forwarding or rewinding!
Anyone else seen this, or have any suggestions (other than using VLC?!)

If you've had it less tha 90 days, contact Apple support. If you have Applecare, you can talk with them for up to 3 years, but hopefully that's not needed. In the US call 800-275-2273.

• .MP$ Video pauses every 15 seconds

I've been playing movies on my new ipod.
At the start there was an occasional pause followed by video with no audio.
Now, it will start off fine (video and audio) but will pause every 15 sec or so and continue without audio (unless I fast forward or rewind a bit). It's quite annoying when watching a movie.
It seems like something to do with the buffer. ie the buffer runs out and when re-reading the HD, will not get audio.
Has anyone expericened this before?

Are you using the new v1.1 firmware? If so, revert back to 1.0. Alot of 60GB users have experienced the same problem you're describing after upgrading the firmware. Most 30GB models seem fine, so it might be a problem of the new firmware not managing the 60GB's RAM properly (it has a different configuration than the 30GB), as the problem seems to occur when the HD spins up to cache more data.

• After a few hours of being on my new mac mini pauses every few seconds - help

This makes it hard to use as I try to move the mouse the pointer moves and then stops etc.. The same with typing.
Not doing anything really - just mainly running itunes.
Restarting does fix it for a while but restarting every few hours is not great.

If you've had it less tha 90 days, contact Apple support. If you have Applecare, you can talk with them for up to 3 years, but hopefully that's not needed. In the US call 800-275-2273.

• Skype keeps hanging the video/audio every few seconds why?

I daily speak to my disabled son in his hospice some miles away.
I am running OS X 10.9.1 on a mid2012 rMBP using the latest version of Skype.
He is running the same OS and Skype on an iMac.
For many weeks we have been suffering from repeated hangs of video/audio during the conversation, this happens about every 5-10 seconds and lasts about 5-10 seconds. As you can imagine this is very frustrating. Before you say it I have tried FaceTime and that is even worse.
Now today after screaming at my ISP last night and at their suggestion I turned off my Firewall during the conversation and lo and behold the hanging stopped. Switching it back on during the conversation the call remained stable without hanging - v.strange.
Now I then dropped the call switched off the firewall and recalled - the hanging continued.
Additionally I notice that the Video changes from 4:5 to 16:9 and back again regularly and I think this is due to a poor connection but my end has had no errors and runs at 78Mb/s down with 16Mb/s up (sons is 35 down 16 up - no knowledge of error situation).
The firewall is of real interest since there appears to be many reports of issues with Skype and Mavericks.
Anyone got any suggestions? (I have replaced Skype without

Ever since Microsoft bought Skype I have been experience more and more issues like this. I used Skype to keep in touch with my family in Europe and for the past year or so Skype got so bad that I am slowly switching to Viber and FaceTime, depending on is available to the people I talk to. Even when I talk to friends in US abour 3 hours away I still prefer Facetime over Skype.
if you tried FaceTime and it didn't work for you, I am not sure what else you could try. if you don't need video, just try Viber.

• Songs are pausing several times(pausing every few seconds in a song) while playing in iTunes in mac what to do??

while playing a song in itunes on my mac each song pauses atleast twice or thrice in a minute. what to do please guide.

first the mac started acting slow and eventually the itunes started pausing.
This does not look like an iTunes problem. I'll ask the hosts to move this to the Lion forum.
Check, if the problem is system wide or only happens when working from your user account. Try to use iTunes logged in as a different user. Do you get a better performance?
What model of Mac are you using? How much RAM does the mac have?
Have a look at the second half of this document, if anything applies to your situation:

• Creative WebCam NX - video freezes every few seconds, just for an instant

I have 1G RAM, P4 @ 2.0Mhz with 500Kbps internet service. Any suggestions for fixing this problem would be appreciated.

I had the issue of low bandwidth using Amazon VOD and like you was frustrated by the lack of response. I did find by accident that this issue went away if I used the browser on my wifes account (same machine with admin privileges) so perhaps you should start/try another account and see if you get lucky.
It must be related to some pref file but if it's user specific. Right?

• My browser keeps pausing and giving me the color wheel every few seconds

Whenever I'm using Firefox my browser pauses every few seconds and if I am typing something nothing comes out, or the color wheel comes out (I'm on a Mac), if I'm watching a video it pauses every few seconds... it's sort of maddening. I do have about 20 tabs open at a time, I don't know if that is what causes it. It doesn't seem to happen when I am in Safari.

"the spinning wait cursor is displayed automatically by the window server when an application cannot handle all of the events it receives. If an application does not respond for about 2 to 4 seconds, the spinning wait cursor appears."

• Apple tv movie rental keeps pausing as if buffering every few seconds, started over and now says to lower the video res, what is up

apple tv movie rental keeps pausing as if buffering every few seconds, started over and now says to lower the video res, what is up

Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...

• Can hear audio, but video blacks out every few seconds; picture comes back when we hit the tv's volume button

We can hear audio, but video blacks out every few seconds; picture comes back when we hit the tv's volume button. Everything seems to be plugged in well. The picture even starts out being sort of dim. And it goes through phases of working fine but then will randomly start blacking out again. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried turning the TV off and on again.

• My ipad streaming purchased video from itunes stops every few seconds. does not happen with any other streaming video service.

my ipad streaming purchased video from itunes stops every few seconds. This does not happen with any other streaming video service. I have restarted and rebooted already.

I've tried both things, but video still stutters.. Have also tried removing profile, and complete reinstall of firefox.
I'm on 24 Mbit cable and the only user atm. IE and Chrome seems to work without stuttering.
I've having this stuttering every ~5th second, like a small "1/4 sec buffering".

• Video stutters/glitches every few seconds

I have a video I recorded in iMovie with FireWire and rendered as a mov file. The file plays fine in VLC, but in a premiere elements 12 project, it stutters/skips frames every few seconds. Why can't software just work? What do I change?

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed? How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•Has this ever worked before? If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.? Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Have you viewed the tutorial links at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830 page?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
This can also be a problem with session restore.
Firefox stores session data every 10 seconds to make it possible to restore a crashed session.
If you have (security) software that interferes with that or have many tabs open then that cause cause a delay.
Some have reported that increasing the session store saving interval worked for them.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.interval
