Videos, Potcasts, etc play, but image is gone/distorted

Hi,
I've got a weird issue related to iTunes and all video-related items (Movies, Podcasts, Episodes, etc). When I start to play any video item, I get the sound perfectly fine, but the video that shows is nothing more than a blank screen that rotates between a white -> red gradient and a green -> yellow gradient. It's hard to explain, so I hope that this makes sense.
I have the latest version of iTunes and QuickTime, but this problem has existed for a couple of months now (I kept assuming that an update would fix it, but so far no luck).
Does anyone know anything about this issue, what causes it, how to fix it, etc?

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

- I would try transferring the video to itunes on you computer and then deleting it from your iPod. The go to Advance tab in iTunes and select the Create iPod and iPhone Version and then sync to your iPod.

Video won't play but audio will.

Whenever I try to playback my video, the playhead will move but it will stay in the frame I started from and won't play the video, but the audio will play. I;ve tryed rendering everything, restarting my computer, and cleaning the cache but none of that will work. I tried exporting the video and it played fine but it still would do the same thing when I went back to editing. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? Does it have anything to do with me only having 4gb of ram?

After being open for a while (with several tabs) Firefox becomes generally unresponsive and stops playing sound - videos will still play, but no sound.

This problem has only begun happening recently. I commonly keep my Firefox open overnight with websites like rainymood.com or grooveshark.com playing, as well as several other tabs including but not limited to Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube. Sometimes, after several hours/days of not restarting Firefox or my computer, Firefox begins to become unresponsive - that is to say, pages take a long time to load, opening new tabs is difficult for the browser, and videos will take up to 30 seconds to begin playing. In addition to this, sound will stop playing; if I begin a YouTube video, after the initial period of excessive loading, the video will play, but without any audio. Also, websites such as rainymood.com and grooveshark, even Facebook, will stop making sound.
Note that this is different from a flash plugin crash - when flash crashes, both audio and video become inaccessible and a simple refresh or restart of Firefox will solve the problem. But what is happening here is different; if I refresh the tab, nothing changes, and even if I restart Firefox, it opens again the same way until I restart my computer completely.
Also of note: I have had, in the past, this same thing happen but rainymood.com continued playing, however no other tabs would make sound. The problem is sporadic and I'm not sure where to begin. Also, sometimes this is only a Firefox-specific problem, meaning other programs on my computer can make sounds, but sometimes this problem makes my entire computer stop making sounds, except for Ventrilo, which works but is also unresponsive at first.

Video will not play but audio is loud and clear

When in safari I click on play button for movie, the scren goes white, adio plays but screen stays white.

Works fine for me but takes a while to load before you can click Play.
Do you have Flash Player installed?

Ipod Video says "now playing" but timer stays at 0:00 and no music plays

I just purchased a 30 GB Ipod from a friend, it was restored when I got it, I out all my music on it from i-tunes, and when I went to select a song, it would say "now playing" but no sound was coming out, and the timer stays at 0:00. So even tho it says now playing, it really isn't. Any Idea what the problem is???

I am having the same problem with my 60BG iPod. It will stop between songs, indicating that it is still playing (and not paused), the timer stays at 0:00, but the playback does not continue. I have also had the problem recently where a song will stop mid-way through, again not paused, and will not continue. I reset the iPod but this has not resolved the issue since it is apparently not a one-time problem. Hopefully there is a fix that does not require erasing my entire songlist, and since I manually control my music, using the "restore" feature on iTunes is not an option.

Xha1 video blurry when played but not paused

ok so i shot video on the canon xha1, hdv 60i.
when the footage is paused it looks super clean, but when i play it, its all blurry. both render bars in timeline show grey. not green and blue. this wont be the export quality will it? and can i fix it?

Your real time preview is showing you a proxy image (decreased quality) in order to keep the playback up to speed.
No, your export won't look like that.
You'd do well to connect an external ntsc (or pal as appropriate) monitor to understand how your material really appears. The manual has a section on connecting external monitors and this forum has a plethora of posts explaining it as well. Recognize what works for DV will not work for HDV.

External video doesn't play but only shows still frame (some times).

When trying to view a clip or sequence on my external video monitor (NTSC via firewire through Sony converter box) and only for some of my projects, I cannot get the video to play. It displays a single frame and then updates when I stop playing a clip on the desktop. I've selected "all frames" in the External video option, but I cannot get it to play real time. This only happens with certain clips or sequences. Any ideas what's up?

I've been having this same issue. I'm pretty sure it has to do with one of my sequence settings. I have no issues when I'm playing back an SD project but when I try to playback an HD project to an SD monitor I encounter thsi problem where it stays locked on the last frame I paused at. I'm using a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme HD and attempting to playback over composite.

capturing a video works fine in my nokia c6-00. .but wen i play the captured video the video hangs for some minutes but the audio keeps on playing. i am saving the videos on mass storage 8gb sd with 5gb free space. software version m using is 40.

This is possibly a networking problem. If the Apple TV and router lose connection, or the speed is too slow, it stops loading, or buffers.
Test your internet speed several times to see if it drops or is just too slow.
Update you Apple TV if needed.

Video tutorials will play, but only for 2 seconds

Before it will pause on its own and I will press play and it will do this only twice before it reverts back to the beginning-again on its own. I tested this on 10 separate videos so it can't be the videos. Is this a quicktime problem or some sort of bug?

Ok try this then :
- Close iTunes
- Go to /home/Library/Preferences and move the file called com.apple.itunes.plist to the trash
- Launch iTunes
If it works, you can delete the file from your trash but you'll have to go through your preferences again. If it doesn't, restore it to its initial location.

Help with video settings please! videos will not play but audio of the vid

Hey..i have the 30GB ipod video. i have alot of music videos on there which are under the category movies on my ipod. i turned my ipod on about three weeks ago and none of the movies would play. they all appear as thumbnails. the thumbnails dont move but the audio of the movie does play. the thing that has happend is that somehow all my songs have come into the video playlist and i dont know how this has occured. i cannot plug my ipod to my computer as my computer no longer works. and if i plug it into my laptop then the songs and movies and photos will be earsed. i really want my videos to work again i just dont know how the settings have changed themselves.. is there any chance anybody knows how to get the videos to work again? if you require more information please let me know..the video settings are as follows: tv out - off, tv signal - PAL, widescreen - off. Also if i want to back up everything on my ipod how do i go abouts doing this so that i do not lose the data on it? thank you..chandni

Video will not play but audio does

I transfered some .mov files from my friends mac and tried playing it on my pc. It plays the audio but not the video on Quicktime. I tried using the VLC player and it says some thing about "icod." I tried many converters but they all failed.

Load one of the videos into QuickTime Player, open the Movie Inspector (from the Window menu), and post the information shown in the Format section. That will provide some important information for diagnosing the issue and suggesting what to do.

Selectd anamorphic but image is still distorted

I have been shooting material with a Canon HV-20 set to capture in 16:9. When I capture the footage after setting FCE to anamorphic on easy setup, I still get distorted pictures. They seem squished horizontally. What gives? Also, my camera is sending 16:9 DV to the computer, not HDV, because my poor iMac would take forever trying to churn through HDV. Thanks in advance for your help.

I had a similar problem with distorted images when I was viewing them in the Viewer.
Try clicking on the magnification icon above the viewer screen and selecting "show as square pixels" - this fixed the problem for me...

Play again button after video is done playing

Hi,
I need help with some flash video stuff please... I am importing video into flash via FLVPlayback Component..
What I would like to do is have a button after the video is done playing that offers to re-play the video and may be another button with some other action.. I"m sure it's some kind of "if" statement... (to see when the video is done playing) but I'm very new to AS - I would really appreciate any help. Thanks ahead of time!!

What I"m trying to do is have a movie play (with auto hide controls), and once it's done playing, I wanted to have an option to
either play it again or do something else, like to to all movies etc. Now my code doesn't give me any errors but it still doesn't doesn't do what I want it to do. Now it plays the movie and afterward the button appears.. but it doesn't restart the movie..

Video is not playing in the latest version of shocwave

I have been getting calls from my users that tell me that videos will not show up since they updated their Shockwave.
I have tested it here and with an older version of Shockwave, everything is fine but when I updated, the video no longer displayed.
The audio does play but no video.
Does the same on all browsers.
Adobe, please fix this asap!!!!!!

I agree - I am seeing an area where I presume video should be playing but I only hear the sound.
You won't find an Adobe representative or tech support here, just other users trying to help one another.
I assume Raymond that you are the content developer? Have you tried isolating the issue into a minimal file that could be submitted to Adobe as a bug report? I would suggest doing so as a start on getting your issue addressed. If you're lucky, doing so will lead you to find a solution, or perhaps a work-around. Create a file that only plays a video. You said earlier:
