Videos stop after few seconds then continue

My system is W7 Home Premium 32 bit and IE 8
Just recently I find that when I try to play a video clip (generally BBC News
but also others) the rotating circle of dots displays whilst the video is loading
but it then plays (sound and vision) for only a few seconds then stops for about
10 seconds and then resumes playing right through to the end.  If I click on
'play again' it will play the complete video without any interruption.
At first I thought this was my system malfunctioning, but having set up a laptop
for a friend (using W7 Home Premium 63 bit and IE 8) the same thing is happening.
I am posting to this forum as it seems that many video problems are down to
aspects/settings of Flash Player.
All suggestions to resolve this problem greatly appreciated.

Hi, I am glad you were able to get into the BBC site.  You may probably know that the BBC are
forbidden to broadcast commercial advertisements in the UK, but I understand they are allowed
to do so for some of their foreign broadcasts - to recoup some of their expenses.
It occurs to me that because the news video was preceded by an advertisement, the video had
enough time to completely download before it started to play.  Does that sound reasonable?
I get the feeling that my problem is concerned with buffering and the video is starting to play before
it is completely downloaded; as I said previously, replaying the video (when the whole file is presumably
in memory) it plays right through without interruption.
As I stated in my first post, viewing videos on my friend's laptop is also having the same problem.
Instead of connecting the laptop into a network, I have disconnected my own desktop Ethernet
connection from my modem and then connected the laptop via the Ethernet.  That means that the
common things to both systems are the modem and the Internet connection to my ISP, which
makes me wonder if there is a problem with the modem?  It will be interesting to see what happens
when I take the laptop back to him and connect via his router.
Having checked the Shockwave Flash Object I was surprised to find it is version 10.0.045.2
whereas Adobe's 'about' page informs me that I have version 10.1.102.64 of Adobe Flash Player
installed.  I understand that Shockwave is installed as part of Flash Player so do not understand
the discrepancy between versions.  Could the different versions cause a conflict?  However
my friend's laptop shows 10.1.102.64 for Shockwave and Flash Player.
The files in the Flash folder are - Flash101.ocx, Flash Install.log, FlashUtil101_ActiveX.dll
FlashUtil101_ActiveX.exe and install.log
With regards to streaming another site I go to is EarthCam - http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/
and have no problems watching this.
Hope you may be able to deduce something from all of the above
Thanks

I have a problem with youtube...i can't watch some videos from youtube! They stop after few seconds of playing!! what can i do to fix it??

Try loading the same video in different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer are your best options). If the issue is across all of them, make sure you've downloaded the latest version of Flash at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If it's still stopping after that...Do the tried and tested method for everything: reset your router.

The song starts and stops after 1 or 2 seconds and ITunes switchs to the next track ...
    Same effect with Media Player.
Media player says there is an error (red cross !) but there is no error message ....
All works fine with winamp .....

  • My media apps stops after few seconds of playing, Youtube, Ipod, Wunder Radio, etc..

in trying to use ipod and youtube apps on my iphone 4 on IOS 4.3.3 and after a few seconds they stop playing, can't play the songs or videos or wunder radio over 5 seconds, last time i reseted to factory, then i realized there's something wrong with the config, i wanna know what is it .

Hi i have exactly the same prob as yours. Seems like this is rather recent. Just asking, did you jailbreak ur phone?

  • Screen sharing stops after few seconds

I am screen sharing between two 10.5.8 computers and have successfully shared a number of times between these 2 computers with no network changes. Now, over the past few days, whenever we start a connection, I see computer 2 and I can move the mouse for a few seconds. Then it stops and we get an iChat communication error.
Settings: Both iChats have bandwidth limit set to none, both have sufficient bandwidth (connector doctor says screen share ok). The error log says no data received in the past 10 secs, but it has not even been 10 sec.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
The symptoms of those that do Block this sort of connection is that it seems to connect but gets shut down immediately.
The 10 Sec Error message means it was connected but the connection was dropped or broken or ended but not by iChat.
I would also look at Router and Modem settings.
See if your or the other end has DoS (Denial of Service) or SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) which can impact on some Chats (Mostly Video normally).

  • Import from camcorder stops after few seconds. Never used to! Ideas?

Hi you wonderful experts and enthusiast out there.
Been using iMovie HD 5 successfully for a couple of years, but all of a sudden I can't import from my camcorder. I have a long, unbroken, recorded sequence on the camcorder, but when I go to import iMovie imports just a few seconds before stopping. And if I hit import again it does the same, but the "bits" don't match exactly so I cant even splice them together. Which leaves my with no idea how to proceed.
I did wonder if the movie was already too full (unlikely, but the same happened on a brand new movie) and also whether the DV tape was just too old (but the same is happening with a brand new tape).
    It's a Canon MV960, if that helps.
ANd if I can't use iMovie to import it - is there another way? (Like I can use image capture in place of iPhoto if I so desire.)

    Hi
My list of what to try:
    Test another FW-Cable.
The GarasgeBand trick. Start GB save a fake project close it. Now try iMovie again.
Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
Toogle in iMovie pref: Play-back via Camera (on<->off some times)
Other ways to import Your miniDV tape:
Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE Mac OS Exchange formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin FW one ?
    Using WHAT ? :
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie 8 (7.1.?) ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? (Others don't count)
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK eg recording and playback to TV)
Delete iMovie pref file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into
    this and have a re-try.
    from LKN 1935:
Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935
    from Karsten:
in addition to Bengt's excellent '9 yards of advice' ..
camera set to 'Play' , not rec/computer/etc.?
camera not on battery, but power-line?
did your Mac 'recognize' this camera before...?
    a technical check:
    connect camera, on, playback, fw-connected...
click on the Blue Apple, upper left of your screen ..
    choose 'About../More..

  • Satellite A110-180 - Fan starts but stops after few seconds

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite A110-180 and when I turn on the computer the fan starts running but it stops in a few seconds and starts again in a while and stops again and starts..... Then the laptop gets heat quickly.
I bought the laptop around 5 years ago so I think that the problem is either the fan or the circuit that controls the fan. Can someone that has had the same problem make me sure that the fan is the problem?
The part number of the fan is ATZHG000500. Does anybody know if a fan with P/N ATZHG000100 is compatible with my laptop or if I can use other fan?
    Thanks for your help,

    Hi Boarder,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
I already cleaned the fan 3 days ago because I thought that perhaps that was the reason of the fan running. I installed a program to control the hard drive and CPUs temperature and at the beginning when I turn on the laptop in the morning the temperature is ok, but when I look an email and surf by internet a little bit for 10 min the temperature increase in 10º or more in CPU and hard drive, and the fan is still running in the same way that I commented (in a discontinuous way). So I don't think that it's normal at least theoretically. I also have another laptop and the fan is running all the time.
I'll check about the thermal grease to see if the condition are fine.

  • Webcam always stop after few seconds...

I just want to know why does my webcam broadcasting keeps on stopping in a few seconds if I invited my friend to view my webcam. I am using MacBook with 10.4 OS X and my friend uses a Windows XP OS. Do I need to install something to enjoy my video conferencing to my friends. Though I know it would be perfect if I use the iChat AV but unfortunately some of my friends are using Windows. What is the best thing to do to enjoy chatting with my friends using windows as I enjoy iChat AV to my friends that are using Mac OS.

That's weird. I'm on a PC, and my friend has a 20" iMac. We can video chat and audio chat through AIM fine.
Sign into AIM through iChat, it should do the trick.

  • Video freezes after 30 seconds, then restarts, but audio is lost.

I just got this 5G 60 w/video about a week ago. I used ImTOO to convert DVD movie to MPEG4 format. I used iTunes to copy the movie onto the iPod. I then start the playback of the movie and approx. 30 seconds later, the movies momentarly freezes, then resumes, but without audio. Below are steps that I took to reproduce this issue.
    1) Launch iTunes (set to automatic update)
    2) Launch ImTOO and convert DVD to MPEG4
    3) After conversion, update iTunes
    4) After update, disconnect iPod and insert earpiece
    5) Locate MPEG4 movie and click the center button
    6) Allow movie to play and observe
    Results:
During playback (approx 30sec), movie freezes and audio stops (approx 10sec), movie resumes, but audio remains silent.
Expected results: Should have played the movie without any delays, freezing, and loss of audio.
BTW, I have used other popular conversion kits to convert DVD to iPod savvy formats as well. All have the same results during playback.
If anyone can help, max thanks!

You indictaed that I should repost in the correct forum. To the best of my knowledge, this was the best suited forum for my issue. So if you want this posting to be placed in a different forum, then suggest you post it into the forum you would like it to be. Now you take care... and have a good day.

  • Video freezes after 20 seconds, then video plays with no sound

I used ImToo to put DVDs onto iTunes and then onto my 60GB iPod (which I bought today). The video plays for about 20 seconds before freezing (both sound and audio). If I go back into the menu and then back into the movie, it picks up where it left off - but then sometimes the sound stops while the video keeps going.
The videos play perfectly on iTunes, but not on the iPod. Is my iPod faulty?

How are you trying to put the videos on?
Connect the iPod and go to edit-->preferences in iTunes. Hit the iPod tab, then the videos tab. Make sure update all videos is selected.
Note that your preferences may look slightly different.
Also, is iTunes itself up to date?
    iPod Updater
Finally, try unistalling the 2006-01-10 updater (before you update iTunes)

  • Video stops after two seconds

I've had a Macbook for a little over seven months, and this problem just started showing up a few days ago. It's the video. It will start playing for the first two seconds and it'll just stop there. It happens to every video I play. I've tried different DVDs so it's not a problem with the DVD itself. I also tried viewing videos on YouTube, and the same thing happens. I could move the bar thing around, but it'll just play for another two seconds. What's wrong, and how can I remedy this problem?

Someone told me to do a software update. The video works now.
