You don't if they are shot in AVCHD. You use iMovie for that material.

Close and restart Photoshop if you have not already done so.
In Photoshop, go to the Help - About Plug-in... menu then choose Camera Raw.  What version does it say there?

  • Can you live stream video to computer using Sony Action Cam X1000V 4K?

I'm a computer programmer and I need high quality camera and Sony Action Cam X1000V suits me the best. I would like to know can I stream live video to my computer using hdmi/usb/wifi/anything from Sony Action Cam X1000V?

    Hi PatrikWWDC,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
Yes, you can do live streaming using the FDRX1000V action cam. You can use UStream to stream your videos live online. Here is a guide on how to prepare the camera for Live Streaming.

  • Cannot view source video in FCP with Sony XD-cam PMW-ex1r.

I just got a sony xd cam and am having trouble transfering the information on the s x s card onto a computer format.
I have the software downloaded so I can see the camera as a drive and the video is being stored as mpeg 4.
My problem is the MP4 video files are not recognizable by anything.  When I try to play them in QT I get the message displayed in attached image.
    Any suggestions friends?

Did you download the XDCam transfer software?
    http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcam/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-micro -xdcam-downloads-XDCAMSoftwareDownload.shtml#apps
Install it, then in FCP, go to the menu File > Import > Sony XDCam.
This will launch the XDCam transfer software. You can specify where you want to put the imported files in the Preferences Pane under the Import tab.
This will ingest the clips and put the clip into your open FCP project automatically.

  • I Cant get iMovie to upload videos taken on my Pentax A10 camera

Can anyone help? I was having issues with video files in iPhoto taken with my pentax. Other videos were playing fine and have uploaded to iMovie.
Installed Perian. Movie's are playing back with sound now in iPhoto so progress being made.
I can't however get iMovies to recognize these pentax video's and pull them in. Even tried a manual import but it won't let me select the files. Am I doomed to fail for this or is there another way?

This is an extract from a review of your camera:
"The Optio A10 is DivX® certified. Movie playback is not supported on Macintosh operating systems."
Perhaps MPEG Streamclip would be able to convert your files.
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
You could try downloading and installing then drag your files into MPEG Streamclip.
Select File > Export to QuickTime then choose the Apple Intermediate Codec.
The converted file will import into iMovie.

  • Compatibility problem with Imported videos taken from Galaxy S2's Camera

    Hi,
I have several video files taken from galaxy s2 in various sizes ( 720*480, 1280*720,...).
I imported them to iPhoto'11 on my mac with other photos successfully but failed to sync them with my iPad through iTunes.
It said "The video format is not supported by the iPad"...
I checked the video files with MediainfoMac application and they're encoded with H.264 which is supported by ipad.
I even converted them with avidemux ( copying video, re-encoding audio with FAAC) which used to work for many mkvs and avis, but syncing them also failed...:(
I know I can sync them if I re-encode whole file, but still I can't understand why the mp4 video file from galaxy s2 are not compatible with ipad!
Here's a file information taken from MediaInfoMac application. Please someone let me know why this file format is not supported by ipad...

    Tim, that's a good thought.
The Mac I hooked the iPod up to is running iTunes 4. However, I did not sync the iPod to it, I answered "No" to all queries to sync to the computer.
This of course doesn't mean that the presence of iTunes 4 on the Mac didn't screw up the iPod, but I think that would have to be considered a bug that should be fixed since you ought to be able to recharge your iPod on any computer's USB port without screwing up your library regardless of what version of iTunes it is running as long as you don't attempt to sync the two machines. Hopefully someone from Apple will look into whether this is indeed the problem and if so, fix it.
Interestingly, I discovered my music videos and tv shows under the /Music/Playlists/Purchased (but NOT my purchased music!), and I can play the music videos back that way, but it only plays the audio and the first frame of the video as if it were album art. The tv shows won't play back at all, apparently.
I suspect you are correct that iTunes 4 accessed the iPod without permission and screwed things up. Hopefully Apple can fix that since I regularly visit people who don't keep all their software updated to the latest versions due to having dial-up internet or other reasons (which, after all, aren't really my business).
    Thanks for the help.

  • Videos taken on iPad do not upload to iphoto

I have taken 30 minute videos on my ipad 2, which I want to move onto my computer.  I know how to import photos and videos and often iphoto works just fine, but every once in a while the videos will not upload.  The iPad shows up in iphoto and I can click on the video I want to import and press 'import selected' and it goes to a gray screen where it just says 'preparing to import'.  This goes on and on and on and it never ends up importing the video.  I know that this is not an issue of storage because the iPad has at least 40GB free on it and the computer (MacBook Pro) has over 100GB available.  The iPad is updated and I can't think of anything else that would stop this.  I have tried using Image Capture but it also doesn't work and I can't email them because 1. the videos are too large, and 2. i don't have wifi (although I do have LAN)
If you can think of any way to fix this please let me know.  Thank you!

You don't if they are shot in AVCHD. You use iMovie for that material.

  • Importing Sony Bloggie camera's MP4 videos?

    Hello.
Can iPhoto '08 and '11 import MP4 video recordings from a Sony Bloggie camera? I tried this on an old 15" MacBook Pro with its updated Mac OS X 10.5.8 and its preinstalled iPhoto '08. It detected them in iPhoto, but can't play? However, opening MP4 in Finder for QuickTime seems to work. Will Mac OS X 10.8.3 and iPhoto '11 have the same problem? Basically, iPhoto is like with photo(graph)s to keep in collections.
    Thank you in advance.

    Terence Devlin wrote:
If QuickTime can play it then iPhoto should too. Are you sure the exact verion of the OS on that machine? iPhoto08 and 10.6 had a problem playing videos, but not 10.5
Well, I tried to play them when iPhoto automatically appeared after connecting and turning on the camera. Note that I have not imported them yet. If I try to play them through Finder, then it works.

  • Import from Sony NEX-6 crashes iPhoto?

My wife got a new Sony NEX-6. We're back from a vacation and I'm trying to import her photos into iPhoto.  After crashing iPhoto about 20 times, I still haven't imported half of her photos.  I have copied all her photos to my Mac, and I just drag a folder of them to iPhoto.  If it's not the first time I've tried to import that forlder, I tell iPhoto not to import photos already imported.  iPhoto works a while and then crashes. When I restart it, it says it found photos that weren't imported and would I like to import them. I say yes, and some of the photos it had been working on when it crashed end up getting imported.  Repeat until you pull your hair out.  This problem is not just with one memory card, but occurs with all eight memory cards she used in her NEX-6 on our trip.  I imported all my photos from my Canon S95 without a hitch, as normal.  But there's something about importing photos that were taken on a Sony NEX camera that causes iPhoto to crash quite often.
My wife uses Aperture and didn't have a problem importing her photos into Aperture.
I've seen discussions on other fora about others seeing the same problem with other Sony NEX cameras, so I know this isn't just me.
    Any thoughts?

My wife took several thousand photos on our trip.  iPhoto will import anywhere between 5 and 123 photos before it crashes, so it's not every photo that crashes iPhoto, but just some of them.  (I don't remember the exact numbers of photos that iPhoto has been able to import before crashing, but sometimes it's just a few, and sometimes it can import more than a hundred before it crashes.  So, to do an exhasutive test of what you're describing, I'd have to manually open and save a lot of photos to prove anything.  Are you thinking of this as a fix, or just a way to gather more information about the problem?

  • Can iPod  store video taken on Sony DSC-H1 digital camera?

I would like to be able to download the video segments I might take on my digital camera, to the iPod for storage, later to be transferred to my iMac for editing. Can this be done?? Thanks.

I'm leaving next week for holidays and I am looking
for a storage device. I don't want to take my laptop
with me as it is my employers. I want to be able to
store video files from my Sony DSC-W30 camera. Does
anyone know if the camera connection will work for
    this?
Well in case anyone was wondering. It works. You can't view them but they are all there. It is an excellent way to have digital storage device on the road. It does eat into the battery charge quite a bit though. Make sure it is well charged before you import photo's and video's.

  • How do i open a photo taken with sony p1 camera saved in dsc format on cd?

How do i open a photo taken with sony P1 camera saved in DSC format on a CD?

The P1 looks like a high end video camera not a still photo camera to me and DSC files appear to be support files not photo or movie files
Why do you think that you have photos in a DSC format?
You might give Google a shot and see what you can find but it looks to me like you do not have either image or video files but supporting files - and if you have video files you may have to use iMovie - it is much more robust at working with videos

You may be able to download and install the update from here: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01
If I upgrade to Yosemite will I be forced to go to the new Photos program
No. After upgrading (and of course make a back up first) you will need to update iPhoto to v9.6.1 (you won't be able to do this prior to upgrading). Here's how:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
Photos is v1 of a new app, as yes it's not as mature as iPhoto. It uses a different technology for working with external editors. That requires Adobe to write an extension to let it hook into the new app. Not done yet, neither has anyone else.
Going forward: iPhoto will run on OS 10.10., but there is no guarantee for subsequent versions of the OS. You might want to factor that into your anger term thinking.

  • My computer is no longer allowing me to import video from my Sony HDR camera.

My computer is no longer allowing me to import video from my Sony HDR camera.  I don't know if it is the operating system or the version of imovie or what.  I also have imovie 06 and I was always able to import into it and can no longer do that either.

    See:

This is probably due to a similar issue to a browser redirect.
