Videos skipping and stopping.

Several videos, all correct format, will play for a certain amount of time, pause, and then, several seconds later, will begin to play only audio, skipped forward the amount of time the video was paused. Then again, several seconds later, the video will kick in.
Also, several different videos will pause randomly, then I will hit play, and it will begin to play with NO audio. Why is this?

what format do you have the files in?
Did you convert them with anything?

It usually means a slow internet connection, or inadequate hardware or both.
It is not a 10.6 problem as such as 10.6 handles video streaming quite well.
In your post this tag seems incongruous in this 10.6 category.

I am experiencing the same problem, not being able to access internet at the same time as streaming iTunes music through an Airport Express.
Our configuration consists ot; an iMac G5 and an AirPort Express connected to a cable modem.
This problem first occurred using iTunes 7.0, now updated to iTunes 7.0.1, along with OS X 10.4.8
I have followed the Apple troubleshooting guide - without success to this point. The internet can be accessed (although slower than usual). However when the AX is set, using the AirPort Admin Utility to provide an AX provided IP address to the computer, the internet disappears, but iTunes can play over the network via the AX station.
I am suspecting a damaged preference file, or something of that nature, but am not sure what file(s) to be searching for.
Any help here would be appreciated.

Quicktime video skips and freezes after exporting from FCP

I have tried exporting from Final Cut a few different ways, but my QT file had short skips and freezes in the video (the audio is perfect).
I have done this same thing several time with no problems at all. What am I doing wrong?

Videos start and stop such as iCloud information video

When I try to use your video for information such as for iCloud the start and stop. Then I hit the arrow again start and stop. Is it my iPad or your video?

(we are just users, like you. It's not my video)
Are you watching a video that has been downloaded to the pad, or are you streaming from apple's or anybody's website? It sounds like a connection speed issue. If you are streaming, you need a fast connection, 3 g likely will not work well. Wifi usually works better, but again, is dependant on your speed.

Yes! Good idea. In fact, this is the proper way to troubleshoot this issue - isolate the problem by first taking the wifi router out of the equation completely.
Your current speed is in the broadband spectrum, yet it's at the very bottom. I wouldn't be surprised if you experienced video problems at your current speed - even with your local network working properly.
What type of internet service do you have and who is your provider?

Audio and Video skipping and jumping

WUTFDT3 getTV channel is skipping and jumping in the audio and video. It will skip and jump for about 10 to 20 seconds and then be fine for 30 seconds to a minute. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me

Your internet connection might be the problem. I am a fellow student also and my school's wireless network is always slower than the ethernet. And also, did you try to watch the TV show while it is downloading? I know it can but I suspect that might be the problem too. (so basically I don't know what is going to too) But if there is a ethernet port on your wall use the ethernet connection and watch it after it downloads completely. You also said that you purchased it twice? You don't have to do that. Email Apple and they should let you download it again for free and maybe they can give you credit for the second download. Video Plays Back for Four Seconds Then Skips and Stops

Hi, I have an IMac G5, running on Mac OSX 10.3.9, 2.6 GHz processor, 1.25 of RAM.
I have edited on Final Cut for over a year, but slowly the performance has declined. It is now so bad that my imported dv files play for 3-4 seconds before the picture freezes, then the audio sputters and the entire clip comes to a stop. At first I thought it was a problem with the hard drive, but after purchasing another Lacie drive, the problem continues.
I have no idea what to do and I certainly hope my system isn't decaying on me. If anyone has ANY words of wisdom on this matter please let me know.

Video plays and stops

When playing videos, the audio will start and after about 6 seconds they stop (video is a picture and does not play). I can move the time bar to later in the video and hit play again and it will change pictures and play audio for another 6 seconds. I can't fix it.
I have repaired quicktime 3 times. (videos play fine in quick time).
I have repaired itunes.
I have reloaded and downloaded latest itunes.
I have tried the advance options with the directx and safe options in the setup.
What else can I try.

As for your playback issue, it seems much more wide-ranging than the problem I was originally responding to. I think it might be an unrelated issue. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for somebody whose iPod has problems playing any video. My suggestions only might apply if the iPod has an issue with a specific video, but continues to play the rest as it always had.

When playing a video - it is constantly stopping and starting. The two sites that I use are Nascar.com and YouTube. I have uninstalled, cleaned files, reinstalled, rebooted, and dont know what else to do. Not computer savey here.

Streaming video tends to do that - either if your Internet connection is slow, or the server at the other side is slow.
The only thing you can do about it is to pause the video yourself near the beginning, then let it load to about two thirds or more, then play it.

1. The video never plays it will just show the buffering ring
2. Videos that are short i.e. 30 seconds or so will start to play 1 or 2 seconds then skip straight to the end
3. The video plays fine and then pauses repeatedly
4. The video starts to play and somewhere during the video it skips right back to the start and plays from the beginning again.
As you can imagine these problems are persistant and extremely annoying to say the least. I would be very appreciative if anyone could offer any advice to sort these problems out. I have bt Infinity (if that makes any difference)

Videos skip and are very slow when I play them in anything other than fulls

When I try to play a video it is ok when it is in the small box in the corner but when i double click and get the video larger it skips alot and play very slow, but when I make the video full screen it play normally. How can I play the video in the mid size box in the right way.

I'm having the same problem (iTunes 11.02!) .
I think this one isn't resolved because it IS rare: I've had iTunes on about 7 different machines (Mac and PC) since it begain (2001). In fact I maintain the same library without issues for over 10 years. Anyway this is the first time it's occurred (in my case it's happened on a pretty recent Mac Laptop). But as you may have discovered, google/bing searches for similar problems yeild VERY few results.
A guy at the Apple store was able to temporarily fix by doing some low level cache removal, that may give a glimpse to the reason, but is not a permanent fix.
I'm going to try a few things will report back if I have any luck**.

It's alright, I don't have a Mac so I get confused too. The option key should be somewhere to the left of the space bar and look like it is trying to represent railway points.
I don't know how migration assistant works, but presumably it has dumped an iTunes folder somewhere on the Mac. Inside that should be a file called iTunes Library.itl that is the core of the library. Unfortunately iTunes "thinks different" so we can't just double click the file to open it, that opens whatever the "current" library is instead, so you'll need to hold down option (shift for Windows) to get a dialog to choose or create a library. Click choose and browse to the relevant file.
If iTunes can't play your music at this point and gives the exclamation mark of doom then we need to go back to the Windows 7 library, tweak it up for easy export then bring it over again. Overview here. Customized instructions on request.

FCE4 - Video starting and stopping

I imported some DV video from my hard drive into FCE and the playback just stops and starts. I see one frame, then it stops almost as if it is pausing, and then it starts for one frame, then stops...how do I fix this?
My iMac meets all the requirements, but the only one I am not sure about is this:
An AGP or PCI Express graphics card compatible with Quartz Extreme
Does the iMac Core 2 Duo have a graphic card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme? Whatever the heck that is.

I don't know it doesn't seem any more logical to have it paused. I assume it
is just a preference on the part of the developers of Flash.

There are several ways to pause the video playback at teh beginning of the
Flash movie. It actually depends on how you have the movie inserted into the
time line. If you used an FLVPlayback component, then all you have to do is
click to select the component, open the component inspector
(window>component Inspector) and se the autoplay value for the component to
false. If you have the video inserted another way let me know.

The comment about the behavior of video suggests you work with a technology
that has the opposite autoplay behavior.

DVD - video skips and sound also

I am running bootcamp on my macbook pro, and when trying to watch commercial DVD's I find that they play great in mac os, but the video and sound skips in windows? I tried playing it in windows media player and real player but still skips The weird thing is it was working fine a couple of days ago!
Does anyone know what could be the problem? With my PC laptop last year I found it started to happen just before the hard drive failed! Ive only just converted to a macbook and its 3 weeks old!
Also, please dont suggest I take it to get looked at etc, I bought this over ebay for nearly full price, advertised with '1 year warranty' but the seller fails to tell me theres no reciept. As much as I understand, apple says it has to have a reciept
